The guys talk about this day in 1967 when the famed Ice Bowl took place in Green Bay. The Packers beat the Cowboys, and the goalpost came down. We visited this great memory with several guests, including former reporter Tony Walters. He shares many great stories based on that day in his book "Ice Bowl: The Game That Will Never Die." Then, with another look at the Ice Bowl, Jim and John welcome Chuck Wellens. He wasn't at the game but listening from halfway around the world! Plus, Ron Ummentum joins as well. He WAS at the Ice Bowl, and his photo was captured for all eternity. You can see him here in the goalpost as it was coming down. The report comes as the U.S. Census Bureau estimates there could be as many as 3.8 million evictions by October. At the same time, there is some glimmer of hope for renters. Realtor.com shows average rent prices were mostly flat compared to a year ago and employment data shows the labor market is rebounding following the pandemic. Today on Native America Calling, Shawn Spruce talks about the status of the rental market and evictions with Earl Tulley (Navajo), Emergency Rent Assistance Program manager for the Navajo Nation; Tony Walters (citizen of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma), executive director of the Native American Indian Housing Council; Coya Delfina Crespin (Acjachemen Nation), senior metro community organizer for the Community Alliance of Tenants; and Elizabeth Elliott (they/them), executive director for the Northern Circle Indian Housing Authority.

We here at Cinema Degeneration have declared May 2022 "Rutger Hauer Appreciation Month!" Twice a week we'll be releasing a show diving into a different film from Mr. Hauer's catalog of 175 film and television roles all throughout the month of May. The late Rutger Hauer, who unfortunately passed away in 2019, was a consummate professional thespian, writer, director, and devoted environmentalist, amongst many many other things. He graced the silver screen in many amazing shockers and brilliant films, normally playing heavies and villains and was known for his intense yet subtle performances. His amazing talent truly knew no bounds. For our 6th episode we bring you the film that Hauer is most known for, the unforgettable 1982 dystopian science fiction classic "BLADE RUNNER" from legendary director Ridley Scott and based on the Phillip K. Dick novel 'Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep?' Also starring Harrison Ford as the titular Blade Runner, a rogue mercenary like cop whose specialty is chasing down and 'retiring' androids / aka replicants in the near future of 2019. Join our hosts Cameron Scott (Cinema Degeneration CEO) and his co-host and filmmaker Tony Walters of RAD Entertainment as they talk about one of their favorite Rutger Hauer films. "All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to die."

The Richard C. Failla LGBTQ Commission of the New York courts sponsors public Pride Month events in every region of the state every June, except this year, with the pandemic, that wasn't feasible. However, the Failla commission and the Office of Diversity & Inclusion held a special Skype event on June 18th, moderated by Tony Walters, director of the Office of Diversity & Inclusion. In this podcast, we're bringing you the audio portion of that presentation.
Self-determination is a deeply embedded value within the National American Indian Housing Council. It is the driving force for its members, leaders from 570 tribes who advocate for the housing needs of American Indians, Alaska Natives and Native Hawaiians in 32 states. The shortage of affordable housing is a national crisis and is even more nuanced in native communities. Tribes own and manage their own housing stock and must navigate many levels of municipal, state and federal governance. And they often operate in rural areas, where a lack of running water and heating speak to profound infrastructure problems. It is all the more noteworthy, then, that NAIHC, led by executive director Tony Walters, has moved Congress to commit considerable funding to native housing in CARES Act legislation. It reflects a congressional recognition of the disproportionate impact of COVID19 in native communities, attributed in part to overcrowding in tribal housing, which makes social distancing impossible. Tony brings his lived experience, from growing up in Oklahoma to working in the executive and legislative branches, to amplifying the voices of powerful native practitioners on Capitol Hill. This is how change is made.
In this Diversity Dialogue interview, Tony Walters, director of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion with the New York State Office of Court Administration, discusses the history, mission and goals of his office.
