The 1967 NFL Championship Game was the 35th NFL championship, played on December 31 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.[1] Because of the adverse conditions in which the game was played, the rivalry between the two teams, and the game's dramatic climax, it has been immortalized as the Ice Bowl and is considered one of the greatest games in NFL history. NFL 100 Greatest Games ranked this game as the 3rd greatest game of all time. It is still the coldest game ever played in NFL history.

(00:00-27:26) – Query & Company opens on a Friday with Jake Query, Jimmy Cook, and producer Eddie Garrison debating who the Indianapolis Colts rival is now with Bill Belichick and Tom Brady gone from New England. They additionally look at some of the Wild Card Playoff matchups that are coming this weekend. (27:26-41:18) – In the opening segment of the show, Jake and Jimmy highlighted the AFC playoff games and issued them a star rating. They do the same thing now with the NFC playoff games. This leads to a debate between Jake and Jimmy. (41:18-45:48) – Hour one concludes with Jake quizzing Jimmy and Eddie what division NBA teams are in because of how irrelevant divisions are now in the NBA. (45:48-1:13:47) – Sports Illustrated NFL writer Matt Verderame joins Query & Company to preview this weekend's NFL Wild Card playoff matchups, weighs in on the debate between the Buccaneers/Eagles and Steelers/Bills that Jake and Jimmy had, accesses what the Indianapolis Colts need to do this offseason to help build around Anthony Richardson, why he was impressed with the Colts when he stopped by Indianapolis during training camp, and reveals which positions are deep with talent in free agency along with which positions don't have a lot of talent. (1:13:47-1:26:23) – With the Pacers starting their road trip tonight in Atlanta, Jake and Jimmy share some of the things that they want to see from the team without Tyrese Haliburton during this road trip. They also detail what kind of record they want the team to have during this important stretch without their best player.     (1:26:23-1:32:29) – The one o'clock hour concludes with the Jake talking about some of the trolls that are in his mentions. Plus, he asks for the coldest temperatures in the Ice Bowl and Freezer Bowl because he feels like the temperatures drop by 20 degrees each year. (1:32:29-1:59:53) – Co-host of the Wake Up Call with KB & Andy in Kevin Bowen joins Jake and Jimmy to share his thoughts of what Chris Ballard said yesterday in comparison to a year ago, if he thinks the signing of Matt Gay was a failure based off of him being one of the worst kickers in percentage, accesses how much he thinks it will cost the Colts to retain Kenny Moore, shares what kind of approach Chris Ballard will have this go around in free agency, and examines this weekend's playoff games. (1:59:53-2:10:58) – During our conversation with KB, it was announced that Washington's Kalen DeBoer will be leaving the Huskies program to replace Nick Saban at Alabama. They wonder if DeBoer was the Crimson Tide's first choice and try to decipher why he would leave Washington after building up the program to a championship level in just two years. (2:10:58-2:19:10) – Today's show ends with the JCook Plays of the Day, and JMV hopping on for a couple minutes to share his thoughts on the Wild Card matchups this weekend and explaining why he doesn't like Arrowhead Stadium.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Alpine Valley has been a staple of the Pearl Jam touring route going all the way back to Lollapalooza in 1992. In the seven instances in which they've played there, there's no lack of unforgettable shows and unforgettable moments. A few of the shows even have monikers that they go by such as PJ20, when they played there for their 20th anniversary, and the Ice Bowl in 2000 where they played a full show in freezing cold weather. In this episode, we're gonna go back to 25 years ago where they played their first headlining gig in East Troy. To help us tell the story, we've enlisted our Patron Aaron Redmon who requested this show. This was very early in Matt Cameron's tenure with the band, and there are some things that we'll hear out of Matt that show that he was still getting adjusted to being on tour with them. Songs like Do The Evolution and Brain Of J feature a harder edge than we're accustomed to today. This show will feature technical difficulties, botched lyrics and early indications that certain songs were ready to become massive crowd friendly moments. The two big moments to look out for are Black with a highly intense We Belong Together tag and Alive with an improv within the solo. With Alpine Valley being such a historic venue, we asked you to share your favorite moments from seeing shows there, which we'll share during our question of the week segment. And our Gear Guru segments this week will feature Mike's clean guitar sound on Even Flow, well deserved love for Jeff Ament and a tag of Jimi Hendrix's Machine Gun at the end of Yellow Ledbetter. John Biever was born in 1951 in Port Washington, Wi. He started photography working with his father, Vernon, who was the long time Green Bay Packer sideline photographer. John started shooting football in 1965 with him and recalls being at the NFL Championship game in Green Bay that year; Cleveland Browns, NFL legend Jim Brown's last game. He vividly remembers shooting the 1967 NFL Championship game in Green Bay, the infamous ‘Ice Bowl', played in -15 degree temperatures. A picture he took at that game, of Packer QB Bart Starr scoring the winning touchdown with less than 30 seconds to play, has been called one of the iconic photographs of NFL history. He was 16 at the time. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin in 1973, he worked 13 years at the Milwaukee Journal & Sentinel, before leaving to freelance in 1986. He became a Sports Illustrated contract photographer in 1988, and a staff photographer in 1998. During his time at SI, he has been privileged to cover major sporting events, such as the 23 Masters Golf Tournaments, and 10 Olympics, including this year's Games in London. He has been credited with 129 SI Covers, which ranks in the top five all time number. He is one only photographer to have photographed all 55 Super Bowl games. He is a 2-time winner of the NFL Photographer of the Year' plaque, awarded by the Pro Football Hall of Fame. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/matt-brown57/support

For those players who remain, the scars still run deep when it comes to the infamous “Ice Bowl,” played December 31, 1967, between the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys. There are players even today who suffer the ravages of frostbite and lung damage from a game many of the players never thought should have been played. As one player said, “It was just too damn cold. Who plays football in that weather?” But play they did in the minus 45 degree wind-chill (that dropped to 65 below by the end of the game) because the NFL championship, and a spot in the second Super Bowl, was on the line. What resulted was a game that has become part legend, part myth. There are a thousand stories from players and fans alike about a game that, more than 50 years later, remains embedded in NFL lore because of its sheer drama. Everyone remembers the remarkable way the Packers won, capping off a decade-long dynasty. The Cowboys, meanwhile, used the game as a building block that would propel them into NFL domination for 20 years. But what few remember is that this was. In every way imaginable, a game of survival, pitting man against the worst nature could deliver. This is a story about a football game, the men who played it, the people who watched it, those who were inspired by it and it's a story, even a half century later, that remains unforgettable.
