This week we look at a biographic movie that looks at a very limited (two year window) of the Reggae innovator Bob Marley and the Wailers. Love, redemption, forgiveness, and cultural revolutionary themes emerge from this movie. Michael and I recommend that you do some reading about Bob Marley prior to watching the movie - the focus is clearly on the music but there is life and soul behind the songs

Briannagh D's Links: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-4pERV5lMghttps://www.briannaghdennehy.com/Despite being 23 years old, New Jersey-born singer/songwriter, actress, and dancer Briannagh Dennehy has spent over a decade imprinting her mark on the music and acting world. At just 10 years old, Briannagh D presented her vocal abilities to ABC News in August of 2012, in which just 10 months later she would go on to perform at the Apollo Theater stage to compete in the Showtime at the Apollo's finalist round. From her appearances on Disney Channel's Bizaardvark to NBC's Emmy-award-winning television series “This Is Us,” the IMDb-credited actress has a promising acting future ahead. With her 2022 single "Run My Check" (feat. Jadakiss), Briannagh D dominated the music scene earning a #38 spot on the iTunes charts. Briannagh has continued to bring the heat in 2023 with her most recent release, "Elevate." Racking in over 1.6 million views in a viral Instagram reel, international talent group "Ghetto Kids" brought their Ugandan flare to the original "Elevate" choreography. By the end of 2023, Briannagh starred in a Nike commercial alongside LeBron James, Travis Scott, and Devin Booker. In the summer of 2024, she graced the St. Kitts Music Festival stage once again, with headliners Mary J Blige and Rick Ross. In November 2024, Briannagh D diversified her catalogue with the release of her first Christmas original, "Bad Christmas." In the summer of 2025 Briannagh D released dancehall-pop record titled "Realest Whine" featuring MC Lyte. Shortly afterwards, Briannagh attended the 2025 BET Awards, making an appearance on popular streamer Kai Cenat and comedian Druski's Twitch live stream, of which the stream accumulated over 6 million views. In July 2025, Briannagh D opened for "The Wailers," the legendary Jamaican reggae band formed by Bob Marley.______________________Follow us!@worldxppodcast Instagram - https://bit.ly/3eoBwyr@worldxppodcast Twitter - https://bit.ly/2Oa7BzmSpotify - http://spoti.fi/3sZAUTGYouTube - http://bit.ly/3rxDvUL#music #musicvideo #dance #dancevideo #acting #actress #school #entertainment #musicgenre #singer #singing #subscribe #explore #explorepage #podcastshow #longformpodcast #podcasts #podcaster #podcastshow #podcasting #worldxppodcast #viralvideo #youtubeshorts

This month we appear to be teleporting between CBGB's, Studio 54, The 100 Club, The Berlin Wall and some kind of prog gig in a field in Cambridgeshire as we battle over our favourite songs of 1977!We've each chosen our 10 favourite songs of the year and sent them over to Colin's wife Helen, who put the playlists together and distributed them so we were each given a playlist of the 20 songs from the other two hosts, along with our own 10. We then ranked the playlists in order of preference and sent them back to Helen, who totalled up the points and worked out the order. She also joined us on the episode to read out the countdown, which we found out as we recorded so all reactions are genuine. Now, admittedly, in parts we're a little bit brutal to some of the songs in the list as we're three separate people with differing music tastes, but please remember that to be in this episode at all the songs have to have been in one of our top 10's of that year.Bands featured in this episode include (In alphabetical order, no spoilers here!) - David Bowie, Chic, Commodores, Elvis Costello, The Damned, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Dean Friedman, Fleetwood Mac, Peter Gabriel, Heldon, Richard Hell, Billy Joel, Kiss, Fela Kuti, Bob Marley & The Wailers, Anthony Phillips, Pink Floyd, Plastic Bertrand, Iggy Pop, Queen, Ramones, Suicide, Talking Heads, Television, George Thorogood & The Destroyers, Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers, John Williams & The London Symphony Orchestra, Wire, Bill Withers, & X-Ray SpexFind all songs in alphabetical order here - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4Gh83sLsD9mCpQAIliafVB?si=49b9628e338d4c77Find our We Dig Music Pollwinners Party playlist (featuring all of the winning songs up until now) here - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/45zfDHo8zm6VqrvoEQSt3z?si=Ivt0oMj6SmitimvumYfFrQIf you want to listen to megalength playlists of all the songs we've individually picked since we started doing best of the year episodes (which need updating but I plan on doing them over the next few months or so), you can listen to Colin's here – https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5x3Vy5Jry2IxG9JNOtabRT?si=HhcVKRCtRhWCK1KucyrDdgIan's here - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2H0hnxe6WX50QNQdlfRH5T?si=XmEjnRqISNqDwi30p1uLqAand Tracey's here - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2p3K0n8dKhjHb2nKBSYnKi?si=7a-cyDvSSuugdV1m5md9NwThe playlist of 20 songs from the other two hosts was scored as usual, our favourite song got 20 points, counting down incrementally to our least favourite which got 1 point. The scoring of our own list of 10 is now slightly more complicated in order to give a truer level of points to our own favourites. So rather than them only being able to score as many points as our 10th favourite in the other list, the points in our own list were distributed as follows -1st place - 20 points2nd place - 18 points3rd place – 16 points4th place – 14 points5th place – 12 points6th place – 9 points7th place – 7 points8th place – 5 points9th place – 3 points10th place -1 pointHosts - Ian Clarke, Colin Jackson-Brown & Tracey BGuest starring Helen Jackson-Brown.Playlist compiling/distributing – Helen Jackson-BrownRecorded/Edited/Mixed/Original Music by Colin Jackson-Brown for We Dig PodcastsThanks to Peter Latimer for help with the scoring system.Part of the We Dig Podcasts network along with Free With This Months Issue & Pick A Disc.Bluesky - https://bsky.app/profile/wedigmusic.bsky.socialInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/wedigmusicpcast/Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/wedigpusicpcast/Find our other episodes & podcasts at www.wedigpodcasts.com

Fáilte ar ais chuig eagrán nua de Ar An Lá Seo ar an 17ú lá de mí Iúil, liomsa Lauren Ní Loingsigh. I 1981 cuireadh cúpla sheirbhísí bhus ar ceall I gcúpla áit de bharr go raibh easaontas ag dul ar aghaidh I CIE. I 1987 tháinig an nuacht amach go mbeadh 1,400 oifig an phoist chun seirbhísí bainc a cur ar fáil. I 2001 tháinig sé amach go raibh an club galf san Aonach Urmhumhan an ceann is fearr sa tír de bharr gur oscail siad chúrsa nua a raibh 18 poll. Thóg sé 20 bhliain chun forbairt a dhéanamh ag Beechwood. D'oscail an chlub I 1929 ag Lord Dunally agus tá sé ag dul ó neart go neart thar cúpla bhliain. I 2009 tháinig an nuacht amach gur dhiúltaigh an chomhairle chun eastát tithíochta a thógáil I mBóthar Leathan cóngarach chuig Caiseal. Ar dtús bhí cead acu 82 tí nua a thógáil ach rinne daoine achainí de bharr go raibh sé ró-mhór agus bhí siad chun cur isteach ar fhorbairt eile. Sin The Specials le Ghost Town – an t-amhrán is mó ar an lá seo I 1981. Ag lean ar aghaidh le nuacht cheoil ar an lá seo I 1975 chan Bob Marley agus The Wailers a chéad oíche sa Lyceum I Londain agus rinne siad thaifead ar don albam beo agus bhí an t-amhrán No Woman No Cry air. I 1995 d'fhág Robbie Williams Take That. Nuair a bhí sé sa bhanna ceoil fuair siad 6 uimhir a haon agus dhá albam a shroich uimhir a haon. Chuaigh Robbie Williams ar aghaidh agus fuair sé seacht n-uimhir a haon sa Bhreatain agus shroich sé uimhir a haon le gach albam seachas ceann amháin. Agus ar deireadh breithlá daoine cáiliúla ar an lá seo rugadh aisteoir David Hasselhoff I Meiriceá I 1952 agus rugadh amhránaí Tom Fletcher sa Bhreatain ar an lá seo I 1985 agus seo chuid de amhrán. Beidh mé ar ais libh amárach le heagrán nua de Ar An Lá Seo. Welcome back to another edition of Ar An Lá Seo on the 17th of July, with me Lauren Ní Loingsigh 1981: bus services in provinces were cancelled in CIE dispute. 1987: 1,400 post offices were to offer banking services. 2001 - Nenagh Golf Club boasts one of the finest inland courses in the country, with a new, recently opened 18-hole course capping over 20 years of ongoing development at Beechwood. The club was established in 1929 by Lord Dunally and over the years has gone from strength to strength. 2009 - PERMISSION was denied for a major housing development in Boherlahan near Cashel following appeals to An Bord Pleanála. Firestone Developments were granted planning permission to build 82 houses in Boherlahan, but the appeals centred around the scale, suitability of the development to local infrastructure, and existing developments. That was The Specials with Ghost Town – the biggest song on this day in 1981. Onto music news on this day In 1975 Bob Marley and the Wailers played the first of two nights at The Lyceum, London, and both nights were recorded for the November released 'live' album, featuring the single 'No Woman No Cry.' 1995 Robbie Williams left British Boy Band Take That. The group had scored six UK No.1 singles and two No.1 albums with Robbie in the group. As a solo artist Williams went on to score seven UK No. 1 singles, and all but one of his 14 studio albums reached No. 1 in the UK. And finally celebrity birthdays on this day – actor David Hasselhoff was born in America in 1952 and singer Tom Fletcher was born in the UK on this day in 1985 and this is one of his songs. I'll be back with you tomorrow with another edition of Ar An Lá Seo.
House music at its best! Let Dave Baker take you on a journey of discovery and aural pleasure as he brings you the hottest and freshest funky, deep and tech house releases every week. This is the show that's more on fire than the Tomorrowland main stage! We kick off with a more deeper and melodic vibe than usual with the amazing LP Giobbi delivering her awesome remix of a Bob Marley & The Wailers classic before moving onto Latin vibes courtesy of Per QX & Kry, Sam Frandisco & Steve Martano, and Jesus Fernandez. We ramp up the energy with tracks from TOYZZ, Joel Corry and Pickle and then the second hour is handed over to a lot of nostalgia with familiar tracks from the past given a 2025 makeover. If you love this mix please take a minute out of your day to comment against the episode 274 instagram post here: www.instagram.com/hothousehours/ Share the Soundcloud direct link with friends: https://soundcloud.com/hothousehours/episode274 Tracks released on July 11 unless shown. 1. What does the American Dream sound like? In this special Fourth of July episode of Fritanga, host Antonio Tijerino sits down with one of the composers of that dream: Emilio Estefan. Long before he became a 19-time Grammy-winning producer, a Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient, and one of the most influential Latino cultural architects of our time, Emilio was an 11-year-old Cuban boy arriving in Miami with an accordion, no money, and a belief in something bigger. A belief in this country. In music. In himself. From creating the “Miami Sound” to launching the global careers of artists like Shakira, Ricky Martin, and Gloria Estefan, Emilio's story is one of hustle, heart, and the rhythm of possibility. In this episode, Antonio and Emilio dive into:Emilio's journey from Cuba to the global stageHow immigrant resilience redefined American musicWorking with legends—and fighting for Celia Cruz's comebackFatherhood and creative legacy with his daughter Emily EstefanNew projects including Raíces, Gloria Estefan's first Spanish album in nearly 20 yearsBASURA, the new Broadway-bound musical co-created by Emily and Gloria EstefanThis isn't just an interview—it's a love letter to culture, legacy, and what it means to build something lasting from nothing.WATCH: Click here to watch this and other episodes on YouTube. The Senie Hunt Trio is a musical group fronted by Senie Hunt, a self-taught singer-songwriter and percussive guitarist who was adopted from Sierra Leone. His music is heavily influenced by his inherent passion for West African rhythms and percussion, which he initially explored through djembe drumming to process early childhood traumas from Sierra Leone's Diamond wars.Senie's unique guitar style merges traditional techniques with a percussive groove. He was influenced by artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, B.B. King, The Allman Brothers, Michael Hedges, Tommy Emmanuel, and Andy McKee. His experimentation with drumming on the guitar sets him apart from other acoustic guitarists, often incorporating live looping. The trio consists of:Senie Hunt on guitar and vocalsJenna Kopitske on drumsVictor Gonzalez on bassThe Senie Hunt Trio's music spans genres including Americana, Blues, Folk, Percussive Guitar, Reggae, and World Music. They are known for spreading "love & light while rocking out and embracing the power of music to bring people together". Senie Hunt himself has been recognized for his guitar mastery, receiving the Innovators award at the GSM Music Awards in 2020 and a nomination for best male act of the year by the New England Music Awards in 2021. Fáilte ar ais chuig eagrán nua de Ar An Lá Seo ar an 19ú lá de mí an Mheithimh, liomsa Lauren Ní Loingsigh. I 1965 fuair Cairdinéal Conway fáiltiú iontach nuair a chuaigh sé chuig Maigh Nuad. I 1981 cheap daoine nach mbeadh Fianna Fáil in oifig a thuilleadh ag deireadh an mhí. I 1981 rinne Comhairle Contae an Chláir cinneadh chun fáil réidh le cuid de a talún ag Drumcliffe. I 1992 ghoid duine 1,800 punt nuair a chuaigh siad isteach sa mbainc le scian. Sin Elvis le A Little Less Conversation – an t-amhrán is mó ar an lá seo I 2002. Ag lean ar aghaidh le nuacht cheoil ar an lá seo I 1984 shroich Bob Marley agus The Wailers uimhir a haon sa Bhreatain lena halbam Legend – agus d'fhan sé ann ar feadh 12 seachtain. Tháinig an t-albam amach chun comóradh a dhéanamh don tríú cuimhneachán óna bhfuair Bob Marley bás. I 1990 shroich Madonna uimhir a haon I Meiriceá lena hamhrán Vogue. D'fhan sí ann ar feadh trí sheachtain agus bhí sé a ochtú h-uimhir a haon I Meiriceá agus a seachtú h-uimhir a haon sa Bhreatain. Agus ar deireadh breithlá daoine cáiliúla ar an lá seo rugadh Boris Johnson sa Bhreatain I 1964 agus rugadh amhránaí Macklemore I Meiriceá ar an lá seo I 1983 agus seo chuid de amhrán. Beidh mé ar ais libh amárach le heagrán nua de Ar An Lá Seo. Welcome back to another edition of Ar An Lá Seo on the 19th of June, with me Lauren Ní Loingsigh 1965: cardinal conway last received a cheering warm hearted recpetion from the people of maynooth. 1981: fianna fail was almost to be out of office by the end of the month. 1981: Clare co.council decided in principle to dispose of a portion of its land at drumcliffe. 1992: there was a £1,800 bank withdrawal after a knife threat. That was Elvis with A Little Less Conversation – the biggest song on this day in 2002 Onto music news on this day In 1984 Bob Marley and the Wailers started a 12-week run at No.1 on the UK album chart with the compilation album 'Legend', released to commemorate the third anniversary of Marley's death. 1990 Madonna started a three week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with 'Vogue'. Originally planned as a B-side, it became the singers eighth US No.1 and seventh UK No.1 hit. And finally celebrity birthdays on this day – Boris Johnson was born in the UK in 1964 and singer Macklemore was born in America on this day in 1983 and this is one of his songs. I'll be back with you tomorrow with another edition of Ar An Lá Seo.

In 1981, Sting brought a demo of a song he'd been working on down to AIR Studios in Montserrat to see what his bandmates thought of it... and they wound up keeping the demo and just recording their parts on top. The result was "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic," an unusual Police song, but an enduring hit. On this episode, Kirk goes deep on every aspect of Sting's exuberant yet frustrated love song, unearthing the magic that lives in each piece of the music. This episode's subject was chosen by the Patrons of Strong Songs, who vote each season to pick one of the artists Kirk will cover on the upcoming season. Send us a message, so we know what you're thinking!Just because you're successful doesn't mean everyone likes you. In fact, success can often draw criticisms that might not be given to other performers. In Australia, we call that the “Tall Poppy Syndrome”, where people look for reasons to bring successful people down! We look at some criticisms (not by us - mainly!), of highly successful artists and try to find a reason for them. This month seems to have a host of rock star deaths! In Knockin' on Heaven's Door, we mourn the passing of David Lynn Thomas of post-punk group Pere Ubu; Drew Zingg, an American blues and soul guitarist, best known for work with Steely Dan and Boz Scaggs; Joey Molland from Badfinger, and Richard Chamberlain, of Dr Kildare, Shōgun & The Thorn Birds. Our “Album You Must Hear before You Die” is Bob Marley and the Wailers' “Catch a Fire”, a landmark album that established reggae as a musical force, influencing such artists as The Clash, The Police, UB40 and Eric Clapton. Called "the Wizard of Vinyl" by the New York Times, Chad Kassem has devoted his professional life to the cause of great-sounding records. In addition to running Acoustic Sounds, a go-to mail-order company for audiophile albums and equipment, the outspoken Kassem oversees the specialty label Analogue Productions, the Mastering Lab, Quality Record Pressings (QRP) and other related businesses, all based in Salina, Kansas. In this freewheeling conversation, Kassem discusses how Analogue Productions has been able to obtain and execute such projects as the Atlantic 75 Series and Steely Dan UHQR releases. He previews upcoming releases from Jethro Tull, Robert Flack and Bob Marley and the Wailers. And he gets into the joys of early recordings, the evils of compression, the market manipulations of record labels, his take on the One Step controversy and the reason a CD has never made him cry.
Episode 622 also features an E.W. Poetic Piece titled, "Huckleberry Frown." Our music this go round is provided by these wonderful artists: Thelonious Monk, Bob Marley & the Wailers, Mary In the Junkyard, Medeski, Martin & Wood, Branford Marsalis & Terence Blanchard. From impoverished roots on an island struggling to leave behind its colonial past, Bob Marley emerged; creating music that spoke with a universality, and which was beloved by people all over the world. His love of music was the backbone of his life, and his commitment to the Rastafari faith shone a spotlight on its ideals. But how did Bob Marley go from Kingston's most impoverished area, to becoming a global star? Why was his life so tragically cut short? And why does his music still inspire young musicians and activists today? This is a short history of Bob Marley. Written by Kate Harrison.
