In this episode we bring you up to speed on SOTP's recent doings, including our attendance at Bremont's recent event with Bike Shed Moto Co. in Los Angeles. The watch spotting was pretty epic, and so was the venue! If you're into Moto culture and live in LA, you've got to check it out. On a related note (it involves cool pilot watches, after all...), Matt scored an invite to "The Fighter Pilot Podcast" private screening for the premier of "Top Gun: Maverick". Most of the attendees were TOPGUN alums and instructors, along with a sprinkling of folks associated with the making of the film(s). The watch spotting at this event was also pretty extra. Check out FPP's youtube channel to watch Vincent Aiello host the most legit "fighter pilots react to Top Gun" video ever made! lol Thanks for listening. https://www.bremont.com https://instagram.com/bremontwatches https://www.fighterpilotpodcast.com https://instagram.com/fighterpilotpodcast https://bikeshedmoto.com https://instagram.com/bikeshedmotoco

When it comes to the need for speed… he’s the real deal.As a fighter jet pilot for the United States Navy, for nearly 25 years, he flew the F/A-18 Hornet and Super Hornet and the F-16. He accrued almost 4,000 flight hours, over 700 carrier landings, and served as both a TOPGUN Instructor and Air Wing Operations Officer.Today, this family man flies for one of the major airlines and hosts his own awesome podcast called, appropriately, “The Fighter Pilot Podcast.” There, he explores the fascinating world of air combat: the aircraft, the weapons systems, and most importantly--the people. And you should absolutely subscribe.I’m excited to chat with this amazing man, and fellow podcast host, about all things jets, life in the skies, what it feels like to be in control of something moving 1,200 miles an hour… and what his experiences around the globe have taught him about life back here on Earth.Check out Vincent's podcast, The Fighter Pilot Podcast, by clicking here and check out the episode we referenced about Call Signs right here: Click here to see Vincent on YouTube talking about how real fighter jet scenes in movies are!The books we referenced:"October Sky" by Homer Hickam *https://amzn.to/2PdRj8T"Lone Survivor" by Marcus Luttrell *https://amzn.to/3dJpjmZ"Tools of Titans" by Timothy Ferriss *https://amzn.to/2QK4vCVIf you enjoy this podcast, please leave a short review on Apple Podcasts by clicking here.To sign up for the Moonbird email newsletter, click here!Follow Daniel and the Memories of a Moonbird Podcast:Twitter: https://twitter.com/moonbirdpodcast/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/memoriesofamoonbird/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/MemoriesofaMoonBird/YouTube: http://bit.ly/MoonbirdYouTubePinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/memoriesofamoonbird/Want to start your own podcast?! After his initial training, he flew the FA-18 at El Toro, then flew at Cecil Field. His first deployment was on the USS George Washington. If a soldier is a military combatant that fights on land, and a sailor is one that fights on sea, then what is a 'fighter pilot'? On this inaugural episode, U.S. Navy ( https://www.navy.com/index.html ) Commander Brian “Sunshine” Sinclair visits the show to discuss what a fighter pilot is, some characteristics typical of most fighter pilots, and the various paths ( https://www.usa.gov/military-colleges ) to become one. We also debunk cliché Hollywood stereotypes while discussing what a fighter pilot decidedly is not. Towards the end of the show we discuss a few of the jets used in civilian organizations, including the F-21 Kfir ( http://www.atacusa.com/f_21_kfir.html ) and Hawker Hunter ( http://www.atacusa.com/mk_58_hawk_hunter.html ) flown by ATAC ( http://www.atacusa.com/index.html ) , the Super Tucano ( http://www.builtforthemission.com/ ) , and the L-39 Albatros ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aero_L-39_Albatros ).
