In a live panel discussion, two of the leading voices in modern luxury discuss origin stories, the importance of names, why you should open your first shop as soon as possible — and where they think luxury will go next. This week on aBlogtoWatch Weekly, the quartet is a trio. Ariel is away, and David is super-excited about the new collab between Bulova and IFL. He waxes poetic about the hand-painted artwork on the dial, and it's hard to tell if/when he might take it off. And he's impressed with the price (just 1,200 Euros, including a Bulova movement). They move on to discuss two documentaries about brands — Bulova and IWC — before taking a look at the latest Gerald Charles release. Semi-usual suspect Kevin Roberts joins the show, as does Guy Blaskey. Ripley gets tuned in and heated up about the contemporary face of Bremont (there's a parallel to spam — don't ask), and the fivesome banters about the topic, which is more controversial with each passing day. Then, the segment we all wait for: Hit, Miss, Maybe! Listen in.
In this week's episode, JCK editor-in-chief Victoria Gomelsky and news director Rob Bates Victoria discuss highlights from Watches and Wonders, including a Bremont relaunch, new Bulgari pieces, and Rolex's first new collection in 13 years. “Rolex has really thrown down the gauntlet,” with its new Dynapulse escapement, Victoria reports. Next, the pair analyze the effect the U.S. administration's initial tariff announcements had on the jewelry industry (confusion and worry) and offer some perspective on what may lie ahead in a time of rapid change and continuing uncertainty. Bremont CEO Davide Cerrato has been in the role for a little over a year at this point, and it's safe to say that 2024 has been a rollercoaster. The brand, rooted in British identity and aviation, unveiled a brand new collection, logo and strategy at its Watches & Wonders debut and has, in the months since, been experiencing the ups and downs of public opinion. We caught up with Davide a few weeks before Christmas and found the irrepressible anglophile reflective about the year that was for Bremont, but more than that, excited about what the future holds. One of OT:'s very favourite people is Chris Hall, the guy behind The Fourth Wheel Substack — which bills itself as an honest, opinionated and informative insight into watches and the business around them. Given that every week or so we're Chris' newsletter on the pod, we thought it was high time to get him back on and talk about his approach to reporting on watches and what his plans are for the Substack in the months ahead. Dave and Cam are back this week to continue the rant. They start with the Moser x Studio Underd0g "collaboration", then move onto Oris, only to take a final swing at Bremont. This week on aBlogtoWatch Weekly, Rick is joined by Ariel and Ripley, along with Kevin Roberts (@kevin_roberts100) Azad Zangana (@aztime), and Will Charlesworth (@inquisitivepheasants). The show begins with banter about bequeathing watches, and Kevin decides, impromptu, who's getting what when he kicks the bucket. When the guys get down to business, the first topic up is Chanel's purchase of 25% of MB&F. The team shares their thoughts on three new watch releases:, starting with lots of love for the Urwerk EMC SR-71, followed by the "weird" but "cool" Hublot MP-13 Tourbillon Bi-Axis Retrograde watch, which Ariel describes as "niche 1.5." Lastly, they hem and haw about the new Roger Dubuis Orbis In Machina, obviously a pun of a name. As always, the show concludes with a round of Hit, Miss, Maybe. Fratello On Air returns after a three-week break. Half of us traveled to Geneva while the other went to Florida. Both of us saw fancy cars, but only one of us saw impressive watches. The question of who might have a surprising answer! Watches and Wonders 2024 has come and gone and, frankly, it was a bit of a stinker.Watches and Wonders 2024 certainly delivered on the first half of its name. The second part? Not so much in our opinion. There were several nice releases, but we'll go on record to say there wasn't a shocking piece that set the watch world on edge. We discuss why it was such a dull event. Of course, we mention our favorites and bring up some of the questionable releases. We hope you enjoy the show!HandgelenkskontrolleBefore heading to our main topic of Watches and Wonders 2024, we spend some time talking about movies and television. Long flights and travel have allowed us to catch up on recent films and shows. As far as the Handgelenkskontrolle, Balazs is sporting a pre-production watch from TUUL watches. This is a military-style watch from the makers of B&R Bands from Brooklyn. Mike is wearing his L-Series Rolex Explorer 1016, a watch that came on his trip to Florida.Watches and Wonders 2024We move on to our main topic of Watches and Wonders 2024. Balazs was on the ground in Geneva while Mike covered some of the releases from South Florida. Overall, we felt this was one of the sleepiest years in recent memory. The color variants were more common than actual new watches. The new watches that did arrive weren't landmark pieces. As far as our favorites, we liked the Nivada F77, L.U. Chopard sector dial pieces, TAG Heuer Skipper in 18K, Zenith Triple Calendar Boutique Edition, and Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight GMT. We discuss the odd gold Rolex Deepsea, Cartier Rewind, Bremont revision, and Patek "Canadian Tuxedo" models. What were your thoughts on Watches and Wonders 2024? Did you enjoy it? We hope you at least enjoyed this episode and we look forward to coming back to you next week! If you have any thoughts for future shows, please let us know.

In this final episode of season 1, we have a heated discussion about display casebacks and power reserve indicators and then we mix things up a bit and talk about Bremont, Rolex Explorers, Green subs and Rolex case sizes.
For this final episode, Ben is joined by Davide Cerrato, the CEO of Bremont. Cerrato has had a long and successful career in the watch industry since starting at Panerai in 2004. He's probably best known for his tenure at Tudor, during which the brand relaunched in the United States and introduced the Black Bay line. But he's not all business; the jovial and well-dressed Italian brings his unique sense of style to the staid Swiss watch industry. After Tudor, he made stops at Montblanc and HYT before being announced as the CEO of Bremont in May 2023. The announcement came after billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman and Hellcat Acquisitions LP invested $59 million in Bremont in a funding round that the Financial Times reported valued the company at more than £100 million. As Cerrato tells us, Bremont is gearing up for a "relaunch" of the brand at Watches & Wonders in April 2024 – the first time it'll exhibit at the annual trade show in Geneva. In this Ben Clymer Presents conversation, Cerrato tells us about his vision for Bremont and the opportunities he sees, his 20-plus years in watches, and a little bit of Italian tailoring. // Show Notes // 2:00: Road Through Britain Episode 3: Bremont Watch Company3:00: Bremont Names Industry Vet Davide Cerrato As New CEO3:00: Interview: New Bremont CEO Davide Cerrato On His Plans For The Brand, What It Means To Be Made In England, And Developing A Hero Product16:02: Introducing: The Bremont Wright Flyer26:10: The Bremont Martin Baker MBII27:00: Bremont Military Watches And Special Projects (via Bremont's website)28:28: The Bremont Ministry of Defense Collection33:10: Introducing: The Rexhep Rexhepi Chronometre Contemporain II36:55: In-Depth: Luminous Dials, What Makes Them Glow, And How To Spot Their Differences

NEMO spent a full career as a fighter pilot in the United States Air Force, starting as an instructor in the T-37, the T-41 (Matt flew these!), and then moving on to the mighty F-15C. NEMO is a watch guy through and through, and spent a big chunk of time helping to build Bremont into the premier "military partner" watch brand that it is today. This one is EPIC! The "C Model"..? We talk about it. Early Bremont..? We talk about it. The best thing about this hobby- as we often point out- is the fact that so many cool people are involved. Matt came away from this one feeling grateful to have made a new friend. We think you'll feel the same way. Thanks for listening!

I first met Michael Pearson at a Bremont event in Los Angeles in 2018. Reacquainted in Chicago last year at WindUp, he now serves as the Global Director of Zodiac Watches, and man he's crushing it. We start off with some sales and management chatter which weaves in and out of the entire conversation, really, and Mike shares the story of a horrific car accident that he was involved in which certainly gave him a new lease on life. We then discuss his time working on cruise ships and we later get into some Landrover Defender talk. Mike is definitely one of my favorite people in the watch industry, which goes for many others as well, and I can't thank him enough for all of his insights into Zodiac and the watch world at large. In this quick minisode, Simon gives an update on the podcast to mark three years since its inception. Simon Brewer & Will Campion set up the Money Maze Podcast in 2020 to bring insightful interviews with proven business & finance leaders to all, without the burden of a paywall. We're thrilled that the show now reaches over 2 million people per year across our channels, with listeners in over 100 countries (despite us underestimating the various technological & logistical challenges that come with running a podcast!). We're driven by a commitment to opening up the investment and finance worlds, empowering our listeners with perspectives on business strategies & career tips. We're proud to be bringing more transparency to an industry which is often shrouded in the fog of jargon, and are especially pleased to be highlighting various female leaders and individuals from diverse backgrounds. If you have any questions or guest suggestions for the podcast, please email us at info@moneymazepodcast.com. Otherwise, we'd like to say thank you to all our listeners for following and supporting the podcast. If you'd have a spare couple of minutes, please do leave us a review on Apple Podcasts or Spotify, and we'd love you to recommend the show to a friend or colleague too! We'd also like to extend a further thanks to our first-class sponsors, Schroders, Bremont, LiveTrade & Mintus, for their continued support. Nick and Giles English are the founders of Bremont watches and serious gear heads. They love all things mechanical, especially planes and motorcycles, but they've also had a number of adventures in vintage cars. They even had had a hand in Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman's motorcycle circumnavigations "Long Way Round" and "Long Way Down". We talk about why they started Bremont, what it's like working with and learning from the Williams F1 team, crushing watches, working with Ian Callum, their new hangout, Bike Shed Moto Co, and nearly crashing a plane.
