We spend the whole program with Nadav Wieman, a former IDF sniper and now executive director of Breaking the Silence, an organization of Israeli veterans who expose the reality of life in the Occupied Territories and work to end the occupation. He and Ralph discuss Nadav's experience in the IDF and his work trying to turn the tide of sentiment in Israel against the ongoing genocide.Nadav Weiman is the executive director of Breaking the Silence, an organization of Israeli veterans who expose the reality of life in the Occupied Territories and work to end the occupation. Mr. Weiman served in a sniper's team in the special forces of the Nahal brigade and attained the rank of staff sergeant. He also worked as a history and literature teacher and was the legal guardian at a home for underprivileged teens in Tel Aviv. Now the soldiers that gave us testimonies told us that they came to the commander and said, "Okay, this is too much." And the commander said, "Listen, we lost too many dogs in the dog unit, so we're using Palestinians as human shields."Nadav Wieman former IDF sniper and Executive Director of Breaking the SilenceWhen the first soldier came to us in December 2023 and told us about using Palestinians as human shields, I thought it was an isolated event. But then another soldier came and another soldier and another soldier, and then we understood. It's a new protocol. It's called the Mosquito Protocol. “Mosquito,” is a code name on the radio saying, take a Palestinian man and put him in an IDF uniform, and in some cases a GoPro camera on his chest. And then soldiers were ordered to send them into tunnels to sweep the tunnels or into homes to sweep the homes.Nadav WiemanYou have another protocol called “Wasp”. The Wasp Protocol is Palestinians sweeping tunnels, but this time our Palestinians working with the IDF were brought from the West Bank. And they were told that they will get something from us, a permit or something like that.Nadav WiemanNews 5/16/251. Trump has abruptly ended the American war on the Houthi militia in Yemen, saying in a press conference, “You know, we hit them very hard. They had a great capacity to withstand punishment…You can say there's a lot of bravery there…It was amazing what they took. But we honor their commitment and their word,” per Prem Thakker. Behind the scenes, a New York Times report exposes the jaw-dropping waste that precipitated the U.S. backing down from this campaign. Some highlights include that the Houthis almost shot down an F-35 fighter jet – which run about $100 million apiece – that this campaign used so many precision munitions that Pentagon contingency planners grew “increasingly concerned about overall stocks,” and U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM)'s reported metric of success was “bombs dropped,” evoking the failed campaigns in Vietnam, per the Stimson Center's Emma Ashburn. All in all, this campaign cost $1 billion over the course of just 30 days.2. In more stunning news of Pentagon profligacy, CNN reported on May 6th that a SECOND F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet fell off the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier into the Red Sea following the first lost jet by just over a week. Each of these planes bear a price tag of over $60 million, according to the Navy, just in case you were wondering where your tax dollars are going now that Trump and Musk have slashed the budget of anything resembling a social program.3. In more foreign policy news, Edan Alexander, the last remaining U.S. citizen hostage in Gaza, has been released. Alexander was born and raised in New Jersey, then moved to Israel to serve in the IDF after graduating high school in 2022. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu was quoted saying “[Alexander's release] was achieved thanks to our military pressure and the political pressure exerted by President Trump. This is a winning combination.” Meanwhile Trump posted on Truth Social “Edan Alexander, American hostage thought dead, to be released by Hamas. Great news!” Despite this heraldry however, MSN reports Alexander “rebuffed” a personal meeting with Netanyahu. Counter Currents adds “In a video released by Hamas…last November, Alexander harshly criticized Netanyahu…[accusing] the Israeli leader of abandoning the…[hostages]…and urged Trump…to secure his release.” In this video, Alexander told Netanyahu, “You neglected us…We die a thousand times every day, and no one feels our pain.”4. In a similar vein, the Jerusalem Post reports, “The Trump administration's Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, criticized Israel in a meeting with hostage families…[saying] ‘We want to bring the hostages home, but Israel is not willing to end the war.'” Witkoff added “Israel is prolonging [the war] despite the fact that we don't see where else we can go and that an agreement must be reached.” Further, the New Arab reports “The Trump administration has…dropped its longstanding demand for Hamas to disarm as a precondition for a Gaza ceasefire.” This willingness to call a spade a spade regarding Israel's intractable opposition to peace, or even a lasting ceasefire – coupled with a seemingly genuine willingness to realistically approach peace talks – has been a marked point of departure compared to the Biden administration, which “Never Pressured Israel for Ceasefire,” according to Israeli Ambassador Yechiel Leiter, as reported in Drop Site News.5. Turning to some positive consumer protection news, “Ticketmaster will now show how much you'll pay for tickets — fees included — before checkout,” the Verge reports. This “All In Prices” initiative is an effort by the company to comply with the Federal Trade Commission's ban on junk fees. The FTC cracked down on Ticketmaster following the 2022 Taylor Swift Eras Tour “ticketing catastrophe.” In addition to the FTC, the Department of Justice sued Ticketmaster and its parent company, Live Nation in 2024, accusing them of “driving up prices as a result of their alleged monopoly,” while the House passed the TICKET Act in 2024, a law that would “force ticket sellers to show full prices upfront.” The Senate is considering that bill now.6. Meanwhile, Igloo has voluntarily widened a recall of their coolers, related to “possible amputation and crushing hazards,” per ABC. The Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a recall notice for a little over a million Igloo 90 Qt. Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers back in February, on the basis that “the tow handle can pinch consumers' fingertips against the cooler,” risking “fingertip amputation.” ABC reports this recall now includes “130,000 additional coolers, as well as approximately 20,000 in Canada and 5,900 in Mexico.” According to the CPSC, “since the recall was initiated in February, Igloo has received 78 reports of injuries involving the recalled coolers, including 26 reports of bone fractures, fingertip amputations or lacerations.”7. The first American Pope, Leo XIV, addressed the College of Cardinals on Sunday, in part explaining his decision to take that particular name. According to Business Insider, AI played a major role. The Pope told the college, “I chose to take the name Leo XIV…mainly because Pope Leo XIII in his historic Encyclical 'Rerum Novarum' addressed the social question in the context of the first great industrial revolution…In our own day, the Church offers to everyone the treasury of her social teaching in response to another industrial revolution and to developments in the field of artificial intelligence that pose new challenges for the defence of human dignity, justice, and labor.” In a January 2024 message, Pope Francis said “At this time in history, which risks becoming rich in technology and poor in humanity, our reflections must begin with the human heart.”8. Turning to domestic politics, 25-year-old Democratic National Committee Vice Chair David Hogg is fighting an uphill battle to remain in his post. The activist and survivor of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas school shooting has been a target of the party hierarchs since he refused to disassociate himself from the mission of the organization he cofounded – Leaders We Deserve – which seeks to primary “asleep-at-the-wheel” Democrats. On May 10th, POLITICO reported that Hogg sought a compromise with the party, vowing that he would erect a “internal firewall,” barring him from “accessing any internal DNC information about congressional and state legislative races as long as he was supporting challengers.” The DNC flatly refused. Instead, it would seem they are trying to oust Hogg by voiding his election, claiming it violated “fairness and gender diversity,” rules, per Semafor. On May 13th, the DNC's Credentials Committee voted to nullify the results of the February election, the Hill reports. According to POLITICO, the full DNC could “opt to hold a virtual vote ahead of the meeting later this summer. Otherwise it will take the issue up during its August meeting.”9. In Newark, New Jersey, Mayor Ras Baraka was “arrested and detained by masked federal immigration police Friday when he joined three Democratic congressmembers set to tour a newly reopened 1,000-bed [ICE] jail run by GEO Group,” Democracy Now! reports. This is the latest installment in the power struggle between federal agents and local officials over immigration, an escalation from the arrest of Judge Hannah Dugan in April. Dugan herself was indicted this week for supposedly “obstructing or impeding a proceeding,” per Wisconsin Public Radio. Alina Habba, U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey, tweeted, “The Mayor of Newark…committed trespass…He has willingly chosen to disregard the law…He has been taken into custody.” She added in all caps, “NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW.” Chilling words.10. Finally, we pay tribute to Uruguayan revolutionary, anti-dictatorship rebel and former president José “Pepe” Mujica, who passed away this week following a protracted battle with esophageal cancer. Mujica was celebrated throughout the world during his tenure as president for his humble lifestyle; He was called ‘the world's poorest president' famously driving a beat-up old VW bug and donating the bulk of his salary. In 2013, he delivered a bombshell speech at the United Nations in wherein he decried capitalism and the environmental destruction it has wrought. Pulitzer Prize-winning author and historian Greg Grandin eulogized Mujica, writing “He was a member of the insurgent, armed Tupamarus, and served 14 years in prison, much of it in solitary, subject to extreme torture techniques taught by US advisors… Upon his release, he helped build the Frente Amplio into one of the most successful left coalitions. He radiated humility and humanity but he knew that power was meant to be taken and used, and behind his smile was steel. He was 89.”This has been Francesco DeSantis, with In Case You Haven't Heard. Today, David Waldman reports that the Pope is Catholic. The results of the KITM investigation into the bears of our local woods will be revealed on Monday's show. 100% of the world's supply of Popes is now proudly made in the USA. (Available in S, M, & L.) White Sox fan Bob Prevost is now Pope Leo XIV, a new chosen name and identity most won't have trouble respecting. The Antichrist is laying low at the moment, but the Pope is already on the record with his biases, which to some theologians don't ring patriotic. Anyhow, Leo now has an advantage in future Thanksgiving table family arguments. Oops! The USS Harry S. Truman lost its third F/A-18 Super Hornet. Well, it has a pretty good idea of where they left them... Ever since Pete Hegseth decided to replace every 100 soldiers with a gorilla, things just haven't been quite the same. Pete can return to drowning all his troubles with fellow former Fox host Jeanine Pirro, now interim U.S. attorney in Washington, D.C. There's got to be some ambassadorship left somewhere for Ed Martin. Team Trump looked around and says, “Wait, are we the baddies?” Then said, “Meh” and broke for lunch. Laura Loomer wants to begin actual witch hunts. Trump Surgeon General pick Janette Nesheiwat had a troubled youth, with just a touch of patricide. Trump doesn't know why he makes these decisions, maybe Bobby told him to. RFK Jr.'s former running mate thinks perhaps Bob's mind is being controlled. The FBI will be investigating Trump prosecutors for whatever they accused Trump on. The EPA will discontinue the Energy Star program, after all, who trusts what the government says anymore?

Enjoyed this episode or the podcast in general? Send me a text message:Something extraordinary is happening in the skies above China Lake. A chrome-plated F-35C Lightning II and a jet-black F/A-18 Super Hornet—both operated by the secretive VX-9 "Vampires" squadron—are rewriting the rules of naval aviation. The chrome F-35C presents a fascinating paradox: why would the Navy deliberately strip away stealth from its premier stealth fighter? The answer likely involves countering advanced Infrared Search and Track (IRST) systems—passive sensors that can't be jammed electronically. As adversaries develop more sophisticated ways to detect stealth aircraft, this reflective coating might represent an adaptive camouflage experiment, effectively making the F-35 "invisible" to optical tracking systems.Meanwhile, the Lightning is undergoing its most significant evolution yet with the Block 4 upgrade package. After receiving new hardware through Technology Refresh 3, these fighters will gain remarkable electronic warfare capabilities that allow them to detect, analyze, and manipulate enemy radar signals. Imagine an F-35 approaching an S-400 air defense system, detecting its emissions long before being spotted, then using Digital Radio Frequency Memory jamming to make itself disappear electronically or appear somewhere it isn't. With enhanced networking capabilities, the F-35 becomes not just a fighter but a sophisticated electronic warfare node sharing critical battlefield data in real-time.The legendary VX-9 squadron continues pushing boundaries with their "Vandy-1" Super Hornet, recently spotted carrying an unprecedented loadout including air-launched SM-6 missiles (AIM-174B). These tests dramatically extend engagement ranges for Navy fighters—a capability that couldn't come at a more critical time given global tensions. From Block 4 upgrades to new missile systems, these advancements ensure American air superiority for decades to come. What's your take on these developments? Are we witnessing the future of air combat unfold before our eyes?

Kegan Gill was a US Navy Fighter Pilot (F-18 Super Hornet) and was forced to eject into the sound barrier as his plane was going down during a training exercise over the Atlantic Ocean. In the process of ejecting, Kegan sustained catastrophic injuries that literally ripped his limbs apart along with a severe traumatic brain injury. His body landed in the ice-cold waters of the Atlantic with a protective wet suit that had been ripped to pieces. With his parachute still attached, and unable to move his arms, Kegan was continuously dunked into the freezing water for two hours before his rescue. Luckily, his hypothermic condition kept him from bleeding to death. Kegan spent the following months focusing on his recovery, and despite his catastrophic injuries, he was eventually able to score a perfect PFT and was able to return to flight duty. Kegan recently published the book Phoenix Revival about his experience, and long journey through recovery: https://ballastbooks.com/purchase/phoenix-revival/ Today's Sponsors: Black Rifle Coffee: https://www.blackriflecoffee.com/energy BetterHelp: This episode is sponsored by/brought to you by BetterHelp. //The Wire//2200Z December 23, 2024////ROUTINE////BLUF: U.S. NAVY SHOOTS DOWN OWN AIRCRAFT IN FRIENDLY-FIRE INCIDENT. SUBWAY ATTACKS IN NYC CONTINUE.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE------International Events-Red Sea/HOA: Over the weekend a friendly-fire incident resulted in one F/A-18 Super Hornet being shot down over the Red Sea. Both crew members ejected successfully, with one suffering injuries. The aircraft was downed by the USS Gettysburg (CG-64), which engaged the aircraft with an as yet unidentified weapon system.-HomeFront-New York: A woman was murdered on the subway as a result of an arson attack. The murder was carried out by a Guatemalan immigrant, who was arrested following the extremely graphic attack. As of this morning, the victim has not yet been identified. In Queens, this morning two thieves were stabbed by an elderly man who they were attempting to rob. One of the thieves was stabbed in the chest, and died later at a local hospital. The other thief remains hospitalized with lacerations to his face. The elderly man was unhurt during the incident, and has not been prosecuted as the DA has stated he was acting in self-defense.-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comments: As the shootdown incident in the Red Sea constitutes a cascading series of exceptionally grave mistakes, the investigation into the downing of this aircraft is very serious. Prior to this incident, the last time a U.S. Navy vessel shot down one of their own aircraft was June 17, 1968, involving an F-4 Phantom and the USS Long Beach. This is the only other known incident where a U.S. Navy ship shot down a military aircraft from their own strike group (though this other Vietnam-era incident took place during the era where Identification, Friend-or-Foe (IFF) systems were in their infancy). This incident has further caused concerns regarding the risks to commercial aviation due to the observation that if the U.S. Navy cannot identify one of their own aircraft despite having a plethora of identification means, the risks to commercial aviation in the region are very likely elevated.Analyst: S2A1//END REPORT/

Fighter Pilot Survival: Kegan Gill's Battle Beyond the Battlefield In this extraordinary episode, Marcus and Melanie meet with retired U.S. Navy Fighter Pilot Kegan Gill, whose story is nothing short of miraculous. Kegan survived a catastrophic ejection from his aircraft during a training mission over the Atlantic Ocean, where he ejected directly into the sound barrier. The injuries he sustained in that moment were severe enough to kill most people – his limbs torn apart and a traumatic brain injury among them. But Kegan's ordeal was only beginning. Plunged into the icy waters of the Atlantic with his parachute still attached, his wetsuit torn, and his arms unable to move, Kegan was forced to endure a two-hour battle with hypothermia as rescue teams raced to find him. Miraculously, his hypothermic state prevented fatal blood loss. Following this harrowing experience, Kegan faced months of grueling recovery, eventually achieving a perfect Physical Fitness Test score and returning to flight duty. However, Kegan's journey didn't end with physical recovery. He began experiencing severe psychotic episodes due to his brain injury, leading to a stint in a VA Mental Health Facility. Pharmaceutical treatments only worsened his symptoms, and he endured dehumanizing treatment from caregivers who misunderstood his unique needs. Now, Kegan is finding renewed hope through alternative treatments for brain health. Through the Warrior Angels Foundation, he has discovered the power of nutraceutical and hormonal interventions, offering a glimmer of healing. Beyond his personal health battles, Kegan is a dedicated father and husband, working tirelessly to support his young family. Join us as Kegan opens up about his incredible journey of survival, resilience, and healing. His story is as inspiring as it is shocking – a testament to human strength and the will to overcome even the darkest of circumstances. Tune in to hear a story of grit, determination, and the relentless pursuit of healing against all odds. In This Episode You Will Hear: • When I was about 10 years old, my family had a friend that had a Cessna, and he took me up on this lawnmower with wings, and we went buzzing around, and it felt like a freakin' rocket ship. I absolutely loved being above the earth, and I felt so free. (6:26) • In May of 2012, I graduated as a winged aviator, and I got those wings pinned on my chest. (23:30) • [Marcus] It's an absolute transition into a different human being the minute those wings touch your chest. (23:52) • [In flight school] you showed up there, and you had your wings, and you thought you made it. They made it very clear you have not made anything yet. (26:30) • It just so happened on this day there was a 16 foot, 3,500 pound Great White Shark named Mary Lee directly under my airspace, and my buddy pointed out, “ Hey man, Today would be a terrible day to eject,” and an hour after having that conversation, I found myself out on what turned into a pretty freaking wild experience. (36:13) • [Melanie] Q: Is it common to eject?” [Keegan] A: It happens more than you hear about in the news. We lose a few naval fighter jets every year to mishaps. (37:06) • When you show up at flight school, they say “Look to your left and look to your right. One of you is gonna have a serious mishap or be dead choosing this job. Are you sure you wanna be here?” (37:39) • You think you're invincible, and you don't really think anything of it. (37:54) • Keegan tells the detailed story of that fateful day. (Starting at 41:16) • When I punched out, I got the initial blast from the ejection seat, and then immediately impacted the sound barrier with my body. At that speed, the human body is not aerodynamic. (50:53) • The aircraft impacted the water so fast, it just vaporized. (52:45) • They ended up wheeling me in, and treated me for severe hyperthermia. They took my core body temperature. I was at 87 degrees. [Marcus] “That should've killed you.” (60:09) • One of the more senior guys takes me into his office and he goes: “Congratulations, Lieutenant Gill. If you can figure out how to get your body working again, we'll get you back in a Super Hornet. (68:09) • My brain was just not working the way it was supposed to from TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury). (74:59) • I had a deep sense of betrayal from all that thought I had served. To see the treatment, it seemed like everything I was fighting for was a joke. (89:21) • I've had a number of psychedelic-assisted therapies that have been really helpful. (95:22) • Ibogaine has been studied pretty thoroughly at this point. It's showing that it triggers neuro-regeneration. (101:48

In this episode of the Afterburn Podcast, we dive into the possibility of replacing the A-10 Warthog with the F/A-18 Super Hornet. This episode is hosted by John "Rain" Waters who is joined by Patrick "Burt" Brown, an experienced A-10 pilot and Weapons School Instructor. "Burt" has presented the idea (see article link below) of replacing the A-10 with the F-18 Super Hornet in the United States Air Force. He makes the case for the Super Hornet, highlighting its asymmetrical capabilities, austere field capability, weapons loadout, and joint outside platform. The discussion also touches on the concept of agile combat employment and the importance of retaining the knowledge and skill set within the A-10 community. The conversation explores alternative options such as the Super Tucano, T-7, and F-15EX, but ultimately concludes that the Super Hornet is the best choice. The conversation explores the viability of using F-18 Super Hornets as a replacement for the A-10 Warthog. The main themes discussed include the need to preserve the knowledge and skill set of the A-10 community, the importance of maintaining production capacity for fighter jets, and the potential advantages of the Super Hornet in terms of versatility and asymmetry. The conversation also touches on the possibility of the Air Force acquiring Growlers and the challenges of organizational change and specialization within the F-35 program."Burt's" article: https://www.twz.com/a-10-pilots-compelling-case-for-replacing-warthogs-with-super-hornetsFollow along on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@AfterburnPodcastSupport The Afterburn Podcast for on Patreon and gain early access and AD Free episodes. India and France are negotiating a Rs 50,000-crore deal for 26 Rafale Marine (Rafale M) fighter jets. If finalised, these aircraft will be deployed on the Indian Navy's aircraft carriers, INS Vikrant and INS Vikramaditya. Why the Rafale M? The French Rafale M emerged as the frontrunner against its competitor, the American Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet. Why does the Navy need a new fighter jet? The Indian Navy's current fleet, primarily composed of ageing Sukhoi jets, is becoming obsolete. This decline in capability is driving the urgent need for new, modern fighters. But how does the Rafale M differ from the IAF's Rafale? Interestingly, the Rafale M predates the Air Force version. Despite this, France completed the delivery of all 36 Rafale jets to the Indian Air Force in December 2022, following a Rs 59,000-crore deal signed in September 2016. Why didn't the Navy and Air Force consolidate their orders together? A joint deal could have potentially reduced post-purchase costs. And why the repeated trials? If the government had already determined that the Rafale M was the best choice, why did they conduct another contest only to choose the same fighter jet again? We tackle these tough questions and more. Tune in and share your thoughts at pods@indiatoday.com or text us at 8588966996! Produced by Anna Priydarshini Sound mix by Kapil Dev Singh

Welcome to another episode, the seventy-fifth, of the Lessons from the Cockpit show! I am your host Mark Hasara and for over 60 years my passion has been aviation. The situation in the Red Sea and Gulf of Adan has everyone's attention. It's the continuation of the Proxy War between western powers and the Ayatollahs of Iran and their influence with the Houthi Rebels in Yemen, attacking shipping in one of the largest and wealthiest waterways on the planet. America and our allies have been here before, sometimes with tragic results. The USS Cole was nearly sunk in the Yemeni harbor of Adan after an al Qaeda suicide boat rammed into it. The weapons used are now much more sophisticated and supplied by other US enemies. But we are more prepared in my opinion to fight and win a maritime conflict in this region, which this episode discusses. With the U.S. Navy Blue Angels launching into their 77th year, the 2023 airshow season kicked off in grand fashion at Naval Base Ventura County, Point Mugu. The event not only marked a rare occurrence for both the Blue Angels and Air Force Thunderbirds performing at the same airshow, but also the Blue Angels paying tribute to CAPT Harley H. Hall, the Team's former Flight Leader and the last naval aviator to be shot down during the Vietnam War. Honoring Boss Hall's legacy and sacrifice fifty years after his disappearance on January 27, 1973, the Blue Angels extended an invite to his son, Harley Hall II, to participate in a VIP ride in the back seat of the Team's #7 F/A-18 Super Hornet. With his name emblazoned in the famous yellow Blue Angels font beneath the canopy rail, Hall climbed into the cockpit with one goal in mind, to make his father and all those that served with him proud. At the controls of Harley's ride the afternoon of March 17, 2023 was LCDR Thomas Zimmerman, the Blue Angels Narrator and # 7 pilot, who was charged with demonstrating the full characteristics of the Super Hornet. Enduring nausea-inducing high g-force maneuvers including the Minimum Radius Turn (MRT), Horizontal Rolls and the Carrier Break, Hall's genetic makeup prevailed as he completed the ride without passing out or getting sick. Upon landing, Hall was greeted by the entire Blue Angels team led by CDR Alex Armatas In this brand new interview, Harley Hall II opens up about the significance of the opportunity to honor his father at Point Mugu and the internal pressure he placed on himself to ensure he represented his family, the Navy and all those that served alongside father to the best of his ability. Hall also provides insight into the weeks leading up to his VIP flight, including a bout with illness that almost jeopardized his participation at the airshow. With great attention to detail, Hall discusses all aspects of his day with the Blues, including having Bill Switzer, a former F4 Phantom pilot that flew on Boss Hall's 1971 Blue Angels team, on site to support him. He also describes his appreciation for LCDR Zimmerman, Crew Chief Sean Donoghue and the culture of excellence displayed by the entire Blue Angels Flight Demonstration Squadron. Hall goes on to share several of the techniques he used throughout his flight to endure high g-forces without succumbing to a loss of consciousness and what it felt like to have seven times his body weight pressing him into his ejection seat. As the discussion comes to a close, Hall opens up about a moment of closure he felt in the hours that followed his ride of a lifetime. On this episode of Passive Income Pilots, Tait and Ryan interview Austin “Strobes” Hulbert.Austin was born into an aviation family and naturally gravitated toward becoming a pilot himself. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2005 and immediately moved onto obtaining his M.A. in Security Studies from Georgetown nine months later. He then attended flight school for two years and eventually landed in Virginia Beach, where he became an F/A-18 Hornet and Super Hornet pilot, completed a deployment on the USS Enterprise, and then became a flight instructor, all while spending his free time volunteering as an Emergency Medical Technician to give back to those who assisted him during the recovery of a tragic family vehicle accident during college.Once Austin ended his active duty tour in 2015, he went on to Harvard for “something different and new” and obtained his M.B.A. He then worked for a couple financial companies before starting his own business, Talos Company, which aims to find, acquire, and expand a high-potential business started by an owner who wants to move away from or retire from the business with a solid legacy. He has experienced and achieved so much in his lifetime and aspires to do even more than he has already accomplished. In this episode, Austin shares how his past family tragedy as a young man shaped his perception of life and propelled him into becoming an accomplished human being who takes nothing for granted and lives life to the fullest. He teaches us how being disciplined and having small mindset shifts can build success and positive reinforcement across all areas of our lives. His biggest piece of financial advice is to stick to the basics, be knowledgeable about how your portfolio is performing, and work with those who have your best interest in mind. Austin is truly an inspiration to the flying community.Enjoy the show!Show notes:[00:21] Intro[02:00] Tait and Ryan provide clarity on terminology used in the interview[04:10] Austin's background[07:00] What is life like on an aircraft carrier?[11:53] What Austin misses about living on an aircraft carrier[13:05] What would he never do again[14:20] Flying story as an instructor[17:36] The Good Friday Miracle[19:51] A transformative time in Austin's life and what got him through it[26:40] How Austin started his financial literacy journey[31:39] What it means wheLegal DisclaimerThe content of this podcast is provided solely for educational and informational purposes. In 2004, the USS Nimitz carrier group tracked hundreds of anomalous radar signals while preparing for a training exercise. Commander David Fravor, flying an F/A-18 Super Hornet, was dispatched to investigate one signal and encountered an unusual flying craft he described as the "tic-tac." This incident was discussed in the 2017 New York Times coverage of the Pentagon's UAP office, including the now-famous "FLIR" video. Today we're going to discuss the incident in detail, and why it marks a turning point in the UFO conversation. For the first time in three years, the U.S. Navy Blue Angels have a new flight leader. Cmdr. Alexander Armatas officially took command of the Naval Flight Exhibition Team on November 13, 2022, at a ceremony at the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida. He replaced Captain Brian Kesselring, who led the Team during its 75th anniversary and the transition to the F/A-18 Super Hornet. In this interview, Boss Armatas discusses his priorities and focus as the new commanding officer and flight leader for the Blue Angels, including getting to know each member of the Team, mastering the 45 minute air show demonstration, and ensuring his fitness and nutrition are optimized for high intensity flying and a rigorous schedule. With winter training in El Centro, California just weeks away, Boss Armatas also provides insight into the current flying syllabus and milestones the Team are focused on achieving, including flying the first Delta Formation for the 2023 Blue Angels. A native of Skaneateles, New York, Boss Armatas cites flyovers by a formation of F-16 Falcons from the New York National Guard and exposure to cargo operations at the Syracuse International Airport as early influences that sparked his passion for aviation. He also attended a number of airshows in London, Ontario, Canada during his informative years where he witnessed the Blue Angels perform for the first time. Graduating from the United States Naval Academy in 2002 with a degree in aerospace engineering, Boss Armatas earned his Wings of Gold in June of 2005 at Naval Air Station (NAS) Meridian, Mississippi. Initially assigned to NAS Lemoore, California, he served in a variety of different roles as part of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 115, the “Eagles” and deployed three times on board the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. In 2009, Boss Armatas graduated from the world famous TOPGUN course at NAS Fallon, Nevada before joining VFA-122 the “Flying Eagles” where he was named the 2010 VFA-122 Instructor Pilot of the Year. Transferring to VFA-14 the “Tophatters”, Boss Armatas supported Operation Enduring Freedom in 2013 aboard the USS John C Stennis (CVN-74). Following this tour, he reported to NAS Oceana in Virginia Beach, Virginia to serve as the Department Head for FVA-143 the “Pukin' Dogs” and deployed aboard the USS Harry S Truman (CVN-75) in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. After serving as a Strike Fighter Placement Officer for the Navy Personnel Command (NPC) in Millington, Tennessee in 2017, Boss Armatas reported to VFA-105 the “Gunslingers” where he served as both Executive Officer and Commanding Officer during his tenure and deployed twice aboard the USS Dwight D Eisenhower (CVN-69) in support of Operation Freedom's Sentinel. With the encouragement of former Blue Angels pilot, John Hiltz, Boss Armatas submitted his application for the Blue Angels after accumulating more that 4,100 flight hours and 911 carrier-arrested landing. He was announced as the Commanding Officer of the Blue Angels in April of 2022 and officially joined the team in August. 2023 Blue Angels Team1. CDR Alexander Armatas2. LCDR Chris Kapuschansky3. As a service industry professional, whether in the military or as a first responder. Accidents are inevitable, and you never know when they will occur. When you reach the point of no longer being able to serve, you might feel down or useless. This may be because you believe there are no opportunities for you outside. But, our guest for today will break through those false instincts that others tend to believe. Consider and realize a few things. Being of service to others is important, but so is being of service to yourself. You might be suffering from PSTD without realizing it. This condition was also discussed in today's episode. If you feel alone and want to speak to someone about the feelings you are experiencing, listen up. The topic for today might be helpful to you. Donald Ross has retired from the United States Marine Corps and worked as a contracting officer for many years. A sudden, unforeseen event led to his early retirement. It was then that he realized he needed to open his own business. Because he has experience in contracting, he and his wife started PAD Home Buyers LLC together, and they now run an Easy Button REI program using automation. Using Customer Relationship Management (CRM), they simplify the lives of Real Estate Entrepreneurs. As part of his work, he also established a Facebook group aimed at helping veterans and first responders. As well as having a YouTube channel, he posts videos about how he's helping others and his community. Why you need to check today's episode: Get to know what a real estate business is all about and what the term lease option means. Get a better understanding of the importance of real estate in your life. What you will learn about this business and how it can give you financial freedom without sacrificing your family time. Plus; Discover what your options are after leaving the service. What lies ahead for you after you leave? What is PSTD, and how can it affect your well-being and others? And why you must be aware of the importance of taking care of yourself before serving others. “Part of life is getting knocked down and, quote-unquote, failing. I'm not gonna say that you necessarily fail if you keep going, but failing and understanding give you something small, and each time, you get slightly better at something. That's really to me. That's been the key.” - Donald Ross Topics Covered: 00:35 “As a 21-year-old man, boy, whatever you want to call it, I found out I was having a kid. And I had to make some stuff happen and have insurance and do some things. And so I literally signed up for the Marine Corps.” A brief introduction to Donald Ross 6:02 - “When I got out? For me, I was lucky in the sense that I had got a four-year bachelor's degree. I have some certificates in logistics and contracting. And I was able to land a good job with Northrop Grumman on the F 18 Super Hornet program. So I started with them literally two weeks after I got medically retired from the Marine Corps” During the conversation, Donald recounts his activities after he left the Marine Corps. 10:43 - "There's a couple of differences in there. And these were all really good-paying jobs. And I was getting to a point where I was like, Dude, what the hell is wrong with me? Like, something's wrong with me because I'm getting nice jobs that people would kill for. But this ain't fun to me. And with that, I kept pushing on the real estate and did the first remote lease option. I think it was roughly $4500 bucks that I made from California in Wisconsin.” This is Donald's story about how he became a real estate investor. 14:08 - “ I had a separate piece of paperwork that was an option to buy. And they have then put down money for that option to buy. They didn't have to buy it, but they had the option to buy it, and I will tell you, I know because I was contacted by them later. They did not buy. So for me, I got to keep that money that I made because it was just the option to buy. There was no return policy, refund policy, none of that” Real estate businesses use a term called a lease option. What does it mean? 16:31 - “So essentially, somewhere where you're storing your data and working your sales process, and your customers' information. And so I tried using those that worked. I need to have some way of automating this process and having it where I can have it on the go.” In this episode, Donald explains how to manage your time effectively. For example, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) can help you with your business to make things easier for you, especially regarding sales. 21:41 - “I was being groomed to be a higher-up manager, actually, within the first year. But I also saw that that high level was at the time a lady that was in her 60s had a child that was younger, and she was literally answering emails on Sundays at 10 pm. And I already had a young daughter that just got born; I had a daughter that was about six or seven at that time. And it was like. This is not what I want from my life,” Despite a huge opportunity coming into his life, Donald remained true to his values. As a person who values family above all else, he realizes it is the most meaningful aspect of his life. More than anything, he wants to spend time with his family. 25:05 - “I'm now putting out different videos on resources for first responders and veterans. What different programs are out there, everything from PTSD, depression, how to buy a house, different things that I've been through in life, finding your identity, your why, and how you set goals? I mean, these are things that not everyone understands really well.” In what ways does he help veterans and first responders find their purpose and identity? The veteran acknowledges that not all veterans and first responders achieve their life goals. 43:05 - “So we've been reaching out to our members to see what we can do to help. How can we help them kind of figure out some of the numbers, maybe, and what other people are saying is working or not working? How are people adjusting to the current market and where it's kind of headed? So there's that focus on the CRM side of things. Obviously, the first responder - veteran side of things is putting out content and things that are available out there for our community.” A discussion of what Donald's group is doing and how they are helping their subscribers. 47:29 - “We got nailed with an IRS audit. I was not aware I have a fancy CPA that we pay. They did all the paperwork, and we filed for the tax credit that we got. And we thought it was the property and both buildings, and we have a large garage pole barn on the property. And they let us no, no, no, that is not the case. So you know, learning to learn as we go.” An interesting bit of information about taxes is shared by Donald. 59:31 - “Understand that part of life is getting knocked down and quote unquote, failing. I'm not gonna say that you necessarily fail if you keep going, but failing and understanding that gives you something small, and each time gets slightly better at something. That's really to me. That's been the key.” This a piece of advice he would give himself when he was younger Key Takeaways: “A lot of the PTSD issues. So if your testosterone levels drop down to 200, and you never get a check, you actually have some of the same symptoms as PTSD guys would. So this is one of the things that I really want to hammer home in this podcast is that ‘your health is very important. Whether it be mentally, physically, emotionally, or spiritually, it actually doesn't matter. So you need to pay attention to yourself inwardly first, don't ignore yourself to help other people. Because the long term, it's not going to benefit the people around you if you are beaten up, torn up broken down. So focus on yourself first, and you go out and reach out and help other people. Don't ignore yourself and use yourself as a stepping stone for somebody else until you're comfortable and confident and your abilities and who you are.” - Mike Foster “Now figure out, figure out what is your ideal day, week, month, year. And how do you get there? And maybe you don't have the full answer. You just have bits and pieces. And as long as you're making slight adjustments towards that each day. That's all I can really ask for. I think that the biggest thing is I was not happy with where I was at. And rather than bitching, moaning, complaining, and Tyler telling the world how unfair it was, I figured out a way.” - Donald Ross “I'm now putting out different videos on resources for first responders and veterans, what different programs are out there everything from PTSD, depression, how to buy a house, different things that I've been through in life, finding your identity, your why, how do you set goals, I mean, these are things that not everyone understands really well. And especially if they're younger, when they get out of the military, it can be super hard to figure out what they want to do and how to do it. And so life after serving is the group that I put together and the channel for a YouTube, and that's really what the purpose is, at this point, is how do I help other people that are part of our community and give them some different outlets and channels, and if they ever need help, who they can reach out to.” - Donald Ross Connect with Donald Ross: Instagram: REI Automation Squad (@reiautomationsquad) • Instagram photos and videos Website: REI Automation Squad YouTube: REI Automation Squad - YouTube LinkedIn: Donald Ross | LinkedIn Connect with First Responder Financial Freedom: Website: https://firstresponderfinancialfreedom.com/ Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/First-Responder-Financial-Freedom-104285545708905 Facebook Group:https://www.facebook.com/groups/516680892660393 YouTube: First Responder Financial Freedom - YouTube

Now, let’s get to the news, starting with Dr. Anthony Fauci! https://www.theepochtimes.com/fauci-reveals-exactly-when-hes-leaving-the-federal-government_4604550.html?utm_source=partner&utm_campaign=BonginoReport Fauci Reveals Exactly When He’s Leaving the Federal Government White House COVID-19 adviser Anthony Fauci revealed that after about five decades in the federal government, he’s planning on leaving his position by the end of President Joe Biden’s term. “We’re in a pattern now. If somebody says, ‘You’ll leave when we don’t have COVID anymore,’ then I will be 105. I think we’re going to be living with this,” Fauci, 81, told Politico in an interview published on Monday morning in confirming he’s retiring at the end of Biden’s term in office, which is Jan. 21, 2025. Fauci has been the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) since 1984. During the COVID-19, he became a household name when he became the face of the federal government’s COVID-19 pandemic response, often generating criticism from Republicans and conservatives about his generally dire predictions about the pandemic. Of his relationship with former President Donald Trump, Fauci said that “we developed an interesting relationship … two guys from New York, different in their opinions and their ideology, but still, two guys who grew up in the same environments of this city. I think that we are related to each other in that regard.” And if Republicans win back either the House or Senate in 2022, Fauci noted that he will likely be investigated by GOP lawmakers. But he claimed that regarding those investigations, “I don’t make that a consideration in my career decision.” However, Fauci has faced public questions from Republicans in Congress about his agency having given funding to third-party groups to carry out research in China. COVID-19, caused by the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus, emerged in Wuhan, China, and a significant number of U.S. intelligence officials last year released a report suggesting the virus may be tied to the top-level Wuhan Institute of Virology. Last month, amid questions from Sen. Roger Marshall (R-Kan.), Fauci admitted that he is not able to halt federal funding from being doled out to researchers in China. “The NIH [National Institutes of Health] is still funding research in China, at least $8 million since 2020,” Marshall said. “In the Intelligence Community’s 2022 Annual Threat Assessment, the Chinese Communist Party is presented as one of the top threats to the United States, along with Russia, Iran, Syria, and North Korea. To my knowledge, only China is receiving U.S. research dollars.” Later, he asked Fauci, “When will you as director of NIAID stop funding research in China?” Federal health agencies, Fauci said in response, “had very productive peer-reviewed highly regarded research projects with our Chinese colleagues that have led to some major advances in biomedical research.” “We obviously need to be careful and make sure that when we do fund them we have the proper peer review and we go through all the established guidelines,” he also said. https://dailycaller.com/2022/07/17/shameful-biden-admin-sold-6-million-barrels-strategic-oil-reserves-china/ Biden Admin Has Sold Nearly 6 Million Barrels Of Strategic Oil Reserves To China The Biden administration sold nearly six million barrels of oil from its Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) since July 2021 to a Chinese state-run energy firm, according to a Daily Caller News Foundation review of Department of Energy (DOE) data. From July 2021 until the end of June 2022, Biden’s energy department auctioned off 5.9 million barrels of strategic reserve oil to Unipec, the trading division of the Chinese state-owned Sinopec, in an effort to increase the supply of oil globally and drive down fuel costs in the U.S. that were exacerbated by the war in Ukraine and Biden’s climate policies. SPR oil is sold to the highest bidder, and some of the businesses entitled to make bids are American subsidiaries of foreign corporations like Unipec The DOE sold four million barrels to Unipec in the fall of 2021, almost six months before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, making over $252 million from the sale, according to the FY22 Emergency Drawdown No. 2 Successful Awards Report. Each barrel was sold on average for roughly $63, or over eight dollars less than the average price of oil per barrel that month. “I think it takes a bad policy and makes it worse,” Ben Lieberman, a senior fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, told the Daily Caller News Foundation. In July 2022 the DOE sold 950,000 barrels to Unipec for roughly $113 million, according to the FY22 Emergency Drawdown No. 3A Successful Awards Report. While the Biden administration claimed the sales will help the U.S. fight “Putin’s price hike,” Unipec is still buying large quantities of Russian oil, according to Bloomberg. “It’s helping out a bit, but it’s still a very bad policy,” Lieberman told the DCNF. “The fact that we’re using the Strategic Petroleum Reserve rather than drilling offshore or getting more oil to the United States through the Keystone XL pipeline, the fact that we’re not doing these things is really pretty shameful.” In April, the DOE also sold 950,000 barrels to Unipec, according to a DOE report. “The Strategic Petroleum Reserve never really was a substitute for that and now to hear that this oil is going to China is problematic because it undercuts their rationale even more,” said Lieberman. “Biden’s policy just shows that he’s not putting American consumers and the American economy first or second or even third.” The DOE, the White House and Sinopec did not respond to the DCNF’s request for comment. In total, Congress sanctioned $58.55 billion in additional funds, according to the report. This includes $25.70 billion for operations and maintenance, $17.67 billion for procurement, $9.89 billion for research, development, test, and evaluation, $4.32 billion for military construction, and $947 million for military personnel. The DOD initially had a base budget appropriation of $742.3 billion for fiscal 2022. As such, the extra $58.55 billion represents an almost 8 percent increase from the base budget. The Pentagon did not put in a request for any of the programs funded with the extra $58.55 billion. These programs are not even in the so-called unfunded priorities lists—made up of items not included in the budget but considered critical—that departments and officers send to Congress annually. For instance, roughly $4 billion was granted for half a dozen ships that were not on the unfunded priorities list. Similarly, the Navy received $900 million for a dozen Super Hornet jets, the Air National Guard got $1.8 billion to purchase 16 C-130J transport planes, and $460 million was granted for developing advanced jet engines. Over $2 billion in extra funds was appropriated for classified programs. The $58.55 billion calculation only takes into account individual additions totaling $20 million or more. Since there are usually many spending hikes in the single-digit millions, the total actual excess funding will likely be higher. In an email to Roll Call, Steve Ellis, president of Taxpayers for Common Sense, a government spending watchdog group, called for more efficient military budgets. “Certainly Congress has the power of the purse, but considering the Pentagon got more than $750 billion that year, lawmakers could work within that generous budget to reflect their priorities … Instead, they dumped more than $50 billion across accounts for what appear to be in some cases very parochial interests.” Since fiscal 2017, the Pentagon’s base budget has risen by 48 percent. The recently passed House version of the 2023 defense budget ups the funding received by the Pentagon, authorizing $839 billion in military spending—$37 billion more than was requested by the administration. And now, it’s time for the topic that I love… sports! You all know we’re on the Fight Laugh Feast Network, so now let’s talk about some fighting… https://nypost.com/2022/07/17/bronx-native-shane-burgos-now-7-0-in-ufc-bouts-in-new-york/ Bronx native Shane Burgos now 7-0 in UFC bouts in New York Shane Burgos’ record remains perfect in the Empire State. He can thank one hell of a chin for that. The Bronx native, who expressed displeasure with his performance, nevertheless managed to hold on for a majority decision victory over Charles Jourdain on Saturday at UBS Arena in featherweight action during the UFC’s first Long Island event in five years. The win moved him to 7-0 in UFC bouts in his home state. Shane Burgos hates how he ended the fight against Charles Jourdain | ESPN MMA - Play 2:25-3:52 Fans anticipated a clash of action-oriented strikers entering the main-card bout. But for two rounds, Burgos was a grappling beast and Jourdain simply couldn’t handle him. Burgos and his Tiger Schulmann’s MMA team anticipated that strategy would work. In a nifty moment early on, Burgos pushed off the octagon to help secure Jourdain’s back and to attack a rear-naked choke from the body triangle in the highest spot of the first round. He took the back with a standing body triangle again the following round, keeping it longer this time. The expected war on the feet broke out in the final round, but the battle was largely one-way traffic. Jourdain cracked Burgos often, besting the local favorite in significant strikes 84-26, per UFC Stats. Now let’s check in on some baseball standings, as I’m sure we’ve got some baseball fans in our audience: Starting in the American League AL East: The New York Yankees are firing on all cylinders, with a 64-28 record, leading all clubs across the Majors as far as best record goes. The second closest record in the AL East goes to the Tampa Bay Rays, a full-13 games back. It’s a close race in the AL Central, as the Minnesotta Twins are leading the way with a 50-44 record, and two teams are nipping at their heels. The Cleveland Guardians, or Indians as I’ll continue to call them, are standing at 46-44. While the Chicago Whitesox sit at 46-46. In the AL West, it’s a two team race featuring the Houston Astros, and the surprisingly hot Seattle Mariners! The Astros sit at 59-32, and the Mariners are 51-42. By the way, the Mariners are on a 14-game winning streak, and on top of that, the Astros and Mariners have a three game series starting this Friday! Over to the National League, the Mets & the Braves are separated by 2.5 games atop the east. In the NL Central, the Brewers are only ahead of the Cardinals by half a game. Each of them have 50 wins a piece. And finally, in the NL West, the Dodgers lead the way with the second best record in baseball, at 60-30. After many recent episodes discussing how 1986's Top Gun and this year's Top Gun: Maverick are "movies, not documentaries," it seemed appropriate to round out 'Top Gun Month' (which ended up being two months) with a look at the 2008 Naval Aviation story that is a documentary. This week, episode 20 of the F-14 Tomcast is repurposed to further share the story of how Speed & Angels came to be. Tomcast hosts Crunch & Bio welcome past FPP guest Paco Chierici and Meagan "Vargas" Varley who describe how the documentary was imagined and filmed.Listener questions addressed on this episode include why a pair of aircraft were needed to attack the target in Top Gun: Maverick, inclement weather considerations for fighter cockpits, Super Hornet afterburner use during catapult shots, and why grown men are weeping during Top Gun: Maverick.Top Gun anthem covered by Jaime Lopez / announcements by Clint Bell.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-fighter-pilot-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands
Kegan spent the following months focusing on his recovery, and despite his catastrophic injuries, was eventually able to score a perfect PFT and was able to return to flight duty. Due to his traumatic brain injury, Kegan began to experience severe, but temporary, psychosis. After being rushed to the emergency room during a psychotic episode, Kegan was admitted to a VA Mental Health Facility. Kegan did not react well to pharmaceutical treatments, and in many ways, they made him feel worse. After explaining this to his caregivers, they treated him as a troublemaker and began doing things like keeping him up all night long by flashing a flashlight in his eyes every 15 minutes. Kegan has since been seeking alternative treatments for his brain health. He found the Warrior Angels Foundation several months ago and is on the path to recovery through nutraceutical and hormonal interventions.
