“This is what edits are supposed to sound like.” ~Juno Records In 2014 after nearly a decade of collecting records, and playing various roles in the dance music scene of Detroit and West Michigan, the Pontchartrain moniker was born. What began as tools for his own personal dancefloor use turned into head-turning release after release of his vision for edits of forgotten classics and sample-heavy house cuts. In a short couple of years, his release catalog has gained support from various well respected artists, garnered him international bookings and acclaim, and earned him the A&R position for Sleazy McQueen’s highly sought after Whiskey Disco imprint. The sounds he chooses, reflect the obvious influences from Detroit’s past, with a new face and ideology that continues to entertain and surprise. Paxahau Radio Episode 008 - @pontchartrain
Hosted & Edited by Chen YinnRecorded live at Waiting Room 16.07.08Mixed by PonchartrainPonchartrainThe underground music community is known for pushing limits, setting trends, and influencing people and art far beyond its initial reach. Detroit native and resident Pontchartrain has been fortunate enough to realize this and use it in developing his project from a unique vantage point, resulting in one of the most wide-ranging, yet refined sounds in the new generation of underground DJs. At a glance it's no mystery that the music and style of the past form the basis for his eclectic sets. But it's how they are pieced together that makes his sound stand out. Pontchartrain takes the greatest things about all forms of independent and underground dance music across the past four decades and combines them together with the meticulous attention to detail of someone who not only loves the craft, but loves learning, researching, and doing it right. His sets are a collection of sounds that pushed boundaries throughout the years, and presented in a way that makes new audiences discover them for the first time, and old audiences rediscover them in brand new ways. For about 10 years, Pontchartrain simply prided himself in his ability to learn and perfect, but in the last two years alone, his sets and productions have been catapulted by the recent rise in the resurgence of vinyl and a refocused attention directed at classic dance music. In addition to serving as A&R for the powerhouse edits label, Whiskey Disco, Pontchartrain has releases on Kolour Ltd, Editorial, Masterworks Music, Hot Digits and more.Recently, he and Whiskey Disco boss, Sleazy McQueen's newly formed label Lovedancing, earned him much acclamation with his initial Burnin' EP, which has already been repressed. He is currently taking bookings worldwide and regularly tours North and South America, with plans for an Asian and European tour starting in early 2016.Booking: dustin@pontchartrain.usWeb: www.pontchartrain.usFacebook: facebook.com/pontchartrainmusicSoundcloud: soundcloud.com/pontchartrainBooking: dustin@pontchartrain.usWeb: www.pontchartrain.usFacebook: facebook.com/pontchartrainmusicSoundcloud: soundcloud.com/pontchartrain

Todays guest in our podcast series plumbs the deeper ends of house and has turned in some serious tackle for Kolour, Whiskey Disco and Masterworks over the past while. We love his almost underwater disco and the state of hypnosis we find ourselves under when we listen to his productions. Frenchman 'Closed Paradise' not his real name surprisingly, has turned in a vinyl only mix leaning on his classic house influences and it's a breath of fresh air to say the least. That 'Precious Little Diamond' Remix.......you'll see.

As owner of the record label Whiskey Disco, Sleazy McQueen has helped to give the 'Nu-Disco' scene an element of referential class. With remarkably well produced re-works and originals, the Sleazy sound combines the dirty fun of seventies funk with the hypnotic rhythms of deep house. As a dj, he has travelled from Asia to Europe, both Americas and a constant tour of the United States. His music productions have been licensed to over 100 releases, remixes & edits on labels worldwide, including, but not limited to; Bearfunk, Headtunes Music, Compost, Paper Recordings & House Arrest.
