Das war ja eine schöne Reise. Fast 8.000 Kilometer haben wir hinter uns gebracht, um Beate Baumgartner zu treffen. Beate kennt man hierzulande unter dem Namen Yola B als Sängerin von Parov Stelar und DELADAP. Und die Reiferen unter euch werden sich erinnern: Sie war in der allerersten Staffel von Starmania zu erleben. Die Tochter einer sehr bekannten namibischen Schauspielerin und TV-Moderatorin und eines Steirers lebt jetzt wieder mehr oder minder fix in Windhoek. Wir hatten übrigens das große Glück, einige Tage nach der Podcast-Aufnahme auch ein Konzert von Beate live in einem fantastischen Club zu erleben. Im Gespräch führt sie uns noch einmal in die Anfangszeit der Castingshows, sie vergleicht das Leben in Österreich mit dem im südlichen Afrika, sie erzählt über Tourneen durch die halbe Welt. „Das Publikum ist hier erst mal ganz anders. Wenn es den Leuten gefällt, tanzen sie, aber sie applaudieren nicht dabei.“ Beate lässt uns auch hinter die touristischen Kulissen blicken. Über die Unterschiede zwischen Stadt und Land. En la presente hacemos un paseo bien definido en el enunciado. Comenzamos con acordes de swing de muy diferentes registros sonoros. Así, nos encontraremos con acordes muy clásicos como el que nos trae Dr. Rojo Con Lunares y Adrián Quesada. Otros semejantes a la línea interpretativa de Frank Sinatra aportado por Club Des Belugas & Iain Mackenzie. También oiremos swing en español en el corte tocado por Burning Caravan.En la segunda parte de electro-swing podremos disfrutar de elementos de swing vintage combinado con instrumentos, ritmos y electrónica actuales. Destacar la presencia de Parov Stelar, reconocido padre del electro-swing que no podía faltar a esta cita.La tercera y última parte suena al compás del idioma árabe y del aporte que sus característicos sonidos llevan a cabo en otros estilos. El arabo-afro nos lo trae Hamid Baroudi. Por su parte Akli D y Nazan Oncel interactúan entre lo árabe y la balada susurrante. El raï más tradicional nos lo muestran Faudel y Cheb Khaled. La versión de un clásico la interpreta Hande Yener. Y el árabo pop la encontraremos en Djamel Laroussi.

A mí me pasa a menudo: cuando me pongo a buscar música nueva para el próximo Episodio, escucho infinidad de cosas; muchas de autores que son viejos conocidos y por tanto ya sé de qué pie cojean; pero muchas otras las voy descubriendo a golpe de machete, abriéndome paso en una espesa maraña de millones de propuestas que salen a mi encuentro intentando seducirme. Entonces voy apartando follaje, ramas y lianas, sacudiéndome cientos de cosas que no me dicen nada, despejando el camino intentando hacer un poco de luz y escogiendo material selecto para componer 2 horas de un viaje iniciático hacia donde tú quieras llegar. Ésas músicas desmadejadas de entre toda la maleza son mis músicas esquivas.
