An honest discussion about all levels of Minnesota hockey.
Welcome, welcome! In today's episode, Derek (@CreaseAndAssist) and Theresa (@MNSOTA24) talk about the back to back Walter Cup Champions, our Minnesota Frost. They talk both about the players who were key to the win, but perhaps more importantly, who the team should protect in this off-season's dispersal draft (similar to the NHL expansion draft). For the Minnesota Frost and their fellow PWHL teams, it's going to be an interesting offseason for all. Hopefully it's not as detrimental as the Vegas expansion draft was to the other 30 NHL teams. Next, they tackle the David Jiricek situation, as longtime former NHL scout and now TSN analyst Craig Button spoke with The Athletic's Joe Smith. They then round out the show with the money/contract situation for Minnesota's Marco Rossi, and what will ultimately be the numbers. If you would like to be a part of the conversation, please Tweet at either of us or Kalisha (@KalishaTownsell) on either X/Twitter or BlueSky and use the hashtag #CreasePodcast. Happy listening!
Happy Memorial Day Weekend. In this episode, Derek (@CreaseAndAssist), Kalisha (@KalishaTownsell), and Theresa (@MNSOTA24), once again discuss the future with the Wild of Marco Rossi. However, it's more of an aside, as once again we're in the middle of discussion of who the fans want on the team and who management will be able to get into a Wild uniform. Those players, being the two Brocks, Boeser and Nelson, Mitch Marner, and Tage Thompson. We then discuss the words of former NHLer Jaroslav Spacek in regards to his son David who has been a fantastic role player for the Iowa Wild but never gets the chance in Saint Paul. We round out today's show looking at some news around the hockey world, and then add our own farewell to ESPN's Around the Horn, who just aired their last show after it's impressive 23 years on the air. Once again many thanks to all of you who add comments to our posts and polls and also ask us questions that they want our take on. Without your great contributions, we certainly would have a less dynamic show. Now, go have a safe Memorial Day weekend, as we unofficially welcome the start to the summer season!
In this episode, Derek (@CreaseAndAssist), Kalisha (@KalishaTownsell), and Theresa (@MNSOTA24) react to the Wild's end of season player interviews as well as Wild General Manager Bill Guerin and Head Coach John Hynes' press conference. What did they say and perhaps just as important, not say. In addition, we have fan reactions to some of those statements, including whether dealing Marco Rossi is a good idea or whether they should keep Gustav Nyquist or not.If you would like to join the conversation, post at us using the hashtag #CreasePodcast on either X (Twitter) or BlueSky!

In today's episode, join Derek (@CreaseAndAssist), Kalisha (@KalishaTownsell), and Theresa (@MNSOTA24) as the look towards the upcoming first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Between looking at poll results about the Wild's chances of getting out of the first round and how many games newly signed Zeev Buium will play in the first round (and looking at the numerous comments those two questions generated), we have a pretty realistic view of what this year's Minnesota Wild can hope for. Mind you, most of us are hoping for the results created by rose-tinted glasses, but as Minnesota sports fans, we know to temper our expectations. We rounded out the episode looking at news around the hockey world, whether it be sad, maddening, or joyful. If you want to be part of the conversation, either ask any of us a question and use the hashtag #CreasePodcast, and we'll be sure to add it to the next episode. For those of you who celebrate the Easter holiday, have a great time with your family, and we'll see you again in a couple of weeks.

Thanks to you our listeners, for the numerous comments to our two poll questions. They certainly provided lots of perspective for us to discuss. Also as we mentioned, please consider donating to the Go Fund Me for David LaVaque's medical bills due to a stroke that he suffered.
