A few lessons learned from this Thanksgiving at 26 years old. 1.Not having a strong support system outside of my ride or die friends who were also on the party train, compelled me to believe that I was emotionally alone much of the time.  This feeling of loneliness, even when you are surrounded by people, is a driving force to go to bars, go get drunk because that is how one gets immediate company and a false sense of community. 2.Tofurkey is not a real food. 3.My life had been designed, constructed around drinking, drinking activities and other people who drank,  And so If I didn't drink or didn't want to, that would mean an identity crisis which our minds try to avoid at all costs.Happy Thanksgiving y'all!Love,Jess and @the_mindful_drinking_movementConnect with me! Katie talks about helping out with the human traffick at work which set off some kind of alarm, Jenn and Luke went to Tunnel Park in Holland, MI to find some excellent rocks but were not able to find much and have made some plans to go up north to the Ludington area and search for some more excellent rocks at Moogle Crick. Next, we check our viewer email and find that the show has been invited to a Fauxgiving celebration and we try to decide whether or not we are going. Since they're going to have a Tofurkey, Snoop Dogg will be there, Edward gets to hit on every woman there and Luke will bring back the sabotage... we can't go. Turns out that some of us can't because of the vagina-dick-and-balls and others because they don't want to. Thanks anyway! Maybe next year. This weeks game is hosted by Edward and involves classic literature. How does that translate into this dum-dum podcast... who knows?! This week, a whole lot of Americans will sit down to Thanksgiving turkeys raised on farms; turkeys that have eaten corn and soybeans that needed land and fertilizer and other resources to grow. And although those turkeys are way better for the climate than beef (which is why Thanksgiving is way better for the climate than the Fourth of July), they're still the most emissions-intensive part of the meal outside of Tofurkey or wild turkey.  In this first ever Thanksgiving episode of Climavores, Mike and Tamar break down the climate impact of America's ultimate food holiday – from cranberries to sweet potatoes. Spoiler alert: it's not bad! They also reflect on the intimate connection Native Americans and early settlers had with their food and the land. And they give thanks for the less than one percent of Americans who grow our food.   Plus, Tamar remembers her mother. Lance compares Turkey versus ham, versus Vegan, people. Vegans are automatically out. They'd be thankful to not have anyone enjoy animal products. Instead, how about a nice slice of highly processed disgusting Tofurkey. Turkey people are traditionalists who take pride in preparing a tasty bird. Ham people are lazy. They' rather stand in or on line to let someone else do the cooking and cut down on cleaning. Yams aren't usually yams. "Yam" is just a marketing gimmick. Cranberries are always good, but don't talk about how they help urinary tract infections at the table. Now, be grateful for, and enjoy, another fine episode, and don't be a turkey!

The sides, in our world, are really the stars of the show. Our magazines are so kind to share answers to the most commonly asked questions. I can just see year after year content editors being like, “ Y'all! They still don't know when to thaw that turkey. My best friend Diana recently moved with her husband and kids back to New York from L.A. (I know, I need my own therapist to deal with this!). As a consequence of being back on the east coast and nearer to family, she's now cooking a Thanksgiving dinner for TWENTY people total. All of her siblings will be their with their spouses and kids, plus her parents, and to make things even more complex several of the guests are vegan and several of the guests have celiac (aka: they're gluten-free). So how is Diana, a wonderful cook, going to tackle all of this? Will there be turkey? Tofurkey? How's she dealing with stuffing, with gravy, with dessert? Anxiety: A Ghost Story by Brenna Twohy We have got to talk about the kids in all those Goosebumps books. For example, if your family vacation is to an amusement park called HORRORLAND, and your station wagon explodes in the parking lot upon arrival, maybe shrugging it off, buying an extra large popcorn, and heading straight for The Deadly Doom Slide is not your best possible course of action. Or, if you steal a weird camera from your creepy neighbor's basement and every picture you take shows bad things happening, like decapitation and Tofurkey, and then all the bad things from the pictures start happening, Stop Taking Pictures. Or, if you move into your new house and there are a bunch of small children already living in your bedroom that your parents cannot see, maybe, don't just grab a juice box and go play in the cemetery that is in your backyard. Or, when I tell you of the ghosts that live inside my body; When I tell you I have a cemetery in my backyard and in my front yard and in my bedroom; When I tell you trauma is a steep slide you cannot see the bottom of, that my anxiety is a camera that shows everyone I love as bones, when I tell you panic is a stubborn phantom, she will grab hold of me and not let go for months– this is the part of the story when everyone is telling you to run. To love me is to love a haunted house– it's fun to visit once a year, but no one wants to live there, and when you say, “Tell me about the bad days,” it sounds like all the neighborhood kids daring each other to ring the doorbell, you love me like the family walking through Horrorland holding hands– You are not stupid, or careless, or even brave, you've just never seen the close-up of a haunting. Darling, this love will not cure me. And this love will not scrape the blood from the baseboards, but it will turn all the lights on, it will bring basil back from the farmer's market and it will plant it in every windowsill, it is the kind of love that gives me goosebumps, when you say to the ghosts, “If you're staying, then you better make room,” and we kiss against the walls that tonight are not shaking, so we turn the music up and we dance to Miles Davis, and you say, “My god, this house. The way that it stands even on the months that no one goes into or comes out of it.” How reckless, the way that I love like the first chapter of a ghost story. Like the gentlest hand reaching out of a grave.

For a lot of Americans, tofu conjures up images of bland, squishy cubes: a sorry alternative to meat. Even in Asia, where tofu was born, the soybean was initially seen as unappetizing, not to mention flatulence inducing. This episode, we tell the story of how people in what's now northeastern China figured out how to turn this legume of last resort into an array of nutritious, delicious foods, from slippery beancurd skins to silken puddings, and chewy soy crumbles to funky, fermented hairy tofu. Then we introduce the parade of unlikely figures—including Ben Franklin and a 1970s acid casualty who believed he could communicate telepathically with animals—who finally brought this "soybean cheese" to the Western masses. And, finally, we meet the twenty-first century immigrant entrepreneur trying to rebrand tofu from virtuous but boring into something much more delicious and desirable. Listen in now for all that plus Camembert tofu, anarchist zines, and the curious origins of that Thanksgiving favorite, Tofurkey. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

It’s time for another episode as Big Brothers, the season is winding down and we will have our newest Big Brother winner in less than 20 days. “Power of” Vito was without his trusted co-host Chris Stanley this week but couldn’t go a week without talking Big Brother, so your special co-host for this episode of Big Brothers is … ADAM POCH, from season 13! Adam came in third place in his season and was a real pleasure to talk to.   “Power of” Vito and Adam got along right off the bat both being huge fans in this XL episode of Big Brothers. The two could not stop talking about the game and had a lot to say about the demise of Maven, the rise of Paul and how TMZ is just coming after Big Brother this season. Adam was not hesitant to talk about his experience on the show as well.   Fun fact: Adam said off-air (don’t worry, said this was fine to say) that when it comes to Jury, the houseguests get that DVD, do their filmed segment and then are not allowed to talk game in between! That didn’t even come up because there is so much to cover this year. As boring and predictable some weeks have been we have still seen some of the most fights in any season with some pretty interesting gameplay from some Houseguests. Every week Adam Poch writes a blog/player ranking on Big Brother Network. He ranks the players based on Bacon (if they’re good) and Tofu (if they’re bad). He also gives ToFurkey of the week to who he feels was the weeks biggest loser. It’s a great way to stay updated with who is doing what in the house if you cannot be on those feeds 24/7/   PLEASE subscribe on iTunes and follow us on Twitter @BigBrothersPod and @VitoCalise !

You know that game you play around the Thanksgiving table? The one where everyone goes around and says what they're thankful for? We decided to play a mini version of the game, except with just two people, no turkey, and with Jeremy correctly guessing the first (and most important!) item on my list. Happy Thanksgiving everyone, thank you so much for listening, and we hope you enjoy this weekend with your family and friends. (PS and here's hoping for minimal political fights around the table.)

"I met Bat-Turkey/He said, 'What up, Tofurkey?'" Pretend that never happened. Anyways, what are the boys talking about this week? EVERYTHING, THAT'S WHAT! More concisely: they're at each other's throats over the new Kanye album, they both laughed their asses off at This Is the End, Paul shares his thoughts on Before Midnight and World War Z, and AJ's wedding quest as Man of Honor finally comes to a close. It's all very exciting and rambly, par for the course for these excitable ramblers. There is no rapping. Next week: Much Ado About Nothing talk, if the world is a kind and just place.
