God will do three things to make sure his people no longer profane his name – and instead, glorify his name. Firstly, he will cleanse them from their impurities, secondly, he will perform heart surgery on them. The third thing God will do is put his Spirit in us to move us to follow his laws and decrees.

Michael Bullard encourages us that God wants to interact with us in a relaxed way from Genesis 3:8, and challenges us to think about what barriers we have that may stop us from interacting with Jesus.

Title: Zechariah Key Verse – Luke 1:5-25, 57-66 Pastor Mark teaches us about Zechariah, the Jewish priest who was the father of John the Baptist. Key Points; • Zechariah and his wife were very old and had no children but had prayed for a child earlier • Whilst Zechariah was in the temple, he was promised a child by Gabriel the angel • Zechariah couldn't believe what he was hearing and was struck so he couldn't speak • Zechariah was told his son would turn many Israelites to love the Lord Reflection; • Pray in faith • God does hear all our prayers but that does not always mean a yes when we ask • When something unexpected happens o ask is this God? o Is God trying to intervene? o Is he answering a prayer when the timing is right? • When you sense the presence of God, draw close to him and listen to his voice, he may be preparing you for an even greater calling or blessing than your prayer New? Title: Simeon. A Devine moment. Key Verse – Luke 2:21-35 Pastor Mark teaches us about Simeon, the Prophet who spoke to Jesus' parents when they brought him to the temple to be dedicated to the Lord. The Holy Spirit revealed to Simeon that he would not die until he had seen the Messiah. Key Points; • Simeon had a Devine moment • He saw the Salvation but not the whole salvation • Simeon spoke the truth even though the truth was hard How people responded to Jesus would determine their destiny. • Jesus challenges us • We can't stay the same • His words challenge us, and they should • Pride kills healthy human interactions • Pride will trigger our ability to receive feedback • Pride demands affirmation and will not take correction • Pride would rather win an argument than keep a friend • God draws near to the humble • Jesus is who we worship • Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life Pray for; • Courage if challenged • Humility if pride is keeping us separated from a relationship with God • The ability to hear from God. How then should we live a worthy life? The Gospel story should reshape our own story and how we should live - in our homes - in our workplace - in our relationships In Ancient time - there was a household code of conduct between; - husband and wife - parents and children - slaves and master In the ancient world the man was the boss and in that context slaves, wives and children were often mis-treated as objects. Jesus enters the world and changes the context. He reminds us we are all created in the image of God and there should be inherent dignity in the way all humans are treated. Jesus came in grace and spoke the truth and broke the structures of power by serving. Practical applications for us; Use the Cross as a reminder symbol of the power of submission to create lives of victory and be filled with the Holy Spirit. 1. Mutual Submission. Be willing submit yourself to each other. 2. Understanding Headship as servanthood. Giving your own life for the good of the other. Use Jesus as the prime example. Strength in posturing yourself to serve. 3. Serving one another. Less selfish and less independent. 4. God's grace is needed. Seek his Spirit through prayer, wisdom and grace 5. Marriage can be great. Marriage can be the best fertile ground to experience God's grace. Unwavering commitment to faithfulness. Carve out time for fun Listening to one another Do great things together Surround yourself with people with great marriages Walk as there are 3 in your marriage, your partner, your self and Jesus.

Karen Siggins speaks about our tendency towards Confirmation Bias to prove a point. A continuation in our series on the church in Ephesus. Karen is the Interim Director of Ministries at the Baptist Ministry Centre. We all have a tendency to over-read or under-read a situation when we try to prove a point. This is called Confirmation Bias. Karen unpacks this in the context of us making choices about the path we follow and the judgements we make in life. Key points; - The wrong pathway is a dangerous place. Anyone can make a wrong choice. - God and the devil are not virtual equals wrestling over humanity. - The devil does not represent a threat to God's purposes. - The fear, the devil can ‘make us' do stuff, is NOT biblical.
