Welcome! We kick off this episode talking about hunting season, and all the things Luke has lost in the woods so far... Next, John thinks Church People should be more "clique-ish." But--his thoughts are interrupted by Cami and Collin, who found something HILARIOUS on Google Maps. It's a 13-year dream come true for John! Later, what's the opposite of joining a "clique?" Wouldn't it be joining a group of people who don't like spending time together? FINALLY: we share listener answers to the punchline challenge! Thanks for playing our game with us, Neighbor! “You cannot build your church on religious people.” In this powerful opening night sermon of the Waltham Forest Conference, Pastor Nigel Brown issues a timely and prophetic warning: If we prioritize church growth over new birth, we may lose the very culture that fuels our calling.Using Acts 5 as his foundation, Pastor Brown contrasts the “rest who dared not join” with those born again into a supernatural, Holy Ghost culture. He exposes the dangers of importing religious Christians rather than reaching sinners, and passionately defends the core values of evangelism, discipleship, church planting, and world evangelism. With stirring illustrations, historical insight into the Salvation Army, and testimonies of transformation, this message will challenge every pastor, disciple, and believer to preserve the culture that God has entrusted to our fellowship.
Pastor Chris Durso joins us to talk about the shifting landscape of modern Christianity — why flashy churches are losing their influence, how Gen Z is reshaping faith communities, and what authenticity really looks like in a post-celebrity-pastor era.Plus, the crew breaks down the biggest stories at the intersection of faith and culture, including Chandler Moore's lawsuit against Maverick City Music's CEO, Project Pat's stunning salvation moment at a Memphis concert, the Taco Bell Ultra Marathon and the viral “Jericho dating strategy” at ORU. Recently, host Jim Weaver preached a message entitled "Make Room", discussing the need for Christians to make room in their hearts, time, mind, and even the room itself to receive the harvest God wants to bring to salvation! It's everybody's responsibility to reach people for Christ, and it is dependent on a heart that is soft and full of God's grace to make space for people who are coming that are broken, confused, and need Jesus! In light of recent United States events, where churches are seeing unprecedented attendance, it's important for the Church People to be ready to receive those who are looking for Jesus! Let's explore how that can look...Support the show

TOGETHER GROUP QUESTIONSRead 1 Cor. 8:1-13. What stands out to you in this passage? What is the Word of God saying to us?"Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up." How does this idea challenge our understanding of spiritual growth? How can our pursuit of knowledge lead to pride, and to balance this, how can love change your entire approach?Reflect on a time when your knowledge or opinions caused someone to stumble. How did love influence your response or behavior in that situation? How can we practice humility and love in disagreements or differences of opinion? What does it mean to "practice love over personal rights"? Can you think of a specific example where choosing love meant giving up a personal right or preference? How do our opinions or actions sometimes unintentionally cause harm to fellow believers? What steps can we take to ensure our words and choices reflect grace and care rather than judgment or insensitivity?Discuss this statement: "Sinning against others is sinning against Christ." How does this influence how we treat fellow believers? How might this truth impact our approach to disagreements or differences in the body of Christ?Considering the main point, that love for Christ and others should guide our knowledge and actions... how can we practically ensure that love remains our primary focus in daily life? What specific steps or attitudes can we adopt to reflect God's love more consistently?

Episode 112 - Testimony Series - Collaboration and Divine Guidance This episode is a part of our December Testimony series. A series of short testimonies of times that God showed up upon set or in ways related to the film-industry.In this episode, Christopher Sean Shaw discusses the challenges and divine guidance encountered during the making of his short film 'Skip Listening' for the 168 Film Project. Despite losing key locations including their initial filming location (after they showed up to film on the first day of the shoot), God provided even better options. CSS believes these experiences were guided by divine intervention resulting in a successful film, and lasting professional relationships including continued collaboration with Thor Ramsey, eventually leading to their feature film 'Church People.' Constructing gingerbread houses can be stressful and sometimes never work the way we imagined, especially with kids involved. Fr. Ben has constructed some amazing gingerbread houses for his parishes that have weighed over 200 pounds. Khira on the other hand has not attempted to construct one with her family. Building a vibrant parish life can be stressful and tricky as well. Many people have many opinions and can be quite negative. How do we deal with negative people in the Church? How do we charitably deal with strong opinions coming from frequent churchgoers? Take a listen to receive great advice. Got a question you'd like to ask Fr. Ben? Go to Ask Fr. Ben | St. Michael Church (stmichaelmemphis.org) to submit questions and topic ideas for the podcast. The questions can be on faith or food! You can also follow us on Facebook and YouTube.
