In this stirring and deeply encouraging Advent message, Pastor Karl continues the series The King Has Come with a raw and life-giving exploration of the second great gift Jesus brings: peace.Turning to the familiar yet profound scene in Luke 2:8–20, Pastor Karl invites us into the midnight terror of ordinary shepherds—suddenly confronted by the blinding glory of God—and shows how the very first words from heaven that night were not “Merry Christmas,” but “Fear not.” That first Christmas did not begin with sentimental calm; it began with paralyzing, mega-fear. And right there, in the middle of stacked-on-stacked fear, the angel announced good news of great joy: a Savior has been born who is Christ the Lord, the Prince of Peace. With pastoral tenderness and unflinching honesty, Pastor Karl unmasks fear as the mortal enemy of peace—how it magnifies threats, shrinks our view of God, and paints our future in colors darker than God ever intended. Yet the gospel is stronger: peace is not the absence of trouble but the presence of a Person. Peace is not something Jesus gives; peace is who Jesus is—and He gives Himself.Through the shepherds' journey from terror to testimony, we're given clear, scriptural paths out of fear and into the unshakable peace of Christ: speaking God's truth over fear's lies, refusing to agree with the spirit of fear, drawing near to Jesus through spiritual disciplines, and taking bold steps of obedience that move us against comfort and toward surrender. This is a word for everyone whose heart has been ruled by anxiety, worst-case scenarios, or the quiet fears that steal joy—especially in this season. A tender yet urgent call to stop trusting the unknown future to our own control and start trusting it to the known God who entered our fear as a baby in a manger.Because the King has come, fear does not get the final word. Peace does. And when the Prince of Peace takes over a life, what spills out is no longer fear—but praise, testimony, and unshakable confidence in the goodness of God.Essential listening for anyone who longs to trade fear for the peace that passes all understanding this Christmas.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 9:00am & 10:30am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm
It's been ten years since Pope Francis issued his landmark encyclical on climate and caring for our common home, Laudato Si'. With the election of the new Pope Leo XIV, many are hopeful he will follow in Francis' path. Three-quarters of the global population follow a major religion. And the Catholic Church is far from alone among religious institutions in its directives to care for creation. A few years after Laudato Si, Muslim leaders issued Al-Mizan, which restates principles from the Quran on protecting nature in terms of meeting current challenges. Organizations like Interfaith Power and Light, the Jewish group Dayenu, the Hindu Bhumi Project, and the Buddhist Climate Action Network demonstrate the universality of creation care as central to religions worldwide. Especially at a time when governments are failing to take meaningful action on climate progress, can faith traditions provide new paths forward? Guests: Celia Deane-Drummond, Director, Laudato Si' Research Institute; Senior Research Fellow in Theology at Campion Hall, University of Oxford Rabbi Jennie Rosenn, Founder & CEO, Dayenu Iyad Abumoghli, Founder, Former Director, Faith for Earth Coalition, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP); Founder and Chair, Al-Mizan For show notes and related links, visit ClimateOne.org. Todaywe're looking specifically at Ephesians 4:5 where we read of the fifthspiritual reality, “One faith”. Sofar in verse 4, Paul has already mentioned one body, one Spirit, one hope. Andyesterday we talked about one Lord, the Lord Jesus Christ, Who is Lord overall. Now today we're talking about the next word, one faith. One faith. Nowit's important that we remember we're talking about unity. What brings aboutunity in the local body of Christ amongst believers is found in this essentialspiritual reality that is called “one faith”. Now the word “faith”here is not speaking of a personal faith that we have. Like when we say, I haveput my faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. I put my faith in His resurrectionpower. I have faith to believe that God's going to do this or that. No, thisword here is not speaking of that kind of faith. That's a personal faith. The“One Faith” here, is speaking of an objective faith. This “onefaith" transcends mere personal conviction or subjectivetrust; it represents the objective, divinely revealed body of doctrine thatforms the bedrock of Christianity. This “one faith” is speakingof the body of truth were find in the Word of God that you and I hold dear toour hearts we're not going to let change. So, it's “one faith”.There are not many paths to God. There is only one path to God. That path isthrough the Lord Jesus Christ. It's not “two faiths”, “five faiths”, or “tenfaiths”. It's “one faith”, one body of truth that brings us into arevelation, a knowledge of who God really is through His son Jesus Christ. Wecan't miss the importance of this truth! We live in a day of apostasy. We livein a day when the Gospel message has been watered down. We have a good God, a gooddevil, a good everybody. Be good. Do your best. Go to church. Try to keep theten commandments the best you can do, and God will understand in the end. Butmy friend, that's not what the Bible teaches. The Bible gives us one faith, onebody of truth that guarantees us an eternal salvation through our faith inChrist, in Christ alone. So, we have “one faith”. Theessentials of this faith include the Lordship of Jesus Christ and His deity. Heis God manifest in the flesh! I believe a great verse that speaks of this isJude 1:3. Jude writing to the believers says, "Beloved, while I wasvery diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found itnecessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faithwhich was once for all delivered to all the saints. For certain men have creptin unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly menwho have turned the grace of our God into lewdness deny the only Lord God ourLord Jesus Christ." Sothe faith that he's speaking of here is this body of truth, this original bodyof truth that the apostles have delivered to us once for all, it's unchanging. It's not negotiable. It has been always the same. My friend, Jesus Christ isthe same yesterday, today, and forever. “One faith”. This includes Jesus Christ'svirgin birth, His sinless life, His atoning death, His bodily resurrection, Hisascension into heaven where He's seated at the right hand of the Father rightnow. This includes salvation by grace through faith alone, not works. Thisspeaks of the Trinity, God in three persons, Father, Son, Holy Spirit. Thisspeaks of the authority of the Holy Scriptures as inspired and infallible. Thisspeaks of moral ethical living, holiness, love, and avoidance of sin in ourlives. This“one faith” speaks of the hope of Jesus Christ and His bodily returnone day and eternal life that is through Him alone. My friend, that's the “onefaith” we must hold dear in our hearts and “earnestly contend for” eventoday. Godbless!
(This podcast was previously published on December 20, 2020) Jesus Ministries, Joan Boney ... The apostle Paul called the elders of the church at Ephesus to come meet with him because Paul knew they would never see him again and Paul had a "charge" to give them concerning the church. Acts 20:25-30 And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more. Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men. For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God. Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which HE hath purchased with His own blood. For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. The early church was already to feel division by those persons who were "antichrist". The apostle John explains: I John 2:18-19 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. And the apostle Paul explains the way some were trying to worship the preachers, which divides the body of Christ. I Corinthians 3:1-4 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal? (One says, "I'm Baptist." and another says, "I'm Methodist.") Ephesians 4:4-6 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. (To try to keep from dividing the church, we can just say, "I'm a Christian," if we feel we must identify ourselves.) But often the person who hears this will ask, "What church?" for that person is carnal, failing to know there is only one church and that church has nothing to do with all these denominations set up by man to divide the body of Christ. The division in the church comes because some people put themselves into the church without having the spirit of God. Jude 17-19 But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; How that they told you there should be mockers (copiers/imitators) in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit. Such in the church groups are just waiting to have opportunity to say what they think. And without the Spirit, they speak their ideas to the church, what they think, and these are "perverse" things as Paul knew they would speak after his departure from the church at Ephesus. And Paul knew they were just waiting for an opportunity to draw away disciples after themselves. And by these the various denominations began where the church was divided one from another through their churches.

God is a promise-keeper! There are over 8,000 promises in the Bible. God in His infinite power demonstrates that He can be trusted. God wants His people to live by faith and learn to trust in His promises, therefore life may take what looks like a detour for us, but God has a perfect promise planned for us. Abraham was a man who learned by faith about God's faithfulness and promises. If you are interested in attending a service or finding out more, please visit us at https://mvcchome.org/If you feel led to support this ministry, then follow this link. https://mvcchome.org/give

In this three-part series, members of Silence the Shame University (STSU) Unpack powerful topics shaping the college experience—faith, mental health among Black men, and navigating relationships in college. Each episode explores these themes through real conversations with students, professionals, and experts who share personal stories and practical insights. Part One features STSU Ambassador Alani Williams in conversation with Ca'Miyah King (Spelman College), William Cox (Kennesaw State University), and Dr. Nicole LaBeach—public speaker, author, and Associate Director at the Faithful Central Bible Church Counseling Center. Together, they explore what it means to hold onto your faith while facing the pressures of college life. Key themes in this episode: Faith provides balance, grounding, and a strong value system amidst college challenges like culture shock, academic stress, and social pressures. Therapy and faith can coexist. Students don't have to choose—spiritual practices and mental health tools like coaching or therapy can work hand-in-hand. Faith is a journey, not a performance. Being honest with yourself and with God—through doubt, growth, and connection—is where transformation happens. Have you ever wondered if God's love truly embraces all people? Today, we witness a pivotal moment as Peter fully embraces his mission to share Jesus with people outside his own culture and tradition. Entering the home of Cornelius, a Roman centurion, Peter delivers the message of Jesus's love and resurrection to Gentiles, a step that breaks centuries-old boundaries. The Holy Spirit's powerful presence among Cornelius's household is a testament to God's desire for unity and inclusion. Peter's journey encourages us to break down any personal or cultural walls that separate us from others, offering God's love to everyone we meet as we live out the truth of one faith and one family. This is my second conversation with Paul Zucarelli who died in 2017 and returned from the dead through the intercessory prayer of Bishop Thomas Olmsted of Phoenix and the faith of his family. Since his resurrection, he has been serving God as a lay evangelist. In the earlier interview, we talked about his new book, One Lord, One Faith, One Church: An Inconvenient Truth, in which he made a strong case for the authority of the Roman Catholic church. This time we are talking about his first book, Faith Understood: An Ordinary Man's Journey to the Presence of God. He tells us about his experience of death, purgatory, and the light of the face God; he also describes his return to our breathing world and the power of faith and intercessory prayer. Bishop Olmsted, the doctors, and Paul's wife, Beth, and his son, Michael, recall his death and return in a short video. Paul's first book, Faith Understood: An Ordinary Man's Journey to the Presence of God. Paul's second book, One Lord, One Faith, One Church. Paul's website, Faith Understood. Since his resurrection, he has been serving God as a lay evangelist. His new book, One Lord, One Faith, One Church: An Inconvenient Truth, makes a strong apologetic case for the authority of the Roman Catholic church. He goes into supernatural evidence: Eucharistic miracles, Marian apparitions, uncorrupted bodies of the saints, and raising of the dead. He follows the history of the church from its foundation over the centuries with its schisms and fractures, down to this day when we Catholics disagree about the True Way. Can we humans be reconciled and reunited this side of the veil? That's the question we tackle together. St. Paul ties the gift of prayer very closely to the armor of God. As we cry out to God in prayer, we rely on His strength and ask for those things He promises in His Word. St. Paul particularly asks that the Ephesians would include him in their prayers of the Church, that he would be given to proclaim the gospel even while he is in prison. He commends Tychichus to them as the one who carries the letter and reads it to them. He concludes with the blessing of peace and grace from God, which the Christians in Ephesus and all Christians receive through the Lord Jesus Christ. Rev. Tim Storck, pastor at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Chesterfield, MI, joins host Rev. Timothy Appel to study Ephesians 6:18-24. "One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism” is a series on Sharper Iron that goes through the epistle to the Ephesians. St. Paul highlights the salvation that God has given to His whole Church by His grace through faith. Because God has given His people this new life in Holy Baptism, we live in thanksgiving to Him as members of one body.
