We all know that one smart person who always contributes something meaningful in almost every conversation. What's so special about these types of people? I talked to Janus Kwong (whose intellect I admire) about reading books as one of the things that have shaped her mindset and critical thinking skills. One thing is certain, reading allows you stand on the shoulders of giants and see life through the eyes of those who have gone ahead. Enjoy this enlightful episode and don't forget to share :) Love and kindness, Ololade
In this informative episode, Anuoluwapo and I discussed the meaning of identity - both personal and shared. If you've worked before, you probably understand the term called "probationary period" which is more or less the talking stage of a romantic relationship. Traditionally, companies assess the performance of their new employees to see if everything they claimed in their resume and during their recruitment process is indeed true. In this episode, I shared some tips on how to thrive during your probation period after starting your new job. Best believe, you've got this, so show 'em what you've got! The best part of job hunting is when you get an offer from an employer. It's an euphoric feeling, especially after job hunting for a while. Hi Ololade, we've really enjoyed getting to know you. Unfortunately, we have decided to move ahead with other candidates. Does that sentence strike some personal chords? My guess is yes! In this episode, I shared how rejections could hurt but more importantly be channeled into a positive experience. I hope you enjoy this short but meaningful episode. Please share also :) Love, Ololade
Waiting seasons are usually tough and understandably so. The human mind always wants to have everything under control and predictable. However, as with many things in life including job search, we have little/no control over external circumstances. Therefore, in this episode I recommended some helpful things to do while waiting during a job search phase and before getting that dream job. Please enjoy and share :) Love, Ololade

Regardless of the job role or career field, there are usually some questions which cut across industries and in this episode, I shared some of those and gave guides on how to answer them. The success of any job interview (largely) depends on your response and how you are able to make a lasting impression on the interviewer. Remember that practise takes you a step closer to mastery and there are a number of online resources that can help you, apart from this Podcast of course. Please enjoy this episode and don't forget to share :) Love, Ololade

Please enjoy this episode and share :) Love, Ololade
I read a book titled "what color is your parachute" by Richard Bolles and found it super insightful. Based on some insights from the author, I learned that there are two approaches to job searching, one being traditional and the other being more strategic with an end goal of getting a job you really love and which utilizes your skills. In this episode, I discussed some elements involved in these two approaches and gave some examples of how this plays out in day-to-day job hunting. Please enjoy and learn something new :) Love, Ololade
In this episode I spoke about some of the trends in the career space and how it's important for job seekers to upskill and have a growth mindset that they can learn anything they want and grow in any aspect they choose, as long as they invest in themselves. After a few months being MIA, it's my pleasure to introduce another season of LTTK, where I will be solely focusing on career topics including job search, interviews, and navigating the world of work. As you may know, I'm all about self improvement and hope this season will bring you some knowledge and inspiration. Let's go! Love, Ololade
To wrap up the year and the culture series, I featured three main cultural representations from Nigeria: Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba. As expected, it was quite enriching to discuss some of the stereotypes associated with these tribes and explore marriage from their lens. Although Nigeria is a country, the rich diversity of its people must always be acknowledged. Enjoy this episode and I wish you a merry christmas & happy new year :) Love, Ololade
I have a bias towards anything that looks and feels korean, so it was easy to immerse myself in this episode with the delightful Young who shared her perspective about the South Korean culture. For starters, we spoke about the personality of koreans, discussed the famous korean dishes and their love of vegetables. Also super interesting is their style of arranged marriages which is fast becoming a booming business for the companies who specialize in these services. More details in the episode so enjoy! Love, Ololade
You could tell from my excitement that I had looked forward to recording this episode. Nicole and I spoke about the German language which I'm still learning *wink*, food and probably the most interesting, being gender roles. Did you know that in Germany, both male and female are treated equally to a large extent, and this plays out particularly in child birth? You haven't heard the best part! For more juice, listen to this interesting episode :) Love, Ololade
What have you heard about India? Perhaps you may want to refresh your knowledge with this refreshing episode where Kalpan passionately spoke about his country. We spent some time understanding the diversity of language in India as well as the role astrology plays in marriage. Quite insightful if you ask me, so enjoy! Love, Ololade
It is the diversity of Brazil for me in this episode. It's like several countries in one and possibly one of the most diverse countries in the world. Lucas and I had an interesting chat about Portuguese which I know now as the official language in the country. Other things in-between like where to visit apart from Rio de Janeiro which pretty much everyone knows, or what Brazilians eat and the stereotypes were also covered! Please enjoy this episode! Love, Ololade
An enjoyable episode I must say! It was interesting that I discovered some similarities between the Albanian and Nigerian Yoruba culture of weddings with lots of guests, money spraying, and a genuine love for beans (Always a favorite delicacy for me). Apart from that, we also spoke about gender roles which unsurprisingly favors men. What is more, Suzana shared that it is okay in Albania for men to live in their parents' home even after getting married, emphasizing the influence of parents and family in the culture. I found that really interesting. More details in the Podcast. Do enjoy this episode :) Love, Ololade
Thanks to Alena, I learned something new about the Russian culture, like how fashionable the ladies are and some stereotypes which she addressed. There was also something unique about the burial rites. Apparently in some parts of Russia, there is a 14-day transition period of the soul after a person dies. For more about this gist, listen and enjoy! Love, Ololade
Zahra's vulnerability was what made this episode outstanding. From her, I learned among other things, the Pakistani style of marriage, which is typically arranged (there are usually exeptions of course) and we also talked about the food. Topping the list was the Chicken Biryani! I can easily admit that Pakistan is a country with really kind and friendly people and Zahra is living proof. This episode promises to be exciting and educative so get ready to learn! Don't forget to share also :) Love, Ololade
Easily one of my favorite episodes, I learned how to speak the famous Ghanian Twi (just a little bit), spoke with Lydia about a famous tourist attraction in Cape Coast and why it is a must-visit site. For Jacob, it was more political, with him explaining the gender roles from a historical perspective and why Africa needs to adapt some cultural realities to the development of the people in those societies. It was all fun and quite inspiring to listen to two passionate Ghanaians talk about the things which thrilled them about their Country whilst hoping for better days. Please enjoy! Ololade
From my conversation with the very amiable Melisa, I learned that it is considered disrespectful to refuse food offered by a guest in El Salvador, a fascinating country of about 7 million people known for their beaches and volcanoes. In this episode, Melisa and I discussed some of the things that make El Salvador a country worth visiting as well as interesting facts about life as an El Salvadorian. Have fun listening! Ololade
What is Italy especially known for? What does the language sound like? Where to visit on holiday? How can you make Italian pasta and meat sauce? Learn this and more in this episode where I talked to a very cheerful Alberto who brought his personality to life throughout the conversation. I hope you enjoy it while learning! Love, Ololade
My highlights from this episode were the conversations we had about marriage and death. You'd be surprised to learn that in Wendo's tribe in Kenya, the marriage ceremony has about 3-5 activities. The burial rites in Kenya fall under two major extremes, those who want to grieve quickly and move on, and others who take their time to grieve and celebrate the dead. Not to spill too much tea, just know you're in for an interesting and funny conversation, with Wendo's happy-go-lucky personality. Enjoy! Love, Ololade
Curious to learn about the Zimbabwean culture and/or people? In this lighthearted episode, Tassy and I spoke about the food, music, language, marriage and some other things in-between. Do enjoy this learning experience, knowing that you took a 37-minutes trip to a country and came back more knowledgeable. :) With love, Ololade
In the coming weeks I'll be introducing a series of interviews with people from different cultures and having interesting conversations to understand how different or similar their cultures are to mine. Can't wait to release the episodes
We have all dealt with rejection and disappointment at some point in our lives. Perhaps you are even in that phase of your life now?! It is not so much about the rejection, but how we handle it is what is important. In this episode, I talked about the two ways I am learning to embrace rejection. It can make us better people if we look and learn from the experience. Please enjoy this episode! Love, Ololade
We are all influencers in some way because people have changed their eating habits, perception of an issue, lifestyle, and/or thoughts based on what we said or did. Knowing this, it becomes important to check what manner of influencer you are and guard your heart from negative influencers. The world needs better people for it to thrive. Cheers to improvement and positive influence! I'll drink to that :) lol. Please enjoy this episode. With Love, Ololade
This conversational episode features Mariam Hamidou, a Germany-based Architect who also consults for those planning to relocate to Germany. In it, we spoke about some of the trends in the German job market and what people (especially Africans) should know if they plan to move abroad, either for an educational degree or for job opportunities. Please enjoy this episode! Love, Ololade
A chit-chat inspired episode, I shared a testimony about my life and also what I am learning about Faith. I hope this encourages you to hold on to God and draw strength when you need it. Love, Ololade
Valentine is coming, where is your ___________? Does this ring a bell? There is just so much pressure when it comes to Valentine's Day and whilst I don't in any way want to invalidate the purpose of this day for lovers, I believe love is beyond flowers, watches, cakes and Instagram to showcase. There is a love and kindness that must be expressed to humanity and I shared my opinion about this in the Podcast. I hope you enjoy it :) Love, Ololade
Happy New Year Knowledge Seekers, I am uber-excited to share this episode with you, especially in the spirit of new year and resolutions (for those who make them). I believe our goals don't work sometimes because we overestimate our capacity whilst underestimating our current realities. If the year will be different with your goals accomplished, you should change your game plan and I shared some of my ideas in this episode. Enjoy :) Love, Ololade
Being one of the popular festive seasons across various countries in the world, Christmas time is a joyful season to spend with loved ones. Beyond that, we rejoice with an understanding that thousands of years ago, God came to earth to dwell in our midst (through the birth of Jesus Christ) - with the goal of reconciling us back to Himself after we made a mistake which cost us our place in God's presence - and this is really the purpose of our festivity, should we forget. I hope you enjoy this episode and I wish you a wonderful holiday period and happy new year
First, I know it's kind of late to wish you a happy new month but still *welcome to December* the month where people unwind as they prepare for the new year. Undoubtedly, 2020 was uncomfortable for quite a number of people, with lives, money, jobs lost and what not. However, you are still alive and I strongly believe it is for a purpose that you, we (including myself) are still here. Life is truly a gift hence, gratitude is important. Listen as Laura shares her near-death experience in this episode and we hope it will make you think of YOUR reasons to be grateful. P.S: If you are interested in the subject of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit and want more information, please email me: mailtheolola@gmail.com or letstoasttoknowledge@gmail.com. I'd be happy to engage you in a conversation. *wink* Happy Holidays! With Love, Ololade
Watching the movie #Citation made me discover a faulty thinking of mine that places the full responsibility on the woman in the event of a rape case. Acknowledging this thought of mine was really critical for me and I also thought to share it with you :) If you have not seen this movie, now is a good time to do so and I would love to hear your thoughts. Were you (like me) unconsciously placing the burden on Moremi for the actions she took? That said, Kunle Afolayan's movies are always thought-provoking and this was no different. I shared some of the lessons I learned from the movie in this episode and hope you enjoy it also!
Life is generally in phases. Sometimes we feel like we need to move to the next phase, forgetting we had prayed to be where we currently are. There is a beauty in every season of your life and this episode is a gentle reminder that gratitude is a must! May we never be ungrateful.
This is another episode where I get to share a not-so-popular aspect of my life (weaknesses and flaws YO!!) and I am still thinking twice about it, lol. If you're here, then it means I ended up releasing this episode! People don't like to talk about their weaknesses, their struggles or imperfections because of the fear of being judged or laughed at. It was not comfortable admitting that I have these struggles but this is an important step toward healing and improvement. I hope in sharing my own struggles, you get the strength to acknowledge your weaknesses and deal with them. May the odds be in your favor! Love and Light, Ololade
These past few weeks in Nigeria have been a series of unfortunate events with October 20, 2020 being the darkest day in the history of modern day patriotism under a civilian government. That said, this message is particularly for Nigerian youth to get busy gaining knowledge about Nigeria and Africa as a whole. We need to know where we are coming from to prepare for where we want to get to. Nigeria will rise again, and it is in the little things we do. Hello everyone! In the wake of what is happening in Nigeria
Hello everyone! Currently, we are working towards revolutionizing the Nigerian Police Force by protesting against the operation of the SARS (special anti-robbery squad) who are supposed to be emblems of protection but have instead become a societal nuisance. Enough is enough! Please lend your voice one way or another. Thank you
If you have been body-shamed in the past, I am sure you will be able to relate to this episode. But in all honesty, we may have also body-shamed other people and this is a reminder that we can do better and we should do better. People come in different shapes and sizes and should be respected regardless of how they look. If anything, I hope this episode inspires you to approach peculiarity with humanity!
Encountering another culture different from what I had always known was scary at first but now I get the whole picture *wink* In this episode, I note the differences between the German and Nigerian culture (BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE). If anything, I have learned that you can always take what you want from a culture and leave out the rest, as long as there is learning and growth. P.S: This is me speaking about my experience and does not represent the entire German and Nigerian cultures because it is all about perception. I still hope you will enjoy the episode.
Unfortunately, grief is one of those emotions bound to be experienced in life. 13 years ago, my father died and that event altered our (my family) lives forever. In all, I CAN definitely say that God has been good to my family and I along the way. In this episode, I shared some personal details of my life along with my siblings, also as a way to honor my father's legacy. To those who are grieving now, it is going to be alright! You are not alone! Love and Light from Ololade.
One of the few books I have read twice and will definitely read again is "The Alchemist" written by Paulo Coelho. With a storytelling style that captures you from the first page, I definitely recommend this to you, moreso because there are things to learn from that book and I shared 5 of those in this Podcast. Here's to reading more books that change our lives :)
There is this euphoric feeling I get when I tick off a major task from my list of deliverables. You probably are like me too, isn't it? In this episode, I chit-chat about how I stay productive in order to get more meaningful work done. That being said, not everyday is with 100% energy levels in my opinion but somehow, you have to find a way to balance it all and achieve progress. I hope you find this episode insightful!
As a sucker for authentic friendships, in this Podcast I share my two cents on the value of true friendships. Sustainable friendships thrive on both parties putting in the work, learning how to love and care for each other. Sweet friendship refreshes our souls and awakens our hearts with Joy. May your friendships bring you Joy :)
Do you ask God honest questions? Do you listen to hear his answers? As christians, I believe one of the areas some of us struggle in, is hearing God speak to us. In this Podcast, I shared some of my experiences with God as a growing Christian. If anything, I want you to be encouraged to spend quality time with God and listen for His VOICE because He always speaks, we just need to tune into His frequency. :)
