This podcast will cover all the lessons of Rebbe Nachman's Likutei Moharan, a book that gives one the tools and the advice on how to draw close G-d and bring Him into every aspect of your life.
In the final podcast we'll do on Likutei Moharan, we'll discuss a range of topics: Shabbat, Emunah, heresy, blessing, Uniting the sun and the moon/YHVH and ELOKIM, Yitzchak and Yaakov, humility and pride…We also talk about dreams and grace…אשרינו שזכינו להתקרב לרבינו נ נח נחמ נחמן מאומן
Rabeinu gives additional understanding to lesson 275, which discusses the idea that the mitzvot a person performs creates candles that allow him to search the treasury of the King once he leaves this world. We also study a manuscript which Rabeinu wrote explaining how pride makes a person fall into heresy, confounding a person from his faith in G-d. Rabeinu teaches us how to rectify this, how to expand/greaten our faith, how to rebuild Yerushalayim, and restore our superiority over the Goyim etc…
Rabeinu discusses many concepts, ranging from nullifying bad traits, revealing G-d's glory, how to strengthen faith when we are overcome with doubts, speech as gevurah, how animalistic eating can lead to fever, screaming from the heart, sanctifying relations, sukkot, the nourishment of animals vs humans, construction…
Manuscript of Torah 109: Rabeinu explains how sighing is able to make us a completely new creation, detaching ourselves from the air of impurity and attaching ourselves to the vapor of purity!Manuscript on Parashat Ekev: Rabeinu speaks about the need of asking advice from the true Tzadikim, his children, and his students. Rabeinu also speaks about suffering and how to sweeten the afflictions before they reach you and even after they reach you. Rabeinu also talks about dancing, happiness, love, fear, etc…
Rabeinu teaches us that there are 2 types of heresy: one heresy is a heresy that we can answer and refute but there's another heresy that is much more dangerous that one cannot answer to it, for the wisdom of this heresy is actually not a wisdom at all. This second heresy stems from the Vacated Space that G-d created before creation. Rabeinu teaches us though that through faith/emunah that G-d fills and surrounds all the worlds, we can surpass this second heresy and ascend above their questions.
Rabeinu delves very deeply into the subject of faith and how to increase faith in the Creator. Rabeinu teaches us that through faith, one is able to purify his food so that when a person eats, he's able to cause the unification between G-d and His Divine Presence face to face. This Torah also discusses the reasons for why one falls into heretical questions and the 2 different types of questions that you either have to answer or you can't answer/have to rely on faith alone. Rabeinu discuss how to create peace between the good and evil inclination, how to elevate the sparks of holiness from among the klipot, and how to strengthen the letters of speech to protect it from Pharaoh and his 3 officers: the head butcher, baker, and butler!
Rabeinu explains Rabbi Akiva's saying in the Gemara Chagiga before he and 3 other sages ascended into Pardes… Rabeinu teaches us that this saying is teaching us the importance of speaking words of truth, and avoiding words of falsehood. Rabeinu speaks about how purity is only applicable in the case that impurity exists. He also discusses how one can ascend to the time before creation where everything is one and no evil exists, only oneness!Through TRUTH one is able to draw down G-d's Divine Providence over himself…
Rabeinu explains how to draw down G-d's Divine providence through charity, the Chacham/Tzadik's ability to elevate souls, renew them in the aspect of Ibur/pregnancy, bring down the Torah of the Mashiach, and draw down chesed and da'at, hashgacha, vision, nullifying the desire for money, etc…

Torah 121 Tinyana: Rabeinu says it's very important to not look at the prayer as a whole because it will disturb your concentration (the fact that there's so much to say discouraged you). Rather just focus on a small piece of the prayer at a time, telling yourself…Torah 122: Rabeinu speaks about subduing foreign thoughts during prayer and compares it with going to war…Torah 123: The Mikveh…Torah 124: Take advantage of the moment when you receive a thought of Teshuva or longing for G-d in a specific place, and don't leave that place or wait for later to pray or act on that feeling. Torah 125: One must read all the supplications and specifically Tehillim with the intention of finding yourself in every single chapter, seeing how every single chapter applies to you specifically. One must also encourage himself in finding the good points!
Torah 118 Tinyana: preparing before giving Torah lessons is much greater than giving a lesson spontaneously!Torah 119: This world is filled with suffering and there is no way around it. The only wya to redeem yourself from this suffering is to toil in the Torah…Torah 120: Rabeinu warns us to pay attention to the words of prayer and what they literally mean. Rabeinu tells us that one should not study kavanot to practice them in prayer but rather just to learn and teach. Rabeinu told a student of his who was studying the writings of the Arizal not to pray with the kavanot at all…
Torah 116 Tinyana: Rabeinu explains that when he went to Eretz Yisrael, he was told by the many great Tzadikim who had moved there from Eastern Europe that they never thought that Israel actually existed in the physical realm, simply because it's awesome holiness is described in the Torah. It sounds to be above this earth entirely. Rabeinu explains that Eretz Yisrael on the surface level seems completely like every other country, and there's absolutely no difference. The same is true of the comparison between the Tzadikim / upright people and the rest of the world. But the emet la'amito / ultimate truth is that its holiness is not even to be compared! It's so extremely lofty!Torah 117 Tinyana: Rabeinu explains why a person might experience a nocturnal emission when drawing close to holiness or to the true tzadik etc… Rabeinu says not to be confused by this at all…
Rabeinu speaks about an array of important subjects: analyzing his Torah lessons, thinking about Torah during marital relations, distancing oneself from sexual desire, human behavior, the repercussions of our actions…Rabeinu also discusses the great holiness of the Kivrei Tzadikim / burial places of the true tzaidkim and explains that they have the literal holiness of the Land of Israel. Rabeinu also talks about the simplicity of free will, about prayer being the primary way to draw close to G-d, encouraging oneself to never give up, experiencing a glimmer of G-d, the tremendous blemish that immoral thoughts cause, and being clear headed in serving G-d walking in a certain path for long periods of time!
Rabeinu gives us more advice and encouragement about hitbodedut. He also explains that the main way to recite Tikkun hatzot is to recite it as if it's happening right now, in the present moment! This allows a person to truly awaken his heart with an arousal and longing for G-d, and enables him to express everything on his heart. We must also recite the tehillim by finding ourselves in every single chapter. The entire Tehillim was written about the war between a person and the evil inclination, and with ease, a person can find each and every chapter applicable to himself wherever he is!Rabeinu also envied those simple upright people who recited the extra prayers, tehillim, and supplications in the large prayer books. Rabeinu tells us that the primary thing in serving G-d is total simplicity and wholeheartedness!
Rebbe Nathan brings a few conversations Rabeinu gave about the importance of spending time every single day to do hitbodedut/express yourself to G-d in your own language, speaking to Him about absolutely everything!Rebbe Nachman emphasizes this practice as being the ultimate way to be a truly upright and holy individual.
Torah 92 Tinyana: Rabeinu explains the Tikkun Haklali- the rectification for nocturnal emission/blemishing the covenant. Torah 93: The reason why people have machloket/argument on Rebbe Nachman is because his entire task in this world was bringing people closer to true prayer, and prayer stands at the summit of the world! “That which stands at the summit is degraded by the sins of man.”Torah 94: When one goes to the true Tzadik for Rosh Hashana, he brings together the 3 different “heads,” accomplishing an awesome tikkun!Torah 95: Rabeinu explains that one should pray with true sincerity to the point where one merits to cry genuinely before G-d, like a son before his father. But one must make sure not have the thought of wanting to cry in the back of your mind, because that too is not genuine. The only way to properly do this is to concentrate your mind on the words that are emerging out of your mouth, and with ease you'll arouse true tears!
Genuinely attaching yourself to the true Tzadikim is extremely beneficial and accomplished the following rectifications: one merits to do complete teshuva, to atone for sin, sweeten and nullify judgements completely, and unify G-d & the Divine Presence!Rabeinu explains that the true Tzadik's entire task is to elevate the common people, who represent limited consciousness/lower wisdom, to the aspect of upper wisdom/ G-d and the Torah. The way he does so is by speaking with these people about mundane events and worldly conversations…
Torah 89 Tinyana: Rabeinu explains that Da'at is responsible for bringing two opposites together, which is why Da'at makes all Shidduchim. All Shidduchim are opposites and sometimes extremely opposite from one another. Therefore, one must bring Da'at from potential to actual so one can find his match! How does one actualize Da'at? By going to the Tzadik/the man of true Da'at to listen to him give a Torah!Torah 90: Rabeinu explains why we break an earthenware vessel at the time when an engagement is finalized!
Torah 87 Tinyana: The kavanot of Elul are THE rectification for blemishing the covenant! Rabeinu explains this the main blemish occurs in the aspect of Derekh (numerical value of 224) - that one didn't illuminate the sea/faith with the 224 lights, and instead “all flesh perverted it's WAY/ Darko (same root as Derekh). Rabeinu explains that these kavanot of Elul are propitious to find one's soulmate, and to instill within his partner a desire for him. Rabeinu gave this awesome secret to Eliezer, his servant, when he went on the journey to find Yitzchak's soulmate…Look at lesson 6 of Likutei Moharan, analyze it, and practice what is written there to truly accomplish this rectification. Torah 88: Rabeinu teaches us that one must be very very careful not to eat fruits that aren't fully ripened! As long as the fruit is not yet ripe, it has the power of sucking in nutrients… when you cut the fruit off the tree before it's ripe, it still has the power to suck in, and therefore can suck the vitality of the soul who's eating the fruit! One who's strong in serving G-d can find lost items in the fruit he eats…One who makes a blessing on the fruit he eats with proper concentration and fear of Heaven can save himself from this damage. Rabeinu teaches us that there is an angel that has many deputies under it which all hold shofars and dig for lost items. They blow a Tekiah, Teruah, and then a Tekiah and make a great uproar and celebration when they find a lost item. Both of these lessons are extremely connected and have tremendous secrets hidden in them! May we have the merit to understand them and apply them b”H!
Torah 84 Tinyana: Rabeinu teaches us that prayer is the essential way to connect to G-d. He explains that praying with strength allows the Shechina to be redeemed from the exile and to unite with G-d. Also, through tefilla with strength, you're able to renew the oath G-d made with the forefathers…Torah 85: Rabeinu connects the aspect of Leah to Luzim, the Oref/back of the neck, Nachamu Nachamu, the 3 weeks of Bein Hametzarim, the resurrection of the dead, Rachel, Yaakov, etc…Torah 86: When people are of little faith, they require difficult acts of G-dly service, like fasting…
Rabeinu connects many different concepts together, all starting with rectifying the covenant!Rabeinu then discusses how rectifying the covenant enables one to attain prayer and faith! Rabeinu also talks about the holiness of Shabbat and how Shabbat alludes to prayer. He then explains this in connection with the culmination of all knowledge, which is knowing absolutely nothing!Rabeinu also connects these ideas with space, wisdom, donning a holy body from Gan Eden, elevating one's Mazal, subduing gloom, elevating fallen fears and loves, uncovering our eyes, chametz, the redemption, studying with flames of love, covering up spilled blood, embarrassment, transforming sins into merits, etc…Rabeinu also discusses an amazing chiddush with regard to how G-d slaughters the mitzvah a Jew performed in order to render the mitzvah kosher for Him to enjoy!
Rabeinu explains how there's the concepts of order/Adam/G-d and disorder/Chava/Kingship. Rabeinu explains what a person needs to do in order to nullify the aspect of chaos so that everything goes according to your will. Rabeinu teaches us that one must attach the concept of Kingship to G-d for it to have completion and perfection. When you don't bind this aspect of disorder/kingship to the concept of Adam, which is “Mah” (expansion of Tetragrammaton with Aleph's), which practically means Divine intellect, then one has heartache and sickness-things go not as planned. Rabeinu also discusses how to bring G-d to the lowest points and how to find Him in every single ascent! He also teaches us about how Moshe Rabeinu (who's hiloula is tonight-7 Adar) established a pathway of teshuva during the days of Elul, when he went up on Har Sinai to receive the 2nd tablets, and he showed G-d that he is willing to sacrifice himself for even the lowest Jew!This is a very profound lesson. Study it well and it will give you tremendous advice in serving G-d and drawing close to Him!
Torah 80 Tinyana: Rabeinu explains a seemingly simple passage in Masechet Yoma in a very deep way, teaching us about how the previous generations had tzadikim who took positions of authority solely for the sake of Heaven but now people aren't doing this for G-d's honor, rather for themselves. Rabeinu emphasizes that one should never run after positions of leadership, but only after being coaxed to do so and under the condition that it's Lishma - for the sake of Heaven!Torah 81 Tinyana: When one performs a mitzvah with such joy that the joy reaches the feet and makes this person dance, he's able to elevate all the concepts that are relevant to the feet (money, bad speech, Torah supporters, faith, the woman…)
Rabeinu wrote a manuscript for this lesson in bullet point form, leaving us very confused as to what he intended to teach us with this lesson, but Rebbe Nathan explains to us a bit of the deeper meaning of what Rabeinu explains:Teshuva enables one to nullify time entirely, elevating time within the aspect of “beyond time.” Once a person does teshuva, he strengthens the voice of holiness and weakens the voice of Esav, the voice of evil! We also learn that the essence of true teshuva is dependent on the holiness of one's thoughts. Also, all suffering and judgements are because we exist under the realm of timed but once we do teshuva and nullify time, we thereby nullify suffering and the grasp of the evil side!
We know that the Torah is our life, and if we separate ourselves from the Torah, it's as if we separate ourselves from life! In this profound Torah, we uncover why the true tzadik has to act simply sometimes (cease from engaging in the Torah) and where he receives his vitality during the time in his state of simplicity. This also begs the understanding of knowing where we receive our life force from when we aren't engaged in Torah!Rabeinu connects this to the creation of the world, in which G-d maintained the world (for the 26 generations preceding the giving of the Torah) solely through his kindness alone, from a place called the אוצר מתנת חנם - the treasure house of unconditional gifts!Rabeinu explains this in connection with the pathway which leads to the Land of Israel and how the tzadik sustains himself from this same place when he is simple. The tzadik then brings life force to all the simple people of the world…This also relates to Moshe Rabeinu's final request to enter Eretz Yisrael, and Rabeinu teaches us about NEVER GIVING UP! “אין שום יאוש בעולם כלל” - “There's no such thing as despair in the world, at all!”Rabeinu also emphasizes how important it is to attach oneself to the true tzadik, and explains that the evil inclination puts all his effort into confusing a person about where the truth lies… so we must beg HASHEM that he allows us to draw close to the true tzadik!

Each and every Jew must experience suffering every single day. And the greater one's consciousness/knowledge of G-d, the greater his suffering must be!Rabeinu explains why this is so and answers this with regard to the passageway of the tefillin: which allows the strap of leather to pass through the box of Tefillin! The strap signifies fear and the box represents wisdom! Meaning that anyone who merits attaining holy mentalities (tefillin) has to also accept this fear (strap) with it, as fear and wisdom are dependent upon each other. And this fear devolves into suffering! So we see that the greater one's mentalities are, the greater his suffering must be. BUT, Rabeinu teaches us how to sweeten this suffering and ensure our suffering doesn't devolve from fallen fears/the evil strap. How? By eating with fear of Heaven and holiness, one is able to draw the Fear of G-d, which stands next to him during mealtime, in himself. With this, he's able to sweeten the suffering, to elevate his mouth into the category of man , and elevate his mouth even higher into the aspect of the Supernal Man, where the Divine Presence speaks through this person!
Torah 73 Tinyana: Rabeinu teaches us a profound explanation as to how reciting Tehillim arouses one to do Teshuva, to do Teshuva through his proper gate, and to open up the gate even when it's sealed! He also connects this to the 12 tribes, the 49 gates of Teshuva, and the 49 letters that make up the names of the 12 tribes. Torah 74: Rabeinu teaches us how Purim is a preparation for Pesach, especially the reciting of the portion of the Para (which is read on the Shabbat following Purim). ”All the beginnings started from Pesach, but now… (all the beginnings start from Purim)”Torah 75: Rabeinu explains the benefit of merely looking at the faces of true Tzadikim. Rabeinu also teaches us how the Talmid Chacham is even greater than the Torah!Torah 76: The Jewish people are first subjugated under their oppressors in the exile, but we always stand strong and end up becoming the masters to those who once were our masters…
Even just exchanging glances with the Tzadik is something very very great! Rabeinu teaches us how when the true tzadik looks at an individual, he is able to shine into him awesome levels of mentalities and G-dly knowledge, enabling this person to accept true kingship, greatness! And what is the essence of greatness? Humility! And it's this humility/lowliness of every individual that will be resurrected in the future!Rabeinu also discusses how this sight of this tzadik allows him to realize what position of authority is fitting for each and every person. This means that every person is in his genuine place, and now each individual can reveal Torah novelties according to his level, not more or less. Rabeinu also discusses Ruach, the great purity of the Tzadik, Teshuva, embarrassment, the Tzadik's giving of a Torah, the World to Come, Shabbat…

Rabeinu explains the difference between the mentalities of the Land of Israel and the mentalities of Chutz Laaretz (outside Israel)! He teaches us that the essential difference is specifically when the mentalities outside of Israel blemish G-d's honor so that they can no longer nourish themselves from the mentalities of Israel. Rabeinu teaches us that to rectify this blemish in honor is to give charity (highest of all is the charity of the Land of Israel) essentially allowing the Noam Haelyon/Supernal Pleasantness to flow in the appropriate vessel. The charity is that vessel allowing the flames of love, which stems from this Noam, to be drawn into the heart thanks to the charity one gives! Rabeinu also explains how this charity ends up exalting G-d's honor, repairing the blemished mentalities of Chutz Laaretz and giving them their long awaited rectification!Happy is he who merits to taste the sweetness of the Torah!!

Torah 68 Tinyana: What makes a tzadik truly perfect is when he is able to be both above and down below. Meaning, he is able to show the one who's running in lofty spiritual levels that actually he's very far from HASHEM, and to the one who's at a very low spiritual place that G-d is literally right next to him. This work is the essence of a tzadik's completeness, and without this he's not a tzadik at all!Rabeinu explains this idea in connection to leaving behind a legacy in this world: students and children… Torah 69 Tinyana: Rabeinu explains the true sod as to why we give a blessing to the one carrying the drinks at a wedding and how this is hinted in the Zohar Pikudei 242b. Torah 70 Tinyana: The greater someone is, the further he must go in search of what he seeks…
There's a true tzadik who's the beauty, splendor, and grace of the entire world. And when this tzadik is made famous and revealed in the world, all those who are attached and encompassed within this tzadik have their eyes opened: they are able to see within themselves/whey they are holding in their traits, and they are also able to see the greatness of HASHEM!Rabeinu also teaches us that there are luminaries of light (representing holiness) and luminaries of fire (representing evil). When the luminaries of light are given strength, the luminaries of fire are subdued, and G-d forbid the opposite occurs when the luminaries of fire are given power. It is these luminaries of fire that cause the destruction of the temple…Rabeinu, in connection with all this mentioned above, greatly emphasizes the importance of getting up chatzot/midnight to mourn over the destruction of the temple. And anyone who does so, will truly see G-d “replace for the mourners of Tzion splendor instead of ashes…” Rabeinu connects these ideas with why the Divine Presence cries out at the Western Wall and mourns over the fact that her children are in Exile. Rabeinu also explains this in connection with the tefillin, which is also called splendor, with the 4 mentalities granted to Betzalel, revealing G-d's Name, false leaders, the eulogy when a true tzadik passes away, lamenting over the spilling of Jewish blood, the Ba'al Habayit, the Etrog, the beautiful maiden without eyes (Zohar Mishpatim)…

Torah 64 Tinyana: Rabeinu gives us the secret explanation as to why the very wealthy (w/ few as an exception) are very eccentric…Torah 65: When one avenges the vengeance of G-d, it's considered an act of charity…Torah 66: The tzadik is forced to do teshuva on behalf of the Jewish people, for he is affected when a Jew throws off the yoke of the Torah…Rabeinu discusses this in connection to the 4 elements + the 1 simple element from which the 4 elements stem from. He also explains why it is that when one sees the the Tzadik, he can see how he is holding with all his traits. Rabeinu explains the sod/secret as to why the day after Yom Kippur is called “Shem HASHEM-the Name of G-d” and its connection to Shabbat…
Torah 62 Tinyana: Rabeinu teaches us that the journeys of the Jewish People atone for the sin/blemish of idol worship…Rabeinu connects this to G-dly compassion and explains that G-d is always compassionate, even in the afflictions that we receive… BUT we want that G-d gives a compassion that we understand, so we ask G-d that He gives us the compassion in OUR hands so we decide how the compassion is brought down. Torah 63: Yaakov Avinu gave his 10 sons the melody of the Land of Israel when they went down to Egypt. Rabeinu also discusses how each shepherd has a unique melody that is derived from the places in which he pastures, etc… Rabeinu speaks about the greatness of song, the ability it has to draw sustenance to creation, and lots of awesome ideas…
G-d is above and beyond the concept of time, and this we cannot understand because we are limited by the bounds of our human intellect. But Rabeinu teaches us that the greater a persons intellect, the more time becomes meaningless…There's an intellect so high where time is completely nullified and isn't considered anything at all! We see this with the Mashiach, when G-d tells him “you are my son, today I gave birth to you” (Psalms 2). This is evident in a dream as well: it can seem to a person that he went through 70 years in a dream but once he wakes up he realizes it's only been 15 minutes. This is because during sleep, our intellect is taken away and all we have is the imagination, but once our intellect is returned to us, we realize that it's only been an actual 15 minutes.
