Rebecca Schisler joins Something For Everybody this week. Rebecca is a meditation teacher, artist, and Jewish educator. A devoted contemplative practitioner, she is a full-time core faculty member at the Institute for Jewish Spirituality, where she directs young adult programming and founded the Shevet Jewish Mindfulness Community. In addition, she currently teaches mindfulness at Stanford School of Medicine and with Or HaLev as well as a rabbinical student at ALEPH.  In this conversation, Rebecca and I explore the profound themes of mindfulness, suffering, and the intersection of personal and collective experiences, particularly in the context of Jewish tradition and current events. Daily Emunah Podcast - Daily Emunah By Rabbi David Ashear

The pasuk in this week's parsha states: " ויקרא אל משה וידבר ה' אליו מאהל מועד לאמר " - Hashem called to Moshe, and then Moshe entered to speak with Him. At the end of Parashat Pekudei, it says that Moshe was unable to enter the Ohel Mo'ed because the cloud of Hashem had descended upon it. However, in Parashat Mishpatim, it states that Moshe entered the cloud of Hashem at Har Sinai, which seems to indicate that he was able to enter. The Ohr HaChaim explains that in that instance, it first says " ויקרא אל משה " , meaning Hashem called Moshe in first. A person cannot simply enter a place where the Shechina resides. However, if Hashem calls the person in, then it becomes possible. That is why Parashat Vayikra begins with Hashem calling Moshe to enter the Ohel Mo'ed. What did Moshe do to merit this calling? The Shevet Mussar explains that Moshe did not contribute any donations toward the Mishkan, even though he was in charge of its construction. Specifically because he did not contribute, Moshe was chosen for this role—so that no one could ever claim personal credit for building Hashem's house. The Midrash states that the phrase " כאשר צוה ה' את משה " appears 18 times regarding the Mishkan. It gives a parable of a king who commanded his servant to build him a palace. On each part that the servant built, he wrote the name of the king—on the walls, on the pillars, on every detail of the palace. When the king entered and saw his name everywhere, he said: "My servant has honored me so much, and yet I am inside while he remains outside." Immediately, the king called his servant to enter the palace. Similarly, when Hashem instructed Moshe to construct the Mishkan, Moshe "wrote" on everything " כאשר צוה ה' את משה " . Hashem saw that Moshe had given Him all the honor, while he himself remained outside. In response, Hashem called Moshe inside. The phrase " כאשר צוה ה' את משה " reflects Moshe's complete self-nullification. He did not take any credit for his role; rather, he attributed everything to Hashem. Even though Moshe did not physically build the Mishkan, he stood by the workers, reminding them that their strength and talent came from Hashem. He even reminded Betzalel, despite his wisdom, not to lose focus and to recognize that all his abilities were granted by Hashem. The one who did not physically labor was the one invited in—because he gave Hashem the most honor. Humility, in which a person attributes everything to Hashem, brings Hashem honor. In turn, Hashem honors that person. The letter Aleph in Vayikra is small. The Gemara explains that in Moshe's humility, he wanted it to appear as Vayikar (without the Aleph ), implying that Hashem " ויקר -happened" to appear to him, rather than explicitly calling him. He wrote the Aleph small so it would not seem as though he was exceptionally deserving. In the end, Hashem used the extra ink from the small Aleph to make Moshe's face shine. Moshe's name is absent from the Haggadah because Yetziat Mitzrayim was meant to teach for all generations that Hashem alone controls the world. One of the reasons Moshe was chosen as the leader was because he was willing to remove himself from the story and give all credit to Hashem. His humility allowed him to gain immeasurably. Each day, we have the opportunity to serve Hashem in this way. The more we attribute everything we have and do to HaKadosh Baruch Hu , the more He rests His presence upon us. If we internalize that all success comes solely from Him, we truly honor Hashem—and in that merit, may He call us closer to Him. We all desire closeness with Hashem. The path to achieving it is through humility—by recognizing that everything we have and everything we accomplish is entirely from Him. Shabbat Shalom.

Daily Halacha Podcast - Daily Halacha By Rabbi Eli J. Mansour

**Today's Halacha is dedicated f or the refuah and haslacha of Ronnie, Sharon, Eli and all the children of CARE** On Purim morning, one should make an effort to wake up extra early and recite Tehilim. This is based on the Hida (Rav Haim Yosef David Azulai, 1724-1807), who writes in his "Devash L'fi" that there are five special days during the year that one should arise at "Hashkama"-extra early: Tisha B'ab, Shabuot, Rosh Hashana, Hoshana Rabba and Purim. He says that this is alluded to in the word "AVRaHaM" in the verse "Vayashkem AVRraHaM BaBoker"-Avraham arose early in the morning. The letter "Aleph" of Avraham, hints to "Echa" which is read on Tisha B'ab; the "Vet" refers to Shabuot on which the Torah was given, and the Torah begins with the letter "Bet;" the "Resh" refers to Rosh Hashana; the "Heh" alludes to Hoshana Rabbah; and the "Mem" hints to the Megillah of Purim. *** The special Tefila of "Al Hanisim" is inserted into the Amidah of Purim. If one forgot to do so, he does not have to go back and repeat the Amidah. Nevertheless, it is preferable to recite the "Al Hanisim" at the expense of prolonging his Amidah and missing the Kedusha with the Sibbur, than to skip it and finish earlier. *** The Torah reading for Purim is "VaYavo Amalek," in Parshat B'shalach. Since it only has nine verses, the accepted custom is to read the last verse twice to complete the requisite ten verses need for a public Torah reading. It is important for everyone to hear this Parasha. Those who missed hearing Parashat Zachor can fulfill the Misva with this reading, if they have intent to do so. The Kaf HaHaim (Rav Yaakob Haim Sofer, Baghdad-Israel, 1870-1939, Ch. 693:25) writes that if someone cannot attend Bet Knesset on Purim day, he should read this passage by himself at home with the Ta'amim (cantillation). After reading the Torah, the Tefila continues with "Ashreh" and the beginning of "Uva Lesion." The Megillah is read before the Pasuk "V'atah Kadosh." In the morning, "Shehecheyanu" is not recited on the Megillah, according to the practice of the Sepharadim. The Sefer Torah is kept out until after the Megillah is read, because the Megillah states, "LaYehudim Hayta Orah V'simcha, V'saon V'y'kar"-the Jews had light and joy and happiness and glory. The Gemara understands that Orah (light) refers to the light of the Torah. One should not take off his Tefilin before the completion of the Megillah, because the same verse says that the Jews had "Y'kar"-glory. The Gemara understands that it is referring to Tefilin. In fact, the custom is to kiss the Tefilin when that word is read. If there is a Brit Mila, some say that it is performed prior to the Megillah reading to correspond to a word in that same Pasuk "Sason"-joy, which the Hachamim understand to be Brit Mila. However, the accepted practice is to conduct the Mila after Shaharit. *** There is no obligation to recite Hallel on Purim. One reason for this is that the reading of the Megillah, which tells the story of the miraculous events, takes the place of Hallel. Therefore, if one cannot hear the Megillah, there are Poskim who hold that he should recite the complete Hallel. This should be done without a Beracha, as there is a difference of opinion on the matter. After the Shir Shel Yom (Psalm of the Day), the Mizmor (Tehilim 22) "Al Ayelet Hashachar" is added. Esther was referred to as "Ayelet Hashachar," and this was the prayer she offered upon approaching the King's private chamber. *** It is prohibited to eat even a small amount before hearing the Megillah on Purim morning, even if one has already prayed. Therefore, one should insure that his wife and children hear the Megillah promptly, so that they can eat. *** Immediately after Shaharit, the Matanot LaEvyonim are distributed. Performing this Misva early is not only a fulfillment of "Zerizim Makdimim L'Misvot," but it also enables the recipients to use the money to buy what they lack for the holiday. *** The Shulhan Aruch rules that the Beracha of Shehecheyanu is not recited before reading the Megillah in the morning. This applies even if one did not fulfill the Misva of Megillah the previous night. One should have in mind to include the other Misvot when he hears the Beracha at night. *** The Hida (Lev David, Ch. 30) brings a custom for both men and women to light two candles in honor of Mordechai and Esther on Purim. After lighting the candles, one should give Sedaka and offer heartfelt prayers and requests in their merit. There is a widespread custom to don costumes on Purim. The Hida mentions this specifically regarding the Seudah. The Ben Ish Hai (Rav Yosef Haim of Baghdad, 1833-1909, Ateret Tiferet) brings a custom for women to adorn themselves with their fanciest jewelry, even more than Shabbat and Yom Tov. This custom has its origins in the Kabbalah. This should only be done within the confines of her own home and not to go out publicly, so as not to breach the standards of modesty.

In this study we will take a look at the miracles that Yahweh performed on the Egyptians, when Israel was held in bondage, during this period in Exodus. We will see that those miracles were against the Egyptian deities or gods that they worshipped. The story of Moses is not just the story of the freedom of a group of slaves from Egypt in the second millennium BCE. It is the blueprint of the Plan of Salvation of the world as seen from the structure laid down in the Bible. Moses was the prototype of the Christ or Messiah. More importantly, the nation of Israel saw Moses as a prototype and the Bible record illustrates that point. Moses said: ‘And Yahweh said unto me, they have well spoken that which they have spoken. I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.' (Deut. 18:17-18,).In this study I finish  Chapter 6. Then I read from the Legends of the Old Testament, Moses before Pharaoh, page 264 [begin at ‘And the Lord spake…] – 267 and from the Book of Jasher Chapter 809  Moses and Aaron now in the Land of EgyptBut they hearkened not = Their bondage was become so extremely oppressive that they had lost all hope of ever being redeemed from it.Anguish of spirit = קצר רוח  kotzer ruach, shortness of spirit or breath. The words signify that their labor was so continual, and their bondage so cruel and oppressive, that they had scarcely time to breathe.11   that he let = “eth” Aleph = (ox) strength, strong, power, leaderTav = (cross) sign, covenant seal, mark and crossBy using this Hebrew word “eth” we know for sure that Yahshua Messiah is in control. Pharaoh may think that he is in control, but in all reality Yahshua Messiah is in control!12   saying, behold, the children of Israel have not hearkened unto me = even though Moses brought a comfortable message to them from Yahweh, and delivered many gracious promises of His to them, assuring them of deliverance out of Egypt, and of their possession of the land of Canaan. 13   to bring = same word as in verse 6. = “yâtsâ'” “yaw-tsaw'” ‘yod-tsade-aleph' ‘aleph-tav'Yod = (arm and closed hand) work, throw, worshipTsade = (trail) journey, chase, hunt, man on his sidealeph = (ox) strength, strong, power, leaderAleph = (ox) strength, strong, power, leaderTav = (cross) sign, covenant seal, mark and crossThe Hebrew Letter ‘tsade' is a picture of a man laying down or squatting. To issue out of something. To go, come or issue out. Therefore with Yahweh's Elect being squashed by the bondage of Egypt, Yahweh/Yahshua Messiah will break that bondage and bring the Elect out of bondage!  29    of Egypt = “mitsrayim” “mits-rah'-yim” “mem-tsade-resh-yod-mem” Aleph-Tav” Mem = (water) chaos, blood, mighty Tsade = (trail) journey, chase, hunt, man on his side resh = (head of a Man)front, head, chief, first, top, beginning  Yod = (arm and closed hand) work, throw, worship Mem = (water) chaos, blood, mightyAleph = (ox) strength, strong, power, leaderTav = (cross) sign, covenant seal, mark and crosWhen I look at these Hebrew Letters I see the signs of Pharaoh of Egypt. He is a mighty chief man that causes blood, chaos, asking the Hebrew people to work and worship for him, but praise Yahweh/Yahshua Messiah for there is a journey in his future that will destroy his armies!  Have any questions? More importantly, the nation of Israel saw Moses as a prototype and the Bible record illustrates that point. Moses said: ‘And Yahweh said unto me, they have well spoken that which they have spoken. I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.' (Deut. 18:17-18,).In this study we will picked it up in Chapter 6 verse 2 to 92   The emphasis is on the words ‘I am Yahweh'. They are not intended to inform Moses what Yahweh is called, but to impress upon him that ‘the guarantee of the fulfillment of the Divine promises lay in the nature of the Being who had given the promises'. Even the phrase ‘I am Pharaoh' [Gen. 41:44] is merely an assertion of royal authority and power, in the same manner. ‘I am Yahweh,' means, ‘I am He who has the power and faithfulness to fulfill any promise vouchsafed by Me. I have promised Redemption, and I shall fulfill that promise; I will and can do it. Israel shall yet know that I am Yahweh, and Pharaoh, who had contemptuously declared, I know not Yahweh! – he too shall know it.'  3   God Almighty = El Shaddaibut by My name Yahweh = It is certain that the name Yahweh was in use long before the days of Abraham,4      established = “qûm” “koom” “quph-vav-mem” “aleph-tav”quph = (sun on the horizon) condense, circle timevav = (tent peg) add, secure, hookMem = (water) chaos, blood, mightyAleph = (ox) strength, strong, power, leaderTav = (cross) sign, covenant seal, mark and crossTo raise or rise up. Also in the sense of continuing or establishing something.Canaan = “kena‛an” “ken-ah'-an” “kaph-nun-ayin-nun” “Aleph-tav”Kaph = (open palm) bend, open, allow, tameNun = (seed) continue, heir, sonAyin = (eye) watch, know, shade (this letter is basically silent)(seed) continue, heir, sonAleph = (ox) strength, strong, power, leaderTav = (cross) sign, covenant seal, mark and crossWhen you take this word back to the prime, we have a meaning as to bend. When a large bundle is placed on the shoulders the person is bent down low. To be brought down low in humility or submission. Now by adding the “Aleph-Tav” we see that true believers will humble themselves in Yahshua Messiah in order to enter that promise land! land of Canaan = the land that was inhabited by the giants. The land was the future Messiah shall come from.5    I have heard = the pronoun ‘I' is said emphatic. I.e. the same Being who established the CovenantHeard = “shâma‛” “shaw-mah'” “shin-mem-ayin” “Aleph-tav”Shin = (two front teeth) sharp, press, eat twoMem = (water) chaos, blood, mightyAyin = (eye) watch, know, shade (this letter is basically silent)Aleph = (ox) strength, strong, power, leaderTav = (cross) sign, covenant seal, mark and crossThere the meaning is a careful hearing of someone or something, as well as responding appropriately in obedience or action. As Yahweh/Yahshua Messiah hears the cries of their Elect, they prepare to take action against their Elect.Have any questions? Feel free to email me keitner2024@outlook.com

In this episode of Out of the Clouds host Anne Mühlethaler explores the evolution of digital spaces with Sari Azout, founder of Sublime, a personal knowledge management tool for creatives. Born in Barranquilla, Colombia — the magical hometown of Shakira and Gabriel García Márquez — Sari describes herself as a cerebral child who found her intellectual home first at Brown University, where she developed a "fiercely independent mindset" and discovered the joy of the library as a social space. With remarkable foresight( Sari "could always see around corners") she strategically planned her path to remain in the U.S. as an international student and got into banking, ultimately landing at Barclays during the 2008 financial crisis. This experience taught her valuable lessons about the importance of connecting work to meaningful impact.Next the pair discuss Sari's project, Sublime. Sari articulates her vision as both practical and philosophical, calling it "the personal knowledge management tool of my dreams." She explains that in a world where "intelligence is being commoditized," what remains valuable are "conviction, point of view, courage, intention — the artist's way." This connects to her writing practice, which has revealed that "ideas never come to me before I write. They always come to me in the process of writing."Their conversation delves into Sublime's three core promises: never lose a valuable idea, never be uninspired, and transform from passive consumption to active creation. Sari emphasizes wanting to "facilitate helping people make things, not just consume things," noting that "being a consumer is just a state of helplessness." Drawing inspiration from books and Marshall McLuhan's quote that "the medium is the message," she envisions a "sublime internet" that moves away from quantifiable metrics toward meaningful engagement.Sari also speaks candidly about the tension between selfishness and selflessness in entrepreneurship, and her "willingness to be misunderstood for a longer period." She shares her vision of transitioning from the attention economy to the intention economy, reframing digital tools as something "people use instead of products people consume."The episode concludes with Sari sharing her perspective on happiness and describing her version of "paradise on earth" as working all day alone in anticipation of an evening in great company. This interview with Sari is a fascinating exploration of how we might build more intentional, meaningful digital spaces that serve our creativity rather than just our consumption. Also to give or place as a meeting. This was all divine, this was Elohims plan for that rescue of His Elect.21   abhorred = stink in the eyes. The officer's firm belief, upon Moses and Aaron, may Yahweh requite you for the evil you have brought upon the Israelites!23 Hast thou delivered = The verb נצל ‘natsal' signifies, not only to spoil, snatch away, but also to get away, to escape, to deliver, to regain, or recover. Spoil signifies what is taken by rapine or violence; but this cannot be the meaning of the original word here, as the Israelites only asked, and the Egyptians without fear, terror, or constraint, freely gave. “nun-tsade-lamed” “Aleph-tav”Nun = (seed) continue, heir, sonTsade = (trail) journey, chase, hunt, man on his sideLamed = lamed – (shepherd staff), teach, yoke, to bindAleph = (ox) strength, strong, power, leaderTav = (Cross) sign, covenant seal, mark and cross What we learn from Moses as he blows off his disappointment against Yahweh, that we must be patienced. The time was not yet. Elohim is in charge. We must keep our faith in Him and be paitenced. Chapter 61              now shalt thou see = Yahweh calms Moses by renewing the promise of redemptionfor with a strong hand = Compelled by the power of YahwehNow we go into the “Renewed Promise of Redemption”These verses are the concluding portion of the Call of Moses, and can only be understood in connection with Chapters 3 and 4. In view of the despair and despondency of both Moses and the People recorded in the last chapter and in reply to the reproach of Moses ‘Thou hast not delivered Thy people,' Yahweh repeats the promises of redemption made at Horeb.Have any questions? Ultimately, we move from constricted consciousness to the full light of oneness, redeeming the Aleph hidden beneath the Bet.

Psalm 119 is the longest chapter of the entire Bible consisting of 176 verses broken down into 22 stanzas. And every line of the psalm is focused on one specific theme: the Word of God. Using an alphabetic acrostic structure, the psalmist uniquely shares with us his praise for the scriptures, the power found in its pages, and the practicality it provides us daily. The words of Psalm 119 serve as the key to unlocking a deeper love for all of God's Word, allowing every verse, chapter, and book of the Bible to shine its light on the path of our lives.

We've got a heady mix of Romanian politics, online misogyny and animal-based chaos for you this week. Friend of the show Andrei Popoviciu joins us to explain why his dad and many other voters backed the TikTok-fuelled campaign of far-right Romanian presidential candidate Călin Georgescu. And we ring up three young people from Greece, Ireland and Lithuania to ask: what's it like being part of a generation that's increasingly divided over whether feminism is a good thing? Plus, hamsters. Lots of hamsters.    This week's interview with Siloé Musoke, Goda Skiotytė and Chris Ntonis was produced in collaboration with the European Institute for Gender Equality. You can find out all about the Gender Equality Forum 2024, and sign up to attend online, here.   You can follow Andrei on Twitter here and Bluesky here.   Thanks for listening!
