Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every day. Today's shout-out goes to Henry Kunkel from West Islip, NY. Thank you for partnering with us through Project23. You're helping others find peace in the middle of their storms. This one's for you. Our text today is Mark 6:45-52: Immediately he made his disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, to Bethsaida, while he dismissed the crowd. And after he had taken leave of them, he went up on the mountain to pray. And when evening came, the boat was out on the sea, and he was alone on the land. And he saw that they were making headway painfully, for the wind was against them. And about the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea. He meant to pass by them, but when they saw him walking on the sea they thought it was a ghost, and cried out, for they all saw him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.” And he got into the boat with them, and the wind ceased. And they were utterly astounded, for they did not understand about the loaves, but their hearts were hardened. — Mark 6:45-52 After feeding thousands, Jesus sends the disciples ahead in a boat while he goes up the mountain to pray. They head out across the water, probably expecting a simple trip to the other side. But as night falls, things get difficult. The wind picks up. The boat stalls. And the disciples are stuck—rowing with everything they've got but making little progress. It's late, probably around 3:00 a.m. They're exhausted, confused, and afraid. And Jesus sees them stuck in the middle. But he doesn't shout from the shoreline or send instructions from the mountain. He walks out to them—on the water. But when they see him, they don't recognize him. They think he's a ghost. Fear takes over. And they cry out. But Jesus responds with calm assurance: “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.” Right in the middle of the storm, he shows up. He gets into the boat with them. The wind dies down. Peace returns. It's a miracle and an important one. Jesus doesn't meet them at the beginning of the storm or the end of the storm. He meets them in the middle of it. When they are the most exhausted. When they are about to give up hope. And he still does that. Jesus doesn't always wait for the waves to settle or the skies to clear. Sometimes, he steps right into your chaos—right in the middle of your confusion and fear. Then he comes close. Not to condemn your fear but to calm your heart. And often, his presence is the peace you've been looking for all along. If you're weary, stuck, or straining against the wind—know this: He meets you in the middle. Not when it's over. Not when you've figured it out. But right in the thick of it. Are you in the storm today? Stop fearing, call out to him. Jesus, we call out for you in our storm. Come to us. Give us peace. Command our storm. Call it calm. Amen ASK THIS: Why did Jesus let the disciples struggle before coming to them? What does this moment teach you about how Jesus shows up in your life? Where do you feel like you're “rowing against the wind”? What would it look like to trust Jesus in the middle of it—not just when it's over DO THIS: Write down one area of your life that feels stuck or stormy. Take a few minutes today to sit quietly and ask Jesus to meet you in that space. PRAY THIS: Jesus, I'm tired of trying to row through this on my own. Thank you for coming close. Help me feel your presence and trust your peace, even in the middle of the storm. Amen. PLAY THIS: Peace be Still.
In our last episode, we took an overview of what's often called the Wisdom of the Ages—that deep current of higher understanding that human beings have accessed in every culture, across every era, since the beginning of recorded history. Whether through the teachings of sages, mystics, philosophers, or poets, there has always been a thread of knowledge that points to something greater within us. Something whole. Something awake. We also mentioned that in the last decade or so, something truly remarkable has happened: Modern neuroscience—once considered purely mechanical and clinical—has begun to validate this ancient wisdom. Research into neuroplasticity, emotional regulation, attentional states, and brain-body coherence is now confirming what these timeless traditions have pointed to all along: We are more powerful, more adaptable, and more connected than we ever realized. That's what led to the creation of the NeuroHarmonic Method—a new synthesis that blends these two worlds. By combining the insights of cutting-edge neuroscience with the Wisdom of the Ages, NeuroHarmonics makes this knowledge easier to understand, easier to practice, and—most importantly—easier to live. Now, the logical next step in this podcast series is to explore what neuroscience has actually discovered—and how those discoveries can help each of us step into a new kind of transformation, one that's not based on willpower or wishful thinking, but on real, grounded inner change. Because the point of all this isn't just theory—it's transformation. This work is meant to give you something real. Something useful. Something that you can feel changing you from the inside out. But before we get into how we can change, it's essential to take an honest look at where we are right now. What is life really like for most adults in the modern Western world? What patterns are shaping us? What silent forces are steering us? And most importantly… what's getting in the way of us achieving our highest potential, which is far greater than most of us have ever dreamed? So here goes. The Hidden Grip of Self-Sabotage Let's start with something that's rarely said out loud, but quietly true for more people than we might imagine: Most adults—in actuality, the large majority—are engaged in some form of something called self-sabotage. That might sound dramatic, but it's not. Studies and clinical experience suggest that anywhere from half to three-quarters of us routinely act against our own best interests in one key area of life or another. It might show up as procrastination or a head-in-the sand approach when something truly matters. Or emotional withdrawal right when connection is needed most in some kind of relationship. It can take the form of extreme perfectionism, chronic indecision, financial self-sabotage, even staying in relationships or environments that consistently drain our light. And here's the thing: self-sabotage often doesn't look dramatic. It can be subtle— even silent—operating in the background of life like a faulty program you forgot was running on your computer. You say you want growth, healing and joy… but when the opportunity comes, something in you suddenly steps on the emergency brake. Even though it may feel like it, that something is not the enemy. It's just a deeply ingrained, outdated survival strategy—a neural echo of an old fear, hurt, or belief that once served a purpose, but now only keeps you stuck in your own small prison Now self-sabotage can wear many disguises. It often shows up in a thousand different micro-decisions: Not applying for the job you're qualified for. Undermining a relationship just when it starts to go to a deeper level. Avoiding your creative work, putting it off for one more day only to settle for one more excuse. Or eating and drinking in ways that numb the discomfort, instead of looking for the message of solution beneath it all. Most of these behaviors stem from a kind of split within: a conflict between what we consciously desire and what we unconsciously fear. And until that split is seen, honored, and integrated, we remain divided—longing for freedom with one hand while pulling ourselves back with the other. And remember what Uncle Abe once said about a house divided against itself. It cannot stand. Impostor Syndrome: The Quiet Twin of Self-Sabotage One of the most common—and most corrosive—forms of self-sabotage is something you've probably heard of called impostor syndrome, where that doubtful voice whispers, “I don't care what you or anyone else thinks you are. I know who you really are – this is all a big show and you're a fraud and soon everyone will know it.” It's the haunting suspicion that your success is a fluke, and it's only a matter of time before your house of cards caves in. It can strike anyone on the chain - new graduates to seasoned CEOs. Artists, healers, scientists, even spiritual teachers. And it doesn't discriminate: some of the most “successful” people are deeply haunted by it daily. It usually has two voices within us – the inner critic and the inner saboteur, as this dynamic duo works together in a lot of areas of life, along with their starring roles in the imposter movie. The Critic activates circuits of shame and anxiety, while the Saboteur activates circuits of avoidance, freeze response, and safety-seeking.They are two manifestations of one core dynamic: the Ordinary Mind trying to protect you, using outdated strategies that block your expansion. The Hidden Source of Our Unhappiness Now, if you were to trace the root of much of our unhappiness—not just the fleeting kind, but the deep, chronic ache that follows us through the years—you would often find self-sabotage at the core. Of course, it hides behind other names: frustration, fatigue, disappointment, regret. But underneath, there's a deeper truth. We suffer because part of us longs to grow, expand, love, and thrive—while another part that's quietly afraid, keeps pulling us back into the familiar confines of what we've always known. This tug-of-war drains our energy, clouds our clarity, and fractures our confidence. It turns joy into a guilty pleasure, and purpose into an elusive dream. Healing this inner divide isn't just hard—it's often confusing, because on the surface it can look like laziness, moodiness, or a lack of discipline. But if we go deeper—if we see with a more compassionate eye—we begin to recognize that what's actually happening is a kind of inner war. The War Between the States - of Consciousness In NeuroHarmonics this is termed The War Between the States of Consciousness. It's not fought on battlefields or in boardrooms—it's fought within the hidden corridors of the human mind. At its core, it's a battle between two fundamental aspects of our awareness: Our Higher Mind and Our Ordinary Mind. The Higher Mind holds our vision, our purpose, our clarity, our compassion, and our deep intuitive knowing. This is the part of you that glimpses what's possible—the spark that says, Yes, this life can be beautiful. It's all possible and I can do it. The Ordinary Mind on the other hand, is rooted in survival, pattern, habit, and fear. It runs on old programming, shaped by childhood experiences, cultural conditioning, and unresolved emotional pain. It doesn't consciously want to hurt you—but it does want to keep you safe, even if that safety comes at the cost of your happiness and growth. The problem is, the Ordinary Mind doesn't trust the Higher Mind. It is deeply skeptical of change. It hears your dreams and says, Be careful, we've failed at this before. It sees your growth and says, Not so fast, this can be dangerous. And when you try to step forward, toward something meaningful, it tightens the leash, not because it's cruel, but because of its inherent fear. So there is a kind of civil war happening inside, with neurons actually firing against each other. Basically, the Higher Mind pulls you forward, and the Ordinary Mind pushes you back. The result? Self-sabotage. Stagnation. But it's not always this clear or dramatic. Quite often, it's just a quiet, aching sadness that says, I know I was meant for more in this life, but for some reason, I just can't seem to get there. The Path to Resolution: The NeuroHarmonic Approach Now, the NeuroHarmonic Method was born out of this realization—that we are not broken, just simply divided. That what we truly need is not another technique to force ourselves into better habits, but a unified intelligence that can resolve the war between the Higher Mind and the Ordinary Mind with grace, understanding, clarity and lasting harmony. Rooted in the Wisdom of the Ages and now supported by modern neuroscience, NeuroHarmonics offers a simple, accessible way for people to begin harmonizing the multiple layers of their being—body, brain, breath and life force, emotion, and consciousness. It draws on higher truths and methods taught by sages, mystics, and philosophers across centuries, and brings them into dialogue with the latest understandings of neuroplasticity, emotional regulation, and the power of attentional states. But a key part of what makes it unique is its gentleness. This isn't a system designed to push you harder or pressure you to be someone you're not. It's designed to help you remember who you already are—and to create the inner conditions that allow your deeper inner truth to rise naturally into your awareness. True transformation, after all, isn't about solving the problem with more effort. It's about changing the level of consciousness from which the problem arose in the first place. As Einstein said so clearly: “No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.” And Carl Jung added a tremendous understanding to it when he said, “The real problems of life can never be solved. They must be outgrown.” NeuroHarmonics is about exactly that—outgrowing the conflict within. It's about stepping into a new dimension of being, where your Higher Mind begins to lead, and importantly, the Ordinary Mind is not defeated, but soothed and rewired to become an integral part of the whole. Through clear information and practices that engage breath, attention, reflection, and neural retraining, we shift the very architecture of our awareness. And in doing so, we move from internal sabotage to internal support. From confusion to clarity. From fragmented willpower to coherent intention. In essence, from self-sabotage to self-empowerment. Then we begin to experience real happiness—not the fleeting high of achievement or distraction, but the grounded joy of being aligned with our deeper purpose and truth. This is not magic. It's not mysticism. And yet, it can feel like both. Because when inner conflict dissolves, and harmony returns, we remember what it means to feel whole again and truly connected to what is often called the Divine Presence within. The Key to the Game: You Are Not Stuck If you take nothing else from all of this information, remember this one thing: you are not stuck. Whatever patterns have kept you looping in frustration, hesitation, or fear—they are not permanent. They are not who you are. They are simply neural pathways—grooves in the brain that have been etched over time through repetition, emotion, and experience. And remarkably, they can definitely be changed. Because here's the incredible truth: Your brain was designed to change. It does it all day every day, all the time. That's what neuroplasticity is - the proven fact that your neural circuits can be reshaped, rewired, and renewed at any age. You are never too far gone. Never too broken. It's never too late. All what's really bothering you… is just a wiring issue. Think of it like this: imagine a sophisticated sound system playing beautiful music, but suddenly there's is terrible screeching noise coming through the speakers. It sounds like a major malfunction. You could tear the whole system apart trying to fix it. But then—someone calmly walks over and simply turns the microphone away from the speaker, and the screeching feedback stops and harmony is restored. It turns out that it wasn't a major hardware issue at all. It was just a simple matter of alignment. In the same way, most of our inner noise—our sabotage, our sadness, our fear—comes from one part of the mind feeding into another in a destructive loop. But when we turn the microphone around to where it should be, when we shift our attention from the reactive Ordinary Mind to the wise and guiding Higher Mind—the distortion begins to fade. And here's the really good news: Even though you may not be connected to it at all, Your Higher Mind is still alive and well. It hasn't gone anywhere. It is the voice of reason, of intuition, of self-regulation, of deep compassion and clear knowing. It is the home of your better angels—the part of you that remembers how to choose peace over panic, purpose over paralysis, love over fear. So, what the NeuroHarmonic Method helps us do is resolve this inner war. It helps the misfiring circuits stop fighting each other. It brings the whole system—your thoughts, your feelings, your body, your breath—into harmonic convergence with the Higher Mind. And when that happens… the feedback loop stops and the screeching noise fades. Now the music of your life can finally be heard again, clearly, beautifully, and unmistakably you. If nothing else, let today be the day you stop believing the lie that you're stuck. You're not. You're just waiting for the harmony to return. And it will when you want it. Because it's already within you—right where it's always been. Well, enough said. Let's end this episode here, and as always, keep your eyes, mind and heart open, and let's get together in the next one.
BAHALOTECHADeveloping a Positivity BiasHow can people stand before the most uplifting events in history and cry over trivialities? How is it possible to cross the sea and receive bread from heaven, to receive the Torah at Mount Sinai and witness the Divine Presence resting upon the Tabernacle—and complain that there's no garlic and onions to spice the fish?Because the mind plays tricks on us. The brain lies and creates a distorted picture of reality. Psychologists call this the “negativity bias.” The brain gives much more weight to negative events than to positive ones and highlights only those. Research says it takes five positive events to balance out one negative one.

Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every single day. We are in the Gospel of Mark. Visit the website and purchase the Scripture Journal for this study so that you can follow along with us. Today, we're looking at Mark 2:18-20: Now John's disciples and the Pharisees were fasting. And people came and said to him, “Why do John's disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not fast?” And Jesus said to them, “Can the wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast. The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast in that day. — Mark 2:18-20 People didn't know what to do with Jesus. He wasn't following their religious routines. He wasn't fasting like the Pharisees or even like John's disciples. To the watching crowd, it seemed like Jesus was breaking the rules. But Jesus wasn't breaking rules or ignoring tradition—he was living by God's rule while fulfilling God's plan. In a way, this appeared new to many onlookers. But it wasn't new. It was just lived out completely and perfectly, and not in the way people expected. Then he answered their question using an image they would understand: a wedding feast. No one fasts when the groom is standing in the room. You celebrate. You feast. You enjoy the moment. Jesus was showing them something revolutionary: The Bridegroom was here. The celebration had started. The feast had begun. There would be a time for fasting again, but that time wasn't now. Right now, they were standing in the presence of God made flesh—and that demanded a response of joy. Jesus showed us a better way. No rituals. No checklists. Just joy. Because the bridegroom was here and rose again. Feast. Laugh. Worship. Live every moment in the celebration of his presence. Let that joy fuel your day—and everything you share with others. #BridegroomHere, #FeastNotFast, #Mark2 ASK THIS: How might I shift from religious routine to genuine joy in Jesus today? What “feast” can I create to celebrate Christ's presence in my life? When have I mistaken rituals for relationship in my faith journey? How will I prepare my heart to fast when the bridegroom is away? DO THIS: Today, choose joy over obligation—celebrate Jesus' presence with a smile, song, or shared meal. PRAY THIS: Jesus, I rejoice in your presence as my bridegroom and find freedom in celebrating you. Help me feast on your grace today. Amen PLAY THIS: House of the Lord.
Applying Buddha's Teachings in day-to-day life. "World peace begins with individual peace", "The way to attain harmony and unity is serving the community", "The wheel of karma is inexorable; the best way out of it is to do one's dharma diligently". In this manner, Mr RJ Rathnakar, the Managing Trustee of Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, for over 55 mins, explained the nuances of Buddhism through the teachings of Swami to the hundreds of devotees from Zone 4 and 5 of Sri Sathya Sai Global Council who had gathered in Prasanthi Nilayam to celebrate Buddha Poornima in the Divine Presence of Bhagawan. Interlaced with many profound and humorous anecdotes and insights, Mr Rathnakar dwelt on the themes of "Buddham Sharanam Gachchami, Dhammam Sharanam Gachchami, Sangham Sharanam Gachchami" in an engaging manner, driving home powerful takeaways that devotees can practice in their daily lives to experience inner happiness and always remain connected to Bhagawan. This Satsang is being shared to help everyone in their spiritual journey.
Long time no talk! By talk, we mean screaming into the void. Put your headphones on -- we have a lot of catching up to do. We know. We disappeared. But like any good ghosting situation, we're returning with no explanation… except an entire episode of explanations. In our first episode since January, we blow the dust off our mics and confront who we thought we were before life sideswiped us with plot twists, spiritual detours, and 47 new existential crises. This comeback episode is equal parts cute and chaotic. Featuring six semi-structured segments (plus a fully unhinged AI narrator for no good reason whatsoever), we reflect on how we've changed since January, chew on the ways the world has changed, and hopefully we also make you feel a little bit better if your current bar for thriving is "I cried, but I scheduled it." Let's all trauma dump together into the abyss and hope the abyss claps back with some clarity, shall we? We're back. We missed you. New episodes are coming regularly. In this enlightening episode of "Father and Joe," Joe Rockey and Father Boniface Hicks engage in a profound discussion about the dynamics of the apostles' relationships with Jesus, exploring how these interactions reflect our contemporary relationships with God. The episode begins with an examination of the apostles' journey with Jesus, acknowledging their fluctuating faith and fear, especially during significant moments like the calming of the storm and the events leading up to Good Friday.Joe and Father delve into the innate human tendency to call upon divine intervention only during times of distress, neglecting to recognize and invite God's presence throughout the mundane and joyous aspects of our lives. They challenge listeners to consider how their own relationship with God is similarly compartmentalized, perhaps reduced to moments of desperation or prosperity, rather than an ongoing, integrated communion.Father Boniface emphasizes the importance of fostering a relationship with God that transcends circumstantial need. By drawing parallels between modern practices and the apostles' misconceptions, he highlights how embracing holistic spirituality requires acknowledging God in every facet of daily life—from tasks as simple as schooling and business to profound life decisions and moments of crisis. The episode lays bare the pitfalls of relegating spirituality to a mere contingency measure and proposes a transformative approach through kindness and curiosity. These tools enable individuals to explore their spiritual lives more fully, understanding the habitual barriers that limit divine interaction. Joe and Father stress the importance of cultivating a spiritual discipline where Jesus is omnipresent—integrated seamlessly into every decision, action, and relationship.Listeners are invited to use the forthcoming Easter celebrations as a catalyst for this change, fostering a spiritual habit that welcomes God's grace into every moment. By reflecting on the kindness and curiosity method, one can start to dismantle the subconscious walls that hinder spiritual growth, paving the way for a more profound connection with God.Tags:faith journey, relationship with God, apostles, spiritual growth, Jesus Christ, Easter reflection, divine presence, spirituality, kindness and curiosity, overcoming fear, holistic spirituality, modern faith, religion, integrating God, personal growth, apostles' faith, divine intervention, spiritual discipline, trusting God, cultivating faith, God in daily life, transformative spirituality, finding God, spiritual habits, opening to God, divine connection, spiritual transformation, fear and faith, transcending need, divine communion, spiritual celebration, faith reinforcement, God in moments, embracing spirituality, inner spirituality, relationship dynamics, faith obstacles, spiritual awareness, Easter journeyHashtags:#FaithJourney, #RelationshipWithGod, #Apostles, #SpiritualGrowth, #JesusChrist, #EasterReflection, #DivinePresence, #Spirituality, #KindnessAndCuriosity, #OvercomingFear, #HolisticSpirituality, #ModernFaith, #IntegratingGod, #PersonalGrowth, #ApostlesFaith, #DivineIntervention, #SpiritualDiscipline, #TrustingGod, #CultivatingFaith, #GodInDailyLife, #TransformativeSpirituality, #FindingGod, #SpiritualHabits, #OpeningToGod, #DivineConnection, #SpiritualTransformation, #FearAndFaith, #TranscendingNeed, #DivineCommunion, #SpiritualCelebration, #FaithReinforcement, #GodInMoments, #EmbracingSpirituality, #InnerSpirituality, #RelationshipDynamics, #FaithObstacles, #SpiritualAwareness, #EasterJourney

When you start seeing the first evidence of genuine change and begin to delight in your new life, that's First Fruits taking effect. But don't stop there. God has designed a deeper immersion awaiting you at Pentecost. This isn't just about speaking in tongues—it's about flooding your soul with God's Word until competing voices are silenced. This extended encounter with God's presence writes His nature on your heart, not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God. During this Pentecostal season, something profound happens: the seven spirits of God (wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, fear of the Lord, and the Spirit of the Lord Himself) become operational in your life. These aren't simply concepts but living impartations that transform how you perceive reality. The ultimate purpose of this spiritual flooding is to prepare you for the fall feasts. At Trumpets, you'll speak with divine authority that comes from revelation, not mere knowledge. At Atonement, you'll experience the reality of your union with Christ. And finally, at Tabernacles, your spiritual DNA will be permanently altered, making you "like unto the Son of God." This entire journey represents what God originally offered His people—forty days and nights of uninterrupted communion—now broken into installments for those who couldn't receive it all at once. Don't be satisfied with partial transformation. Press forward until you experience the complete cycle of feasts, until your nature is fully aligned with Christ's. Today's Talmud pages, Sanhedrin 103 and 104, argue that slanderers, flatterers, liars, and cynics are the only four groups who will not receive the Divine Presence. Rabbi Dovid Bashevkin joins us to explain why these four, and they alone, were singled out. What was their particular sin, and why we moderns must still watch out for it today? Listen and find out.
This month's learning is sponsored by Linda and Jay Marcus in honor of the recent birth of their granddaughter; and the anniversaries and birthdays of their children and grandchildren during Nissan. "בניסן נגאלו ובניסן עתידין להיגאל. May we merit to see the גאולה שלמה במהרה בימינו." Today's daf is sponsored by Lisa Kolodny in honor of Nancy Kolodny's birthday! "So happy you are spending more time in Israel this year, spreading your light, your wisdom and your love to all those around you." There is a debate about whether Menashe received a portion in the World-to-Come. Rabbi Yochanan brings three drashot in the name of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, each relating to different kings of the Judean kingdom, highlighting how far God goes to allow repentance. He also brought another drasha relating to the disgrace of the Sanhedrin at the time of the Babylonian exile. Rav Chisda says in the name of Rabbi Yirmia bar Abba three statements - one relating to the bad actions of some of the Judean kings, one relating to types of people who are not worthy of receiving the Divine Presence, and one explaining the verses in Tehillim 91:11-13 about evil not coming upon a person. Why is the letter ayin in 'reshaim' suspended above the other letters in the verse in Iyov 38:15? A braita explains that Menashe, Achav, and Yeravam all learned Torah, highlighting that their sins were worse, as they clearly understood the Torah and sinned nevertheless, with full intent. Other braitot suggest that other kings lost their portion in the World-to-Come. Descriptions are brought about some of the bad kings and how their action led to the destruction of the Beit Hamikdash.

When is the Messiah going to come? What kind of destruction/change of world order will precede the coming of the Messiah? There are several different descriptions of the signs to be expected. Some sages offered suggestions for what year to expect the Messiah. However, some hold that one cannot try to estimate when the Messiah will come. However, we are commanded to wait in hope for the Messiah's arrival, as is derived from Yeshayahu 30:18. From that same verse, it is derived that there are thirty-six righteous people in every generation who greet the Divine Presence. Other sources indicate other amounts of righteous people and these differences are reconciled. Rav holds that all the times the Messiah was supposed to come have now passed, and it is all dependent on the people repenting and doing good deeds. Shmuel holds that even without good deeds and repentance, eventually, the mourning will be so great that God will redeem the people. Their debate is similar to a tannaitic debate between Rabbi Eliezer and Rabbi Yehoshua. They each bring verses in the Torah to prove their side of the argument - will the repentance come from the people or will God force it upon them when God decides it is time?

The season of Lent is a time of preparation, of deepening our relationship with the Divine and preparing to receive a miracle! Rather than focusing on sacrificing something you enjoy (giving up something for Lent), I recommend doing MORE of what you truly yearn for…something that will give you more love, peace, and connection. That's why I am recommending my book, Meditation is Friendship with God! This book will teach you the nuts and bolts of meditation, but it will also take you beyond meditation techniques, to developing an intimate relationship with the Divine. In this episode, I take you through a mini quiz to help you determine whether your current concept of God works for you, and if not, how to create one that does! If you would like to purchase this book, click here for the Show Notes PS- if you want to go even deeper in meditation, you can still join the new training – Meditate Like Mother Mary Key Learnings: If you were raised with a concept of God that made you feel anxious, afraid, judged or anything negative, know that you can change that right now. Nothing negative is of God, that is the ego projecting itself onto the Divine. If you had a challenging relationship with your parents, it might be difficult to relate to God as Divine Mother or Father. But most of us have had a friend, or can at least imagine a friend, who cares for us and treats us as equals. Meditation is a relationship. It is a process of creating more and more intimacy with your own Self. As we learn to deeply relax, we become aware of the Divine Presence that is always present. We learn to become God's friend. “We are most genuinely ourselves when we are expansive. Why? Because that is when we are most like God.” To purchase Meditation is Friendship with God, click here To register for Meditate Like Mother Mary, click here To join the Magnify Your Miracles membership, click here If you love the image on the wall behind me of Mother Mary Blessing the World, you can order your own museum quality copy at www.deepaliu.com
The Light of God is always shining. But the ego mind has turned away from the Source and is lost in the darkness of delusion. This is the moment that the Supreme Self has chosen to return, bringing all souls back to the eternal stillness and peace of the Infinite Merciful Heart of the Real. For the ego, this will seem like world destruction, while for the illumined souls, this is the moment of redemption. The end is also the new beginning. The Kingdom of Heaven awaits those who surrender all to the Lord in humble adoration. Make use of this window of greatest opportunity while it is open. In this teaching, the seven secret teachings of Shiva are explained in depth. These keys will unlock the intellect's ability to transcend the false self-identity and rise as soul-consciousness into the blissful unmanifest Divine Presence.
Daily Halacha Podcast - Daily Halacha By Rabbi Eli J. Mansour
King David proclaims in Tehillim (17:15), "Ani Be'sedek Eheze Fanecha" – "I shall behold Your countenance in righteousness." The Gemara in Masechet Baba Batra (10) explains this verse as revealing a fundamental precept relevant to Sedaka (charity) – that whoever involves himself in charity earns the privilege of beholding the Divine Presence. King David here teaches us that "Be'sedek," through the great merit of Sedaka, "Eheze Fanecha" – one is rewarded with the privilege of beholding a revelation of Hashem. This concept is seen in other sources, as well. Parashat Vayera begins by telling us that Hashem revealed Himself to Abraham Abinu: "Vayera Elav Hashem." The Sages explain that G-d came to Abraham to perform "Bikur Holim" (visiting the sick), as Abraham was recovering from the painful procedure of circumcision. Of course, Hashem does not visit every ailing righteous person. Why, then, did He appear to Abraham Abinu at this time? The answer is provided in the continuation of the verse, which tells us that Abraham was sitting outside his tent, in the heat of the day, looking for wayfarers in need of hospitality. As Abraham made a special effort to involve himself in Hesed (kindness), he was worthy of beholding a revelation of G-d. This can be seen also in the Misva of Aliya Le'regel, which requires making a pilgrimage to the Bet Ha'mikdash every Pesah, Shabuot and Sukkot with special sacrifices. The Torah commands that on these three occasions, "Year'eh Kol Zechurcha" ("all your males shall be seen" by G-d), and the Gemara interprets the word "Yera'eh" to mean not only that we are seen by Hashem on these occasions, but also that we see Him. (The word "Yera'eh" can be read as "Yir'eh" – "will see.") However, the Torah adds, "Lo Yera'u Fanai Rekam" – we cannot come to the Bet Ha'mikdash on the festivals "emptyhanded." In order to behold the Shechina (Divine Presence), we must offer sacrifices. We earn the great privilege of seeing G-d's presence only by giving. For this reason, the Arizal (Rav Yishak Luria of Safed, 1534-1572) taught that nowadays, when we do not have the Bet Ha'mikdash, we must give charity before every Yom Tob. Just as we needed to bring sacrifices in the Bet Ha'mikdash to behold the Shechina on the holidays, nowadays we must give charity in order to have this special privilege. The Ba'al Shem Tob (1698-1760) taught that the Shechina descends upon a person when he gives charity because the Divine Name is symbolically formed through the act of giving. The small coin, or bill, which one gives represents the first letter of Hashem's Name, the letter "Yod." One takes the coin or bill in his hand, which has five fingers, and thus corresponds to the letter "Heh" (which has the numerical value of 5). The outstretched arm as one gives the money represents the tall, straight letter "Vav," and the needy person's hand which receives the charity symbolizes the final letter "Heh," thus spelling the Name of "Havaya" ("Yod"-"Heh"-"Vav"-"Heh"'). Therefore, by giving charity, we bring Hashem's presence. In light of this teaching, the Kabbalists instruct that if one is placing Sedaka money in a charity box, instead of giving it directly to a needy individual, he should first transfer the money from one hand to the other. If one is placing the money into a box, there is no final "Heh," as the recipient does not receive the money directly from the donor. Therefore, in order to form the final letter, one should move the money from one hand to the other and then place it in a box. This practice is alluded to in the verse which commands giving charity, "Naton Titen" ("you shall surely give" – Debarim 15:10). The phrase "Naton Titen" alludes to two acts of giving – moving the charity money from hand to the next, and then placing it in the Sedaka box. Moreover, the Kabbalists teach that in order to create the Name, one must initiate the process of giving. If one waits for the needy individual to come and outstretch his arm, requesting assistance, then the sequence of the letters is distorted. The Name must begin with the letter "Yod," which, as mentioned, corresponds to the money which one gives. Therefore, one must not wait for the person in need to come and ask for help, and should instead approach the poor person and outstretch his arm with the donation, in order to spell the Name the right way. This is alluded to in the aforementioned verse in Tehillim, in which David says, "Ani Be'sedek" – "I, through charity," referring to his initiating the donation of charity. The verse continues, "Esbe'a Be'hakitz Temunatecha" (literally, "I shall be satiated by Your image when I awaken"), which can be understood to mean that if we must be "awakened" by a needy person asking for help, rather than initiating the donation, then we see only "Temunatecha" – a vague image. If we give only after we are approached, then we form the Name, but the letters are jumbled, so we do not behold Hashem clearly. It is only when "Ani Be'sedek," when we initiate the giving of charity, that "Ehezeh Panecha," we see Hashem's countenance clearly. This verse also teaches us another vitally important concept relevant to charity. The Gemara tells that Rabbi Eliezer would make a point of giving charity before prayer, based on this verse in Tehillim – "Ani Be'sedek Eheze Fanecha," which could be read to mean that David came to "see G-d" in prayer after fulfilling the Misva of charity ("Be'sedek"). The great merit of this special Misva helps ensure the prayer's acceptance. Indeed, the Pele Yoetz (Rav Eliezer Papo, 1785-1828) writes that synagogues should place a charity box near the entrance so that everyone can give money to charity immediately upon entering. Even if not, one should try to at least set money aside for charity before each prayer, and this will help the prayer achieve the desired result. This concept may be explained in light of the Arizal's teaching that before one prays, he should declare that he accepts upon himself the Misva of "Ve'ahabta Le're'acha Kamocha" ("You shall love your fellow as yourself"), and proclaim his love for all his fellow Jews. This has been explained based on a parable of two brothers who lived in different countries, one of whom was very wealthy, and the other underprivileged. One day, the underprivileged brother decided to sell the little he had to fund a trip to his wealthy brother, certain that his brother would generously assist him. After the long, grueling journey, the impoverished man came to his brother's home and knocked on the door. "Who are you?" the brother asked. "What do you mean? I'm your brother." "Sorry, I have nothing for you. Good luck." He slammed the door. Sometime later, the wealthy brother went to visit his aging father, whom he had not seen in quite a while. When he arrived, he knocked on the door. The father opened the door and asked, "Who are you?" "Who am I?! I'm your son!" "If you don't recognize your brother as your brother," the father said, "then why should I consider you my son? If you're not his brother, then you're not my son." If we want a loving relationship with our father, then we need to treat our brothers like our brothers. When we pray, we come to G-d as a child coming before his loving father, asking for what we need. In order to do this, we must first affirm our commitment to fulfill the command of "Ve'ahabta Le're'acha Kamocha," to regard all our fellow Jews as our brothers – for only then can we come before G-d and say that we are His children. This is why it is important to give charity before prayer, too. By giving charity, we are showing that we care about our fellow Jews like our brothers. And once we have made it clear that they are all our brothers, we can then stand before Hashem and ask Him to care for us like a loving father.

The answer is that in order for the construction of the Beis Hamikdash to succeed and endure according to Hashem's will – for “the Divine Presence to rest on your handiwork” – we need the Torah study of schoolchildren. Thus, not only does the children's Torah learning not delay the construction of the Beis Hamikdash, chas v'shalom, but to the contrary, it removes the obstacles to its construction and brings it about with even greater success. As the Midrash relates, when there were those who “firmly closed the synagogues and houses of study,” the prophet Yeshayahu declared that he was not deterred, because “Behold, I and the children whom Hashem has given…” – the children remove those who try to prevent Jewish children from studying Torah with fear of Heaven. In their merit and that of tzaddikim of the world, we will soon merit the fulfillment of the promise, “In the future the synagogues and houses of study of Bavel will be established in Eretz Yisrael” with the coming of Moshiach Tzidkeinu.2 excerpts from sichah of Monday, Parashas Re'eh, 20 Menachem-Av 5739 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=23-02-2025

DateFebruary 16, 2025SynopsisIn this sermon, we launch the series "Holding It Together: Good News for an Anxious Time" by exploring what it means to be honest about our anxiety in an increasingly overwhelming world. Pastor Brent challenges the "this is fine" mentality and examines how our instinct to avoid discomfort—through scrolling, busyness, or distraction—only allows anxiety to deepen its roots. Instead, he invites us to embrace the radical act of naming our struggles before God—not as a sign of weak faith, but as a profound expression of trust. Drawing from both modern psychology and ancient wisdom, we discover that we don't have to hold everything together because we're already being held.ReferencesScripture: Psalm 55:1–8About The Local ChurchFor more information about The Local Church, visit our website. Rebbe Nachman explains that our only right to the Land of Israel is when we connect to its holiness. Yet, how can it be holy if the Divine Presence is in exile? By virtue of our holy matriarchs and patriarchs – and in their merit – the Divine Presence is with us. So, without a connection to our forefathers, the land is contested, and the evil gain the upper hand.

I have reflected and considered with some satisfaction that this hath been my way and the temper of my mind among you. Great reason I have to repent, that I have not with greater earnestness pressed upon you the known and important things wherein serious Christians do generally agree: but I repent not I have been so little engaged in the hot contests of our age about the things wherein they differ. For, as I pretend to little light in these things (whence I could not have much confidence to fortify me unto such an undertaking); so I must profess to have little inclination to contend about matters of that kind.
Unlike Micah, who responded politely when asked what God required of those who would follow, John the Baptist didn't mince words or waste time worrying about people's feelings. He simply laid it on the line ... for everyone. Repent and change your ways. Quit putting yourself first. Take what's yours, only what's yours, and be happy. As we come close to Christmas and the arrival of the Christchild, join hosts Karin Peter and Blake Smith for a closer look at John's instructions for being ready to be drawn toward the Divine Presence. In this episode, we delve into the profound theme of divine presence in the Old Testament. Drawing from his extensive teaching and research, Matt explores how God's presence is depicted in Scripture—from the Garden of Eden to the Tabernacle and Temple, and into the prophetic visions of restoration. We discuss how these ancient texts challenge and shape our understanding of God's nearness and transcendence. Whether you're wrestling with questions of faith, longing to experience God's presence, or seeking fresh insights into the Old Testament, this conversation is full of wisdom and hope. Thanks for listening!Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Youtube. To learn more about our summer programs visit:https://www.regent-college.edu/summerSubscribe to our newsletter to hear all about Regent College:https://www.regent-college.edu/about-us/subscribe

TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen. Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen. And now Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. And where there is sadness, Joy. Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life. Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ. Amen.
