Hi friends, welcome to the trailer for the Oh Happy Day Podcast! Before our first interview launches next week, I just wanted to do a brief intro episode to answer a few questions – the biggest one being, “What made you want to start a podcast?” For those of us that work in the wedding industry, many of us are great at taking care of our clients but not so great at taking care of ourselves. We give our couples 110% over and over and over again, and at the end of the wedding season we are burned out, tired, and wondering, “Do I actually want to book that wedding 2 ½ years from now?” After surviving the dumpster fire that was the 2020 wedding season, I was tired. So I went looking for encouragement specifically for wedding vendors. I found resource after resource telling me how to book higher end weddings, how to be more productive, how to speed up my editing, how to sell albums. All those things are wonderful and needed, but I needed help for my soul, not just my business. So, I turned to my faith. How does my belief in God give greater purpose to what I do on a wedding day? How can my faith fill me up so I can pour myself out in service to my clients? Does God care about my art and creativity? In searching, I found a treasure trove of encouragement in scripture, books, and even weddings themselves. I have and will continue to photograph weddings of all different religious backgrounds – some with no religious affiliation at all. Yet at every single one, I have seen beauty, love, and traditions that have deepened my faith and pointed to the existence of a loving God. This search for meaning and motivation led to conversations with other wedding friends. And I wondered….what if everyone could hear these conversations on purpose and creativity? What if talking about our faith and work could encourage other wedding vendors too? Conversations that help us remember the “why” behind our sacrificed weekends and hard work. So that brings us here- to the Oh Happy Day Podcast. While I'm not quitting my day job anytime soon – yes, I'm still shooting weddings – I am so excited for you to join me as I chat with my wedding friends about faith, work, and their personal stories. We will have two episodes a month, so be sure to subscribe to our email list at www.ohhappydaypodcast.com to be the first to know when they are live! Fellow vendors, I hope that the Oh Happy Day podcast can be a voice in your ear letting you know you aren't alone. Thanks for listening! I'd love to hear from you!Instagram: @ohhappydaypodcastFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/ohdpodcastWebsite: www.ohhappydaypodcast.com
