Will Westmoreland, a Missouri agroforestry grower, discusses focusing on expanding Chinese chestnuts and developing gluten-free chestnut flour, after past work with elderberries and a family cow-calf operation. He explains chestnut production timelines (fruit in 3–5 years, heavy yields in 8–10) and uses in silvopasture, and describes building retail products through his large Back 40 following. Westmoreland founded The Back 40 as rural advocacy to counter stereotypes about rural voters and address rural decline driven by out-migration, weak local economies, and policy neglect. He outlines Back 40's priorities: rural-framed local policy, health access awareness, voter empowerment, and economic resilience, emphasizing major rural healthcare shortfalls, education engagement, broadband/infrastructure investment, and constructive persuasion over culture-war issues. He argues immigration can revive small towns and shares where to find him and Back 40 online. We're glad you're joining us for another episode of Barnyard Language. In this episode, we sit down with Ian Westmoreland, a former IT project manager who walked away from a high-paying corporate career to find his true "why" at age 59 and a half. Ian shares the remarkable "synchronicity" of reading a book on a train that changed the course of his life to the day, leading him to found Mentoring Men, a national movement providing free one-to-one life mentoring for Australian men. We dive deep into his journey from the corporate world to community impact, his battle with stage four cancer, and the birth of Kintsugi Heroes—a storytelling platform dedicated to those who have overcome adversity. Key Moments • The turning point: Why Ian left a 40-year IT career to focus on community impact. • Life Mentoring vs. Business Mentoring: Why listening is more powerful than advice. • The founding of Mentoring Men and the mission to support men through life's challenges. • The 59.5-year-old epiphany: A literal life-changing moment on a Sydney train. • Resilience in the face of Stage 4 Cancer and the power of gratitude during recovery. • Moving past judgment: Understanding the underlying causes of addiction and homelessness. • Redefining success: Why a blue-collar worker with love is more successful than a billionaire. • The birth of Kintsugi Heroes and the power of sharing stories of adversity. Notable Quotes: • "Life mentoring is predominantly listening—90% listening, supporting, and encouraging." • "The two most important days in your life are the day you're born and the day you work out why." — Mark Twain (cited by Ian) • "I'd rather have a purpose than a Porsche." — Rugby League Legend (cited by Ian) Guest Bio: Ian Westmoreland spent over four decades in the telecommunications and energy sectors before transitioning to full-time community service. He is the founder of Mentoring Men and Kintsugi Heroes, and was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in 2024 for his dedication to supporting men's mental health and wellbeing. 3. Westmoreland's three-phase plan focused on building massive infrastructure and then launching "crushing operations" to force North Vietnamese negotiations. However, the "search and destroy" metric of success—body counts—failed because 90% of operations made no enemy contact. The NVA often disappeared into trackless jungles to live to fight another day. Meanwhile, President Johnson respected Cambodian and Laotian neutrality despite NVA exploitation. He feared that widening the war into these vast sanctuaries would require massive troop increases the U.S. could not sustain, choosing instead to focus combat within South Vietnamese borders. (3)

In this episode, Dr. Andre sits down with Thomas Huber , a man dedicated to transforming the Jamaican landscape into a self-sustaining "fruit forest". Following the devastation of Hurricane Melissa, Thomas and Dr. Andre discuss the vital importance of food security, the resilience of indigenous and exotic plants, and why nature often provides exactly what we need—right under our feet. From the "Tree Cucumber" to the medicinal properties of local leaves, this conversation is a masterclass in shifting our mindset from scarcity to prosperity through the power of biodiversity.Key Takeaways• The Power of 11 Acres: Thomas manages 11 acres of land in Rastafari Herbal Gardens, Westmoreland, to grow a vast collection of exotic fruit trees.• Resilience Post-Melissa: While the hurricane took down many agricultural crops, nature continued to provide through resilient trees and underground food sources.• Biodiversity Loss: Thomas shares a sobering observation from Switzerland, where a thousand species of apples were lost in the last 50 years due to "progress" and machine-friendly farming.• Emergency Food vs. Real Food: Dr. Andre discusses the shift where shelf-stable "emergency food" has become a daily staple, leading people to ignore the fresh food readily available in their environment.• The "Micro-Government": A reflection on how Jamaican communities naturally cooperate during crises, with young people often stepping up to handle essential needs before formal government intervention.Featured Plants & Herbs• Bilimbi (Bibi): Also known as the "Tree Cucumber," this versatile fruit is used for seasoning, stews, salads, and wine.• Suriname Cherry: A hardy fruit tree that survived the storm and blossomed almost immediately afterward.• Thai Longevity Plant: A neutral plant that catches easily from cuttings and can be eaten in salads or used like spinach.• Miracle Fruit: A unique plant currently being nurtured in containers before moving to the garden.• Ram goat Dashalong: Used in Nigeria like "loo," this plant has a pleasant fragrance that some compare to gancho.• Medicinal Leaves: Discussion on how almost every fruit tree leaf in Jamaica, such as soursop or mango, can be used for teas or tinctures.

Micko Westmoreland in conversation with David Eastaugh https://landlinerecords.com https://www.facebook.com/MickoMellotronic/ The Mellotronics formed in 2017 with the intention of turning Micko Westmoreland's songwriting skills into a dynamic live prospect. Expanding from their initial three piece to the current four strong line up, the band sees Micko's rabble rousing vocals and spiky, agitational guitar work augmented perfectly by the crack squad of drummer Nick Mackay of hotly tipped rock duo Barricades, Owls of Now's Vicky Carroll providing immovable bassline solidity and the intricate, effects-soaked fretwork of Jon Klein (Siouxsie & The Banshees, Specimen). Since then they've been busy cutting their teeth with a series of shows around the capital and beyond, making return visits to the 100 Club in Oxford Street and earning multiple requests for support slots from acts as established as Evan Dando (Lemonheads), David Devant & His Spirit Wife, Blue Orchids, Sheep on Drugs, The Television Personalities and The Monochrome Set. Bringing a new dimension of sharp and economic post-punk/new wave attitude to the diverse Westmoreland songbook, they've been already been favourably compared to The Jam, Pil and Wire as well as the mean, lean but undeniably powerful sound of young bucks like Idles or Shame.

Henry III of England and Alexander II of Scotland met in York to settle the whole "where does England end, and where does Scotland begin?" question on 25th September, 1237. The consequent ‘Treaty of York' (mostly) settled the map of the borders right up to the present day. Alexander agreed to give up claims on northern English counties like Northumberland, Cumberland, and Westmoreland in return for a small chunk of land and the right to hand over one falcon a year as a symbolic payment. Yes, a falcon. Medieval politics loved a bit of flair. In this episode, Arion, Rebecca and Olly consider how future English kings could spin Scotland's resultant ‘fealty' as an admission that England was the natural powerhouse; discover the lawlessness of the borderlands for the centuries afterwards; and reveal just how many times Berwick-upon-Tweed has caused a cartographical headache… Further Reading: • ‘A History of Scotland, Series 1, Hammers of the Scots, The Treaty of York, 1237' (BBC, 2013): https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0198xmq • ‘Magna Carta, Scotland and Scots Law' (University of Edinburgh, 2025): https://www.pure.ed.ac.uk/ws/portalfiles/portal/31216033/Magna_Carta_Scotland_and_Scots_Law_LQR_version.pdf • ‘The world's oldest border?' Interview with Marc Henderson – President, CEO & Director, Laramide ResourcesOur previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/laramide-resources-tsxlam-1m-lbyr-new-mexico-uranium-project-awaits-final-permit-6714Recording date: 4th September, 2025The uranium sector is experiencing a fundamental shift driven by artificial intelligence and data center expansion, creating what industry veterans describe as the most compelling supply-demand dynamic in decades. Laramide Resources, with advanced-stage uranium projects across three continents, stands positioned to capitalize on this transformation.CEO Marc Henderson, speaking from the World Nuclear Association symposium, highlights how technology companies are driving unprecedented electricity demand. "The world's figured out we need a lot more electricity all of a sudden, particularly in the west that hasn't had any real growth in electricity demand in a long time, and nuclear becomes sort of the default obvious solution," Henderson explains. Tech giants prefer to be "backers" rather than operators, seeking partnerships with established uranium companies rather than entering the complex supply chain themselves. While demand surges, supply constraints intensify. Henderson notes that when asking utilities about realistic pricing for new uranium supply development, "no one has a number south of 100" dollars per pound. The industry faces critical shortages with limited new discoveries and production delays across existing operations.Laramide's strategic portfolio spans three jurisdictions. In Australia, the Westmoreland project containing 65 million pounds awaits a single political decision from Queensland's government, which Henderson describes as being "literally one comment away" from approval. The U.S. Churchrock project holds 70 million pounds with federal NRC licensing complete, requiring only one New Mexico state permit for its 3-million-pound annual capacity facility. Kazakhstan offers exploration upside through a large land position targeting 30-50 million pound deposits, with 15,000 meters of drilling planned for the fourth quarter. The convergence of structural supply deficits, tech-driven demand growth, and $100+ uranium pricing creates compelling revaluation potential for quality uranium assets positioned for the nuclear renaissance.Learn more: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/laramide-resourcesSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com
Jamaica Story is a documentary made to inspire Jamaicans worldwide to invest their time as well as their money to help create a brighter and stronger Jamaica! https://instagram.com/jamaicastory/ Director Statement I was born in NY to Jamaican parents, but spent a pivotal time in Little London, Westmoreland, Jamaica. This time created a love and affinity for Jamaica I barley understand sometimes. In 2018 I had the crazy idea to film a feature length documentary about Jamaica talking to any and everyone who said yes. I reached out to anyone I could through many mediums. I spent my own money going back and forth between Jamaica and the US. People told me I was crazy, but here I am today still following my dream of creating a documentary to help change a country and a people. Send us a textHave you ever wondered exactly how much lavage solution is needed to effectively decontaminate a surgical wound? This question, so common in veterinary operating rooms, finally has an evidence-based answer.Dr. Vanna Dickerson and veterinary student Cody Westmoreland from Texas A&M University join us to discuss their groundbreaking research on subcutaneous tissue lavage. Their study, published in the American Journal of Veterinary Research, reveals that using just 2.5 milliliters of sterile saline per centimeter of incision length can significantly reduce bacterial counts below infection-causing thresholds. This finding challenges previous assumptions and provides surgeons with a practical reference point for clinical decision-making.The conversation explores the persistent challenge of surgical site infections, which affect 7-10% of patients following GI surgery despite our best preventive efforts. Dr. Dickerson shares her surprise at discovering that relatively modest lavage volumes produced significant bacterial reduction in their silicone model, though she suggests using approximately 10 mL per centimeter in clinical practice to account for the complexities of living tissue. Westmoreland, who brought his experience in surgical infection prevention to this veterinary student research project, discusses plans for future clinical validation studies and potential applications of artificial intelligence in wound management.Beyond the science, we delve into the researchers' backgrounds, including Westmoreland's journey from operating room technician to veterinary student and Dr. Dickerson's collection of office dinosaurs that "make it impossible to have a bad day." Their work exemplifies how relatively simple interventions can significantly impact patient outcomes and client financial burden in veterinary practice.Listen now to discover how this easy, inexpensive technique might improve your surgical outcomes, and don't forget to leave us a rating and review on your favorite podcast platform!Open access article: https://doi.org/10.2460/ajvr.25.01.0030INTERESTED IN SUBMITTING YOUR MANUSCRIPT TO JAVMA ® OR AJVR ® ? MAKING A DESERT: DIOXIN ORDERED FOR CHU LAI BY WESTMORELAND OF MACV AND MATHESON OF THE 101ST AIRBORNE, 1967: 4/8: The Long Reckoning: A Story of War, Peace, and Redemption in Vietnam –by George Black (Author) 1967 3RD MARINES https://www.amazon.com/Long-Reckoning-Story-Redemption-Vietnam/dp/0593534107 The American war in Vietnam has left many long-lasting scars that have not yet been sufficiently examined. The worst of them were inflicted in a tiny area bounded by the demilitarized zone between North and South Vietnam and the Ho Chi Minh Trail in neighboring Laos. That small region saw the most intense aerial bombing campaign in history, the massive use of toxic chemicals, and the heaviest casualties on both sides. In The Long Reckoning, George Black recounts the inspirational story of the small cast of characters—veterans, scientists, and Quaker-inspired pacifists, and their Vietnamese partners—who used their moral authority, scientific and political ingenuity, and sheer persistence to attempt to heal the horrors that were left in the wake of the military engagement in Southeast Asia. Their intersecting story is one of reconciliation and personal redemption, embedded in a vivid portrait of Vietnam today, with all its startling collisions between past and present, in which one-time mortal enemies, in the endless shape-shifting of geopolitics, have been transformed into close allies and partners.

It's Tuesday, July 1, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson and Adam McManus Chinese Communists give pastors 3 years in jail for leading church Three pastors from Linfen Covenant Home Church in Shanxi, China have been sentenced to 2-4 years of prison time for various charges related to their leading an unregistered church in the communist country. The church issued a statement, announcing that “We honor the service of Li Jie, Han Xiaodong, and Wang Qiang who suffered for righteousness, and we are willing to bear the cross with the Lord. We receive this verdict with a grateful and obedient heart.” Jesus offers this encouragement in Revelation 2:10 -- “Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.” Brazilian homeschool mother facing $20,000 of fines Today, a Brazilian court will hear a case of a mom prosecuted for homeschooling her son. Regiane Cichelero is facing fines of $20,000 and threats of losing custody of her child, for choosing home education on religious grounds. Alliance Defending Freedom International has taken up the case. Her legal counsel, Julio Pohl, pointed out that “No parent should fear state punishment for choosing to homeschool their child. Regiane made a lawful and conscientious decision to teach her son at home. We are hopeful that the court will affirm her rights and take an important step toward protecting parental rights in Brazil.” Regiane continues to homeschool despite the risks involved. Pray for this case, which may serve as a precedent for the other 70,000 homeschooled children in Brazil. Victory of Christian Colorado camp over transgender agenda Also, Alliance Defending Freedom has announced a favorable settlement for the Idrahaje Christian Camp in Bailey, Colorado. The camp was under threat of losing its license for refusing to submit to state requirements regarding the transgendering of bathrooms and living quarters. The name of the camp is taken from the phrase “I'd rather have Jesus more than anything!” They use the first two letters of the first four words. The State of Colorado agreed not to take any enforcement action against Camp IdRaHaJe for violation of the gender identity requirements. The state has also clarified in a memo on its website that “churches, synagogues, mosques, or any other place that is principally used for religious purposes” are exempt from the transgendering requirements. Syria's own government helped massacre 1,500 Alawites Reuters has reported on its investigation of the Syrian massacre of 1,500 Alawites in March of this year. The perpetrators included units belonging to the new government based in Damascus. Ahmed Hussein al-Sharaa of the Free Syrian Army and Al-Qaeda took over Syria in January of this year. The new government has also instituted a constitution stating that “The religion of the President of the Republic is Islam. … Islamic jurisprudence is the principal source of legislation.” This constitutes a step up in Islamic rule over Syria. According to Open Doors, Syria is the 18th most dangerous country worldwide for Christians. Iraq allows Muslim men to “marry” 9-year-old girls The new Iraqi government is also following Islamic Sharia law closely. Earlier this year, Iraq's parliament voted to give Islamic courts more control in family law, and permit child marriages for girls as young as nine years of age. Supreme Court allows parents to opt kids out & requires porn sites to verify age Here in America, the U.S. Supreme Court is allowing parents opt-out rights for their elementary-aged children from having to participate in homosexual-themed lessons. That comes by a vote of 6 to 3. Writing for the majority, Justice Samuel Alito emphasized that “What the parents seek here is not the right to micromanage the public school curriculum, but rather to have their children opt out of a particular educational requirement that burdens their well-established right ‘to direct ‘the religious upbringing' of their children'” under the free exercise clause of the First Amendment. Another 6-3 ruling, the High Court has also upheld a Texas Law requiring pornographic websites to verify users are over 18 years of age. Only adults will be allowed into these sinful activities. Writing for the majority, Justice Clarence Thomas concluded, ”The power to require age verification is within a State's authority to prevent children from accessing sexually explicit content.” But, in Matthew 5:27-28, Jesus said, “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.' But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” U.S. government buying its own bonds The U.S. government is buying back its own bonds. Barchart reports the largest buyback in history occurred earlier this month. Under the direction of Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, the department bought $10 billion of its own bonds. Federal Reserve on the ropes The Federal Reserve issued $150 billion of bonds in May, but only managed to sell half of them. Also, the Fed has recorded its first two-year-in-a-row financial loss, totaling $192 billion in 2023 and 2024. This is the first time this has occurred in the Fed's 110-year history. Year to date, the federal deficit stands at $1.37 billion as of the end of May. That's 14% higher than last year at this time. Dad jumps into ocean off Disney Cruise ship to save daughter Here's a story demonstrating a remarkable act of courage and love on the part of a dad. A young child fell off the fourth deck of a Disney cruiseliner on Sunday. Her father took immediate action, dove in after her. . . and held her while treading water, until a rescue boat pulled them out of the ocean waters. An eyewitness explained what happened to WPLG News. EYEWITNESS: “They were playing shuffleboard that was on the fourth floor. The parents were playing, and then the little girl was climbing up on the railing and flew off.” One passenger said, “The ship was moving quickly, so quickly, it's crazy how quickly the people became tiny dots in the sea, and then you lost sight of them.” Another passenger said, “I saw the mother crying and but when they rescued them, I think that's when the tears really started flowing. I prayed to God to save them, and He did!” The Disney Dream was heading back from the Bahamas to Fort Lauderdale when the incident occurred. Worldview teens share their hearts 15-year-old Titus Beran in Omaha, Nebraska wrote me at Adam@TheWorldview.com. He said, “I love the verses included in the newscast! They really help me focus back on God's Word and bring every area of life, even politics and news, into captivity to the obedience of Christ.” And 16-year-old Leah Smith in Franklin, Kentucky wrote, “I have been subscribed to The Worldview in 5 Minutes for a little over a year. I don't watch the news on a regular basis, but have been continually blessed by the ministry of this website. It is so irregular to have such a concise, non-secular newscast that makes me aware of political news, needs of persecuted Christians, and even basic information that keeps me up to date on what is going on. “When I read your newscast transcript, I am not only encouraged by stories of fellow believers, but I am also moved to pray for the issues in our world. God is truly using your Christian newscast to reach people with the truth. It has been a blessing in my life!” What Troy's three boys enjoy about The Worldview Troy in Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas talked to his three sons -- Sovereign, age 12, Shalom, age 10, and Apollos, age 7 -- about The Worldview. Don't worry! David Waldman and Greg Dworkin will be back next week! But what do you care? You'll have brand-new KITMs, five of them, to listen to until their return! But first: Correspondent Terry Moran posted that Trump was a world-class hater without first taking into consideration what world-class haters do, and what his world-class coward employers would do about it. Stephen Miller is working to make America great for Nick Fuentes. He's Goebbels without a master race, Nosferatu without the sentimentality. People don't like that. Ok, lots of people do like to see people get their skulls cracked on TV, but “them” are beginning to look a little too much like “they” lately for their comfort. Trump's “Butthurt Mussolini” persona is becoming less fun and too real. Tin soldiers are coming, and we don't even have Nixon's sense of morality, or Westmoreland's propriety this time. We're finally on our own… This summer you'll hear the drumming... Except at the New York Times, where they beautifully habituate. Pope Leo will be presenting the opposing viewpoint to Trump at Rate Field in Chicago on June 14. She-Wolf of the DOJ, Pam Bondi's big brother Brad Bondi works to rationalize his 82-point election loss. Trump has discovered the Lost Cause and promised to return it to military bases in the South. It might be a slow boring topic, but the threat is real from right-NIMBYs opposing the Abundance Agenda. Then there's Oklahoma's HD 71 special election, where the debate centers around professional experience.
Irma Westmoreland, Secretary-Treasurer of National Nurses United, joined the America's Work Force Union Podcast to discuss the proposed cuts to VA staff, the need for full collective bargaining rights and the importance of maintaining quality care for veterans. Tim Burga, President of the Ohio AFL-CIO, joined the America's Work Force Union Podcast to discuss their recent legislative conference in Columbus, Ohio. Burga highlighted three key issues: the fair school funding formula, unemployment compensation trust fund solvency and the ongoing threat of So-Called “Right-To-Work” legislation.
