Since this episode lands on Father's Day, Jay decides to do something thematic for a change and assigns Mike one of the most acclaimed and divisive films of the 21st century: Terrence Malick's The Tree of Life. Is the film a profound meditation on fathers and sons, memory, grief, faith, and the very nature of existence? Or is it an overlong exercise in whispered narration, floating cameras, and cosmic self-importance? The guys tackle that question head-on and, perhaps unsurprisingly given the film's subject matter, find themselves wandering into some unexpectedly personal territory along the way. After the review, the guys count down their Bottom Five Creations, a collection of inventions, monsters, products, and catastrophically misguided acts of ingenuity that probably should have remained on the drawing board. Then it's time once again for Dueling Double Bills, where Mike and Jay attempt to pair randomly selected films into seat-filling double features and, as usual, discover that agreement is far less likely than argument. Finally, in a move that may qualify as self-harm under certain legal definitions, Mike and Jay announce an upcoming trip to the movie theater, where they'll willingly exchange approximately two mortgage payments for tickets, popcorn, and whatever fresh cinematic Hell awaits them on the big screen.

I'm your host, Nikky, and tonight we're celebrating creativity in all the right places — from homemade toys to hidden temptations and boundary-pushing thrills. Here are the steamy stories you'll hear in this episode:• A relaxing night sorting Lego bricks turns into pure filth when one creative listener assembles a thick, cylindrical homemade Lego dildo, slips a condom on it, and rides it to squirting, leg-shaking orgasms — twice. From innocent hobby to secret fucktoy… this Brick Slut knows how to get creative.• A happily married dadbod volunteer helping a flirty college freshman with her coding project. Yoga pants, no bra, lingering hugs, and a rock-hard temptation that nearly breaks his willpower. He walks away… but the fantasies that follow are absolutely filthy.• Law school, a shy nerdy virgin friend, and the moment she discovers he's packing a genuinely monstrous cock — the biggest she's ever seen. Awkward flirting turns into shocked exploration, confidence boosting, and one of the funniest ‘don't judge a book' stories you'll hear.• An unexpected locker room moment between two longtime friends leads to surprising bi-curiosity, body comparisons, and lingering tension that changes how they see each other.• A detailed and intense CNC stalking fantasy that builds from patient pursuit to rough, choking, slapping, and deeply satisfying roadside release in a truck.Stick around. Mike and Trey Farley host the Luxury Outdoor Living Podcast and interview Rhonda Sheeran of Fiber Creations about Pool Stars, a patented fiber-optic “stars in the pool floor” product with a 3D twinkling effect that appears on the pool bottom and reflects off the water surface. Rhonda describes her background in pool tile, renovation, plastering, and early fiber-optic lighting, and explains how Pool Stars use high-quality Mitsubishi fibers bundled from an LED RGBW/DMX-capable illuminator (no electricity in the water) through minimal piping, then distributed as single/double/triple fibers for varied brightness. She details installation steps, plaster/tile considerations, remodel approaches, distance limits (~90 feet), dimming and app/DMX control, use cases (sun shelves, decks, walls, star ceilings, countertops), quality cautions, and typical costs varying by star count and labor. We walk through the logic behind mixing small cap value, gold, long-duration Treasuries, managed futures, and a small dose of leveraged ETFs, plus the real constraint that changes everything for many investors: you can only buy what your country and accounts actually offer. I share how I think about backtesting when tools don't support Canadian ETFs, why proxies can be useful, and why great historical results still don't remove behavior risk. Then we shift to a common real-life retirement planning scenario: someone in their mid-70s sells a home, moves into a retirement community, and only needs about 2% per year from investments. Instead of forcing a complicated portfolio to do the job, I explain why a single premium immediate annuity can be the cleanest solution for a very risk-averse retiree, potentially covering that gap with a relatively small slice of the nest egg and letting the rest stay invested simply and calmly. We also talk about separating mandatory expenses from discretionary spending so the plan feels safe and sustainable. We close with a fast answer on asset location for a saver juggling multiple account types and debating small cap value placement. The punchline: make sure you're actually buying small cap value, and don't over-optimize what usually doesn't matter much. Plus, a quick look at using Google NotebookLM to summarize long podcasts and documents in a way that stays grounded in the inputs you provide. Dangerous Creations: The Inventor Novel in Fin-de-siècle France (U Toronto Press, 2025) presents a master narrative of the inventor in fin-de-siècle French literature by analyzing the works of Jules Verne, Albert Robida, Émile Zola, and Villiers de l'Isle-Adam. Their writings challenge the role of science in shaping French national identity and aim to transform contemporary understandings of science and technology. The book reveals how Verne, Robida, Zola, and de l'Isle-Adam reimagine the figure of the inventor, reshaping the literary standards of their time. Universally male in these narratives, the inventor serves as a flawed exemplar of national heroism during the Age of Empire – a period marked by significant external threats and internal strife – while also embodying unrestrained creativity. Ultimately, the inventor novel reflects broader French anxieties surrounding scientific progress, empire, and gender. Ana Oancea explores the transmedia and transnational legacy of the fin-de-siècle inventor novel through vignettes that highlight similarly themed narratives in contemporary popular culture. These sections engage with films, television series, graphic narratives, and video games that reinterpret key aspects of the inventor narrative, shedding light on its power structures, racial and gender politics, and colonial aspirations. Guest Ana Oancea is Associate Professor of French at the University of Delaware. Her research interests include the intersections of science and literature, adaptation studies, and visual culture. She has recently published articles in Forum for Modern Language Studies, Science Fiction Film and Television, and French Screen Studies. Host Gina Stamm is Associate Professor of French at The University of Alabama, with research concentrated on the environmental humanities and speculative literatures of the 20th and 21st centuries, from Surrealism to contemporary science fiction and feminist utopias, in Metropolitan France and the francophone Caribbean, with a book manuscript in progresson posthumanist ecological engagement in the surrealist movement. Catchphrases are things that can be used to make characters more recognisable and instantly familiar. It can really help them connect with audiences! But when used badly it can make them cloying, irritating or even hateful. This quackcast was inspired by Banes' use of a catch phrase on his latest page of Continuity Falls: "Ah'll be Gosh-Durned!". We also chat a bit about how content creators in general often come up with catchphrases in order to better connect with audiences and how silly that can be. Coming up with catch phrases like content creation is not usually easy, you have to craft and spit out a lot of it before something sticks and you can never really tell what they will be until it's happened… so the conversation also shifts to the constant treadmill of content creation that has become its own niche in the economy and how that can become a drag on a lot of people and lead them to doing dark deals… For example the once excellent Veritasium channel on Youtube, who's creator went from doing extensive research on interesting and unusual scientific questions, who then after he sold his channel to a production company it degraded to slickly produced illustrations of other people's articles, usually very poorly researched ones that have a lot of popularity. We'll chat more about that next week and how it can drive people to using AI and further degrade their content. But for now: catchphrases! What are your faves and have you ever come up with some for your characters or even yourself? For me a couple of my faves are "UNACCEPTABLE!" from Lemongrab on Adventure Time, and "Bah-leted" from Stongband on Homestar Runner and Friends. The closest I've come in my comics is "Hehe, DIE" by Cc in my comic Pinky TA, that seemed to strike a note with people. The best off Gunwallace track this week was Typical Strange - Great pop! What if the Bible doesn't begin where we've been told it does?In this episode, Joel Thomas dives deep into one of the most controversial and overlooked ideas in Scripture—the possibility that something existed before Adam. Not just spiritually… but physically. A world. A civilization. Maybe even entire races of beings lost to time.We break down the original Hebrew of Genesis 1:1–2, exploring the true meaning of Tohu Va-Bohu and whether the earth was created in chaos—or restored from something that came before. Because if God didn't create the earth “in vain,” then what happened? From ancient technological civilizations hinted at in Ecclesiastes, to the idea of Day 6 people, to the mystery of Cain's origin, we start connecting dots that most people never question. And then it gets deeper…Fallen angels, pre-Adamic nations, Lucifer's rebellion, destroyed cities before Adam, and the possibility that what we call “creation” may actually be a reset. This isn't about blind belief. This is about reading the text for yourself—and asking the questions most people are afraid to ask.Merchandise: https://freetherabbits.myshopify.comBuy Me A Coffee: DonateFollow: Website | Instagram | X | FacebookWatch: YouTube | RumbleMusic: YouTube | Spotify | Apple Music Films: https://merkelfilms.com Email: freetherabbitspodcast@gmail.comDistributed by: merkel.mediaIntro Music:Joel Thomas – Free The RabbitsYouTube | Spotify | Apple MusicOutro Music:Joel Thomas – GreyYouTube | Spotify | Apple MusicTOPICS DISCUSSED:Pre-Adamite man, Genesis 1:1-2 breakdown, Tohu Va-Bohu meaning, original Hebrew Genesis, Old Earth theory, gap theory explained, ancient civilizations before Adam, Ecclesiastes nothing new under the sun, Day 6 people, Cain origin mystery, Nephilim before the flood, fallen angels and watchers, Lucifer before Adam, Isaiah 14 kingdoms, Ezekiel 28 trading nations, Jeremiah 4 destruction, pre-flood advanced technology, ancient cities destroyed, Noah and pure bloodline, multiple races in Genesis, biblical cosmology, hidden history of the earth
Dr. Emma Chapman joins Books, Kids & Creations to talk about her upcoming book The Echoing Universe (May 19, 2026) and her incredible journey from Egyptology to astrophysics. Emma shares how one physics book changed everything for her, leading her to realize that studying stars was another way of looking back in time—just like archaeology. We explore black holes, radio waves, light, and how radio astronomy helps us see the invisible universe. From communicating with Artemis near the moon to discovering volcanoes hidden beneath Venus's clouds, Emma explains science in a way that feels magical and easy to understand. She also shares the year-long adventure of writing this book—what started as a “2-week project” became a deep dive filled with travel, interviews, and discovery. Emma calls The Echoing Universe a love letter to radio astronomy, and her hope is that readers walk away feeling wonder, joy, and awe about the universe around us. We're digging into one of the most overlooked plants in our landscape, dandelion, specifically Taraxacum officinale. What most people see as a weed, we see as a powerhouse of flavor, nutrition, and medicine...and we're excited to share why.We walk you through how to properly identify dandelion (and avoid common lookalikes), when and how to harvest each part of the plant, and why timing makes all the difference. From there, we head into the kitchen, where we share simple, practical ways to use dandelion leaves, flowers, and roots—from fresh spring greens to infused vinegars and even homemade coffee alternatives. Then we step into the apothecary, where dandelion really shines. We talk about how we use it to support digestion, nourish the body, and create everything from mineral-rich tonics to soothing herbal oils.Along the way, we also reflect on the bigger picture—how a plant we've been taught to "despise" might actually be one of the most valuable allies growing right at our feet. So the next time you see a dandelion, don't reach for the shovel to remove it, reach for it with curiosity instead!Enjoy dandelion inspired products by Small House: https://seedsandweedspodcast.com/all-about-dandelions/Learn more about infusing oils to make herbal salves: https://youtu.be/Rdq-ccoiBdg?si=8WoggWT5-XB8rme_Harvest and eat dandelion greens with our recipe:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JYJYLGCW04Learn more about dandelion and other beneficial herbs with Bevin's book Herbs in Every Season: https://www.smallhousefarm.com/product/herbs-in-every-season/Explore our Plant of the Month series on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/c/smallhousefarm✨ Join our Patreon community for exclusive content, seasonal herb boxes, and more! www.patreon.com/smallhousefarmSupport for the Seeds and Weeds Podcast comes from Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Company. A very sweet story of success in Mindy Crosato - baker and owner of Decadent Creations and Collective Kitchen in Hillsboro, Oregon. She says at 20 years old, she found herself kicked out of school, fired from her job and basically homeless after breaking up with her boyfriend who she lived with at the time. She said one morning that year, she woke up and thought, 'I'm going to open a bakery.' She got herself through culinary school and started baking her way to success. Mindy says she'd wake up at midnight, bake all morning and then deliver the fresh baked goods to a farmers market to sell. After becoming a "Chopped" champion in 2015, she opened her now shop, Decadent Creations. A sweet interview on Mindy's story and her journey to baking up wildly popular treats, plus her new adventures in the culinary world.
