As we continue our short series on Dolly Parton, this week we are bringing attention to the charitable side of everyone's favorite Tennessean. In 1990 Dolly switched from superstardom to giving back, and give back she did. The Dollywood Foundation has done countless things to improve society but none compare to the Imagination Library. Like schools during a pandemic We Are Back! The dads took the summer off to learn how to adjust to home life, self reflect, and to educate ourselves on everything going on in life right now. But, all summer breaks must come to an end so we dusted off the mics and created all new episodes for our listenership. 2020 has been an interesting year.  The Tennessee Titans ALMOST make the Super Bowl (it was a BIG deal around town folks) then we all go into lockdown for months, now we're witnessing as a large chunk of the country becomes aware that no, racism never truly went away.   Throughout all of this we've been trying to push on and put out episodes that we think our listenership would like.  But now it's time to take to take a little step back to reflect on everything that's happened so far this year and study up on some future topics.  We're taking a little break, but we'll be back later this summer with new episodes on Nashville, parenting, or just something random that we think is relevant.  Thanks for listening and we'll talk at you again soon.

Every city has that one former resident that they just wish everyone would forget.  For Nashville that person was William Walker.  No, he wasn't a failed country artist, (that would be so much better) he WAS a monster and a racist who wanted to take over a country south of the border.  And he somehow managed to convince a bunch of the 1850's versions of frat boys to join him on his expedition.  He has some successes and failures and (spoiler alert) ends up on the wrong, or right, side of a Honduran firing squad.  So join us today for a history lesson about one of Nashville's more despicable natives.  Enjoy?

Straws, buffalo, a naked person playing tambourine.  We're talking about WILD bachelorette parties on this weeks episode.   Just kidding, although that does sound pretty awesome, we're actually talking about some of the public artwork around town and the stories behind them.  Did you know the sculpture on the river is called Ghost Ballet and it is made up of parts from roller coasters from the now defunct Opryland USA? (it's not) Did you know the "pick up sticks" at the 8th Ave roundabout are based off Native American something or other?  Tune in for some facts and myths surrounding some of our cities iconic artwork and maybe learn something.

This week the guys are diving into the darker, seedy side of Nashville's history.  No, we're not talking about the prostitute barge or the hot tub bus (you know you're gross), we're talking about crimes that put Nashville on edge.  There was the murder of a Girl Scout in the Green Hills area, there was the murder of a Chart Director on Music Row, and several fast food murders in the late 90's that shook everyone. 

On this weeks episode we're talking about scouting. In early May of 2010 the city of Nashville experienced a 100, 500, 1000 year flood when over 19 inches of rain fell on the city in less than 48 hours.  On this weeks episode we dive into some stats about the flood and how it changed the city. 

Back in January Bucky, Juicebox, and Oldboy were approached by a member of their listenership with an opportunity to not only go to the Kentucky Derby, but to sit in a box.  If you know anything about the Derby you know what a big deal this is.  In honor of that invite we recorded an episode about the history of the Kentucky Derby and some of interesting celebrities that had attended over the years.  Our intention was to record the 2nd half of the podcast after attending the Derby.... welp, so much for that idea.  Instead we decided to get together and talk about some of our favorite experiences from Derby's past with the help of 17 time Kentucky Derby attendee & Juicebox's better half, Dana.  Sure this episode is a little long, but you probably have a lawn to mow or some landscaping to take care of, so crush up some fresh mint, dump some bourbon on top of it, chug it, listen to this podcast, and pretend we're actually living in a different timeline.

On this weeks episode the guys are talking about the Christmas holiday.  We talk about the history of the holiday and how Santa Claus came to be the center of the tradition, but don't worry listeners, Juicebox does not go off about Santa being a dictator again.  We also talk about some of our own Christmas traditions, both from growing up, and the traditions we are starting with our own families. 

On this weeks episode the dads all make their families watch this years hottest Christmas movie, Noelle.  We do a quick breakdown and review of this new Christmas masterpiece (this statement is not endorsed by Oldboy) with MAJOR SPOILERS.  Then we talk about some of our all time favorite Christmas movies before  getting way too wrapped up in a discussion about whether or not Santa is a dictator. 

Pedal Taverns, a limo decked out to look like a boat, a tractor pulling a trailer, a bus with a hot tub.  Chances are, if you've been to downtown Nashville, or any other tourist trap, you've seen at least one of these slow moving vehicles, usually with drunk people hanging off yelling "Wooooo" at the top of their lungs.  This week we're discussing the "Transportainment" movement in Nashville.  We'll go through a list of all the Transportainment vehicles currently operating in our city, and come up with some of our own.  We also flew friend of the show, Shane LaRue, in from L.A. just to make him go downtown and experience a few of these slow moving, binge drinkeries and report back to us, because we sure as hell weren't going to do it.

A few weeks back, before we sat down to record our Hot Chicken episode, Bucky came rolling in, fired up about some "Haunted House" called McKamey Manor.  He proceeded to describe to Juicebox and Old Boy, in detail, the history of this "Haunt" and it's owner/proprietor Russ McKamey.   After 45 minutes of Bucky trying to convince us that he could make it through the Haunted House that no one has made it through Juicebox finally got fed up, yelling "Shut up about this stupid torture house!"  Fast forward three weeks and here we are talking about it on a podcast, much to Juicebox's displeasure.   We'll dive into some of the things that could happen to you if you decide to attempt the Manor (spoiler, it's torture), speculate on what the real point of all of this is and ponder what type of person would want to attempt this (Bucky).  Enjoy?

This week the guys are discussing bullying and what to do if your kid is being bullied, or IS the bully.  We talk about some of the warning signs to look for, and talk about some of our personal experiences with bullying and being bullied.  If you were expecting a Thanksgiving themed episode this week just, imagine the Pilgrims as bullies, which they kind of were.
