Send us a textEver wondered why not everyone who faces trauma ends up with PTSD? Join us as we unravel this complex disorder with insights from our esteemed guest, Linton. You'll gain a clear understanding of PTSD's diagnostic criteria as outlined in the DSM-5-TR, exploring the crucial differences between PTSD and acute stress disorder, particularly the significance of symptom duration. We shatter prevalent myths, such as the notion that PTSD solely affects veterans or inevitably results in violence, emphasizing that the disorder arises from a wide range of traumatic experiences and affects individuals uniquely.Linton also highlights the importance of diagnostic specifiers, which offer essential nuances that can shape effective treatment plans. We explore how factors like social support and resilience can prevent acute stress from evolving into PTSD. Furthermore, the episode delves into adjustment disorder, examining its development due to identifiable stressors. This episode promises a comprehensive exploration of PTSD and adjustment disorder, aiming to expand your understanding and dismantle common misconceptions. If you need to study for your national licensing exam, try the free samplers at: LicensureExamsThis podcast is not associated with the NBCC, AMFTRB, ASW, ANCC, NASP, NAADAC, CCMC, NCPG, CRCC, or any state or governmental agency responsible for licensure.

Treating dissociation with dreamwork. Today, meet psychotherapist Marilyn Manzi who treats women with acute stress disorder using what she calls dream psychotherapy. We start by defining acute stress disorder Then talk about the timeline by which trauma develops into PTSD and how dream psychotherapy can prevent and even reverse the long-term after effects of trauma. She describes her work which begins with co-regulation between therapist and client. She uses techniques such as rescripting of difficult dreams, looking for transcendent dream moments, and incubating solutions to waking life issues. We answer an email question from Rissa about individuation. After the break we get more personal, and Marilyn talks about her self-care routine as a psychotherapist. We then take a call from Jenny from Santa Cruz who shares a dream about women on a boat which we look at as an example of a dream about individuation, At the end of the show, Marilyn turns the tables and asks about my history of learning to be a dream coach and about the book I am currently writing around dreamwork as a kind of treasure hunt. Empowering Therapists Through Personal and Professional Growth In this enlightening episode of "Soul Care for Therapists," host Dawn Gabriel engages in a deep and meaningful conversation with Kelly Lynch, a seasoned therapist and coach who specializes in helping individuals navigate both their personal and professional lives with resilience and empowerment. Kelly brings a wealth of experience to the table, having not only walked the path of a therapist but also as a survivor of domestic violence and a former EMS personnel. Her unique journey has given her profound insights into the integration of faith and psychology, making her a guiding light for therapists striving to build sustainable businesses while honoring their own well-being. Discovering Resilience Amidst Personal Challenges Kelly opens up about her transformative experiences, shedding light on her own journey through a challenging divorce and her triumphant emergence from domestic violence. Despite these trials, she demonstrates how resilience and grit can be harnessed to propel oneself forward. Kelly shares, "We argued about basically everything, uh, but from beginning to end it was six months, which is really fast for a contentious divorce. So again, like I got really lucky with the pace that the divorce moved at, so then I could just move on with my life." Grit and Power: A Model for Growth Kelly introduces her powerful coaching model, Grit and Power, which acts as a roadmap for therapists seeking personal and professional alignment. The Grit model encompasses Growth, Resilience, Identity, and Training, all vital components of personal development. Kelly explains, "Growth is about how we practice resilience, how we create resilience...how we adapt to the world around us." She further delves into the significance of Identity and Integrity, emphasizing the importance of staying aligned with one's core values. The Power model complements Grit by offering a practical approach to addressing challenges, with the acronym representing Pause for Perspective, Observe and Organize, Work the Problem, Express the Impact, and Recover. Balancing Professional Growth and Personal Well-being Kelly's approach to growth doesn't solely apply to the professional realm; she extends her insights to encompass personal lives as well. She shares her own experiences of parenting a tween daughter and emphasizes the value of practicing self-care and boundary-setting. She says, "When we think about mental health skills, they're just the same. It's just putting it into a different context." Kelly underscores the importance of debriefing and self-care, drawing parallels between her EMS background and the necessity for therapists to discharge energy after emotionally charged sessions. Tips for Integration and Transformation For therapists and business owners seeking integration of their faith and psychology, Kelly's wisdom offers tangible takeaways.  Embrace the Grit and Power model to navigate challenges with resilience and intentionality.  Identify personal values and live them out with integrity.  Practice self-care as you balance professional demands and personal growth.  Kelly's upcoming book, which delves into the Grit and Power model, promises to be an invaluable resource for therapists and individuals seeking holistic alignment. In Summary: Aligning Growth, Resilience, and Faith Kelly Lynch's journey from therapist to coach is one of empowerment, growth, and alignment. Her Grit and Power model serves as a beacon of hope for therapists navigating their own personal and professional challenges. Through resilience, intentionality, and self-care, Kelly encourages therapists to foster growth, embrace their identities, and thrive in both their businesses and personal lives. As a survivor, coach, and mentor, Kelly's insights remind us that personal growth is a lifelong journey that can be both transformative and empowering.  About Kelly Kelly Lynch is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Life Coach, Personal Fitness Trainer, and Nutrition Coach. W., Townsend, R. R., Al-Hasani, R. Abstract: Enkephalins are opioid peptides that modulate analgesia, reward, and stress. In vivo detection of enkephalins remains difficult due to transient and low endogenous concentrations and inherent sequence similarity. We present an analytical method for Met- and Leu-Enkephalin detection in the mouse Nucleus Accumbens shell after acute stress. This approach increases spatiotemporal resolution, optimizes the detection of Met-Enkephalin through methionine oxidation, and provides insight into the relationship between Met- and Leu-Enkephalin following stress. Abstract: Stress alters social functioning in a complex manner. An important variable determining the final effects of stress is stressor intensity. However, the precise relationship between stressor intensity and social behavior is not well understood. Here we investigate the effects of varying acute stressor intensity exposure on social behavior using adult zebrafish. We first establish a novel test using adult zebrafish that allows distinguishing fish's drive to approach a social cue and its ability to engage and maintain social interaction within the same behavioral paradigm. Next, we combined this test with a new method to deliver an acute stress stimulus or varying intensities. Our results show that both social approach and social maintenance are reduced in adult zebrafish upon acute stress exposure in an intensity-dependent manner. Interestingly, lower stress intensity reduces social maintenance without affecting the social approach, while a higher stress level is required to alter social approach. These results provide evidence for a direct correlation between acute stressor intensity and social functioning and suggest that distinct steps in social behavior are modulate differentially by the acute stress level. Link to bioRxiv paper: http://biorxiv.org/cgi/content/short/2023.01.30.526171v1?rss=1 Authors: Barik, A., Shah, D., Sharma, P. R., Agarwal, R. Abstract: Stress is a powerful modulator of pain. Specifically, acute stress due to physical restraint facilitates stress-induced analgesia (SIA). However, where and how acute stress and pain pathways interface in the brain must be better understood. Here, we describe how the lateral septum (LS), a forebrain limbic nuclei, facilitates SIA through its downstream targets in the lateral hypothalamus (LH). We show that the LS[->]LH circuitry is sufficient to drive analgesia and is required for SIA. Further, we reveal that the LS[->]LH pathway is opioid-dependent and modulates pain through the pro-nociceptive neurons in the rostral ventromedial medulla (RVM). Remarkably, we found that the LS neurons are inhibitory, are recruited specifically when the mice struggle to escape under restraint, and, in turn, inhibit excitatory LH neurons. As a result, the RVM neurons downstream of LH are disengaged when the mice try to escape, thus suppressing nociception. Next, our data indicate that the efforts to escape are communicated by the lateral periaqueductal gray (lPAG) to the LS and activation of the upstream lPAG[->]LS circuit phenocopies LS[->]LH activation and results in analgesia. Thus, we have revealed a poly-synaptic pathway that can transform escape behavior in mice under restraint to acute stress and resultant analgesia. Copy rights belong to original authors. Abstract: Acute stress has a profound effect on attention selection, however, it remains unclear how acute stress affects target enhancement and distractor suppression in attention selection. The current study aimed to investigated the acute stress effect on target enhancement and distractor suppression in a visual search task by using ERP. The stress response was successfully induced as indexed by the activation of HPA and the subjective affect rating. Crucially, acute stress group showed significant smaller N2pc than the control group in the high-salience distractor condition, no significant differences of Pd was observed, which indicated that actue stress disrupts the target enhancement rather than the distractor suppression in attention selection. The detrimental effects might attribute to the impairing function of prefrontal cortex. The current study provide clear evidences of the impairment of target enhancement under acute stress, and reveal the cognitive mechanism of acute stress effects on attention selection. Genomic effects of the glucocorticoid receptor guide the acute stress-induced delayed anxiety and basolateral amygdala spine plasticity in rats

B., Goosens, K., Munhoz, C. D. Abstract: Anxiety, a state related to anticipatory fear, can be adaptive in the face of environmental threats or stressors. However, anxiety can also become persistent and manifest as anxiety- and stress-related disorders, such as generalized anxiety or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). In rodents, systemic administration of glucocorticoids (GCs) or short-term restraint stress induces anxiety-like behaviors and dendritic branching within the basolateral complex of the amygdala (BLA) ten days later. Additionally, increased arousal-related memory retention mediated by elevated GCs requires concomitant noradrenaline (NE) signaling, both acting in the BLA. It is unknown whether GCs and NE play a role in the delayed acute stress effects on BLA dendritic plasticity and behavior. Here, we show that inhibiting corticosterone (CORT) elevation during the two-hour restraint stress prevents stress-induced increases in delayed anxiety-like behaviors and BLA dendritic spine density in rats. Also, we show that acute stress's behavioral and morphological delayed effects are critically dependent on glucocorticoid receptor (GR) genomic actions in the BLA. Unlike CORT, the pharmacological enhancement of NE signaling in the BLA was insufficient to drive delayed anxiety-related behavior. Nonetheless, the delayed anxiety-like behavior 10 days after acute stress requires NE signaling in the BLA at the time it is expressed. Therefore, we define essential roles for two stress-related hormones acting at two different times, for the late stress consequences: CORT, via GR, immediately at stress; NE, via beta-adrenoceptors, during the expression of delayed behavior. Sirencide: The Impact of Acute Stress in Emergency Vehicle Crashes - 388

Emergency services provide an invaluable service to communities and cities around the world. Research has shown these professionals encounter significant acute psychological stress throughout their work shifts. Acute stress has been shown to impact human performance in various realms, from increased risk-taking to cognitive decline. While the actual work varies between firefighters, law enforcement, and emergency medical services, a shared commonality is the operation of emergency vehicles. Emergency vehicle crashes are recognized as a serious issue by FEMA. The current work aimed to measure the impact of acute stress on emergency responders as measured by fatal emergency vehicle crashes in the United States using a new variable: the type of call to which they were responding.   Utilizing data maintained by the United States Fire Administration, the study reviewed fatality data of firefighters who died in the line of duty from 2000 to 2019. Deaths from vehicle crashes while responding to emergency incidents were coded using details from the fatality narratives. Crashes that led to multiple firefighter fatalities were coded as a single case, yielding 144 cases. These were then weighted using nationwide response statistics to create an exposure variable for each type of incident. The exposure was calculated based on the estimated number of responses to each incident type, as well as the typical number of vehicles that respond to each type of incident.   The results showed a considerably higher ratio of cases occurring while responding to fires compared to all other types of emergencies. Firefighters encounter over nine times the likelihood of being involved in a fatal crash while responding to a fire. Specifically, structure-fire responses were determined to pose the highest risk of encountering a fatal crash during response. When compared to emergency medical incidents, which are the most common type of calls to which fire departments answer, structure-fire responses posed nearly 20 times the risk of a fatal crash occurring. These results indicate that attempts to reduce motor vehicle crashes among emergency services should focus on human factors, specifically creating and implementing tools to reduce the acute stress and urgency produced by responses to certain incident types.       About the Host Richard B. Gasaway, PhD, CSP is widely considered a trusted authority on human factors, situational awareness and the high-risk decision making processes used in high-stress, high consequence work environments. He served 33 years on the front lines as a firefighter, EMT-Paramedic, company officer, training officer, fire chief and emergency incident commander.  His doctoral research included the study of cognitive neuroscience to understand how human factors flaw situational awareness and impact high-risk decision making.   Contact us www.SAMatters.com www.RichGasaway.com 612-548-4424 (office)   Let's Get connected Facebook: SAMatters LinkedIn: Rich Gasaway LinkedIn: Situational Awareness Matters Twitter: Rich Gasaway Youtube: SAMattersTV itunes: SAMatters Radio Stitcher Radio: SAMatters Radio Google Play: SAMatters Radio iHeart Radio: SAMatters Radio   Firefighter Near Miss Reporting System http://www.firefighternearmiss.com/   Dusty Lambert dustylambert@gmail.com The SAMatters Show is the longest running, fastest growing, safety focused weekly program on the Internet. Clayton Instagram: @jcware99 Facebook: Clayton Ware Our Identity: WellHouse Church is a church seeking to reimagine what the church is. Too many people have been hurt by a church in their past, because church has become something that it was never meant to be: an event or building that we attend. At WellHouse, we believe that the people of God are the church and that the love of God should be experienced through the people of God. So, WellHouse has returned to a New Testament expression of our faith by meeting in homes and dedicating ourselves to: the teaching of the scriptures, the fellowship of the believers, the breaking of bread together, and praying together for one another. We are focused on being a genuine expression of Christian hospitality and service to our community and the people of our community. At WellHouse we want to be a place where people can Be Real, Be Relational, and Be Restored. As our leadership was dreaming up this vision, we looked at Scripture and saw that the earliest expressions of the church met in homes and it was rare that all of the believers were together. Today, most churches have found themselves spending a large portion of their budget on buildings that they rarely use. Not WellHouse. We want to keep our overhead low so we can spend our money on the things that matter, being the hands and feet of Jesus. So, we meet in the homes of our members for the majority of our meetings. Once per month, we all come together at a rented facility to devote our selves together as the whole church for the purpose of worshipping God together.

Link to bioRxiv paper: http://biorxiv.org/cgi/content/short/2020.11.10.377275v1?rss=1 Authors: Borodovitsyna, O., Chandler, D. J. Abstract: Adolescence is a critical period of development with increased sensitivity toward psychological stressors. Many psychiatric conditions emerge during adolescence and animal studies have shown that that acute stress has long-term effects on hypothalamic pituitary adrenal axis function and behavior. We recently demonstrated that acute stress produces long-term electrophysiological changes in locus coeruleus and long-lasting anxiety-like behavior in adolescent male rats. Based on prior reports of increased stress sensitivity during adolescence and increased sensitivity of female locus coeruleus toward corticotropin releasing factor, we hypothesized that the same acute stressor would cause different behavioral and physiological responses in adolescent female and adult male rats one week after stressor exposure. In this study, we assessed age and sex differences in how an acute psychological stressor affects corticosterone release, anxiety-like behavior, and locus coeruleus physiology at short- and long-term intervals. All groups of animals responded to stress with elevated corticosterone levels at the acute time point. One week after stressor exposure, adolescent females showed decreased firing of locus coeruleus neurons upon current injection and increased exploratory behavior compared to controls. The results were in direct contrast to changes observed in adolescent males, which showed increased anxiety-like behavior and increased spontaneous and induced firing locus coeruleus neurons a week after stressor exposure. Adult males were both behaviorally and electrophysiologically resilient to the long-term effects of acute stress. Therefore, there may be a normal developmental trajectory for locus coeruleus neurons which promotes stress resilience in adults, but stressor exposure during adolescence perturbs their function. Furthermore, while locus coeruleus neurons are more sensitive to stressor exposure during adolescence, the effect varies between adolescent males and females. These findings suggest that endocrine, behavioral, and physiological responses to stress vary among animals of different age and sex, and therefore these variables should be taken into account when selecting models and designing experiments to investigate the effects of stress. These differences in animals may also allude to age and sex differences in the prevalence of various psychiatric illnesses within the human population. Copy rights belong to original authors. Learn how to manage your stress. We've got plenty to be stressed about these days, from the coronavirus, to racial injustice, to climate change and the assault on democratic institutions. In this episode we examine the fourth of our eight CogWheels of Brain Health -  Stress Management. Chronic, uncontrolled stress can and does cause people to age more quickly and to die prematurely. But there is good evidence to suggest that our mental attitudes about stress are critical to whether stress harms us or helps us. Stress may be harmful in large part because we think it will be harmful. The danger arises, in other words, when we get stressed out about stress. In this episode we draw distinctions between different types of stress – good and bad - and also examine important research on how changing our mindsets about stress can help us to minimize the harm and maximize the benefits of our natural stress responses.Episode #5 Chapters IntroductionAcute StressChronic StressEustressStress Management StrategiesStress Got a Bad Rap (McGonnigal & Crum)Coping with Current StressorsConclusion

Abstract: Acute stress is ubiquitous in everyday life, but the extent to which acute stress affects how people learn from the outcomes of their choices is still poorly understood. Here, we investigate how acute stress impacts reward and punishment learning in men using a reinforcement-learning task. Sixty-two male participants performed the task whilst under stress and control conditions. We observed that acute stress impaired participants' choice performance towards monetary gains, but not losses. To unravel the mechanism(s) underlying such impairment, we fitted a reinforcement-learning model to participants' trial-by-trial choices. Computational modeling indicated that under acute stress participants learned more slowly from positive prediction errors - when the outcomes were better than expected - consistent with stress-induced dopamine disruptions. Such mechanistic understanding of how acute stress impairs reward learning is particularly important given the pervasiveness of stress in our daily life and the impact that stress can have on our wellbeing and mental health. W., Vitaterna, M. H. Abstract: Because regular sleep disruption can increase vulnerability to stress-related psychiatric disorders, there is a need to explore novel countermeasures to increase stress resilience after inadequate sleep. In this study, we explored the impact of 5 days of intermittent sleep disruption on vulnerability to acute social defeat stress in mice, and investigated the ability of the environmental, immunomodulatory bacterium Mycobacterium vaccae NCTC 11659 (MV) to promote stress resilience in that context. We found that mice receiving sleep disruption plus acute stress developed sleep and behavioral phenotypes that had some features of human posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) including reduced NREM delta power and increased NREM beta power in post-stress sleep EEG, persistent increases in sleep fragmentation and the REM:Sleep ratio, and behavioral changes. Importantly, immunization with heat-killed MV prevented the development of this phenotype. These results support further research into novel, microbial-based countermeasures to improve health and increase resilience to sleep disruption. Copy rights belong to original authors. "Any workout is a stress on the body. When you put that stress on the body, it needs to adapt to it in order to grow. Just like normal stress, we use it to grow and improve ourselves. Whether it's stress from exercise, jobs, or life in general, we need recovery." - Rob Dionne   Join The Open Sky Fitness Podcast Facebook Page! That's right! We have an Open Sky Fitness Podcast group where you and everyone have the opportunity to talk about your health and fitness goals in a safe environment. We post workouts and start discussions about how to be strategic around finding a healthier you. Check it out!   What Do You Do if You're Bored with Your Workout? We had a great question on the OSF Closed Facebook Group about what to do if you're bored with your current workout? What to do to switch things up or see results again if you're stuck in a rut. The response from our OSF Facebook group members was overwhelming and we'd like to share some of their suggestions here: Rediscover your WHY- What is your ultimate intention and why are you doing what you're doing to reach your goal. Do something different - Take a break from what you're doing (maybe every 4th-6th week) and do something new or fun with your workout - swim, dance, bike, or do yoga for example. Join a fitness group - take a fitness class such as yoga or Zumba or a join of group of people who enjoy doing the same thing as you such as a running club, cycling group, or Master's swim team. Get a new workout program - Either create a new program on your own or ask someone else to write a new program for you. This new program should still help you work towards your fitness goal. Find a lifting or workout partner - It will be fun to do a workout with someone else and they will also hold you accountable to your goal of going to the gym a couple of times a week or completing a goal.   The Path to Active Recovery From Stress   "Active recovery is being present with yourself and understanding what your body needs." -Rob and Devon Dionne On this week's episode of Open Sky Fitness, Rob and Devon took some time to discuss how we can use active recovery from stress to help re-build and energize our minds and bodies. You may think the best recovery is just to completely stop what you're doing and rest, but best recovery is one that still keeps you in motion with your goals and intentions. "Our bodies need continual active recovery rather than taking a complete rest period." - Devon Dionne   What is Active Recovery for Fitness? You can still keep up with your fitness goals while recovering by staying active on a daily basis. For example, if you're working out a lot by lifting heavy weights or doing intense cardio activities such as running, biking, and swimming, take a rest day and do a different, but fun activity. Active recovery for fitness can be joining a dance class, hiking, yoga, or surfing. It can be any other physical exercise that you enjoy doing. The main thing to remember is that it can be any form of physical exercise as long as it's n0t intense, but allows your mucles to function and rest at the same time.   Active Recovery from Stress   "We have to get over the idea that our stress or physical pains are happening because it's just the way that we are. There has to be something that's causing you to feel the way you are and you can put an end to it by discovering the root of the problem." - Rob Dionne   3 Different Types of Stress According to the American Psychological Association (APA), we can experience 3 different kinds of stress: Acute Stress, Episodic Acute Stress, and Chronic Stress. To intentionally begin active recovery from stress, you need to take something with yourself to discover what type of stress you are experiencing.    Acute Stress Acute stress is the stress that we experience on a day-to-day basis. It's the stress that comes and goes away in a short amount of time. Receiving a speeding ticket or having a bad interaction may cause you to experience acute stress. If you are not a regular skier, going skiing all day can also cause acute stress on the body because it's a sudden, abrupt stress that your body has to adapt to in a short amount of time.   Episodic Acute Stress Episodic acute stress happens to those are frequently stressed because they take on too much to do at once and blame themselves if things go wrong. They're often in a hurry and will feel overly anxious on a regular basis. The APA website puts people who have episodic acute stress into two groups: Type A and Worry Warts. People who are Type A will self-inflict stress onto themselves by following a tight schedule on purpose. They may suffer from migraines and constant tension to the point that they body just shuts down on itself. Worry Warts are pessimistic and constantly worrying about the future and afraid that nothing will work out the way that they want it to happen. They may feel anxious and depressed. Episodic acute stress can happen from numerous souces: Learning from watching how our family handles stress Work Relationships A 9-5 hour daily job Working 60+ hours per week Being a stay at home mom and constantly driving children from one place to the next. Those who self-inflict stress upon themselves may wear it like a badge of honor. They believe it's a positive thing that the more you work, the better yo are as a person because you do so much. However, this mindset will just cause you to experience more problems in the future because you are doing so much. No one can have a perfect schedule or happy life by doing so much at once that it cause unnecessary stress.   Chronic Stress Chronic stress can tear people down. It can greatly affect those who are dealing with constant stress that is making them feel like there is no hope or escape from it. Chronic stress can happen because of a job that you hate, not feeling appreciated by others, feeling trapped, or being in abusive relationships with others. People who are located in areas of constant war and repression will also experience constant chronic stress.   How to Cope with Episodic Acute Stress Because episodic acute stress is self-inflicting, you and only you have the power to turn things around for yourself OR with the the help of another person if you don't know how to change your life. The first step to coping with episodic acute stress is to recognize that you have it and you need to take responsibility to change it.   How to Actively Recover from Stress with Good Intentions   "When you pick your active recovery, it should be in line with your intentions and goals in life." - Rob Dionne   A couple of weeks ago, Rob and Devon discussed The Power of Intention to help us achieve our goals and live the life that we want to be in every day. When you think about what your intentions are for yourself, you want to try to create a life that you would love to be in every day.  Here is how you can use the power of intention to help you actively recover from stress:   List All of Your Favorite Things Listen to yourself and make a list of all the things that you love that also help you become more present with yourself and with others. Don't list anything that causes you to tune out such as: binge watching TV, going out a lot, or binge eating and drinking.   Schedule Time to Give Yourself More Self-Care Set aside a certain amount of time to solely focus on giving yourself more self-care. This can be either daily or monthly. Think about what is holding you back from achieving what you want and then purposefully create a schedule that helps you spend more time focusing on you and your goals. You should be creating a life for yourself that allows you to have more time for yourself.   Think About What Brings You Pure Joy Make a list of all of the things that truly bring you joy or anything at you enjoy doing. Next, break them down into time categories of how long each thing takes to do: 5 minutes, 1 hour, a fully day? Include anything that you can do a couple of times a day, per month, or each year. Some daily activities to help break up your stress may include: Walking A short workout Journaling Reading Praying Meditating During the week, you can enjoy: Favorite outdoor activities Crafts such as pottery or knitting Catching up with friends or family Classes Try to include anything that helps you to stop for a moment during your week to just be present with what's going on with you.   Schedule Time for Relationships Make sure you set some time aside to focus on building relationships with your family and loved ones. Choose a couple of hours or full day to cook dinner together, go out on a date, or simply making a habit of eating dinner together at the dinner table.     What You'll Hear on This Episode 00:00 Open Sky Fitness Introduction 1:15  Opening comments with Rob and Devon 4:00 Facebook group question- What do you do if you're bored with lifting? 10:10  Active Recovery from Stress 12:30  The three different kinds of stress that we deal with 19:00 How to deal with episodic stress 21:00  What mistakes do we make when we try to relieve our stress? 24:00 How to deal with your stress with good intentions 26:00  How is binge watching TV shows giving any value to your life? 28:40  What's a good plan for active recovery from stress? 40:30 How to set yourself up for active recovery from stress 46:00 Closing comments with Rob and Devon  51:05 Open Sky Fitness Closing   RESOURCES MENTIONED DURING THE SHOW: The Open Sky Fitness Podcast Group on Facebook Check out our upcoming guest: Ultrarunner, Coach, and 100 Mile American Record Holder, Zach Bitter American Psychological Association- Stress: The Different Kinds of Stress Listen to Episode 125 of the OSF Podcast: The Power of Intention Listen to Episode 126 of the OSF Podcast: How Do I Change?
