This podcast (my pandemic baby) started as a side project to help me with my speaking skills so I used English, Korean, and Filipino. Since the beginning until today (Oct 1), this podcast had gone through a number of changes. Now I mainly have guests who share their life experiences with a focus on their misadventures and learnings. This is also my way of making new friends or catching up with friends from the olden days. Join the conversation! Be a friend! The main episodes are also available in video format on my YouTube channel - https://www.youtube.com/c/romejuanatas/ caricature c/o jichan
The past 17 months had been really interesting and I enjoyed all the hours I spent producing episodes for this podcast. But now, this podcast has reached its end because it has already fulfilled its purpose. Anyway, below are the questions I answered in the episode. What are the top three qualities you look for in a friend? What simple gesture have you recently witnessed that renewed your hope in humanity? What is your favorite smell? What recent memory makes you smile the most? In one word, how would you describe your childhood? This might be the last episode for this podcast, but I am still producing episodes elsewhere. You can find me in the following podcasts:Subscribe | Kingka Podcast - K-Drama and Language Learning (transistor.fm)Subscribe | 별자리 // Constellations - Korean ASMR for Language Learners (transistor.fm)
Spoiler alert! I don't talk about Santa in this episode. Meanwhile, below are the questions I answered in this episode: In one sentence, how would you describe your relationship with your mother? What was the most defining moment in your life during this past year? What's the number one change you need to make in your life in the next twelve months? What makes you feel secure? What is your favorite sound? To me, skincare is... I'm not the best person to ask about skincare but I'd just leave this episode here so I can refer back to it in the future to remind me of my thoughts about taking care of my skin. Meanwhile, below are the questions I answered in this episode: How many hours of television do you watch in a week? A month? A year? What is the biggest obstacle that stands in your way right now? What do you sometimes pretend you understand that you really don't? What do you like most about your job? What do you dislike most about your job? What's something new you recently learned about yourself? Improv has made a lot of impact in my life in the past year and I thought I'd share about it tonight. 2020 is the year I decided I'd do improv again and it's one of the best decisions I made that year. Anyhoo, below are the questions I answered today: Whom do you secretly envy? Why? In twenty years, what do you want to remember? What are you most excited about in your life right now – today? What experience from this past year do you appreciate the most? What is the most enjoyable thing your family has done together in the last three years? I have just finished watching all of How to Get Away with Murder tonight and I have enjoyed everything about it. It's worth the 4000+ minutes my family and I spent on it. Anyhoo, below are the questions I answered today: Who has had the greatest impact on your life? Are you happy with where you are in your life? Why? In one year from today, how do you think your life will be different? How have you sabotaged yourself in the past five years? Other than money, what else have you gained from your current job? I'm doing artsy stuff again recently so I think I'm kind of rediscovering art in a way. Anyway, below are the questions I answered in this episode: At what point during the last five years have you felt lost and alone? What is one opportunity you believe you missed out on when you were younger? What do you want more of in your life? What do you want less of in your life? Who depends on you? Nope, this is not about the Netflix Original. Just some quick thoughts about my love for sweets and my surface level memories about dental care. Anyway, below are the questions I answered in this episode: What has fear of failure stopped you from doing? Who would you like to please the most? If you could go back in time and change things, what would you change about the week that just passed? When you meet someone for the very first time what do you want them to think about you? This is not a tech podcast and I'm not really reviewing Apple Music's Dolby Atmos in detail. I'm just blurting out my thoughts in an unorganized manner. I also shared some life updates, and below are the questions I answered in this episode: Which one of your responsibilities do you wish you could get rid of? What's something you don't like to do that you are still really good at? What type of person angers you the most? What is missing in your life? What is your most striking physical attribute? I know it's too early for reviewing how I've fared toward my goals this year to call it a half-year review, but I'm doing it anyway. Better to do it early and realign things as soon as I can. I shared a bit about my goals in this episode, and you don't have to if you don't feel like it. Anyway, below are the questions I answered in this episode: If you could live forever, would you want to? Why? If you had to be someone else for one day, who would you be and why? What positive changes have you made in your life recently? Who makes you feel good about yourself? What is your biggest regret? This idea just crossed my mind because of a video about Schopenhauer's take on reading books in general. I thought I'd piggyback on the idea and share a few thoughts about consumption of other people's ideas and taking the time to refine one's own. Anyway, below are the questions I answered in this episode: When should you reveal a secret that you promised you wouldn't reveal? How would you spend your ideal day? What is the one primary quality you look for in a significant other? What do you admire most about your mother and father? What is the best advice you have ever received? I am not proud of it, but I'm now starting to forget the names of people I used to know and some terms whenever I try to speak spontaneously. This is normal, right? No reason to be worried. haha Anyway, below are the questions I answered in this episode: What do you understand today about your life that you did not understand a year ago? I didn't have a specific topic prepared today, so I decided to just read a page on my journal and reflect on it for a bit. It's nice to do this from time to time. Anyway, below are the questions I answered in this episode: If you could relive yesterday what would you do differently? What do you do over and over again that you hate doing? Would you rather your child be less attractive and extremely intelligent or extremely attractive and less intelligent? What white lies do you often tell? This is not a well-articulated thought. I'm just processing it while talking about it on the podcast, so my views and my opinions on the topic might have already changed when you get to listen to the episode. Well, does it matter? Anyway, the questions I answered in this episode are as follows: What are you uncertain about? What do you think about when you lie awake in bed? What’s something most people don’t know about you? This episode is more of a stream of consciousness thing and I spoke of some thoughts regarding podcasting solo. It's challenging, nerve-wrecking, and disorienting at times. But it is also fulfilling in a way. Below are the questions I answered in this episode: What was your last major accomplishment? Through all of life’s twists and turns who has been there for you? Below are the questions I have answered for today's episode: If I could grant you one wish what would you wish for? What have you read online recently that inspired you? Why do religions that advocate unity divide the human race? If you could live one day of your life over again, what day would you choose? What can money not buy?

Arnila Geronimo is currently working as a legal assistant in a government office and also an aspiring artist. She was one of my classmate/friend from high school and has actually already joined this podcast as a guest in the earlier seasons. In this episode, we talked about learning how to do art by self-studying, doing self-assessments, experiencing self-discovery, and some bits about TikTok which I've no idea about. (Yeah, I don't use TikTok and it never crossed my mind to download the app. I'm still not.) Anyway, this episode is more interesting as I originally thought it would be, so give it a listen and see for yourself :D You can find Arnila's artwork on her IG: arnilajamine This episode is also available in video format on my YouTube channel - https://www.youtube.com/c/romejuanatas/

Simon Cho is a native Korean who is recently taking his MBA in the Ateneo de Manila University. He spent a significant number of his youthful years in the Philippines while also having studied and worked in Canada, South Korea, and the US. While he already speaks English and Korean so fluently, he is also learning Mandarin (now at an advanced level) and is quite interested in improving his Tagalog. In this episode, Simon shared some tips on how to do well in the Test of Proficiency in Korean (T stands for Test in TOPIK so TOPIK Exam sounds a bit redundant then LOL). He also shared how he thinks everyone could write better Korean essays and how to overcome language learning plateaus. There's quite a number of language learning tips spread out through the interview so pick them up and see what works for you best. Simon also teaches Korean so if you're interested to learn by having him as a tutor, feel free to reach out to us and we'll get you connected to him.
