Read OnlineJesus' Transforming PeaceJesus said to his disciples: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.” John 14:27There are two types of peace we can enjoy. First, there is worldly peace. This peace is the absence of conflict, war, or external turmoil. Civil governments must work to ensure this peace by protecting their societies from outside aggressors, maintaining order within their communities, and assisting with basic human needs, such as economic development, healthcare, and justice. This form of peace aligns with human reason and is based in the natural law, which is written on the consciences of every person.Though that form of natural peace and justice is good, it is not the highest form of peace we are called to enjoy. The peace that our Lord came to bestow is supernatural, enabling us not only to survive, but to thrive on a moral and spiritual level, even in the absence of worldly peace. Jesus' spiritual gift of peace enables us to find fulfillment in the midst of every external difficulty. If we seek only worldly peace, then any difficulty or disorder will trouble and unsettle our hearts. For that reason, Jesus said, “Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.” Wars, oppression, crime, poverty, and disease have plagued humanity from the beginning and will persist, in varying degrees, until the end of time. Only when Jesus returns to establish His visible Kingdom as the Universal King will external peace be fully and permanently established. What a glorious day that will be!For now, until the Second Coming, we must learn not only to survive but to thrive within the world. Given the inevitable challenges every human life will encounter, if we want to live in true peace then we must seek out the peace that our Lord promises in today's Gospel. This Gospel comes from Jesus' Last Supper Discourse with His Apostles. As that discourse concludes two chapters later, Jesus prays His High Priestly prayer to the Father: “I do not ask that you take them out of the world but that you keep them from the evil one” (John 17:15). We must live within this fallen world for now, but we do not have to suffer interior afflictions. The evil one has great influence in this world, yet our Lord promises that if we receive His peace, we will be kept safe from the devil's attacks. Though we might suffer some form of external oppression, internally we will be at peace, no matter what we face. The gift of peace that Jesus promises confounds the powers of darkness and is freely given to all who turn to Him and submit to His spiritual governance. The martyrs are the prime example of this interior peace in the midst of exterior persecution. They imitate our Lord, Who permitted the evil one to afflict Him with earthly suffering and death. Jesus confronted that evil with perfect confidence and peace, overcoming it through divine love that won the final victory. In the Eucharist, He continues to share His peace with us, strengthening our hearts against every trial.Reflect today on Jesus' words to His disciples at the Last Supper. At that time, they did not realize they were about to witness Jesus' Passion. Nor did they realize that, in the years to come, they would endure many hardships in their faithful service to God's will. Similarly, if we listen to Jesus' discourse and heed His words, we must embrace them as the Apostles eventually did, once they received the Holy Spirit. We must rely on grace to find courage in the face of life's afflictions—poverty, illness, loss, persecution, and temptation. As you ponder yourself being with the Apostles during this discourse on Holy Thursday, resolve to accept Jesus' promise so that you are spiritually prepared to live in interior peace, no matter the exterior circumstances you might face.Lord of true peace, there are many things in this world that seek to steal my peace. Please give me the confidence I need to always turn to You, no matter what affliction comes my way, so that I will remain in You as You remain in me, enabling me to receive Your all-consuming gift of peace. Friends of the Rosary,After Jesus had fed the five thousand men and his disciples saw him walking on the sea, the crowd was looking for Jesus, as we read in the Gospel today (John 6:22-29), Monday of the Third Week of Easter:Jesus, seeing what was in their hearts, invited them to believe in Him and said:"Amen, amen, I say to you, you are looking for menot because you saw signsbut because you ate the loaves and were filled.Do not work for food that perishesbut for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you.For on him the Father, God, has set his seal."So they said to him,"What can we do to accomplish the works of God?"St. Augustine rightly wrote:"How often do we seek the Lord for what He can give us rather than for who He is?""The food that perishes satisfies only for a moment, but the food that endures for eternal life nourishes the soul forever.""Christ invites us to labor not for earthly bread alone, but for the Bread of Life which He himself will give.""Our restless seeking for temporary satisfactions must give way to faith in the One sent by the Father. The Father has set His seal upon the Son, marking Him as the true sustenance of humanity."Alleluia! This sermon was delivered by Daniel Featherstone on Easter Sunday, exploring the question of where our true hope for the future lies. Daniel reflects on how easily we can place our hope in temporary, worldly things—such as money, careers, and personal success. Yet he gently reminds us that these things do not last. Instead, he encourages us to anchor our hope in Jesus Christ. While everything else may fade, Christ remains constant. As believers, we are called to hold firmly to Him—our Living Hope—who rose from the dead not only to redeem us, but also to offer us the promise of eternal life in Him.
Kyle Kauffman | Apr 12 2026 In the events of Easter Jesus has forever secured the future hope for all who trust in him. This hope is that our bodies will be raised from the dead and we will live with Jesus in a perfect kingdom where there is no more trouble, tragedy, division, violence, loneliness, pain, and death. This is a hope that will be realized when Jesus returns to raise our bodies and bring his heavenly kingdom fully to this earth. It's important for us to be clear on the content and timing of our hope. Hope is most powerful in our lives when it is most clear in our heads and hearts. While there are things about our future hope that remain a mystery, 1 Corinthians 15:35-58 gives us details that help us to have more clarity on the hope that Jesus has secured for us. It is a hope that stirs our hearts with longing and expectation. It is a hope that sustains us through the troubles and trials we face in this life. And it is a hope that can help us to live purposefully in the present even as we wait for the return of our Victorious King.
In his Easter sermon, Andrew uses the object lesson of a torn and restored piece of paper to illustrate how the resurrection of Jesus possesses the power to take broken lives and make them whole. The biblical narrative deliberately places the empty tomb in a garden to parallel the Garden of Eden, symbolizing God's overarching mission to repair the spiritual disconnection caused by human rebellion. By appearing first to Mary Magdalene—a woman who lived in constant shame—the resurrected Christ demonstrates a divine reversal where the sinful are made holy through grace rather than human achievement. Rather than merely proving His victory to a crowd, Jesus steps intimately into human grief, calling individuals by name to offer healing and hope. Ultimately, the resurrection is presented not just as a historical event, but as an ongoing reality where the life of heaven actively colonizes earth, inviting everyone into a restored relationship with God before the final promise of a renewed Garden City.
We all have had moments in life we wish we could have back. We have said words to someone we wish we hadn't, we have treated someone unkindly, and at times, we sense there is something more to life than what we are experiencing. So, what do you do with this? We look to the one who has come to save. We recognize that the reality of the resurrection changes everything. All of us have fallen short, missed the mark, and need rescue, and Easter Sunday reminds us that Jesus saves.

1. Jesus REFRAMES Your PAST Romans 8:27-28 NIV 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God's people in accordance with the will of God. 28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. John 20:24-28 NASB 24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, who was called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples were saying to him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the imprint of the nails, and put my finger into the place of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.” 26 Eight days later His disciples were again inside, and Thomas was with them. Jesus *came, the doors having been shut, and stood in their midst and said, “Peace be to you.” 27 Then He *said to Thomas, “Place your finger here, and see My hands; and take your hand and put it into My side; and do not continue in disbelief, but be a believer.” 28 Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” 1. Romans 5:5-11 - Speaker: Lukus Counterman - Easter is a time when Christians celebrate their risen Savior. The biblical record explains how Jesus was crucified for sinners and on the third day rose from the grave. The tomb could not hold him because he had victory over death. That first Easter Jesus arose as Lord of all. As we prepare to worship our risen Christ, consider all that the resurrection means. It means God loves us. It means Satan doesn't get the last laugh. It means Jesus' payment was enough. It means our Savior can offer life. Consider the resurrection and worship the Lord this Easter!

Bob Schwahn | Lead Pastor | April 5, 2026 Referenced Scripture: Colossians 2:13-14, Philippians 3:8-21, John 20:19, 1 Corinthians 15:20, John 3:16-18 Reflection Questions:1. What is your observation of the “cancel culture” that we live in today? How would you describe “cancel culture”? What are some examples you have seen of people today being cancelled? Would you say that cancelling people is fair or unfair? Explain your answer. How might it feel to be cancelled by the world around you? 2. Big Idea: Jesus did not come to cancel people, but to cancel sin.Read Colossians 2:13-14, John 3:16-18How does it feel to know that Jesus has cancelled your sin but will never cancel you? How can we know that Jesus will never cancel us? How does this change how we might respond to our failures in this life? 3. When you reflect on the resurrection of Jesus what gives you hope and encourages your heart? 4. Read Philippians 3:10-11How have you experienced the power of the resurrection in your life? (ie. How has your life changed? How have you experienced a growing relationship with Jesus? How have you seen the power of Jesus at work in your life?) 5. Paul says that part of knowing Jesus is participating in the same kind of suffering that He experienced. What kind of suffering did Jesus experience in his life? Why can this be a comforting thought when we are experiencing pain and suffering and loss in our life? Why is it important to understand that that suffering is a normal part of knowing and walking with Jesus? 6. Read 1 Corinthians 15:20Jesus' physical resurrection is called the first fruits of our resurrection. What does this verse mean? Reflect on the reality that you will be given a physical body for all of eternity that will not age, decay, get sick, experience pain or loss, suffering, or death…What thoughts does this bring to mind? How does that hit you emotionally? What questions does it raise for you? What hope does this give us? Why? What's your next step? * Connect: We'd love to connect with you! Welcome to Sylvan Way and thanks for joining us as we worship Jesus! Title: Why we celebrate Easter Easter changes everything. In John 11, Jesus stands in front of a tomb and calls Lazarus from death to life. That miracle points to the greater truth of Easter: Jesus did not come just to make life better. He came to make dead people alive. If you've ever felt disappointed, stuck, empty, ashamed, or like God did not show up the way you expected, this message is for you. Jesus is not just powerful. He is the resurrection and the life. Because He died and rose again, there is hope, freedom, and new life today. Jesus makes dead things alive. Episode 397 The True Meaning of Easter | Jesus Christ Through Scripture As we celebrate Easter—also known as Resurrection Weekend—let's take a moment to truly reflect on what this season is all about. It's not just tradition. It's not just a holiday. It's about Jesus Christ. In this powerful episode of the Relevance For Today Podcast, we walk through the life of Jesus Christ using Scripture, reminding ourselves of the ultimate sacrifice He made for each and every one of us. John 3:16–17 reminds us: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." This message is simple but life-changing: Jesus came to save you. If you haven't asked Jesus Christ into your life, don't wait another day. This could be the moment that changes everything. My prayer is that this episode inspires you, encourages you, and draws you closer to God in a mighty way. Be sure to subscribe, share, and spread the message of hope. Stay Blessed and Less Stressed. Easter '26 Jesus will keep his promises
What does it mean to truly welcome Jesus into the "city" of your heart? In this powerful Easter message, Ps. Carol Gossman explores the significance of Jesus' entry into Jerusalem and what His arrival meant then—and what it means for us today.
In this episode, Kelly talks with Dr. Robert K.C. Forman, author of “Christianity Imagined,” about how Christianity drew him in, what's meaningful to him about Christian practice, and what many modern Christians miss about Jesus' message. Dr. Forman shares his journey through various spiritual practices, describes the church experience that changed everything for him, and defines the distinction between the pre-Easter and post-Easter Jesus as an example for us to follow. This is an important conversation for the “mystics on the margins,” who are in touch with the spiritual, find comfort and power and prayer, but do not necessarily believe in the kind of God that churches traditionally teach about. Dr. Robert K.C. Forman is a prolific writer, teacher, and spiritual guide. Through his work as a university professor, ordained interfaith minister, hospital chaplain, and more, Dr. Forman has tirelessly studied the intellectual and mystical aspects of human spiritual experience. His latest book, Christianity Reimagined, offers a fresh perspective on faith, illuminating the voices of “mystics on the margins” whose insights challenge and enrich the spiritual landscape. Most of us were taught to see Christmas through the lens of Easter: Jesus was born to die for our sins so we could all go to heaven. The whole story points to the cross. While that is true, it is not the whole picture. So we ask a different question in this episode:What were people celebrating before anyone knew how the story would end?We talk about the good news Jesus announced from the start:Hope for the poor. Freedom for the oppressed. Comfort for the brokenhearted. A new kind of kingdom for people who were tired of carrying heavy burdens. This episode is the side of Christmas many of us never heard growing up, and our hope is it changes the way you see Christmas this year.If you want to believe there is still something good in the middle of all of *this* - this episode is for you.The arrival of Jesus was never only about what would happen later. It was also about what he brought with him the moment he showed up.Restoration. Hope. A place to belong.Christ is born for you. Merry Christmas everybody.__________________Follow us on social:http://instagram.com/jonathan_caronehttp://instagram.com/ericw712https://www.threads.com/@jonathan_caronehttps://www.threads.com/@ericw712__________________Tension was called Unlearning Youth Group for the first six seasons. It's Witness Wednesday! In today's episode, Todd Friel engages in meaningful conversations with several university students. First up is Cole, a pro-lifer who isn't a believer. Later, Todd speaks with agnostic Moira, discussing God's existence and Moira's personal experiences with Christianity. Todd continually points the students back to the ultimate hope that we are called to share - the gospel of grace through God's Son. Segment 1 • Cole intrigued by Christianity but skeptical of its claims. • Todd shifts focus from crusades to Cole's personal sin problem. • God's holiness vs. human sinfulness is the real crisis. Segment 2 – Cole (part 2) • Cole wrestles with the Trinity and Jesus' dual nature. • Todd explains how only God-in-flesh could be a worthy substitute. • Salvation is central—Father sends, Son saves, Spirit convicts. Segment 3 • Agnostic Moira shares what she knows about Easter. • She only believes what she can see, and doesn't personally see the importance of faith. • Moira has been put off from Christianity by bad personal experiences. Segment 4 • Todd holds Moira to account against God's commandments. • She admits guilt when confronted with God's commands. • Todd explains Easter: Jesus' death and resurrection solves our sin and shame problem. ___ Thanks for listening! Each year, Christians around the world celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter. The impact of the resurrection is so profound that each of the four gospels tells the story. The details vary, but each account clearly announces that Jesus Christ is risen! As we study the gospel stories of Jesus' victory over death, we're invited to participate in telling Christ's story again and again.
On the cross, Jesus said It is Finished and then gave up his Spirit and Died. The resurrection is the proof that Jesus is not finished and salvation is possible for anyone who believes, trusts, submits and surrender their lives to Jesus.

Jesus came to cancel the things that hold you prisoner! Luke 4:18-19 Speaker: Kevin Stiles
Our study in Hebrews comes to a close with an incredible one-sentence summary of the entire book: Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and forever! Over 13 chapters, the author of Hebrews has shown us the sufficiency and uniqueness of Jesus, urging us to leave behind all the substitutes and distractions, and to press on in faith and obedience. In this Easter message, we celebrate all Jesus has done in history, his personal presence with us today, and his future renewal of all things. Because Jesus alone is "yesterday and today and forever," we can trust him completely and worship him unceasingly!

And then what? Have you ever taken a moment in your Easter celebrations to consider the answer to this question… to look to see what happens next in Scripture AFTER we read that the tomb was empty? When we do, what we find, is another 40 days of Jesus here on Earth. Annnndddd we also find a whole lot of post-Resurrection moments that could only be described as this…. Mundane. Now that's definitely not a word any of us would have EVER thought could be associated with Easter, right?! BUT, in today's episode, we'll learn how the seemingly mundane post-Resurrection appearances of Jesus were actually not that at all … and yes… you heard that right… Our Savior, who defeated death and the grave, did not choose fireworks or parades but instead used ordinary interactions with people to announce His Resurrection. Honestly, this is especially incredible as we consider the fact that this message Jesus entrusted to nobodies somehow made it to our ears and hearts 2,000 years later. Amazing. Be sure to listen in for LOTS of talk about 40 days… and day 41 even. All of this and so much more… Let's be sure we don't rush through this week without taking a moment to fix our eyes not only on the Resurrection but also all those appearances Jesus made to many before ascending to heaven… on day 41. Wishing all of you the happiest of Easters as you celebrate that our Jesus is Risen… He is Risen Indeed OOBT friends!
