Neolithic peoples erected stones in our studio, but despite these alignments we continue to produce content the way our forefathers taught us to. Topics include: The Last Dinner Party, Sorry, billy woods & Kenny Segal, Ben Seretan, Smashing Pumpkins, whether $10k of audiophile equipment impressed us, and the bishops who permitted the drone festival to defile the sanctuary. Also, a secret nepobaby track proves Parisi's Theorem.

Rumination often provides a path forwards, an avenue through which we can truly, finally let shit go. It's a process that songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Nico Hedley is well acquainted with, and, after years of playing in various backing bands (including that of his Whatever's Clever collaborator Ben Seretan), he's released his debut record Painterly, 9 tracks of AM country catharsis, a reflective journey back in time. On this episode, I spoke with Hedley about the long winding road that lead to this record, and over the course of our conversation we took the scenic route, discussing topics including closure, hyper self-criticism, the Emily Dickinson quote that informs the LP's title track, and the very human attempt to, gradually, “be less of an asshole.” Hedley was also gracious enough to perform three tracks from this effort in the LOCAL BOPS studio — enjoy. "Reframing from struggling to juggling— that's a designerly lens." —Nick Durrant We finally make our way out of the fog, with help from an unexpected source. Building off this "a-ha," we design phase 2 of our research plan, which takes us away from our desks and into the world. We also hear from Jeff Greger, a member of the FAIR Money research collective, who turns out to be doing some very similar work on the opposite side of the globe. Our theme song is by Rob Rusli, with additional music from Rob Rusli, Ben Seretan and Thad Wenatchee. "Design research is not something comfortable, at all." —Dalma Kadocsa There's this little secret about the design process that nobody likes to talk about. It's an anxiety-provoking, scary moment. It can feel pointless, but it actually has a purpose. What is it? Why do we work this way? Our team hits this moment of truth, and tries to maneuver out of it through a meeting with a certain expert in the sector. In this episode we used a custom rap by Saeid Edward. Our theme song is by Rob Rusli, plus additional music in this episode from Rob Rusli Adam Selzer, Ben Seretan, Quartet San Francisco, and Thad Wenatchee. "In a digital world, because we are the de-facto urban planners of our time, I think [redlining] is a term we need to pay a lot more attention to." —Michael Hardy In this episode we share and summarize the findings of our research in financial services and inclusion. From the poverty premium to digital "poor doors," there are a lot of opinions and complicated politics to understand. We hear from a digital expert, an ethnographer and lots of people immersed in problems of finance and banking while struggling to make ends meet. The At Your Service Theme Song is by Rob Rusli. In this episode we used additional music from Rob Rusli, Falcao & Monashee, Mambisa, Bob Roberts and Ben Seretan. Author: Malgorzata Sadowska | FSR Category: FSR webinar recording Level: intermediate Date of release: December 2014 Recorded on 17th December 2014 How does EU law treat capacity mechanisms? A number of European countries are concerned about the security of their electricity supply and set up capacity mechanisms to encourage investment in new generation or support existing and less profitable conventional power plants. The European Commission closely examines these state-driven measures under EU law, as their uncoordinated implementation across Europe might have negative effects on the increasingly interconnected energy markets and thwart EU energy policy objectives. What restrictions can the EU law impose on capacity mechanisms to minimise the distortions of the internal energy market? Can state aid, competition policy and internal market rules work? http://fsr.eui.eu/Events/ENERGY/Webinar/2014/141217SadowskaWebinar.aspx This is a recording of webinar held on 17th December 2014, moderated by Riccardo Galletta | Florence School of Regulation -- Music "I Could Use Time to Just Chill With You" by Ben Seretan is licensed under a Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 United States License.
