THE SPLENDID BOHEMIANS PRESENT "THE BEAT GOES ON"- EPISODE 1-THE ROSY DRAMA OF HENRY MILLER -THIS NEW SERIES CAPTURES A LITERARY MOVEMENT GUIDED BY INDIVIDUALISM, LUNACY, INGENUITY AND THE BE BOP NOTIONS THAT ALTERED THOUGHT, VERSE, AND SELF

Welcome to our new series, “The Beat Goes On,” where we will celebrate the work and enduring influence of Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, William Burroughs, and the other writers whom we identify as “The Beats.” - that crop of artists who worked to expand our consciousness, exploring the hidden possibilities of post WW2 America in the 1950s - Other significant names to be explored: Diane Di Prima, Tuli Kupferberg, Ed Sanders, Delmore Schwarz, Anne Waldman, Carolyn Cassidy, and many others. We will also include jazz musicians like Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Dizzy Gillespie, whose sinuous Bebop lines influenced the expansive prose of Kerouac and poetry of Ginsberg, and comedians like Lenny Bruce, Lord Buckley, Brother Theodore and Dick Gregory with their scathing critique and unmasking of our nation's hypocrisy beneath the self-deceptive rhetoric of American exceptionalism.  And, then there are their artistic children like Hunter S. Thompson, Charles Bukowski, Tom Waits and Lou Reed…. The list goes on.First off: we need to define that confusing term “beat”… Once the satirists were able to pin them down, the Beats and their devotees were labelled “Beatniks” (a cold war epithet) and put into a farcical box. This is where I, as a child, first became aware of them through the character of Maynard G. Krebs on the Dobie Gillis show. The child-like, pre-hippie with the dirty sweatshirt and goatee, indelibly played by Bob Denver, later of Gilligan fame. He was a gentle figure of fun, not to be taken seriously. But, the truth goes so much deeper. Kerouac defined Beat as short for “beatitude” - a state of grace, a codex for the maturing “peace and love” Baby Boom generation coming up - those in search of existence's deeper meaning beyond the consumerist and war-like American culture being offered as our only option.Well, boy, do we need them now! HENRY MILLER INTERVIEWOur inaugural offering is a 1964 interview with the writer Henry Miller, of TROPIC OF CANCER, TROPIC OF CAPRICORN, and THE ROSY CRUCIFIXION TRILOGY fame, among many others. This is an insightful, in depth look at a artist of gargantuan influence. Miller was interviewed by Audrey June Wood  in Minneapolis during a speaking tour; he considered this interview to be one of his best. Miller discourses on some of his favorite books and authors and the struggle of writing well. It was released on Smithsonian/ Folkways Records.Strictly speaking, Miller was not a Beat - he preceded them, and out lived many of them, making it to 88 in 1980, but he was their spiritual and artistic pathfinder.Living hand to mouth, on the edge, abroad in Paris, writing free form in a raw, explicit, semi-autobiographical manner, telling the truth about sex, love, art, and struggle - he set the artistic compass for the Beats - as Dostoevsky and Walt Whitman had done before him. They are all part of a chain - a chain of searchers, and we are fortunate to have these lights to guide us on our own personal journeys to self realization. Please enjoy…THE BEAT GOES ON.

GinsGlobal Index Fund CEO Anthony Ginsberg talked with Proactive about the performance of the GinsGlobal Tech Megatrend UCITS ETF (ITEK) amid shifting geopolitical and economic conditions. Ginsberg noted that the ETF is up 1% year-to-date, with a remarkable 25% gain over the past month alone. He attributed the rally to strength in key technology subthemes, including digital entertainment, AI, robotics, cloud computing, and cybersecurity. Unlike many tech funds, the ETF avoids heavy concentration in US tech giants, instead offering equal weighting across eight subthemes and 120 holdings globally. Ginsberg emphasised: “Really playing the IT game in a broader manner has actually helped us and spread out the risk.” The fund's resilience followed an initial decline linked to tariff uncertainty under the Trump administration. However, as Ginsberg explained, “Most of our tech holdings… are all pretty much in the services space,” and thus less affected by manufacturing-focused tariffs. He also highlighted a more positive policy environment in the US, with prospects for tax cuts, deregulation, and potential interest rate reductions. These are seen as supportive for growth stocks. Ginsberg underscored the importance of convergence across tech sectors, arguing that investors should consider the broader ecosystem rather than focusing narrowly on themes like AI or robotics alone. California-based Saffer Anthony Ginsberg, who has been in the US for a quarter century, met with political movers and shakers in Washington to understand what Pretoria must do to avoid the massive job losses that would accompany a proposed 30% Trump Tariff to be implemented in two months. The successful financial services entrepreneur explains it starts with appreciating the radical mindset change in Washington: Capitol Hill is now all about structurally transforming the US's economic path. To do this it has adopted a commercial-first mindset and a determination to reverse China's soft wins which is has enjoyed for decades. He says countries which appreciate deal-making is the US's new diplomacy, have sent A-Teams to Washington, eschewing politicians for business-heavy, highly educated and globally-sussed patriots. He points to the example of Tanzania's Ambassador, former WEF Africa head Elsie Kanza, as one of those “running rings around” her counterparts and wracking up big gains for her country. Ginsberg spoke to BizNews editor Alec Hogg.

Send us a textI am truly excited about this new segment brought to ya' by Ochsner's Childrens' Hospital! Milk-Bank Miracles with Dr. Harley Ginsberg will shine light on what the NICU is and what hospitals do to keep our little, itty bitty nuggets alive! It really is miraculous.  Dr. Ginsberg is the founder and medical director of Mothers' Milk Bank of Louisiana at Ochsner Baptist. He has written chapters for medical textbooks on neonatology and has published scientific medical articles in the New England Journal of Medicine, the Journal of Perinatology, and Clinics in Perinatology among others. Dr. Ginsberg's professional interests include the use of donor human milk to prevent neonatal intestinal disease as well as the role of human milk in infection prevention.  I am blown away by this opportunity to partner with him and open a window for our audience to learn more not only about his Mother's Milk-Bank but also the guided hand to learn about the NICU! (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.)To learn more about this go to: www.ochsner.org_______________________________________________________________________________________________Then later we welcome New Orleans Council Member Lesli Harris to hear about what our city is doing to combat our homeless crisis. I met Council Member Harris one hot and blazey summer afternoon and since then, she has graced our show with her smile and passion for our city. I was so inspired by her devotion in this area of SO MANY areas to focus on. I learned by our interview that over 200 individuals have been rehabilitated through the "Home For Good Program" (https://homeforgoodneworleans.org)                                        Over 1,000 individuals have been taken off the street and ARE GIVEN recourses in all aspects of life; not to only get them off the streets, but to give them dignity, confidence and motivation to get back up and make the next day better than the last. I wish you could see Council Member Lesli Harris' eyes when she presents the raw data, stats and numbers that really are jolting. There were a couple of topics that we didn't see quite eye to eye, but that is what civil dialogue is and unfortunately has been lost in our country for some time now.  I came to her with urgency because of a situation that happened with me and my family in the Marigny a couple of months back. It startled me, and I felt helpless. I don't like that feeling, ESPECIALLY when my babies are with me.  My fear is that if the homeless numbers don't fall, the Governor will come in without warning and sweep the city before the city council, mayor, police chief etc. can do one thing. I am encouraged by the newly released nola.com article that showed Council Member Lesli's vision. IS WORKING. And that bottom line is all I truly worry about. Her candor, smile and authenticity won me over from the beginning and I am still living for it. THANK YOU COUNCIL MEMBER HARRIS! Read the article I spoke about here,  Lesli Harris: New Orleans' homeless efforts are workingThank you to our family of amazing sponsors! He served as both the Section Head of neonatal medicine at Ochsner and the Medical Director of the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Ochsner Baptist Medical Center from 1989 until 2021. Dr. Ginsberg managed the team at Ochsner that took care of babies during Hurricane Katrina. Currently he is Medical Director of the NICU at Ochsner Kenner Medical Center. Dr. Ginsberg is the Founder and Medical Director of Mothers Milk Bank of Louisiana at Ochsner Baptist and is a member of the Standards Committee for the Human Milk Banking Association of North America. He has written chapters for medical textbooks on neonatology and has published scientific medical in articles in the New England Journal of Medicine, Pediatrics, Journal of Perinatology and Clinics in Perinatology. Fully accredited by the Human Milk Banking Association of North America, Mothers' Milk Bank of Louisiana at Ochsner Baptist was Louisiana's first human milk bank and the 24th nonprofit milk bank in the United States. Preterm infants are at risk for a condition called necrotizing enterocolitis, which results in inflamed intestines, bacterial infection and damage to the colon and intestines. Without proper care, the infant may die.Pasteurized donor human milk helps offset these potential dangers. Unfortunately, some mothers of preterm infants cannot produce their own milk. That's where Mothers' Milk Bank of Louisiana steps in.As of August 2020, Louisiana provides Medicaid coverage for using pasteurized donor human milk in a hospital. In 2022, Louisiana legislators approved inpatient and outpatient coverage for pasteurized donor human milk. Listen as Dr. Ginsberg and I dive into the Milk bank of Louisiana and hear the powerful impacts it has on our community and state! Go to https://www.ochsner.org/services/mothers-milk-bank-at-ochsner-baptist to learn more or to make a donation today!______________________________________________________________________________________________Then later we welcome back DIRTY DOGS! Anthony Ginsberg, CEO of GinsGlobal Index Fund, recently spoke with Steve Darling from Proactive to discuss the structure, performance, and strategic advantages of the GinsGlobal Tech Megatrend ETF. He highlighted three core strengths of the fund: its equally weighted structure, international diversification, and targeted exposure to high-growth technology sectors such as AI, robotics, cloud computing, and cybersecurity. Unlike traditional Nasdaq-style funds that are often dominated by a few large-cap stocks, the Tech Megatrend ETF avoids over-concentration, with its largest holdings representing only about 9% of the total portfolio weight. The fund also offers broad international exposure, with 60% of holdings based in the U.S., 10% in China, and approximately 20% across broader Asia. This balanced approach extends across eight key subthemes, including digital entertainment, gene therapy, and social media. The ETF has delivered a 17% return over the past year, with strong performance from companies such as BYD and Alibaba. Ginsberg noted that major mergers and acquisitions in the tech sector, including Microsoft's $72 billion Activision deal and Google Cloud's expansion into cybersecurity, are further driving momentum. He also pointed to reshoring trends that are benefiting automation and AI-driven businesses, positioning the fund to capitalize on these market shifts. In terms of valuation, Ginsberg emphasized that the ETF maintains an average price-to-earnings ratio of 18 to 19 times future earnings, which he considers reasonable compared to historical tech market bubbles. Ginsberg concluded by highlighting the increasing role of AI in digital entertainment and the ongoing convergence of major tech trends within the ETF's portfolio. With its diversified, forward-looking investment strategy, the GinsGlobal Tech Megatrend ETF continues to present a compelling opportunity for investors seeking exposure to the next wave of technological innovation. #TechMegatrendETF, #AnthonyGinsberg, #FourthIndustrialRevolution, #AI, #Cybersecurity, #CloudComputing, #SocialMedia, #FutureCars, #Robotics, #InterestRateCuts, #Diversification, #GlobalHoldings, #Nasdaq, #NIO, #BYD, #P/ERatios, #TechInvesting, #StockRebalancing, #MarketTrends#invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews

C.O. Bigelow president Ian Ginsberg on unlocking profitable pharmacy retail: 'You have to create a want, not a need'

For New Yorkers, C.O. Bigelow is an institution.  “There's something about the [Bigelow] apothecary that emotionally appeals to people,” Ian Ginsberg, president, pharmacist and third generation owner of C.O. Bigelow, told Glossy. “Everybody, no matter how young or old you are, has some memory about going to the apothecary and the pharmacist telling you what to do. That's where I started [when I joined the family business four decades ago]. I started focusing on what happens when you walk in the door.” Opened in 1838, C.O. Bigelow is a mainstay in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of New York City and touted as the city's oldest apothecary. To wit: The original Kiehl's apothecary opened 14 years later in 1851.  C.O. Bigelow is known as a go-to for well-heeled New Yorkers, NYU students, tourists and neighborhood locals. Its lore includes customers like Sarah Jessica Parker and the late Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, who purchased her iconic headbands in the shop, according to C.O. Bigelow.  “It's not always about what you buy, it's about how you feel when you're there,” said Ginsberg. “I always say we have to be in the want business, not the need business. The minute we're in the need business, we're dead.”  His family has built more than a pharmacy and retail. The company also has an eponymous beauty brand made in partnership with Bath & Body Works, formerly Limited Brands. The products range from makeup to body care and currently sell in the Greenwich store as well as through Bath & Body Works, Bloomingdale's and Revolve, among other retailers.  The company also sells its wares direct to consumers. They include the namesake beauty line and the diverse curation found in store. Its stores offers luxury brands like Westman Atelier and Augustinus Bader, prestige offerings from RMS Beauty and Caudalie, and masstige products like Avene and Bioderma.  “You can't just put stuff on shelves anymore,” Ginsberg said. “Anybody can find unique things and put them on shelves, but it's about making people feel good -- that's more important now than ever before. People talk about experiential retail, but our experimental retail is just person-to-person communication, helping people, explaining things to them and answering questions and showing them how to use things in whatever category it is. That's the secret sauce.” The company also owns a distribution company called Bigelow Trading that imports and distributes small brands into the U.S., for its own retail and others. Marvis toothpaste is among those brands. In addition, Bigelow Trading has a thriving hotel amenities business that works across hospitality brands like Aman, Nobu Hotel and Soho Grand Hotel, among others.  But perhaps the most surprising thing about C.O. Bigelow is the role of the pharmacy in the overall business.  “People sometimes say to me, ‘You have this great beauty business because you have this strong pharmacy business,” Ginsberg said. “But they have it all wrong. [The pharmacy business is supported by the beauty business].”  As previously reported by Glossy, 2024 was a bad year for American drugstores, and 2025 could end up even worse. Just last year, CVS closed 586 locations, Rite Aid closed 408 stores, and Walgreens closed 259 locations, which has created “drugstore deserts” across the U.S. As a pharmacist and third-generation pharmacy owner, Ginsberg also shared his perspective on a buzzy topic in the industry: pharmacy benefit managers, which act as middlemen between drug companies and consumers. PBMs are currently under investigation by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission for alleged pricing abuse, according to reporting by Reuters in January,  Paired with razor-sharp drug margins, pharmacist staffing shortages and more issues native to pharmacies, the industry is struggling. Ginsberg joined the Glossy Beauty Podcast to discuss the company's secret sauce behind its thriving brick-and-mortar business and the role beauty retails plays in it.

In this episode, Natalie and I discuss the importance of psychedelic therapy and her personal passion for this work. We cover the history of MDMA's criminalization, the complexities of the FDA's decision, and the split between MAPS and its public benefit corporation, Lycos. Natalie sheds light on why the FDA remains cautious and how psychedelic therapy may or may not fit into the Western medical model. Finally, she offers guidance for aspiring psychedelic therapists on the most valuable trainings and credentials to pursue. Natalie has led MAPS' Policy and Advocacy Department, co-developed their Health Equity Program, and now champions the ethical integration of psychedelics into mainstream culture. In this episode, we're diving deep into a topic that many upper elementary teachers grapple with—how to help students with decoding multisyllabic words. I'm excited to be joined by Marnie Ginsberg, the founder of Reading Simplified, a research-based program that gives educators practical tools to support struggling readers. Marnie is here to share some incredibly simple yet powerful strategies that you can start implementing right away. Whether your students are stumbling over three-syllable words or longer, these tips will help them gain the skills they need to become confident readers.Decoding single-syllable words is tough enough, but when students are introduced to multisyllabic words, the challenge escalates. As Marnie explains, multisyllabic words build upon the decoding skills students develop early on, but with extra complexities. We'll talk about how these multi-step processes can overwhelm students who haven't mastered automaticity with one-syllable words and why addressing this gap is critical for their reading fluency and comprehension. Many teachers focus heavily on comprehension, but Marnie reminds us that if students struggle to decode, that's where we need to begin.During our conversation, Marnie also introduces specific activities like "Switch It", "Read It,", and "Write It" which help refine students' letter-sound knowledge and build the automaticity needed for decoding longer words. You'll hear how you can incorporate these strategies into your classroom, even if you're not a phonics expert. Marnie's practical tips will give you the tools to support students who are falling behind, empowering them to become fluent, confident readers capable of tackling multisyllabic words with ease.Join us in the Stellar Literacy Collective Membership: stellarteacher.com/join!Sign up for my FREE private podcast, the Confident Writer Systems Series, here!Sign up for my FREE Revision Made Easy email series here!Follow me on Instagram @thestellarteachercompany. For democracy to endure, democratic institutions and values must be passed from one generation to the next. And there's plenty of good news about how Gen Z—the youngest and most diverse generation of voters—is engaging in politics. Young people are participating and voting at levels at least equal to previous generations. But there are reasons for concern too: Many Americans are growing up in civic deserts, without access to political associations or other forms of collective action. Many of Gen Z are struggling to find a stable political home in the two-party system. And Gen Z is also experiencing a mental health crisis, which is interrelated in complex ways to declines in associational life and political alienation. Going Rogue With Caitlin Johnstone

Weep, sisters, for the child with the blown-out skull, for the other child burned alive, for the limp, lifeless, tiny bodies and the piles of unrecognizable carnage. Weep, brothers, for the cackling politicians, for the apathetic westoids, for the human drones chanting "We love Joe" and the DNC attendees covering their ears to avoid hearing the names of murdered children in Gaza. Weep for this fraud-faced civilization, this microplastics civilization, this OnlyFans civilization, this Moloch civilization Ginsberg wrote about in Howl, this civilization with enormous forced grins  over plates full of shredded children in selfies with AOC and Tim Walz. Weep with careless abandon. Weep til the sobbing wrings you out like a sponge. Weep with head back, screaming sloppy and snot-nosed, ribcage splayed open to the heavens and human heart beating unguarded and unhidden. There are no answers in the weeping. There are no solutions in the tears. There is only the release of something that needs release, and an act of sacred solidarity, and an act of unauthorized humanity, and the small, private victory of having gone one more breath without being assimilated by the machine. Margaret Hoover discusses what it will take to ensure a secure and accurate vote count in 2024 with three experts: Democratic Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, Republican election lawyer Ben Ginsberg, and David Becker of the nonpartisan Center for Election Innovation and Research. Ahead of Firing Line's “Counting the Vote” documentary–premiering on PBS on Aug. 27–the experts address how election administration has changed since the contested election of 2020 and the challenges that could arise this fall. Becker, Benson, and Ginsberg break down the proven best practices for election systems, assess an unprecedented wave of pre-election litigation, and explain why they are so confident Americans' votes will be counted accurately. The experts also rebut Republican claims about noncitizens voting and push back against conspiracy theories amplified by Elon Musk accusing Democrats of “voter importation.” Support for “Firing Line for Margaret Hoover” is provided by Robert Granieri, Henry & Vanessa Cornell, The Fairweather Foundation, and Al & Kathy Hubbard. On Friday's Mark Levin Show, the attack on America from within continues with Democrats attacking the Supreme Court and Conservative Justices like Thomas and Alito while ignoring corrupt conduct from liberal justices like Sotomayor and Ginsberg. Radical leftists are trying to destroy this court because of the Dobbs decision and are using the media to spread their hate. Also, Iran is on the doorstep of having a nuclear weapon thanks to the Biden Administration. Iran more than likely is already capable of nukes, but they are waiting until after the election in November to announce it to help Biden. Later, Mark speaks with Washington Free Beacon journalist Adam Kredo to discuss Iran's Ties to the 'Palestine Chronicle' and the Biden Administration's lack of reaction to this news. Finally, Mark is joined by 2024 presidential candidate and Governor Doug Burgum to talk about the Marxist green energy policies under the Biden Administration which will result in brownouts and blackouts, as well as his background in business and time as Governor of North Dakota.
