Today, Hunter was joined by three guests from Hennepin County's Adult Representation Services. As has been discussed multiple times on the show, many of the clients that walk into a public defender office have legal needs outside their criminal case. Whether it is in eviction court or family court, our clients often do not have access to counsel in these critical cases. ARS was created to fill the gaps in the access to counsel to ensure people have a fighting chance in their civil legal issues.   Guest: Jeanatte Boerner, Director of Adult Representation Services, Hennepin County, Minnesota Jessica Ryan, Principal Attorney, Hennepin County, Minnesota Terrance Hendriks, Principal Attorney, Hennepin County, Minnesota   Resources: ARS Website https://www.hennepin.us/en/adult-representation-services       Contact Hunter Parnell:                                 Publicdefenseless@gmail.com  Instagram @PublicDefenselessPodcast Twitter                                                                 @PDefenselessPod www.publicdefenseless.com  Subscribe to the Patreon www.patreon.com/PublicDefenselessPodcast  Donate on PayPal https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=5KW7WMJWEXTAJ Donate on Stripe https://donate.stripe.com/7sI01tb2v3dwaM8cMN Trying to find a specific part of an episode? EASY LISTENING DEP'T.: The great difficulty in trying to convey what happens with this president and this presidency is that Donald Trump is a profoundly addled and frivolous person who doesn't care or understand the things he says or does, but he is also the president of the United States, so that the things that he says and does are real and serious. Trying to start from the fact that he is the president and impose a kind of sanity and meaning on his behavior that isn't there while addressing his absurdity and irrationality as supplemental detail to be euphemized or paraphrased creates a perniciously false picture. What the Times did in today's paper is to frankly start with the incoherent rambling and then to assemble a sort of collage around the serious things it means. Can the FCC Suspend Jimmy Kimmel? Legal Issues Behind the Show's Controversy

Passing Judgment

In this episode of Passing Judgment, Jessica Levinson unpacks the legal issues behind Jimmy Kimmel's temporary show suspension. She explains the distinction between private action by ABC and possible government coercion from the FCC or the President, outlining why the First Amendment generally protects speech from government—not private—actions. Jessica also discusses the limited circumstances under which the FCC could revoke broadcast licenses and what this case means for free speech and media organizations moving forward. Here are three key takeaways you don't want to miss:1. The Suspension and Return of Jimmy Kimmel's ShowJessica Levinson opens the episode by explaining the sequence of events around Jimmy Kimmel's temporary suspension from ABC after a controversial comment in his monologue. She emphasizes that although he has now been returned to air, the legal issues discussed still remain relevant.2. The Role and Limits of the First AmendmentA central theme is clarifying what the First Amendment protects. Jessica explains that the First Amendment limits government action against speech, not actions taken by private entities like ABC. If ABC alone had suspended Kimmel with no government involvement, it would not be a First Amendment issue.3. Government Involvement and the FCC's RoleThe episode explores concerns about potential government overreach, specifically whether statements made by the FCC chair or the President could constitute government coercion. Jessica details how, if the government pressures a private company to take action against someone's speech, First Amendment concerns are triggered.Follow Our Host: @LevinsonJessica

Upstairs, Guerdy tries to focus Lisa on her kids, while downstairs, the women question Jody's priorities and Lisa's choices.Larsa vs. Lisa (Round 100): Once Lisa rejoins dinner, Larsa accuses Jody of “harassment” texts. Lisa fires back that Larsa twists things, and the feud spirals when Marisol exposes Lisa for taking notes on the women. Lisa defends it as smart divorce strategy, but the group sees it as betrayal.Next-Day “Fun”: The women split up—Lisa, Guerdy, Adriana, and Kiki go shopping, while the others paint tiles (mostly penises). Later at Alcázar, Julia shares her wish for the ladies to be godparents, but tension lingers as talk turns to the upcoming Marbella jet ride.Plane Drama Looms: Julia and Marysol confront Lisa about her phone obsession. Lisa refuses to give it up, citing legal matters and her kids. A “phone basket” rule is set, but Lisa storms off, claiming she'll remove herself.Dinner Disaster #3: At yet another dinner, Adriana outs Lisa for unfollowing Marcus—breaking a secret pact. A fight explodes when Adriana calls Kiki “ratchet,” leading to tears, screaming, and chaos. Stephanie storms off in frustration, calling it the third ruined dinner in Spain.Endgame: While some of the women laugh at the absurdity, others are embarrassed by the public spectacle. Back at the hotel, Stephanie, Larsa, Marysol, and Alexia plot seating arrangements for the jet to avoid more explosions. Marisol sums it up with a drink: “This is why I drink so much—so my spirit doesn't break.”Spain may be historic and beautiful, but for the Miami ladies, it's nothing but uncivil in Seville.TakeawaysLarsa seems to be struggling for relevance in the group. The text message drama was ultimately insignificant.Lisa's legal issues are affecting her emotional state.Taking notes during conversations is a new strategy for Lisa. The dynamics of friendship are complex and often contradictory.Cultural insights add depth to the cast's interactions.Private jet etiquette is a source of contention. The group is experiencing too much drama for enjoyment.Adriana's worldly experiences are impressive and noteworthy. The after show reveals deeper insights into the cast's relationships.Support the showhttps://www.wewinewhenever.com/

From Bolton's role in the Trump administration to prior warnings from a federal judge about his handling of sensitive information and why the DOJ under Biden dropped its earlier investigation, Victor Davis Hanson unpacks the full backstory behind the raid on today's episode of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words.” “ When Donald Trump's home was raided on August 9th, 2022, John Bolton spoke out. And he said, ‘Let's not prejudge, you,' basically, you pro-Trumpers, ‘let's just let all the evidence, you know, be seen before we make snap judgments.' Meaning, you know, he's probably guilty. But more importantly, then he said, ‘Donald Trump was just—anything that came across his desk. He saw french fries, he got 'em. He saw classified documents, he did, just because he could.' And then on another occasion, ‘He has no respect for classification. And that's a lie, that he personally classified these.'  So he was very critical of anybody who objected to what he thought was an FBI, legitimate raid on Mar-a-Lago. Now it's ironic. We'll see if he uses the same tropes and themes to protect himself in the way that he blasted Trump about a similar raid.”

Send us a textPodcast Summary: RHOA S16 Reunion Part 1 – “Unfinished Business & Unexpected Apologies”The reunion kicks off chaotically with the cast arriving hours late—Andy is left waiting solo while the ladies lounge and Porsha naps post-procedure. The biggest shocker: Britt Eady chooses not to attend the reunion, leaving the women stunned and disappointed, especially Shamea and Kelli, who were ready to hold her accountable. Drew claims Britt even threatened a lawsuit weeks prior.Andy sets the tone by asking for intentions; Porsha delivers a heartfelt message about healing and being back to herself, signaling she's ready to either close doors or move forward.Cynthia joins the couch and discusses her role as a supportive presence and addresses "hood" commentary from the cast. She gives a quick update on her current relationship and seems mostly unbothered.Porsha breaks down over the loss of her cousin Londi. She opens up about her prenup, her husband being detained by ICE, and confirms she did her due diligence before marrying Simon. Questions arise about Gerald and Simon's friendship and whether Angela introduced her to Simon—tape rollbacks show contradictions and confusion in their timelines.Viewer questions stir the pot. Kelli is accused of being messy when questioning Porsha's marriage motives. Kelli and Porsha debate who was really vulnerable during their divorces. Another viewer calls Porsha out for joking about Angela's husband, which leads to more timeline drama and shady flashbacks.Porsha's living arrangements, finances, and her parenting relationship with Dennis are discussed—Kelli throws light shade, but Porsha holds her ground.Drew stirs tension by saying Porsha's return was a flop, claiming her only storyline was her past with Dennis. The Dennis-Drew rumor resurfaces, which Porsha shuts down. However, she does give Drew props for her music and apologizes for crossing the line on a business front. In a rare moment of vulnerability, Porsha apologizes directly to Drew for meeting with Ralph out of pettiness. The moment is emotional and sincere, with both women in tears. Angela, dry as ever, notes “17 episodes later,” but the apology seems to land well with Drew. Porsha admits she's still healing but trying to take accountability.Support the showhttps://www.wewinewhenever.com/
