Playlist:"My Generation", Patti Smith"A La Mierda", Onda Vaga"House On Fire", Patrick Watson feat. Playlist:The Smiths - Heaven Knows I’m Miserable NowTurnstile - I CAREMk. gee - AlesisThe Strokes - The Adults Are TalkingROSALÍA - A PaléYves Tumor - Gospel For A New CenturyKing Krule - CellularNudozurdo - Ha Sido DivertidoOrville Peck - Buffalo RunBlack Country, New Road - Chaos Space MarineBig Thief - CertaintyWhitney - No WomanGeorgia - 24 HoursJessie Ware - What’s Your PleasureArca - MequetrefeCharli xcx - party 4 uDepresión Sonora - La Ley del PobreDepresión Sonora, Bb trickz - Todo Da IgualAlice Wonder - iii. Canadian singer and composer Patrick Watson has been making records for almost a quarter century – with a cinematic blend of indie rock, cabaret pop, and chamber music that has made him a favorite of film directors and music supervisors. His latest record, Uh Oh, is the result of a pretty big uh-oh moment for a singer: Watson lost his voice. He thought it was broken forever, and wrote a collection of songs and collaborations with other people - voices that he wanted to hear: among them the artists Charlotte Cardin, La Force, Martha Wainwright, and Klô Pelgag. Luckily, Watson managed to get his voice back; he performs in-studio with his frequent collaborator, the singer/songwriter La Force.Set List: 1. Lonely Nights 2. Peter and the Wolf 3. House on Fire
Playlist:Soleá Morente, Marcelo Criminal - Marcelo CriminalLas Ligas Menores - EuropaEl Mató a un Policía Motorizado - Chica de OroMoby - Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?DJ Shadow, Run The Jewels - Nobody SpeakAlabama Shakes - Don’t Wanna FightPatti Smith - Redondo BeachT. What happens when you build a career being a singer-songwriter and then you permanently lose your voice? That's what happened to acclaimed musician Patrick Watson, whose life was completely upended for months due to that traumatic surprise. Without being able to sing his own music, Patrick turned his attention to writing and composing music for other people to sing. He thought he'd never sing again, but after saving his voice using a hyperbaric chamber, he decided to make a record with a variety of singers to help him out. Patrick joins Tom Power to tell the story of how losing his voice became a catalyst for his new album, “Uh Oh,”

Send us a textWhere do documentary filmmakers go to find that historic clip or interview nobody else has? Many turn to the CBC Archives in Toronto. The vast, climate controlled vaults at the CBC Broadcast Centre are home to approximately 1.5 million hours of digitized material. Those restored holdings are drawn from over 90,000 cans of film, 215,000 videos and over 270,000 audio assets. Classic CBC shows such as The Friendly Giant, This Hour Has 7 Days, and Hockey Night in Canada broadcasts dating back to 1952 are among the holdings. Two who oversee the operation are Dan Dimopoulos, Senior Manager, Content Lifecycle, and Ann Cox, Senior Manager, Library Services. They make sure these rare gems are fully restored and searchable for filmmakers from around the world.Every month, thousands of hours of footage are retrieved for reuse. For example, the makers of the Netflix feature “Sunday Best: The Untold Story of Ed Sullivan” found a mid- ‘60s interview with the variety show host conducted by Patrick Watson. Executive producer Margo Precht Speciale says it is the best interview her grandfather ever gave.Other docs recently featured at the Toronto International Film Festival, including those celebrating the Toronto production of Godspell, Lilithfair and “Epic: Elvis Presley in Concert,” all raided the CBC Archives.I admit, as a film collector myself, I kinda nerded out talking to Dan and Ann. Playlist:Wet Leg - pokemonRoyel Otis - good timesBlood Orange, Caroline Polachek - The Train (King’s Cross)Turnstile - LIGHT DESIGNHayley Williams - ParachuteSaint Etienne - Take Me To The PilotKaitlyn Aurelia Smith - GushSudan Archives - Ms. PAC MANCMAT - Take a Sexy Picture of MeCMAT - EURO-COUNTRYCMAT - The Jamie Oliver Petrol StationMilitarie Gun - B A D I D E A KNEECAP - The RecapSabrina Carpenter - House TourThe Beaches - JocelynPatrick Watson, Martha Wainwright - House on FireS Carey - WatercressGuitarricadelafuente - Pipe dreamOliver Sim - ObsessionLCD Soundsystem - Home (Tom Sharkett edit)Mamalarky - Nothing Lasts ForeverMatt Berninger - Bonnet Of PinsFontaines D.C - It’s Amazing To Be YoungEscuchar audio

Arizona O'Neill's art delves into topics derived from her Montreal upbringing and French-Quebec culture, and include the ramifications of gentrification, the vibrancy of music, and the origins of revolt. She has contributed several pieces to The CBC Creator Network, which include Hockey Riots, Period Pieces, and History of Jazz. (or “Can an Artist be Happy?”) was published in November 2022. And her impressive catalogue of illustrations, for publications like National Geographic Canada, includes the 2024 edition of "L'enfant dans le miroir" by Nelly Arcan which features a feminist perspective on the late-author's legacy.
