We have all experienced that distinct, crushing sense of overwhelm. Your calendar is packed, the pressures of parenting and work are mounting, and the constant noise of the world never seems to dim. But it's not just that your life is full - it's that your soul feels heavy. Most of us have simply adopted a cultural norm that is quietly exhausting us, assuming this chronic fatigue is just the price of admission for modern life.   In this powerful message, we dive into Matthew 11:28–30 to uncover a freeing truth: The weight you're carrying might not be the one you were meant to carry. Jesus famously promised that His burden is light, yet that rarely matches our day-to-day reality. By breaking down the specific weights we subconsciously pick up, this sermon exposes how we are mismanaging our souls and offers the ultimate trade-off: swapping our exhausting performance for His peaceful presence.

Send us your feedback — we're listening1 Peter 5:7 — Give Tonight's Worries Somewhere Else to Rest Recorded live from London, England — where faith meets the world in daily prayer and global hope. Charlotte • Perth • Wellington • Manila • Mexico City RELEASE • PEACE • LETTING GO evening prayer for anxiety • Christian prayer to release worry • prayer for peace of mind • prayer after a stressful day  1 Peter 5:7 (NIV) "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." As the evening begins to settle around us, there is a quiet invitation in today's scripture. Not to carry more. Not to try harder. Not to find all the answers before the day ends. But simply to release. Many worries become heavier because we keep carrying them long after they have exhausted us. We revisit them. We analyse them. We rehearse them. And yet they remain beyond our control. Tonight, God gently reminds us that we do not have to hold everything in our own hands. Father, thank You for caring about every detail of my life. Thank You that nothing is too small to bring before You and nothing is too heavy for Your loving care. Jesus, stay close beside me this evening. Help me release the worries I have been carrying. Help me stop replaying situations that I cannot change. Help me trust You with the questions that remain unanswered. Lord, where anxiety has settled into my thoughts, bring Your peace. Where disappointment has found a place in my heart, bring Your comfort. Where uncertainty continues to linger, bring Your reassurance. Across the world, many people are reaching the end of the day feeling emotionally tired and mentally full. From Charlotte to Perth, from Wellington to Manila and Mexico City, may hearts discover the freedom that comes from placing their concerns into God's hands and resting in His faithful care. Jesús, recibe mis preocupaciones y dame Tu paz. Jesus, entrego-Te minhas preocupações e recebo Tua paz. Jesus, inilalagay ko sa Iyo ang aking mga alalahanin. Father, I release today's worries into Your hands. And I receive Your peace for this evening. If you've ever caught yourself staring out a window, daydreaming of cobblestone streets in Paris, sunrises over Bali rice fields, or the quiet serenity of a mountain trail, you're not alone. Wanderlust—the irresistible urge to travel—is more than a trendy hashtag or a clever slogan on a hoodie. It's a deeply rooted part of human psychology.A Journey into the Mind of the TravelerAt 1923 Main Street, we live for that pull toward the horizon. But what is wanderlust, really? Why are some of us always dreaming of elsewhere?Let's take a journey into the mind.Born to Roam: The Science of WanderlustWanderlust isn't just a personality quirk—it's something researchers have studied and even tried to measure. There's a term for the personality trait most associated with travel: “high openness to experience.” Psychologists define this as one of the Big Five personality traits, and it's a strong predictor of someone's love for novelty, adventure and yes—travel.Studies have shown that people who score high in openness tend to:Be more curious and imaginativeSeek out variety and new experiencesBe more tolerant of uncertainty and ambiguityIt's not just about loving travel—it's about thriving on the unknown. There's also a genetic component. A study published in the journal Evolution and Human Behavior suggested a connection between the DRD4-7R gene and a tendency to love exploring. People with this “wanderlust gene” tend to be more risk-taking and exploratory. Not everyone has it, but those who do are statistically more likely to crave far-off places. The Eternal Elsewhere: Is Wanderlust Good or Bad?Like anything, wanderlust has its pros and cons.On the plus side:Travel lovers tend to be more adaptable and resilient.Exploring new cultures fosters empathy and creativity.Experiences (like travel) are known to bring longer-lasting happiness than possessions. But a constant yearning to be somewhere else can also have its downside. If you're always focused on “the next place,” it can be hard to appreciate the present. Psychologists refer to this as destination addiction—the idea that happiness is always “somewhere else,” just out of reach. The trick? Embrace the adventure, but don't lose sight of the beauty in everyday life. (That's part of why we design our graphic tees and hoodies the way we do—to bring a little bit of your favorite places with you wherever you are—including enjoying those memories at home.)The Social Media Effect: Inspiration or Illusion? We all know that the digital age has turbocharged our wanderlust. Your scrolling fingers barely have time to rest before you're seeing someone's photo of Santorini sunsets or Patagonia peaks. But beware, because social media can play a little game of angel/devil:Angel:It fuels inspiration and discovery—introducing places you might never have dreamed of.It creates a global community of like-minded adventurers.Devil:It can create unrealistic expectations (hello, curated perfection). It may lead to comparison fatigue, making us feel like we're missing out.Research from the University of Pennsylvania showed that limiting social media use to 30 minutes per day can reduce feelings of loneliness and FOMO—especially relevant when every scroll seems to showcase another person's passport stamp or sunrise mountain top photo from a faraway land. The key? Let social media inspire your dreams, but not dictate your worth. Are You Wired for Wanderlust?Wondering if you're part of the wanderlust tribe? Ask yourself:Do I get excited by planning trips—even ones I might never take?Do I sometimes feel more “me” when I'm out of my comfort zone?Am I more drawn to experiences than stuff?Do I keep a mental list (or an actual map) of dream destinations?Have I ever picked a hoodie or tee just because it reminds me of a place I love?If you nodded yes to most of those, chances are—wanderlust runs through your veins.Final Boarding CallWanderlust isn't something to be cured—it's something to be celebrated. The desire to travel pushes us to explore, connect and dream. Whether you're planning your next trip or reminiscing about your last, 1923 Main Street is here to keep that adventurous spark alive. Destination rides in the mountains of Colorado can be magical.  Hidden in the mountain town of Nederland, Colorado, sits a treasure unlike any other.  A treasure built and shared by a Vietnam veteran, Scott Harrison. In this deeply moving conversation with Allie Wagner, the Carousel of Happiness Outreach Director and podcast host, we discover how this labor of love has transformed nearly 1.2 million riders. Allie shares fascinating insights about the carousel's unique features – from the meticulously researched animals to the "Somewhere Else" wall where visitors honor loved ones who have passed. She explains the almost magical effect the carousel has on visitors, who often find themselves moved to tears or compelled to share their life stories upon entering. For motorcycle enthusiasts traveling Colorado's stunning Peak to Peak Highway, the Carousel of Happiness offers more than just a charming stop. It provides a rare opportunity to reconnect with childlike wonder and presence – similar to the feeling riders experience on the open road. As Allie beautifully articulates, joy is our birthright as humans, something we intuitively understand as children before life's complexities create distance from that truth.Whether you're planning a ride through the Colorado mountains or simply seeking inspiration, this conversation reminds us of the profound impact one person's healing journey can have on the entire world. The carousel stands as a testament to resilience, creativity, and the transformative power of not delaying joy – a three-minute ride that just might change your perspective on what matters most.Carousel of Happiness podcast CBS On the Road featuring Scott Harrison and the Carousel of HappinessCBS Sunday Morning with Steve HartmanAtlas Obscura feature

When anxious thoughts flood your mind and you feel like you're living in a fog—disconnected from the moment and overwhelmed by “what ifs”—you’re not alone. In today’s devotional, Kelly Balarie vulnerably shares how anxiety hijacked her thoughts even in the middle of everyday moments with her kids. But instead of staying stuck in the spiral of fear, she turned to Psalm 27:1 and found refuge in God's Word:“The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?” We encourage you to pray: “Lord, help me to release what I’m holding onto so tightly. Let me trust that You are my stronghold, my refuge, and my salvation—even when I feel like I’m falling apart.” When our grip on life feels weak, God reminds us: He’s the one holding on tight.Let this be your permission to stop rehearsing worst-case scenarios and instead rest in the truth that God is your Light, your Refuge, and your Stronghold. When we move out of the way, we make way for the Way Maker. Join the Conversation:Have you ever been so anxious that you struggled to be present? What verse has helped anchor you in those moments? Let us know @LifeaudioNetwork or by email. We’d love to hear your story and stand with you in faith.
