BJP on its own has never dislodged any regional party in assembly polls, except the Samajwadi Party in 2017. The converse is also true but without any exception. ----more---- https://theprint.in/opinion/politically-correct/akhilesh-yadavs-challenge-no-regional-party-has-ever-unseated-bjp-government-in-polls/861208/
A Kashmiri Pandit chemist Mohan Lal Bindroo, a Sikh school principal Supinder Kaur and her Hindu colleague from Jammu have been killed in targeted attacks in Srinagar recently. A large number of Muslims too have been killed in such attacks, laid at the door of The Resistance Front, widely believed to be a front of the Lashkar-e-Taiba. Many Hindus who stayed back after the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in the 1990s are scared and have been advised by the authorities to stay inside their houses. An estimated 300 Pandits have left. This is possibly the most serious crisis in the Valley after the BJP Government at the Centre abrogated Article 370 and sliced the state of Jammu & Kashmir into two Union Territories in 2019. In this podcast, we explore the current situation and the possible reasons behind it. Guest: Mohammed Sayeed Malik, veteran journalist Host: Amit Baruah, Senior Associate Editor, The Hindu

From the impact of the pandemic on our labor laws, to the long term impact of the codes on worker rights, we unpack the entire corpus of these laws, and understand their significance. Tune into this episode to learn more about our Labor Laws, and where we stand vis-a-vis worker rights as a country. I was thrilled to speak to Dr. Navyug Gill of William Paterson University on the recent Farmer's protests in India. Over 300,000 participants have locked Narendra Modi and his BJP Government in a stalemate. The Future? Perhaps that of Global Capitalism and its ability to dominate the lives of ordinary people. Should the Farmer's movement fail, nothing will be in the way of Modi from violently re-shaping India in his image of neoliberal Hindutva. The last hope of a democracy by and for the people of India rests on the shoulders of the Punjabi Farmers, refusing neoliberalism and demanding more than mere survival. I discuss all this with Dr. Gill, who truly was one of my favorite guests this year. We discuss the protests, Sikhism, Modi, Global Capitalism and how we can intertwine faith, anti-capitalism and dissent of the status-quo to build new visions for the future. All citizens shall have the right to freedom of speech and expression - Article 19(1)(a), Part III, The Constitution Of India. This same right has been violated by the Uttar Pradesh Police, not once, but twice against the same person, Prashant Kanojia. Jagisha Arora, his partner and journalist says the reason for his arrest, other than being a journalist and a critic of the BJP-Government is that he is a Dalit. She narrates the shocking ordeal of 18 August, 2020 and why being Dalit still matters in modern India. She also opens up on what Prashant will do once he is released, what she is going through at this tragic time and how she will keep fighting for her husband through whatever it takes. Only on this episode of Charcha With The Chichaas.

A stinging report by Wall Street Journal has alleged that the social media giant Facebook deliberately ignored / even encouraged hate content by certain BJP ministers in order to maintain cordial / beneficial ties with the ruling BJP Government. The report claimed that Ankhi Das, a top Facebook India official opposed the taking down of hate content by BJP leaders - to avoid upsetting the ruling party. This was despite the fact that the content posted by these individuals or groups had been “flagged internally for promoting violence”. RTI activist Saket Gokhale also claims that Rashmi Das, sister of Ankhi Das, has ties to the BJP. Many questions have been raised about the algorithms of Facebook as well - that suppress voices of dissent. In this Episode of the Deshbhakt, we look at the backdoor alliance between the social media giant and the BJP and ask an important question: Can Facebook be trusted or are we being fed content to suit a particular political narrative.
