What if one of the most important health crises affecting men today wasn't being caused by aging, but by the environment we live in? In this eye-opening solo episode, Darin Olien investigates the alarming decline in testosterone levels, fertility, and reproductive health among men worldwide. Drawing on decades of research, epidemiological studies, environmental science, endocrinology, and public health data, Darin examines the growing evidence connecting endocrine-disrupting chemicals, microplastics, sleep deprivation, chronic stress, poor lifestyle habits, and environmental toxins to declining testosterone levels across generations. From BPA, phthalates, atrazine, PFAS, and microplastics to sleep quality, circadian rhythms, cholesterol metabolism, cortisol regulation, and natural testosterone-supporting strategies, this episode explores what may be one of the most underreported public health issues of our time—and what men can do to take control of their health today.     What You'll Learn Why testosterone levels have been declining for decades The startling research on global sperm count decline How endocrine-disrupting chemicals interfere with hormone production Why BPA and phthalates may disrupt testosterone synthesis The role of atrazine, PFAS, and environmental toxins How chronic stress diverts resources away from testosterone production Why sleep may be the most important testosterone intervention The connection between cholesterol and hormone production How microplastics are being found throughout the human body The surprising relationship between statins and testosterone levels Natural lifestyle strategies that support healthy hormone production Practical steps to reduce environmental exposure and improve health     Chapters 00:00:00 – Welcome to SuperLife 00:00:33 – Sponsor: Fatty15 and cellular health 00:04:17 – The testosterone collapse explained 00:04:51 – Testosterone levels have been declining for decades 00:06:03 – Global sperm count decline and accelerating trends 00:07:02 – Why treating symptoms misses the root cause 00:07:27 – The hidden public health crisis 00:08:03 – Why low testosterone isn't just about aging 00:09:12 – Why hormone health affects longevity 00:09:53 – Low testosterone and increased mortality risk 00:10:35 – Testosterone's role in metabolism and cardiovascular health 00:11:27 – Endocrine-disrupting chemicals and hormone disruption 00:12:44 – BPA and its effects on testosterone production 00:13:59 – Phthalates and their impact on hormone pathways 00:16:00 – Glyphosate, atrazine, and pesticide exposure 00:17:07 – PFAS and reproductive health concerns 00:17:55 – Environmental toxins and population-wide effects 00:18:11 – Sponsor: Shakeology 00:20:02 – Cholesterol and hormone production 00:20:53 – Chronic stress and cortisol dominance 00:21:45 – Actionable solutions begin 00:21:56 – Why sleep is essential for testosterone production 00:23:07 – How sleep deprivation rapidly lowers testosterone 00:23:21 – Light pollution and circadian disruption 00:23:41 – Foods and nutrients needed for hormone health 00:24:23 – Microplastics and testicular tissue 00:24:53 – Statins and unintended hormonal consequences 00:25:39 – A practical testosterone sovereignty protocol 00:25:48 – Water filtration and reducing toxic exposure 00:26:13 – Eliminating plastics and fragrance chemicals 00:26:35 – Why organic food matters 00:26:45 – Sunlight and vitamin D 00:27:05 – Magnesium, omega-3s, and iodine 00:27:26 – Pine pollen and natural androgen support 00:28:01 – Tongkat Ali and ashwagandha 00:28:48 – Strength training and lifestyle interventions 00:29:10 – Habits that naturally support testosterone 00:29:27 – Darin's approach to healthy aging 00:29:37 – Plants, herbs, and common sense 00:29:51 – Reclaiming your health and sovereignty 00:30:00 – Final thoughts and closing message     Thank You to Our Sponsors Fatty15: Get an additional 15% off their 90-day subscription Starter Kit by going to fatty15.com/DARIN and using code DARIN at checkout. It may be a reflection of the modern environment itself—one increasingly saturated with endocrine-disrupting chemicals, chronic stress, poor sleep, circadian disruption, and toxic exposures. While many of these forces feel outside our control, the encouraging reality is that many of the most powerful interventions remain accessible: improving sleep, reducing toxic load, eating whole foods, getting sunlight, managing stress, exercising regularly, and reclaiming responsibility for our health. The goal isn't fear. The goal is awareness—and action."     Bibliography/Sources: The Decline — Primary Research Levine, H., Jørgensen, N., Martino-Andrade, A., et al. (2022). One who obtains the treasure of virtues from God and keeps Surat paired with the virtues of God by remaining in spiritual tranquility. O Nanak! Blessed is the merchant of that Naam who has the support (form) of 'Naam' in the presence of SatGuru. You look at any human being with concentrated attention, no one understands without controlling the mind (ie, no one's work is done); The beggars (even the saints) are left after making pilgrimages, (thus) this mind is not killed. The human being who is in the presence of SatGuru keeps his mind attached to the True God (because of this) his mind is dead while he is alive (ie, he is saddened by Maya even while working in Maya). O Nanak! The filth of this mind descends in such a way that (the ego of the mind) is burnt with (SatGuru's) word.O my holy brother! Just a little (me too) chant God's Name. O God! Make the adornment of God's name, and wear the garment of forgiveness, such adornment is pleasing to dear God, adornment of love is pleasing to God. Day and night remember God's Name, in an instant all sins will be cut off. The Gurmukh on whom God has mercy, he (from the world) wins (by) meditating on God

In this episode of the Dean's Chat Learning Series, Dr. Johanna Richey welcomes Dr. Bela Pandit for an important discussion on malignant melanoma of the foot and ankle in recognition of Melanoma Awareness Month. Together, they explore why skin cancer deserves far more attention within podiatric medicine and how clinicians can avoid missing potentially life-threatening lesions. While melanoma is often associated with sun-exposed areas like the back or shoulders, the conversation highlights the unique and often overlooked risks involving the feet, soles, nails, and lower extremities—areas podiatrists examine every day.Dr. Pandit shares personal experiences from clinical practice where seemingly routine cases, including chronic wounds and presumed foreign body reactions, ultimately turned out to be melanoma. Join us as we emphasize how critical it is to keep melanoma in the differential diagnosis, especially for wounds or lesions that fail to heal as expected. Tune in, as we discuss the powerful impact of early detection, including moments where timely biopsy and referral likely saved a patient's life.Listeners are also guided through the major types of melanoma, including superficial spreading melanoma, nodular melanoma, acral lentiginous melanoma, and lentigo maligna, along with the classic ABCDE criteria for identifying suspicious lesions: asymmetry, border irregularity, color variation, diameter changes, and evolution over time. We discuss the importance of taking a thorough history, including prior skin cancer diagnoses, sun exposure, family history, and changes in lesions over time.Throughout the episode, we reinforce that podiatrists are uniquely positioned to detect melanoma early because we routinely evaluate areas patients often cannot see themselves. The conversation serves as both a practical educational review and a reminder that careful observation, thoughtful questioning, and timely biopsy can have life-saving consequences. The episode concludes with a call for clinicians and patients alike to take suspicious skin lesions seriously, practice good sun protection habits, and remember that early detection remains the key to improving outcomes in melanoma care.#podiatry #podiatricmedicine #podiatricdermatology#skincancerawarenessmonth #skincancerawareness #skincancer #melanoma #melanomaawareness#PICA #BakoDx

Bhai Sukha Singh Shahid Mari Kambo converted of his own free will and his own family drugged him, cut his sacred Kes and killed his infant daughter. Master Tara Singh converted and his father threw him out of the house. In this episode of Beyond the Indus, host Tushar Shetty sits down with Vice Admiral R.B. Pandit, former Commander-in-Chief of India's Strategic Forces Command and a veteran flag officer of the Indian Navy, to assess the maritime consequences of the Iran conflict and the long-term shifts reshaping the Indian Ocean's strategic order.Drawing on four decades of operational and strategic experience, Vice Admiral Pandit examines why the Hormuz crisis represents a watershed moment for global naval doctrine. They discuss the legal and strategic implications of the sinking of IRIS Dena and why the horizontal escalation of the conflict into the Indian Ocean sets a dangerous precedent for the rules-based maritime order. Pandit also examines India's evolution as a resident security guarantor of the Indian Ocean, the challenge of underwater domain awareness in an era of covert infrastructure attacks, and how India's MAHASAGAR initiative positions itself as a cooperative alternative to China's Belt and Road strategy across the Indian Ocean littoral.

Greg meets with mega, super, return guest Phra Pandit to discuss Buddhist teachings regarding sex, a conversation prompted by recent scandals involving women extorting monks. Phra Pandit explains that while sexual scandals within the clergy are actually quite rare, they occasionally happen, sometimes because young men are dumped into the monastery by their families rather than choosing the life themselves. He outlines the strict regulations for monks, noting that there are four cardinal rules that cannot be broken. Breaking the primary rule against having sexual intercourse with any human or animal results in immediate and permanent expulsion from the monkhood. Next, Phra Pandit explains that secondary offenses, such as lustful touching or speaking, require a confession to a senior monk and a twenty-day penance. The conversation then shifts to everyday Buddhists, with Phra Pandit clarifying that laypeople are guided by five precepts, which simply advise against wrongful or harmful sexual conduct. However, he notes that individuals on spiritual retreats taking eight precepts must refrain from all sexual activity. Phra Pandit explains that the reasoning behind monk celibacy is practical. Because monks are supported by the lay community, they are expected to pursue enlightenment, and giving in to desires simply clouds the mind. Ed then expresses his regret at missing the interview, which Greg recorded the day prior. The hosts then compare the Buddhist perspective on sex to Western and Christian views. They conclude that while Western religions often frame sex around concepts of guilt, the Buddhist approach does not view sexual failings as uniquely wicked, but rather as equal to failing any other precept. It's been a while, but one of our favorite semi-regular guests is back! Bangkok Podcast's official Buddhist correspondent, Phra Pandit, welcomed Greg at his temple to talk about amulets, talismans, and Buddhist relics - and what ties them all together. The burning question Greg had was - if seemingly every third temple claims to have a piece of Buddha's body - what exactly happened to the poor guy when he died? Phra Pandit explains the history behind the idea of Buddhist relics and what Buddha said about them, as well as their link to Sri Lanka and how a wooden mannequin brought to life kicked the whole thing off. Greg and Phra Pandit also dive into the topic of amulets and talismans, including the famous Jatukham craze of 2006, and discuss what - if anything - makes one amulet worth more than another one. Does it make them more effective? Do people act differently if they think they're more effective? They finish with a fascinating discussion about how stories and tokens can be a powerful tool in helping us solidify and understand abstract concepts such as marriage, death, and even architecture! As always, the podcast will continue to be 100% funded by listeners just like you who get some special swag from us. And we'll keep our Facebook, Twitter, and LINE accounts active so you can send us comments, questions, or whatever you want to share.

Greg interviews Phra Pandit about Buddhist monks and politics.  Greg begins by framing the issue around the recent tumultuous nature of politics around the world. Could Buddhist calmness provide an answer?  Well, Phra Pandit begins by making clear that under the rules of the Sangha as interpreted in Thailand, monks are definitely not permitted to become politicians or really work for the government in any capacity.  In fact, Thai monks in general are not supposed to even express opinions about politics as monks are seen as above the worldly nature of politics. Phra Pandit does note however that not every country is the same. In Sri Lanka, monks are notoriously political, forming their own parties, and participating in marches and protests. Phra Pandit explains that different cultures have resulted in the rules governing monks being interpreted in different ways.  In Thailand, technically the King is the head of Thai Buddhism, and the King of course is above politics.  Perhaps this role model helps to explain the Thai interpretation of the rules. Phra Pandit does explain, however, that famous politicians have become monks upon leaving politics, as a symbolic way of atoning for their sins. The two continue with more examples of how monks interact with the government without getting directly involved in political affairs.

Dr. Manish Pandit is a physician who lives in the United Kingdom. He arrived in England in the mid 1990's and trained as a surgeon (FRCS General Surgery and FRCS ENT) before switching career streams to Nuclear Medicine and obtaining a Masters with a Merit from Kings College in the process. He is an alumnus of BJ Medical College in Pune. He has published on many research topics within the fields of medicine and is a senior tutor for medical students in England as well as regional director for training in his medical speciality.Dr Manish has had an active interest in Indian history and spirituality since he was 21 years old, which is also when he met his Guru, Nakhate Maharaj. However he considers that spirituality (and alignment with so called dharma) is mostly useless unless closely moving with humanity and compassion on the ground in real life. It is easy for those who have not been miserable in life and not been engaged in the service of others for decades to be dismissive of any other sentient being's troubles as mere “thought” or “nonsense”. Medicine provides him that impetus as nothing moves humans more than the sight of others suffering. He maintains an extensive personal library of books on Indology. He has studied the dating of the Mahabharata sufficiently enough to be considered as an expert on dating the Mahabharata using ancient Indian astronomy and is considered as a student of Dr Narahari Achar (a physics professor from Memphis who dated the Mahabharata to 3067 BCE).He is also a director, scriptwriter and cinematographer, who is known for making films on topics which very few within the broadcast and non-broadcast media like to touch. He has made several films including the acclaimed Krishna: History or Myth, Mumbai: Pani Mafia, SaiBaba: An Indian Jesus, Bharat ek Chetna and perhaps his best known film “The Ishrat Jahan Conspiracy (2014)”.His films can be divided into two principal categories, those which pertain to religion and those which pertain to politics. Apart from his feature length documentaries, he also makes short films which can be seen on saraswatifilms.org.

This is the Catchup on 3 Things by The Indian Express and I'm Ichha Sharma.Today is the 30th of December and here are the headlines. In view of the statewide bandh called by two Punjab farmer unions, security has been amped up with several groups of farmers gathering at key locations on highways and railway stations at 6.30 am onwards. The bandh call was given in support of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal who has been holding a hunger strike for more than a month seeking the implementation of 13 farm demands. Over 150 trains, including Vande Bharat, were cancelled today and all educational institutes are to remain closed. However, emergency services will remain active across the state. The war of words over former prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh's funeral intensified today, with the Congress saying that senior party leaders did not accompany his family “out of our deference to the privacy of the family”. This comes a day after Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri of the BJP said on Sunday that Congress leaders did not accompany Dr Singh's family when the ashes were immersed in the Yamuna river while BJP leaders were present. Dr Manmohan Singh passed away on Thursday at the age of 92. Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal announced his fifth promise today ahead of the Assembly polls in Delhi, the Pujari Granthi Samman Rashi Scheme, with an eye on Pandit and Sikh voters. Under this scheme, the AAP has promised that if the party returns to power, it will give Rs 18,000 per month to all pandits and pujaris working in temples and to granthis in gurdwaras across the city. The AAP has so far announced four welfare schemes targeting specific categories of voters, including women, Dalits and senior citizens. ISRO will demonstrate for the first time its ability to bring together and join two satellites in space today. The SpaDeX mission, which is the Space Docking Experiment, will launch at 10 pm today, as ISRO's workhorse PSLV rocket lifts off from the first launch pad of the Sriharikota spaceport. For the first time, an ISRO mission will carry a biological experiment. The CROPS experiment (Compact Research Module for Orbital Plant Studies) will see the germination of seed and sustenance of a plant up to a two-leaf stage. The fourth stage of the launch vehicle will be used later as a platform to carry out 24 experiments, including several by startups. The investigation into the Jeju Air plane crash that killed 179 at Muan International Airport in South Korea is underway. Initial findings show a malfunction in the landing gear, which a bird strike may have caused, could have led to the plane's belly landing. Experts have said that multiple factors could have resulted in the plane crash, among which are design flaws at the airport. Questions have been raised over the length of the runway at the airport. According to the official website, the runway is 2,800 m long. This is considerably shorter than runways at international air hubs. This was the Catch Up on 3 Things by The Indian Express.

On part 2 of 2 Greg continues his interview with returning show favorite, Phra Pandit on the Buddhist interpretation of the Seven Deadly Sins of western religion. Without wasting any time they pick up where they left off last week and dive right into it with sloth, one of Greg's favorites. Defined in Buddhism as ‘torpor' or ‘indolence' Phra Pandit explains that in Buddhism this trait tends to hinder meditation, and can lead to someone being withdrawn and apathetic, which of course is not something any good Buddhist should do. Also includes a sly critique on Millennials from Phra Pandit. Next up is wrath, defined as uncontrolled feelings of anger, rage and hatred. Phra Pandit gives a personal anecdote where he was approaching this emotion with a taxi driver while dealing with an empty stomach, but notes that anger tends to be delusionary while leading you astray if you are not in control of your emotions.  Envy is next, characterized as a sad or resentful covetousness of the possessions of someone else. Noting that jealousy and envy are two different emotions, Phra Pandit makes a connection to people using this emotion when they think that life isn't fair. Finishing off with Pride - considered the ‘most demonic' of all sins - Phra Pandit comments that SOME pride is healthy - pride in your accomplishments, your kids, your hard work - but when it crosses over into arrogance is when things can get out of hand.  Don't forget that Patrons get the ad-free version of the show as well as swag and other perks. Greg interviews returning show favorite, Phra Pandit on the Buddhist interpretation of the Seven Deadly Sins of western religion. After a brief introduction explaining Phra Pandit's current (temporary) abode in Toronto, Canada, the guys get down to business. First, Phra Pandit notes that in his work with highly varied groups of people, there is often agreement on ‘good' and ‘bad' qualities in people. That being said, he notes that not every religion would necessarily value each quality equally. Greg jumps in with his favorite sin of ‘Lust,' and Phra Pandit says that ‘improper sexual conduct' is prohibited in the Five Precepts that Buddhists are expected to follow. He discusses how the term ‘improper' can be interpreted, with an emphasis on the harm being caused in a particular case, rather than specific rules. Next up is ‘Gluttony,' practically the theme of the Bangkok Podcast. Interestingly, Phra Pandit discusses the issue of overweight monks in Thailand and points out that the precepts actually allow monks to eat sugary snacks in the evening, while most people think that monks are prohibited from eating entirely. However, monks are prohibited from ‘overeating,' which is parallel to the most basic meaning of ‘gluttony.' The two mean continue with a couple more of the sins on this Part One of a two-part series. Don't forget that Patrons get the ad-free version of the show as well as swag and other perks.
