“A Murder in Hollywood” - the dark story behind the bright lights of Tinseltown. Before there was Jodie Foster and Brooke Sheilds, there was Judy Turner. You may know her by her stage name, Lana Turner. Discovered at a malt shop in LA in her early teens and thrust before the cameras, she seemed to have it all―a thriving film career and the kind of fame and fortune that most people could only dream of. But she was soon physically abused by directors and studio honchos and sexually preyed upon by the matinee idols of the era, including Errol Flynn, Fernando Lamas and even Ronald Reagan. But that wasn't enough. When Lana began dating mobster Johnny Stompanato, thug for the infamous west coast mob boss Mickey Cohen, her personal life became violent and unpredictable. Eventually, the physical and emotional abuse became too much to bear, and Lana attempted to break it off with Johnny―with disastrous consequences - Stompanato ending up dead on Lana's bedroom floor, with her young daughter, Cheryl, claiming to have plunged a knife into him in an attempt to protect her mother. The subsequent murder trial made for the biggest headlines of the year, its drama eclipsing every Hollywood movie. New York Times bestselling author Casey Sherman pulls back Tinseltown's velvet curtain to reveal the dark underbelly of celebrity, rife with toxic masculinity and casual violence against women which took place in Hollywood in the 40s and 50s, long before modern day's MeToo Movement. A Murder in Hollywood transports us back to the golden age of film and illuminates one of the 20th century's most notorious true crime tales. Return guest, Casey Sherman, joins me now on Murder Most Foul.

Today on the Rarified Heir Podcast we are talking to Ike Eisenmann who you will likely remember from television, commercials and film. From Double Mint Gum ads to Escape from Witch Mountain to Fantastic Journey, Ike was about as in demand a child and young adult actor was in the 1970s and 1980s. What you may not know about Ike however, if you didn't grow up in Houston, Texas is that Ike's dad Albert was the creator and host of a massively popular local children's show, Cadet Don which ran for close to a decade from 1959 to 1968. We talk to Ike about quite a few topics including his Pop Culture Retro Podcast, local programming on television that simply doesn't exist anymore, the influence the Cadet Donshow had on children (including two celebrity brothers) as well as the role NASA played in the show. We also hear from Ike about what it was like about becoming a child actor and the salvation it presented for him. You've heard of Stage Mothers? We hear about his Stage Father, who was somewhat difficult and overly aggressive guardian who often shared his own head shots with casting directors while Ike auditioned for a role. Ike was incredibly generous to talk about the dark times as well as the folly. What folly you ask? Disco dancing with Brooke Shields and Lisa Whelchel at Disneyland? Or how about working with ex quarterback playboy ‘Dandy' Don Meredith on a pilot that never went to series? Regardless, Ike was most insightful and open about growing up the child of a celebrity as well as his own celebrity and you can listen to that now, on the Rarified Heir Podcast. Everyone has a story.

Postpartum depression is a serious illness and we need to talk about it. In fact research shows nearly 20% of women suffer some form of PPD in the US alone. Now a new documentary aims to bring this diagnosis out of the darkness, and into the light to let women know they are not alone. In this episode I talked with Lindsay Gerszt, one of the producers of When The Bough Breaks: A Documentary About Postpartum Depression. It's narrated by Brooke Sheilds who had a very public battle with PPD herself. The film follows Lindsay's experience with postpartum and we meet several women who have experience PPD in varying degrees. I say this in the podcast and I'll write it here: This is a powerful movie for new moms. I can't tell you how many women I know who say they experienced some form of postpartum depression after the birth of their child. It's a very real mental health issue that needs to be taken as seriously as a cancer diagnosis. And Lindsay says that's the goal of this film. I was very moved by this film. The women sharing their stories are so raw, and unfiltered. I never experienced PPD but after seeing this my heart goes out to women who have. And you can bet I will be more vigilant in watching for signs of it with my friends. This movie explores everything from the "baby blues" to infanticide, where a parent takes their own child's life within the first year. Several women give their accounts of taking their own child's life, or wanting to, while experiencing postpartum depression. This illness is that serious and needs attention. Lindsay is so courageous for telling her story. She opens up in the film about her struggle to find help through numerous treatments and medications. We follow along as she explores western, holistic, and eastern medical treatments. I'll let you watch to see how it all turns out for her. But I can tell you that some of the women in the film like celebrity moms Carnie Wilson and Aarti Sequeira talk about what happened when the "fog" lifts, and they are able to recover from their PPD. When The Bough Breaks is available now on iTunes. Please watch it and share with anyone you know who might be suffering from postpartum depression. Also the film's producers have put together a helpful list of resources where moms can read about the signs of PPD and contact someone for help. Find out more at whentheboughbreakdsfilm.com.

I'm under the weather in Minnesota. Even though my throat is sore, my heart is true. Positivity is learned. Anti-inflammatory pills for my ankle because I tripped over a stump. When people don't do their job, people fall down and break their ankle. If we want it, it has two possible outcomes: we will not get it or we will. That is not the case. Turn that frown upside down. Your talking makes you feel better. High Intensity Caffienated Barbie. They had nothing and now they're Tanya Tucker. Some people are destined to be where they are because of their God-given ability...or beauty. This world is a puzzle you bought at Wal Mart for 99 cents: it's not hard. I'm talking not to the emotionally freakish. Practice the art of control. With our hands we drive, put money into a slot machine, use a laptop or desktop. Look at your hands. Flip them over. Repeat. These are your power tools and you are your own repairman. Call the repairman to fix your happiness. It's scary that we can fix our own problems. You can get Vitamin K from the sun. Going back to college as an adult. What's it like to see youth and beauty on a college campus and know it's been sucked from you. Let's think of ourselves as little homeless children. They don't get toys, and they're still happy with nothing. I can go to college old. You can wear a black cloak and stand in the back of the room near a wall as if the cloak was hanging on a wall. We want to believe we cannot do things. It's so scary to get yourself out of your scared-ass cocoon. Actors have the hardest job in the world. And actor is not Brooke Sheilds or Jada Pinkett Smith. An actor is auditioning for dinner theater and becoming the man who sells chicken at the opening of act 2 of Guys and Dolls. Jerry Orbach had a difficult childhood. He became a Jehovah's Witness because he never celebrated his birthdays. You can get your Chakras aligned. The things we want are worth the wait. Do it if not for he only reason that it can be done. Prove. Me. Wrong. You are a homeless child who has the capacity to live without toys. Subscribe in Itunes Subscribe with RSS myspace.com/howdoyou feelpodcast Produced by Mark Baratelli
