Frank Gifford was one of the great football broadcasters. A staple on Monday Night Football with Howard Cosell and Don Meredith, it's fair to say that most people remember Gifford for calling a game. But how many remember him for what he did on the field, or even know that he was one of the best to ever play? As a halfback and flanker, Gifford combined to score 77 touchdowns during his Hall of Fame career with the New York Giants. An all-around star, he also kicked (on occasion), played in the defensive backfield where he also scored a touchdown, and he holds the NFL record for most touchdown passes in a career by a non-quarterback with 14. Yes, Gifford could burn you in so many ways. His career at the University of Southern California was also spectacular. In fact, two years prior to his enshrinement into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Gifford was enshrined into the College Football Hall of Fame. His No. 16 is retired by the Giants as well. On this episode of SFH, Chris Willis, Head Researcher at NFL Films, returns to the show for a wonderful discussion about on eof the game's all-time greats - Frank Gifford.

Between 1966 and 1971, the Dallas Cowboys was one of the winningest teams in the NFL. Yet the team is best remembered for the games they lost then the games they won. During a five year period, the Cowboys won five consecutive division championships, played in two NFL title games and a Super Bowl but lost each of them in dramatic fashion, mostly on the last play of the game. In this edition of the Historically Speaking Podcast we will take a look back at those Cowboy teams that featured several Hall of Fame players and led by a all-time great coach but seemed unable to win that one big game. At least not until the 1971 season. Later in the episode we will send a shout out to the quarterback of those teams. Although not in the Hall of Fame as a player, Don Meredith was one of the most popular players in Cowboy history and used that popularity to become one of the most famous football color analysts in NFL History. Today on the Rarified Heir Podcast, we are talking to Colin Cosell, grandson of legendary broadcaster and American cultural icon, Howard Cosell. Now, if you are born in the United States, you will definitely know Howard Cosell. But for those outside the US, that name night not be as well known. But in the 1970s and 80s, Cosell was at the Zenith of where celebrity, sports and pop culture mixed. Famous for his “Tell it like it is” manner on air, Howard Cosell was as famous for his calls of the boxing, football, baseball & the Olympics while also being remembered for his voice, his wit and his sometimes prickly manner. He got as much hate mail as he got praise and he was often at the center of controversy for his comments on air as well as his opinions off air. For many of us, Howard Cosell will be remembered as the man who broke the news to America that John Lennon was shot and killed which we watched Monday Night Football. For others he will be remembered for  as the  butt playful jokes from one of his best friends Muhammad Ali. This was a man who famously parlayed his fame as a sportscaster to television, film and the larger pop culture zeitgeist of the latter half of the 20th Century as you will soon hear. Talking to Colin, we get to see another side of Howard, a grandfather who doted on his family and young Colin. We discuss how the family all played board games together, the many dogs they grew up with and how he would see his grandfather every week or two growing up. Howard was a very present grandfather who could also pull some strings and arrange a meeting with a world famous athlete one day and hang with you eating bagels the next. Colin was a jovial guest who told  stories about the other Saturday Night Live Starring Howard Coselland how Cosell impacted the late night comedy juggernaut SNL we know today. We talk Monday Night Football with Frank Gifford and ‘Dandy' Don Meredith as well as the time  Jon Bon Jovi came over to talk. This is the Rarified Heir Podcast and everyone has a story.

ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Dallas Cowboys turned the heat way up in the NFC playoff race on Sunday night with a 33-13 victory over their fiercest division rivals. DALLAS COWBOYS SUPERBOWL? CHIEFS HUGE BLUNDER! NFL WEEK 14 2023 DALLAS COWBOYS SUPERBOWL? CHIEFS HUGE BLUNDER! NFL WEEK 14 2023 DALLAS COWBOYS SUPERBOWL? CHIEFS HUGE BLUNDER! NFL WEEK 14 2023 Led by quarterback Dak Prescott, the Cowboys never relinquished their lead and stifled the Philadelphia Eagles' offense all night. Both teams moved to 10-3 on the season and are in a virtual tie with the Niners for first place in the NFC. But if the season ended this week, the Eagles would settle for a wild-card spot in the latest playoff standings as the No. 5 seed, while the Cowboys are now in the No. 2 spot. Here's a full breakdown of each team's performance: Dallas Cowboys Is it time to consider the Cowboys among the best in the NFL? Sunday's win at least temporarily has them in first place in the NFC East with four games to go. However, if the Cowboys and Eagles both win their remaining four games, Philadelphia would claim the division based on a tiebreaker. That story remains to be written, but on Sunday, the Cowboys' defense dominated the Eagles, holding them to just two field goals while forcing three takeaways and coming up with a critical fourth-down stop. Philadelphia's only touchdown came on a Prescott fumble. Dallas' offense might not have been as finely tuned as it has been over the past month-plus, but Prescott threw two more touchdown passes and the run game was able to wear down the Eagles' front. Oh, and rookie kicker Brandon Aubrey just kept doing what he has done all year: making field goals. He made four more (60, 59, 45 and 50 yards) and tied the team record for most consecutive makes at 30. The Cowboys have won five in a row and have reached double-digit wins for the third straight year. It's their longest such streak since they achieved the feat in six straight seasons from 1991 to '96. Those Cowboys won three Super Bowls in that stretch. These Cowboys might have just put themselves in that discussion. QB breakdown: Prescott put up two more touchdown passes for the seventh straight game, tying Tony Romo for the longest single-season streak in team history. Don Meredith had a 12-game stretch with at least two touchdown passes over the 1965 and '66 seasons. But this was not as smooth a night as Prescott has normally had, especially with his accuracy. In the past seven games entering Sunday, Prescott had completed at least 65.8% of his passes. Through three quarters, he completed 58.1% of his passes (18 of 31). It's only the third time this season Prescott has completed less than 62.5% of his passes in a game. Promising trend: Bryan Anger was forced to punt for the first time since Thanksgiving, following a span of three games and 18 possessions. Before Sunday, his last punt came in the third quarter of the Cowboys' win against the Washington Commanders. The Cowboys scored on their final three possessions in that game and did not punt on 11 drives against the Seattle Seahawks (eight scores). The Cowboys scored on their first four possessions against the Eagles before Anger took off the cobwebs with a 48-yarder in the third quarter. Silver lining: At 33, Stephon Gilmore is not showing his age. After DK Metcalf lit up the Cowboys last week, Gilmore kept him in check in the second half. Against the Eagles, Gilmore forced an A.J. Brown fumble on the Eagles' first possession of the second half. At the end of the quarter, he corralled Brown and DeVonta Smith on consecutive third- and fourth-down plays, which the offense than turned into a Brandon Aubrey field goal to up the lead to 30-13. -- Todd Archer Next game: at Bills (4:25 p.m. ET, Dec. 17)  @espn   @GmiasWorld  Social: Twitch-http://twitch.tv/GmiasWorld Facebook-http://www.facebook.com/GmiasWorld X-https://www.twitter.com/GmiasWorld Donate:https://streamlabs.com/gmiasworld Instagram-https://www.instagram.com/GmiasWorld GmiasWorld Merch: https://gmiasworld.myspreadshop.com Background Music (Exclusive) by @ZaneAlexanderNC #MADDEN24 #MADDEN24ULTIMATETEAM #GMIASWORLD

You live in the NFL. – Al Davis, Raiders Owner White Oaks of Football – 5 Coaches who revolutionized how the game is played Paul Brown's Operating System – responsible for so many of the ways football teams are run, from headsets, to play calling & playbooks, to scouting systems  West Coast Bill Walsh – created an offensive philosophy by passing early to get the lead, and running late to keep the lead Pete Rozelle (former NFL Commissioner) propelled football into the #1 sport thru Television, starting with Monday Night Football in 1970 Scouting for players is about elimination, never about finding. Need a Profile to know what you are looking for.       Guest: Michael Lombardi is a former general manager and three-time Super Bowl-winning executive, having spent thirty-five years working for the New England Patriots, San Francisco 49ers, the Oakland Raiders, and the Cleveland Browns, and has the distinction of the being the only person to make it to the Super Bowl with legends Bill Walsh, Al Davis, and Bill Belichick in a single career. He is the best-selling author of Gridiron Genius and appears on the top-ten sports podcast GM Shuffle in addition to hosting the daily show The Lombardi Line on the VSIN podcast network. He has appeared as a draft analyst and on-air talent for CBS Sports, Showtime, and the NFL Network, among others. He has written extensively for numerous print and digital media platforms, including NFL.com and Sports Illustrated.      ABOUT THE BOOK Title: FOOTBALL DONE RIGHT: Setting the Record Straight on the Coaches, Players, and History of the NFL  By Michael Lombardi “A master class in the history, philosophy, and art of football from a man who has seen it all.” —Bill Belichick, Head Coach of the New England Patriots   From “Monday Night Football” to Super Bowl Sunday, the NFL is a dominating force in the lives of millions of fans who tune in and passionately cheer for their favorite teams. And when the games are over, the conversation is just getting started. Who's the greatest player of all time? Which coaches truly shaped the game we know and love today? What was the most unforgettable game? Why is professional football such an undeniable part of our culture?    In FOOTBALL DONE RIGHT: Setting the Record Straight on the Coaches, Players, and History of the NFL (Running Press, September 5, 2023) former NFL general manager and three-time Super Bowl winner Michael Lombardi sets the record straight on these questions and more, taking readers on the ultimate journey through the NFL's history to present his calls on the greatest players and coaches the sport has ever seen. Both a full history of the sport and a comprehensive re-imagining of the Football Hall of Fame to honor every deserving athlete and coach, FOOTBALL DONE RIGHT will change the way you watch, discuss, and debate the gridiron.    “The stories in Football Done Right reveal who made the NFL into the greatest league on Earth. Michael Lombardi has had success at every level of the league and this love letter to the game is a must read.”  —Pat McAfee, Host of The Pat McAfee Show on ESPN and Former NFL Player   “For the past 40 years, Michael Lombardi has had a front row seat to football history, working for and advising legendary men such as Bill Walsh, Al Davis and Bill Belichick. Now he has packaged all the greatness he observed into this gift of a book.” —Adam Schefter, ESPN Senior NFL Insider       Notes:   Seg 2   ‘You don't work in the NFL. You live in the NFL.' – Al Davis, Raiders Owner   ‘You can't connect the dots looking forwards…but backwards.' – Steve Jobs, Apple   ‘There is winning, and there is misery.' – Coach Bill Parcells   Canton, Ohio – the NFL is formed in 1920 with 11 teams     Mike Lombardi worked in the NFL 20+ years. He worked with some of the NFL grades like Bill Walsh, Al Davis and Bill Belichick. He agrees with Al Davis that you definitely live in the NFL. It is dark when you go to work and it is dark when you get home.   NFL started in 1920, but it wasn't until the late 1950s that it was on TV and started to become a very popular national game. From the 1920s to the 1950s college was more popular than the NFL. People knew their college teams and football was more of a regional sport.   The Five White Oaks of the NFL These are 5 coaches that Mike has identified that helped to modernize the game. The white oak phrase comes from the movie The Shawshank Redemption. The tree is a symbol of redemption with the deepest branches, like a coaching tree in the NFL.   Red Blaik and the Lonely End Coach Red Blaik coached at Dartmouth in the Ivy League and then Army. He is known for the lonely end, or spreading out the wide receivers and using the whole field to play. He coached in the 1940s in the 1950s.   He had 2 very famous assistants at Army - Tom Landry coaching the Defense and Vince Lombardi coaching the offense. Landry went on to coach the Cowboys and Lombardi went on to coach the Green Bay Packers. Both won Super Bowls and are in the Hall of Fame.   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earl_Blaik   https://goldenrankings.com/footballshortstoryLonelyEnd.htm   Clark Shaughnessy and the T Formation He coached in the 1940s through the 1960s and is known for modernizing the single wing formation and how players lineup in formations. He created the first real modern passing formations with an emphasis on the quarterback, not the running back being the most important player.   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clark_Shaughnessy https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1990-12-25-sp-7207-story.html   Paul Brown's Operating System Paul Brown of the Cleveland Browns, and later the Cincinnati Bengals He created the operating system and really turned coaching into a profession with specialties. He taught a culture of leadership and instruction.   His most famous assistant was Bill Walsh who will go on to the Hall of Fame as the coach of the 49ers and creator of the West Coast offense which was started under Brown with the Bengals   So many of the modern things we see with football were created by Paul Brown - like the headset for the coaches to call in the play to the quarterback, how play-calling was done and the playbook. He also organized the system for scouting, how you pick players, 40 yard dash and how to profile players.   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Brown https://operations.nfl.com/gameday/technology/technology-and-the-game/   https://www.daytondailynews.com/sports/ohio-state-tcu-one-hall-fame-coach-left-mark-buckeyes-horned-frogs/oXTclNvnXMkadYBk4zSdWJ/       Seg 3 Coaches continued   Sid Gilman and the Long Ball Sid Gilman was an assistant with Red Blaik   Worked with Fanatical Francis Schmidt of Ohio State wanted to pass all the time, but not accepted in Ohio   Developed numerical passing game, passing and play design   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sid_Gillman   https://www.footballxos.com/sid-gillman-need-know-man-throw-forward-pass/     West Coast Bill Walsh West coast offense was a philosophy based on ball control offense Pass the ball early to score, run the ball later to keep the lead Y motion passing game, QB footwork, and timing of routes Script plays to start game Horizontal passing game, the nickel and dime pass with high percentage throws to get the ball to the receiver in space, so then they can run after the catch   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Walsh_(American_football_coach)   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Coast_offense https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1087386-football-101-breaking-down-the-west-coast-offense       TV & the Power of the Brand of the NFL TV in the 1970s, there were 3 channels. The NFL Commissioner, Pete wanted to get one national game airing weekly. He contacted all three networks and eventually struck a deal with ABC for Monday night football. Howard Cosell was the fire brand polarizing host.   At the time bowling was the Monday night event, and football ended that. Miller Brewing was a regional brand who advertised on Monday Night Football and become a major national beer brand.   Scouting Scouting is all about elimination, never about finding. You have to create a set of criteria for players, a profile of the player you want. Just like the FBI creates profiles for criminals. You look for those traits on your profile list.   You know what you're looking for and have a system for finding that player. You eliminate the players who don't fit the profile to whittle it down and find the right player. It's not random or chaotic but an organized system of picking players.   What are you looking for in a QB? Per Mike, the QB has to have instincts and can play the position. Also needs to be a leader and have a work ethic. The QB must be the hardest worker on the team. With those instincts the quarterback has to see what others don't see on the field. Good quarterbacks are born with these instincts.         Seg 4 – Interview Replay from early 2023 Clip from - BRT Entertainment – Sports Business w/ Rick Horrow, Aliens & X Files w/ Nick Pope, + Hollywood w/ Corbin Bernsen  - BRT S04 EP09 (171) 2-26-2023   ABOUT RICK HORROW Rick Horrow, one of the pioneers who has shaped the sports industry since 1972, has brought together over 100 industry leaders with insights on the history and future of the industry in his new book, The Sport Business Handbook: Insights from 100+ Leaders Who Shaped 50 Years of the Industry, published by Human Kinetics and now available at Amazon.com and other bookstores. They want to attract big sporting events like golf tournaments, business conventions, the Super Bowl, college bowl games, or an Amazon shipping site. This has a huge economic impact for a city, plus it gives it constant media and PR when events are located at that city. For example Phoenix is hosting the Super Bowl, and phoenix gets mentioned hundreds of times in a week on TV or thousands, and millions on the Internet and blogs. It is very difficult to buy the type of PR that you get from media coverage on the big events. This is why cities like Miami, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Fran, Vegas and Phoenix are always being talked about is destinations. There is a lot of coordination involved along with public investment to get these major events at a city. The governor is involved, county people, and the mayor who usually takes the lead. Cities have departments of economic development specifically for these tasks. It requires often a vote from the public, as well as public investment. What is going to be the ROI on having an event. What type of tax revenue do you get from travel, visitors, and hotels. On top of that there is community pride, so then people want to move to that city. Rick is the editor of the sports handbook, and had numerous sports figures write a chapter, and also Coach K wrote the forward. He worked with Jerry Colangelo, Paul Tagliabue former NFL commissioner, Ryan Anderson of ASU fame, and Derek called of the baseball Diamondbacks. Sports, sporting events and even events around sports have become a CTV. An example of this is the NFL draft or the NFL combine. Sports transcends TV, and becomes a worldwide global event. Radio city music Hall in New York used to host the NFL draft every year. They let that deal lapse and now the NFL draft is a traveling tour every year. NBA free agency, NFL free agency, has made these sports year-long events. People talk about the trades and the draft often in the off-season. In 2010 it was a major TV event on ESPN called the decision when the LeBron chose the Miami Heat in free agency.   Full Show: HERE           Seg. 1 – Pete Rozelle and the History of TV & the NFL   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pete_Rozelle Alvin Ray "Pete" Rozelle (/roʊˈzɛl/; March 1, 1926 – December 6, 1996) was an American businessman and executive. Rozelle served as the commissioner of the National Football League (NFL) for nearly thirty years, from January 1960 until his retirement in November 1989. He became the youngest commissioner in NFL history at just the age of 33. He is credited with making the NFL into one of the most successful sports leagues in the world.[1][2] During his tenure, Rozelle saw the NFL grow from 12 teams to 28, oversaw the creation of large television-rights deals and the creation of Monday Night Football in 1970, oversaw the 1970 AFL–NFL merger and the creation of the Super Bowl, and helped the NFL move from a twelve-game schedule to a sixteen-game schedule. By the time of his retirement, many people considered him the most powerful commissioner in sports.[3] He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1985.       History of the NFL on TV https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_National_Football_League_on_television     Later in 1955, NBC became the televised home of the NFL Championship Game, paying $100,000 to the league. The 1958 NFL Championship Game played at Yankee Stadium between the Baltimore Colts and the New York Giants went into sudden death overtime. This game, since dubbed the "Greatest Game Ever Played," was watched widely throughout the country and is credited with increasing the popularity of professional football in the late 1950s and early 1960s. CBS began to televise selected NFL regular season games in 1956. By 1959, big-market teams such as the Bears and Giants had all their games televised, but small-market ones like the Packers and 49ers still did not. Upon becoming NFL commissioner, Pete Rozelle worked to ensure that every team got all its games on TV.   Super Bowl 1 The first AFL-NFL World Championship Game was played on January 15, 1967 between the NFL champion Packers and the AFL champion Chiefs. As CBS held the rights to nationally televise NFL games and NBC had the rights to broadcast AFL matches, it was decided that both would cover that first game. The next three AFL-NFL World Championship Games, the initial Super Bowls, were then divided by the two networks: CBS broadcast Super Bowls II and IV while NBC covered III.   Monday Night Football ABC also agreed to televise one regular season game per week on Monday night. ABC aired its first edition of Monday Night Football on September 21, 1970. MNF pushed the limits of football coverage with its halftime highlights segment, occasional banter from Howard Cosell and Don Meredith, and celebrity guests such as John Lennon, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bill Clinton. During its 36-year run on ABC, Monday Night Football consistently ranked among the most popular prime time broadcasts each week during the season.   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heidi_Game The Heidi Game or Heidi Bowl is the name given to a 1968 American Football League (AFL) game between the Oakland Raiders and the visiting New York Jets. The contest, held on November 17, 1968, was notable for its exciting finish, in which Oakland scored two touchdowns in the final minute to win the game 43–32. However, a decision by NBC, the game's television broadcaster, to break away from its coverage on the East Coast to broadcast the television film Heidi caused many viewers to miss the Raiders' comeback.     https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/how-much-broadcast-networks-depend-sports-1235143456/ How Much Sports Matter (or Don't) to Network Viewership Fox and NBC got more than a quarter of their primetime audience this season from live sports, while ABC and CBS are less dependent. 5/2022 Fox is on pace to finish third in total viewers among the broadcast networks this season, with an average primetime audience of about 4.7 million viewers. The network can thank its various sports rights packages — the NFL and Major League Baseball chief among them — for that position. Stripping out sports from Fox's primetime ratings for the season would put the network at under 3 million nightly viewers — 2.96 million, to be precise. Fox is something of an outlier among its fellow broadcasters, Nielsen data from the last two seasons show. NBC also owes a sizable portion of their viewership to sports, while ABC likes to tout its viewership independent of it. CBS occupies something of a middle ground. Nonetheless, the outsized effect sports can have on network audiences speaks to why rights to such programming have skyrocketed in recent years. Today on the Rarified Heir Podcast we are talking to Ike Eisenmann who you will likely remember from television, commercials and film. From Double Mint Gum ads to Escape from Witch Mountain to Fantastic Journey, Ike was about as in demand a child and young adult actor was in the 1970s and 1980s. What you may not know about Ike however, if you didn't grow up in Houston, Texas is that Ike's dad Albert was the creator and host of a massively popular local children's show, Cadet Don which ran for close to a decade from 1959 to 1968. We talk to Ike about quite a few topics including his Pop Culture Retro Podcast, local programming on television that simply doesn't exist anymore, the influence the Cadet Donshow had on children (including two celebrity brothers) as well as the role NASA played in the show. We also hear from Ike about what it was like about becoming a child actor and the salvation it presented for him. You've heard of Stage Mothers? We hear about his Stage Father, who was somewhat difficult and overly aggressive guardian who often shared his own head shots with casting directors while Ike auditioned for a role. Ike was incredibly generous to talk about the dark times as well as the folly. What folly you ask? Disco dancing with Brooke Shields and Lisa Whelchel at Disneyland? Or how about working with ex quarterback playboy ‘Dandy' Don Meredith on a pilot that never went to series? Regardless, Ike was most insightful and open about growing up the child of a celebrity as well as his own celebrity and you can listen to that now, on the Rarified Heir Podcast. Everyone has a story.

11/17/2021 Passed Ball Show. John opens the program by expressing his excitement for the near completion of his broadcasting studio, which will have some decorations up in time for his next broadcast scheduled for tomorrow. He then hits a "Top Ten" topic when he questions society's obsession with dragging people's names down because of their popularity regarding the DUI of Duke Basketball player Michael Savarino. John explains his point of view that Paolo Banchero was nothing more than a passenger in the car driven by Savarino and there is a public attempt to destroy Banchero because of his guilt by association. Had Banchero not been touted as... as much of a star, the police likely would not have charged him. If they had probable cause, than any passenger in a car driven by a drunk driver should be guilty as well, and John proves that is not the case. John then expresses his concern that the New York Mets are behind the other 29 MLB teams in regards to their interest in upgrading their team. John explains why it is imperative that teams that are expecting to compete in 2022 be as active early on as they can and the Mets cannot identify their needs without having a new GM in place. John adds the expiring CBA on December 1 is the reason that many high profile free agents will likely be signed by then. John then talks about the MLB Awards finalist, a system that he believes is not necessary. John lauds the original Monday Night Football broadcast team of Howard Cosell, Don Meredith, and Frank Gifford (Keith Jackson during season one) and how they turned the weekly game into a National event. After mentioning how watered down MNF has been during the past 20 or so years, he feels the Manning broadcast has the ability to revitalize what has been sagging ratings. Finally, John laughs off the take of the Mile High altitude in Denver helping Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts' completion percentage before calling out whether there really was a legitimate person that actually said that.

Howard Cosell was one of the most recognizable and controversial figures in American sports history. His colorful bombast, fearless reporting, and courageous stance on civil rights captured the attention of listeners everywhere. No mere jock turned "pretty-boy" broadcaster, the Brooklyn-born Cosell began as a lawyer before becoming a radio commentator. In "telling it like it is," he covered nearly every major sports story for three decades, from the travails of Muhammad Ali to the tragedy at Munich. Featuring a sprawling cast of athletes such as Jackie Robinson, Sonny Liston, Don Meredith, and Joe Namath, Howard Cosell also re-created the behind-the-scenes story of that American institution, Monday Night Football. Cosell's endless complexities are brilliantly explored in this haunting work that reveals as much about the explosive commercialization of sports as it does about a much-neglected media giant who should be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Don also talks about life after 50 and shares how he's silenced limiting beliefs, revived old dreams, and expanded his life in many ways.    We Discuss: Finding meaning and purpose in our lives after retirement The importance of expanding as we grow older and not allowing our life to become stale An overview of using a Delaware Statutory Trust (DST) as an exit strategy for property owners Who is and isn't a good candidate for a Delaware Statutory Trust The sacrifices that we make in life when we are tied down by obligations and doubts Finding the secret sauce to self-discovery and exploring our interests   For the full show notes visit: www.ChangeItUpRadio.com

Today we discuss facing challenges head-on and learning how to overcome them, whether they are in business, relationships, health, or our overall introspection. I have two great guests today that share their journeys along with the time, effort, and energy that led them to bring their ideas, dreams, and visions to fruition and share them with the world. Don Meredith, who among many things is an author, artist, actor, and financial advisor, has been faced with many challenges in his life. He shares powerful insight on the importance of planning on our own self-sabotaging that can take place during our path to success, and discusses strategies for living an outstanding life. Rick Carlton, Founder of SevaChild International, started his remarkably successful non-profit organization about eight years ago with virtually no money, no prior experience, and very few resources. He shares how the organization is now making an impact on the lives of many young children in India by protecting them from disease and supplying them with essential nutrition. We Discuss: Tapping into solutions to problems rather than accepting them as limitations Why some people can cope with the ups and downs of life easier than others Asking new, powerful questions to transform every area of our lives Addressing both our empowering and disempowering thoughts, desires, and choices  Encouraging ultimate success through deep introspection, planning, and setting an intention The importance of consistently taking care of our mind, body, and overall health How we can start planning for our own self-sabotage and success Collaboration and the power of having a team of encouraging people Actionable secrets and strategies for living an outstanding life Retracing our footsteps back to the dreams and ideas that fell by the wayside Finding the courage to meet life's challenges with the ability to conquer them How the SevaChild organization came to fruition and the powerful impact it's making Embracing our failures and learning how to appreciate the lessons that they bring Visit:  VoicesofCourage.us

Tread Perilously corrects an error by finally taking a look at the Supertrain pilot, "Express to Terror." Noted industrialist Winfield Root's wish to create an atomic powered transcontinental train service comes to fruition with the maiden voyage of Supertrain. It has a disco, a gym, a salon, a pool and a weird babyman for a concierge. Not that any of this matters to Mike Post (guest star Steve Lawrence), a junior agent trying to secure a role for his boss's client (special guest star Vicki Lawrence). He also owes 40 large to Big Ed back in Los Angeles and someone may have put a hit on out him. Will he survive the Express ... to terror? Also guest starring Don Meredith and Fred "The Hammer" Williamson. Sarah Madden and Seth Linker join Erik and Justin to experience the majesty of Supertrain. All fall over themselves to talk about the raw sexual magnetism of weird babyman Dave Noonan (Patrick Collins). Justin learns about Jon Peters' secret origin and the movie Shampoo. Seth defines the word "barbicide." Passenger Jack Fisk (Don Stroud) easily wins Most Valuable Character thanks to his suspenders, comb-over and constant cigar. Erik cannot keep the name "George Hamilton" in his mind. Sarah keeps the gang on the tracks even as the Supertrain itself tries to fly off them.

There is no denying that sexual assault of any and all types continues to be a cancer upon our societies. Governments of all stripes wax poetic about real change in the way these crimes are investigated, prosecuted and punished. So where is the change? The only number that goes down consistently is the percentage of assaults reported to authorities. Victim support organizations report of ever increasing numbers of survivors and reluctance to trust the police, the courts and our governments to fix this societal issue. The judicial system is supposed to be unbiased and informed on all criminal matters. Former Federal Court judge Robin Camp and Nova Scotia Provincial judge Gregory Lenehan demonstrate this is not necessarily the case. Law enforcement is supposed to respect complainants and deliver proper investigations. Formal complaints against police demonstrate this is not consistently done. Governments claim to want to stop the culture of sexual assault. Male Liberal MPs are accused of harrassment of female NDP MPs, so the internal investigation is confidential. Senator Don Meredith resigns for abusing his position and having sexual relations with a minor. Female politicians walk the walk but scant little progress happens over partisanship aims. Rona Ambrose sat in Privy Council for 9 years, but says now is time to fix things when in opposition and heading out the door. Judges insist they can police themselves. Defense counsel groups insist changes to the Criminal Code are not the answer. Julie Lalonde is an Ottawa-based women's rights advocate and public educator. She works with various organizations dedicated to ending sexual violence, engaging bystanders and building communities of support. Julie has won numerous awards for her work including the Governor-General's Award in Commemoration of the Person Case. The View Up Here welcomes Julie to examine this societal illness.
