ActionSA has filed a formal application under the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA) to obtain the Independent Police Investigative Directorate's (IPID) report on the theft at President Cyril Ramaphosa's Phala Phala farm in Limpopo. ActionSA says it will pursue the matter in the High Court if necessary. Elvis Presslin spoke to Michael Beaumont, ActionSA National Chairperson, to discuss this development

ActionSA has criticized the GNU coalition partner for political opportunism and hypocrisy. Elvis Presslin spoke to Alan Beesley, ActionSA Member of Parliament

John Maytham is joined by Daily Maverick Associate Editor Ferial Haffajee to unpack her latest article on South Africa’s coalition government . Together, they explore three potential scenarios for the country’s Government of National Unity (GNU) – from an uneasy ANC – DA alliance straining under mutual distrust, to a rebooted coalition without the DA that brings in newcomers like ActionSA and Build One South Africa (BOSA), and even a populist partnership with the EFF in the mix.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
ActionSA has raised concern over South Africa's R3.45 billion expenditure on 115 foreign missions in 2023/24, calling it excessive and unfocused. According to a parliamentary reply, the Department of International Relations spent R950m in Africa, R900m in Asia and the Middle East, R813m in Europe, R465m in the Americas, and R325m on multilateral missions. ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba spoke to Elvis Presslin to discuss the party's concerns

The ANC is set to meet with a DA delegation TODAY, in the continiuing effort to break the deadlock over the 0.5 percentage point VAT increase that some parties, including the DA, which is the second biggest party in the government of national unity (GNU), are opposed to. The ANC says it is pushing for a formal, rules-based agreement to legally bind parties to support future parliamentary motions with the ultimate aim of stabilising the coalition government and avoid future fallouts. The ANC has already met with several parties including the PAC, ActionSA, BOSA, UDM , IFP and the EFF. Talks with the Freedom Front Plus are slated for TOMORROW. It is not clear at this stage whether and when there will be meetings with the MKP. These meetings will mark the end of the week's engagements, with the overall process expected to conclude next week. To discuss this Bongiwe Zwane spoke to political analyst, Dr Levy Ndou

John Maytham is joined by Build One South Africa (BOSA) leader and Appropriations Committee chairperson Mmusi Maimane to unpack the turbulent state of the Government of National Unity. As tensions flare between the ANC and DA over the 2025/26 Budget, especially the controversial VAT hike, Maimane weighs in on whether the DA’s exit signals the rise of a new coalition. With BOSA and ActionSA having helped the ANC pass the fiscal framework, a slimmer GNU 2.0 may be taking shape. Maimane explores what this means for parliamentary accountability, economic reform, and the future of coalition governance in South Africa.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
John Maytham is joined by Dr Gumani Tshimomola, Senior Researcher for the Economic Freedom Fighters, to unpack the legal and political reality behind South Africa’s upcoming VAT hike. He explains the constitutional rules around money bills and criticises the Government of National Unity for creating public confusion. They also explore what this means for struggling households and the future of South Africa’s fiscal accountability.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Herman Mashaba, President of ActionSA, joins John Maytham to discuss the party’s controversial role in helping advance South Africa’s 2025 budget process. This comes after ActionSA’s Alan Beesley introduced a recommendation backed by the ANC and IFP to find alternative revenue sources within 30 days, effectively side-lining the proposed VAT hike. While ActionSA claims it spared South Africans a cost of living blow, critics like the DA accuse it of enabling unchecked ANC spending. Mashaba unpacks the reasoning behind the move, clarifies the party’s stance on the GNU, and explains why he believes ActionSA acted in the public’s best interest.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Craig wil volgende maand Amerikaanse diplomatieke steun aanvra.
Stephen Grootes speaks to Ralph Mathekga, political, social and economic researcher about ActionSA's decision to reject the Budget, citing concerns over the proposed VAT increase.

ActionSA Urges Immediate Intervention as Sinkholes Threaten Lives in Merafong by Radio Islam
Gauteng's SOPA: ActionSA Demands Real Progress, Not Empty Promises by Radio Islam
