GM also plans to drop Apple CarPlay from all its vehicles beginning in 2028. Jill is going to be angry. Still in the first segment, Paul talks about driving the high-performance McLaren GT on the race track. Paul also talks a little about the McLaren lineup and how the sports-car maker's U.S. offerings differ. In the second segment, Paul and Tom welcome Bart Sowa of GTI Energy to the show. Bart talks about fuel-cell technology, and how hydrogen-power is viable option for large over-the-road trucks. Michael R. Drew teaches us how to write books that build credibility, serve your audience, and generate lasting business impact, far beyond bestseller lists. He has spent his career turning ideas into bestsellers. With more than 100 books launched onto national lists and over 1,000 No. 1 titles on Amazon, he's one of the most accomplished book marketers in the industry. Having worked with publishers such as Bard Press, Entrepreneur Magazine, and Thomas Nelson, Michael has mastered the art and strategy of getting books noticed. Today, he helps authors write with purpose, build powerful platforms, and turn their message into lasting influence. Michael has helped launch over 130 books onto major bestseller lists. But his true genius lies in showing authors how to use a book as a business tool, not just a trophy. He breaks down the real meaning of success, how to define your book's purpose, and why the best authors start with outcomes, not words. Key points discussed include: Define your “why”: Start with the outcome you want your book to achieve, then design everything around that. The bestseller myth: Lists don't define success, impact and leverage do. Build before you publish: Create the infrastructure and audience your book will serve. Measure what matters: Identify metrics that reflect transformation, not just sales. Distribution wisdom: When and how to pursue hybrid, traditional, or self-publishing. PR is your job: No one will care more about your book's success than you do. Start before you're ready: Don't wait for perfect writing, get help editing later. This week on Hey Sis, Eat This, Courtney and Whitney chat with Rachel Holtzman, the woman behind more than sixty co-authored books with names like Deb Perelman of Smitten Kitchen, Eden Grinshpan's Tahini Baby, Alicia Silverstone, Tiffani Thiessen, and Robin Quivers. Rachel shares how her path took her from the glossy Elle magazine world to the kitchen at Gramercy Tavern, blending her love of storytelling and food into a career helping others bring their ideas to life. She explains how she captures each client's authentic voice, creates space for vulnerability, and helps authors tell stories that feel personal and true. And then there is Momma Lois. Rachel learned early on that her love of food might come from childhood buffet trips where she perfected the art of a Caesar salad topped with fried calamari. She also credits her mom for her curiosity and drive. Lois is the kind of woman who once decided to learn how to make lattes at Starbucks just to understand the system, and her favorite piece of advice still guides Rachel today: “You can make your life as easy or as hard as you want to.” Pull up a plate and listen in for stories that'll leave you hungry, inspired, and maybe rethinking your next buffet strategy. The book debuted at #10 on the New York Times' Best Sellers list and received glowing reviews around the country. It also won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2015 shortly after this interview. Franklin talks with Doerr, who lives in Boise, about his novel, which depicts the lives of two European children in World War II, children whose lives ultimately intersect in war-torn Saint Malo, France. The town was nearly destroyed by Allied forces at the end of the war. Doerr discusses the book's themes, which include the power of radio during that time period, and the moral choices faced by civilians during wartime. Doerr also talks about what kept him motivated during the decade-long writing process. Originally aired: 07/10/14

In this episode of Money Tales, our guest is John Dinsmore, PhD. Fear of failure can be a powerful motivator. John never intended to become a marketing expert. During college and beyond John was in a rock band called "Fried Moose." He tells us that, at the time, he was so afraid of letting his bandmates and family members down as he pursued a career in music that he threw himself into band promotion and merchandising. That fear-driven hustle accidentally built the exact skills that would later land John his first marketing job and eventually make him a professor who is focused on financial decision-making. John Dinsmore is a Professor of Marketing at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio and author of The Marketing of Debt: How They Get You. He is regularly featured in publications such as Forbes, CIO, CBS Marketwatch and US News & World Report for his market commentary and is a frequent conference speaker at organizations such as the American Marketing Association and the Association for Consumer Research. At Wright State, Professor Dinsmore teaches a variety of courses including Digital Marketing, Strategy and Creativity & Problem-Solving, garnering multiple teaching awards. He has provided executive training services to the United States Air Force and Speedway Corporation. His academic research primarily focuses on financial decision-making, methods of payment, and mobile applications, having been published in academic journals including Psychology & Marketing, Journal of Business Research and International Journal of Research in Marketing.  He also recently wrote a chapter for the Handbook of Experimental Finance. Dinsmore has published business cases designated at “Best Sellers” by Harvard Publishing focusing on strategy and analytics. These cases are taught in MBA programs across North America, Europe, Asia, and South America at institutions such as University of Chicago, Peking University, and King's College. This Fall, he will be a featured speaker at TEDx-Dayton to discuss his research on financial decision-making. Prior to earning his PhD, John Dinsmore worked in the marketing industry for 14 years in various roles. Dinsmore holds a BA in Political Science from James Madison University, an MBA in Marketing & Finance from University of Georgia, and a PhD in Marketing from University of Cincinnati. He lives in Dayton, Ohio with his wife, two sons, and a gigantic bulldog named Creed.

Summer is upon us, and savvy authors know this season presents unique marketing opportunities—but what exactly makes a book beach-worthy? Penny Sansevieri and Amy Cornell dive into the evolving definition of "summer reads" and reveal practical strategies for positioning any book to capture readers' attention during these warmer months. The podcast challenges traditional notions of what constitutes summer reading material. While escapist genre fiction remains popular, today's readers are equally drawn to true crime, activity-based children's books, and "maker" titles that inspire summer projects. With rising travel costs leading many to embrace "staycations," books offering at-home experiences or local exploration guides are experiencing unexpected popularity surges. The hosts emphasize that even serious books needn't be shelved until fall—they simply require different positioning to connect with summer readers. What makes this episode particularly valuable is its focus on low-cost, high-impact marketing pivots. Rather than suggesting expensive cover redesigns or content overhauls, Penny and Amy recommend simple tweaks and easy changes to grab more summer readers! Ready to transform your book into this summer's must-read?
