We hear the start of the poem itself, Pargys Caillit (Paradise Lost), in the recording that was made by Jack Gell, and was to be heard in 'Traa dy Liooar'. Maralyn Crellin presents 'Shiaght Laa', and we hear about Praying the Keeills, about the life and work of jazz player, John Coltrane, and about the story connected with a song of which a translation into Manx was made by Doug Fargher. There are twelve questions for us in 'Jamys Jeheiney', shared between four parts of three questions apiece by James Harrison. For 'Goll as Gaccan', Phil Gawne leads us through lesson 42 of First Lessons in Manx by Edmund Goodwin, before Phil and Annie Kissack perform a rhyme by Sharon Christian to teach children the sound [k]. We come to the end of the series of translations by Neddy Beg Hom Ruy (Edward Faragher, Cregneash) of Aesop's Fables in 'Claare ny Gael', and we hear extracts from a letter of Neddy Beg as well.

We begin with 'Traa dy Liooar', in which we listen to a recording made by Jack Gell - and after such a long gap, we begin again. In 'Shiaght Laa' Fiona McArdle tells us about Dr John Clague as about the book, Manx Reminiscences : Cooinaghtyn Manninagh, and from it we hear Jack Gell, Bob Carswell and James Harrison talking about Old May Eve and Old May Day. We have a lesson in 'Goll as Gaccan' about the way to talk about the future, as well as a word or two for us, whilst Phil Gawne looks again at First Lessons in Manx by Edmund Goodwin. We have a series of short stories in 'Claare ny Gael' out of 'Skeealyn Aesop', translated into Manx by Neddy Beg Hom Ruy, Edward Fargher, Cregneash, and published in the year 1901.
By 1911 there were no visible remains of a keeill known as Cabbal Rhullickey. Renowned scholar J J Kneen traced its name to an earlier Cabbal Ronnican, named for an Irish saint who was celebrated on 15th May with a fair in Ballaugh. Nearby, Bishopscourt was the scene of a fire which destroyed much of the middle block and led to the death of Mary Gardner in the early hours of Tuesday 16th May 1893. We have a series of short stories in Manx, Skeealyn Aesop, in the translation by Neddy Beg Hom Ruy, Edward Faragher of Cregneash, published in 1901. At the end of May 2017, Christy visited Karen Griffiths, new head gardener at Cregneash, who took over this year from horticulturalist Cilla Platt following her retirement. The birds were singing, the bees were buzzing and the flowers were bursting with colour
We were delighted to be joined on 6th June 2017 by a woman who grew up surrounded by bees and Borstal Boys; who ran her own Market Garden, looks after Loughtans, enjoys a spot of boating, REALLY loves fast trains - and whose careful planning, all-weather work and very green fingers have left their colourful mark on the glorious gardens at one of the Island’s most loved heritage sites. Horticulturalist Cilla Platt recently retired as head gardener at Cregneash after nearly two decades. Her dedication to heritage vegetables and replanting traditional Manx varieties has made a lasting legacy to the gardens of the much loved village. If you missed the programme, you can listen again to it in full here.
