Send us Fan MailEpisode 263Coal smoke hangs over terraced streets. Trams rattle past rows of brick houses. In living rooms across the country, black-and-white television sets flicker into life as families gather together at the end of the day.A new kind of fame is beginning to emerge. Not from grand film palaces or theatre stages, but from the small glowing box sitting in the corner of the room. Television is turning ordinary performers into familiar faces—people welcomed into homes week after week, until they begin to feel like part of the family.Soon, one particular character comes to dominate British comedy. A scruffy old man living among dust, junk and arguments. Millions know the face. Millions know the voice. But behind the makeup and the performance sits a very different story. One shaped by Dublin streets, theatre stages, personal heartbreak, unexpected success and the strange cost of becoming famous for playing somebody else.Support the showInsta@justpassingthroughpodcastContact:justpassingthroughpodcast@gmail.com

It's the biggest integrated transport undertaking in the world. So it follows that running it and being accountable for its day-to day operation, is one of the biggest jobs in world transport. For Andy Lord, Commissioner of Transport for London (and Commissioner means Group CEO), it's clearly a privilege and a job he relishes despite all the challenges it throws up. From the world famous and iconic London Underground, the much-loved red buses, the DLR, the Overground, the Trams, even the cable car plus the hundreds of kms of cycling superhighways, the job is as varied as the transport modes for which he is ultimately responsible. In this wide-ranging interview, we talk to Andy about his background in aviation, his love of all things London Transport and some of the tricky decisions he must take on a regular basis. Plus, we look to the future and speculate a little on what changes may be on the horizon.Membership: If you want to see even more from Green Signals, including exclusive content, become a member and support the channel further too.YouTube -https://www.youtube.com/@GreenSignals/joinPatreon -https://www.patreon.com/GreenSignalsGreen Signals: Website -http://www.greensignals.orgMerchandise - http://greensignals.etsy.comNewsletter -http://www.greensignals.org/#mailing-listFollow: X (Twitter) -https://twitter.com/greensignallers LinkedIn -https://www.linkedin.com/company/green-signals-productions-ltdYou can view our legal disclaimer, copyright information and privacy policy here - https://www.greensignals.org/legal/

"In Milan, one feels at once the charm of a great city and the sweetness of Italian life" - Stendhal (Marie-Henri Beyle)Welcome to Episode #134:Today I share some fabulous things to do if you are on a budget or just a savy traveler and why Milano should not be ignored. It is one of the most charming and underrated cities in Italy and very beautiful too. So I want to share my favourite things to do for free and what to eat. There is so much to do and see, from the fabulous historic trams to wandering the Navigli Canals to hanging out on the high street in the fashion district, the 'quadrilateral della moda' in Milan just to appreciate the aesthetics on offer and the wonderful architecture. Milan is sophisticated and beautiful, yes, but it is not a gate keeper. It is a city of family's and students and has a great vibe. Is more casual than you think and I felt right at home there. The food is excellent and the aperitivo scene is all happening. Milan is vibrant, kind of cool and lots of fun and you should definitely make time to explore this great northern city of Italy.Enjoy, Michelle xShownotes A Writer in Italy InstagramSubstack - At My TableMichelle's BooksMusical Scores by Richard JohnstonA Writer in Italy is about travel and life.
