We sure had a great time talking with Miranda Brown and Brian Marchese for this episode! Miranda is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has not only her own recordings and performances in her dossier, but has played with many luminaries like AC Newman, The New Pornographers, Ryan Adams, Crooked Fences, The Lonesome Brothers, Eric Bachman, David Dondero, The Space Elevators, and Oh No Oh My. Brian also is a multi-instrumentalist, known widely for his drumming and, aside from his own solo project Sitting Next To Brian, is or has been a part of many great bands like The Fawns, School For The Dead, Gentle Hen, Lo-Fine, Goldwater, The Figments, The Mal Thursday Quintet, Our Wicked Hearts, and many more, and has played on records by such cool folks like Mark Mulcahy and Haunt. There's so much covered in here - it's a long one (but worth it!) - including sharing some memories and cool stories of their musical careers, and a lot more outside of just music. Songs featured during the conversation: Glacier - "Snow" Our Wicked Hearts - "I Should Go" Pineapples - "Early Waters" The Fawns - "Sun" Miranda Brown and band - "The Get Around" --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/meatforteacast/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/meatforteacast/support

My guest today is singer-songwriter, guitarist, and harmonica dude, Nic Clark. Nic is the "chairman" of the Middle Class Rock Star guests. He's been on the show more than anyone. Five times to be exact. Three times as a guest, and twice as a co-host (17. David Dondero and 68. Mickey Raphael). His accomplishments include playing harmonica with Big Head Todd & The Monsters at Red Rocks, being a finalist in the International Blues Competition, and being the best cheerleader for all of his musical friends. His new full-length release, Love Your Life: Songs for the Whole Family, is the "Shrek" of children's albums. It's made for kids, but the parents will enjoy it just as much. It's quality music that will make you smile. What more can you really ask for in life? The record includes many special guests ranging from famous people like Charlie Hunter, to not-so-famous people like me! Nic is one of my closest friends, and I think it's obvious in our conversation. Fair warning, this is probably my longest monologue yet. I try to keep 'em short and sweet, but I had a lot to say this week. If it's not your thing, skip ahead to about the 10 minute mark. Nic Clark is my first repeat guest on MCRS. His first appearance was in episode 5. We tired not to repeat too much, so feel free to go back and check out that interview as well. Nic was also a co-host when I interviewed David Dondero (on NPR's list of best living songwriters) in episode 17. Nic has enjoyed success as a singer/songwriter, fingerpicking guitarist and world class harmonica player. At just 24, he has performed and recorded with many popular artists including Big Head Todd & The Monsters. He also has a few records under his belt as a producer. In this episode, we talk about all that, his big move from Denver to San Jose at the end of this month, and his long battle with health and weight loss. Nic at one point weighed in at almost 400lbs. He's living in a new, much smaller body now, but still has a lot of work to do to get where he wants to be to feel healthy.
