Brenda's passion for bridging the gap between research and practice shines through as she recounts her career under Ed Davis, her innovative role as Director of Research and Development, and her current work with 21CP Solutions. Discover how Brenda's unique insights are helping police departments across the nation implement research-driven strategies for organizational improvement.Explore the critical role that diverse perspectives play in both healthcare and policing. Brenda and I discuss the transformative power of bringing in external experts to combat insularity and introduce fresh viewpoints. Drawing parallels with healthcare responses to crises like the pandemic and the opioid epidemic, we highlight the benefits of a multi-disciplinary approach in addressing complex social issues. In policing, this means rethinking who should be at the decision-making table to ensure comprehensive solutions, particularly for mental health and social challenges.Leadership in policing isn't just about managing internal issues but innovation and reform. Brenda and I delve into the complexities police leaders face, such as balancing internal challenges with external expectations. We illustrate how unconventional approaches can lead to significant changes by sharing real-world examples like offender reentry initiatives. Cracking Dental SEO: Insights from Ron J. Fortier, Director of Production/SEO at Doctor Genius

In this episode of the Nifty Thrifty Podcast, Dr. Glenn Vo sits down with Ron J. Fortier—the Director of Production/SEO at Doctor Genius—to discuss the importance of Dental SEO and how it can help practices grow their patient base. With years of experience in automotive SEO under his belt, Ron is here to share his wealth of knowledge and provide actionable insights on how to optimize your dental website for search engines and effectively reach potential patients. From understanding the unique nature of healthcare searches to implementing comprehensive content strategies, Ron covers it all. Key Highlights: Dental SEO is unique and requires a deep understanding of the business and the target audience. It differs from other industries like automotive or e-commerce due to the immediate need and lean-forward nature of healthcare searches. Content is king when it comes to SEO. Doctor Genius deploys around 150-170 pages for a standard dental website, covering various services and procedures. This comprehensive approach helps practices rank for a wide range of keywords and search queries. Regularly updating and adding new content to the website is crucial. Google rewards effort, so consistently posting blog articles and refreshing pages can significantly improve search rankings over time. Doctor Genius employs a 130-page style guide to ensure their content is well-structured, engaging, and optimized for different types of readers (e.g., paragraph readers, quote skimmers, headline readers, etc.). Setting realistic expectations is essential. Climbing search rankings takes time and consistent effort. It's not a light switch, but with the right strategy and implementation, practices can gradually improve their visibility and attract more patients. Common SEO myths debunked: The length of URL registration and the age of a domain have little to no impact on search rankings. However, the length and quality of blog posts do matter—aim for at least 500 words and provide in-depth, valuable content. She suggests bringing kinesiologists into primary care to help patients overcome barriers to exercise. Dr. Fortier talks about the importance of small, manageable steps and using motivational interviewing techniques to engage patients. She also discusses the "commit 10" approach, which encourages patients to start with just ten minutes of activity over a two week period.Throughout the episode, the hosts and guests stress the importance of empathy, realistic goal setting, and systemic support to make exercise a practical treatment option for depression. They highlight the overall benefits of movement for both mental and physical health and advocate for a more integrated approach to patient care. For more information from our sponsor, go to scotiabank.com/physiciansJoin us as we explore medical solutions that address the urgent need to change healthcare. As an acclaimed International Concussion Teacher and ADHD Consultant, her expertise extends far beyond the realms of traditional therapy. Simone is a Fascia Treatment and Course creator, whose results have been hailed as transformative by professionals across the globe, from the elite spheres of  NHL, MLB, and NFL athletes to the precision-driven world of Olympic competitors. Simone sees the bigger picture and works backward. Knowing that treating the symptom of a problem will lead to continuous treatments without resolution, she teaches us to get to the root cause of the problem to create permanent change. Sought after in the four corners of the world, Simone's mission has always been to help people. Now, with her expertise in high demand, she travels the world to share her knowledge with Health Practitioners and Advanced strength Coaches so that their clients and athletes will have access to true fascia therapy and the ability to find real brain-boosting and pain-healing solutions in their own locations.   Together Dr. Simone and I discuss traumatic brain injury, brain health, ADHD, and specifically, healing in the 20% of people who do not heal from traumatic brain injuries within 4 weeks. Simone has personal experience with ADHD, traumatic brain injuries, and chronic pain, and has dedicated her professional life to serving those with brain injuries through systems that optimize healing with supplements that get the brain out of fight or flight mode. In our conversation, she underscores the danger of picking and choosing which supplements to take each day and highlights key components of her systematic approach to treating neurotransmitter issues. Simone also touches on the importance of attending to the fascia and offers simple techniques to engage the fascia for optimal health.    I'm your host, Evelyne Lambrecht, thank you for designing a well world with us.   Episode Resources: Dr. Simone Fortier   Simone's Brain Health Assessment   Designs for Health   Nutrition Blog: Can Taurine Support Neurological Health?   Nutrition Blog: The Association of Vitamin D and ADHD in Children   Research Blog: Taurine's Impact on Stress and Mental Health   Research Blog: The Potential Role of the GABAergic System in ADHD Development Visit the Designs for Health Research and Education Library which houses medical journals, protocols, webinars, and our blog. Mark Few and the Gonzaga Bulldogs were snubbed, egregiously, by the WCC coaches in the end of the season awards. Graham Ike and Ryan Nembhard deserved Newcomer of the Year over Jonathan Mogbo from San Francisco, while Ike had a case for Player of the year over Augustas Marciulionis from St. Mary's. Will these snubs add even more fuel to the fire for the Zags heading into the WCC Tournament? We also discuss why Braden Huff did not win Freshman of the Year, despite a stronger case than Ryan Beasley, and Nolan Hickman being named All-WCC 2nd team instead of first team - and why he should have made it over Aidan Mahaney. We close out the show discussing Lisa Fortier and the Zag women, who secured four of the six major WCC awards - with both Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year going to Yvonne Ejim and coach Fortier taking home the Coach of the Year award.FANDUEL DISCLAIMER: 21+ in select states. On April 19th 1995, the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, OK became the site of the worst domestic terror attack in the history of the United States. Few researchers have gone as deep into this convoluted nightmare as native Oklahoman Richard Booth. Richard was in his late teens in 1995 and has the unique perspective of someone who was able to watch the story unfold on a local level. Since then Richard hasn't had a day go by that he didn't think about the bombing and his research is second to none.  McVeigh, Nichols, Fortier, Roger Moore, Kenneth and Jesse Trentadue, who is John Doe #2, A Noble Lie, Aberration, Andreas Strassmeier, Bob Matthews, PatCon, Jolly West, Iran Contra and so much more. This truly is JFK for a newer generation and Richard needs to be recognized for his tireless work bringing it to the light. Our guest today, Verla Fortier is a retired nursing professor who was diagnosed with systemic lupus just as she was retiring to her hometown of Pine Falls, Manitoba, Canada. Verla uses green space research to help her to take control of her health and happiness. Verla teaches us: What green space is and what qualifies as green space How to use green space in your environment and to support your healing The many benefits of green space for regulation and healing Her CONTROL acronym and how it supports her daily on her healing journey Her SPACE acronym with practical examples for all of us to use She draws on university approved studies with thousands of people over decades that prove the game changing mind and body effects of time spent outside.
