Jeffrey Martin, a pioneer in the field of 360-degree photography, has been living in Prague for a quarter of a century. Recently his company Mosaic launched a 15-terapixel open-source data set of high resolution street view imagery of the city. How is this incredibly detailed mapping carried out? And who are the many users already accessing the resource, which is free for non-commercial use? I spoke to Martin, who is from the US, in a small park near his office in the Smíchov district.

It's 2024 recap time on Basic Folk! Cindy & Lizzie dive into a most special year-end reflection, featuring highlights from our honest conversations with folk musicians. We revisit THE top episode of the year, Anna Tivel & Jeffrey Martin's insightful discussion on navigating artistic challenges and living a simple life. Cindy shares her favorite episode featuring her co-host Lizzie No talking about her career-defining album, Halfsies (our 250th episode!). In turn, Lizzie's favorite honest convo came from Leyla McCalla onboard the Cayamo Cruise. We sat in the ship lounge and dug in with Leyla about the "folk process" and her thoughts on cruising, as a Haitian-American, as we ported in Hispaniola aboard a luxury cruise line. (Spoiler: it is complex!)Basic Folk checks in with friend Jontavious Willis about his biggest lesson of 2024 and what defining success as an independent artist looks like as he has just released his latest West Georgia Blues. We also welcome Rose Cousins' heartfelt words on embracing change as she prepares to release her next record, Conditions of Love - Vol. 1 (out March 14, 2025). As the episode ends, Lizzie leaves us with some words of wisdom:"We are at a time of year where your body wants to be doing less. We've just survived a chaos clown show of violence in the election. Our culture is shifting rapidly. It's okay if the things that used to work for you don't work anymore. You're allowed to start over. You're allowed to try new things. You're allowed to tell people in your life, 'I've changed.' You're allowed to listen to new artists. You're allowed to change how you dress. You can do it all. 2025 is a new year and you have freedom. And that's my blessing to you." - Lizzie No.Goodbye 2024!Episodes featured:Anna Tivel & Jeffrey Martin: https://basicfolk.com/anna-tivel-jeffrey-martin-eyeballs-ice-cream-and-portland-oregon/Lizzie No: https://basicfolk.com/lizzie-no-the-goat-on-gender-tiaras-and-leveling-up/Leyla McCalla: https://basicfolk.com/leyla-mccallas-joyful-rebellion-sun-without-heat-and-the-freedom-of-play/Follow Basic Folk on social media: https://basicfolk.bio.link/Sign up for Basic Folk's newsletter: https://bit.ly/basicfolknewsHelp produce Basic Folk by contributing: https://basicfolk.com/donate/Interested in sponsoring us? In this journey of spiritual exploration, we welcome the ever-enlightened Jonathan Robinson, a seeker who has graced his path with encounters from the Dalai Lama to Mother Teresa. His life, a testament to the endless quest for inner peace, resonates with the simple yet profound essence of perceiving the world beyond the ego's grasp.Jonathan believes enlightenment is perceiving the world without the ego's lens. As he shares his journey, it becomes clear that awakening is not reserved for the select few but is attainable for anyone willing to explore the right methods. He mentions how enlightenment often is misunderstood as an unattainable state, reserved only for great spiritual beings, whereas it is a matter of shifting one's awareness and identifying with the soul. His journey in the scientific study of enlightenment alongside Dr. Jeffrey Martin reveals that modern methods can effectively guide one toward awakening. This collaboration aimed to study enlightenment triggers and the most efficient practices to achieve it. What stands out is the realization that many traditional methods might not be as effective in today's fast-paced world, but innovative approaches developed recently show remarkable potential in inducing moments of enlightenment.Jonathan describes the four levels of enlightenment: starting from being present, feeling one with everything, embodying love, and finally, a state of non-dual awareness where emotions dissolve, leaving pure presence. His personal experiences with spiritual masters like Sai Baba, who exuded overwhelming love energy, further illustrate the profound impact of these enlightened beings. His unique encounters, such as with Sai Baba manifesting ash and the overwhelming love he felt, highlight the extraordinary nature of true spiritual presence. Yet, Robinson also emphasizes the practicality of enlightenment, appreciating figures like the Dalai Lama who maintain their awakened state while engaging actively in the world.SPIRITUAL TAKEAWAYSEnlightenment is Perceiving Beyond the Ego: It's about shifting from identifying with the ego to recognizing oneself as pure awareness.Modern Methods for Awakening: Embracing new, effective methods tailored for the contemporary world can significantly enhance one's spiritual journey.Embodied Presence and Love: True enlightenment often manifests as a deep sense of love and presence, transcending ordinary human experiences.Jonathan Robinson's mission extends beyond personal enlightenment. His goal is to disseminate these potent methods, making them accessible to millions. His website, The Enlightenment Project, offers resources and practices that can be done in minutes, reflecting his belief in simplicity and accessibility in spiritual practices. In conclusion, the path to enlightenment is both deeply personal and universally attainable. It's about finding methods that resonate with you and integrating them into your daily life. By focusing on inner peace and love, and then extending this outward, one not only transforms their own life but also contributes to the collective awakening. Please enjoy my conversation with Jonathan Robinson.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/next-level-soul-podcast-with-alex-ferrari--4858435/support.

I'm the Co-Founder and CEO of Mosaic. We are a mobile-mapping camera company. Our general thesis is that as computing improves and various algorithms improve, it becomes less and less important to use high-end LiDAR, which is extremely expensive, cumbersome, and hard to use. Companies such as Trimble, Hexagon, and others are stuck in an innovator's dilemma. And we are coming after you because we don't need these extremely expensive lasers anymore. You can achieve even better results in a fraction of the time of data collection using photogrammetry. And in many cases, you can get even more detailed 3D model using photogrammetry. So while we do use LiDAR as well, we take a camera-first point of view. So both with the devices that go on the cars as well as the device on my back, we have extremely high-resolution cameras with very high image quality with a very high level of synchronization and a very good calibration of the optical properties of the cameras that allow users to derive measurements and create 3D models, point clouds, and textured meshes with ease.

Sponsored by www.betterhelp.com/TheBarn, Reynolds Landscaping & Lawncare, Everest Counseling (Farmington, Mo)Jeffrey Martin's latest album, "Thank God We Left The Garden," is a deeply personal and introspective musical journey that was created in a unique and intimate setting. He recorded the album during the winter in a small shack he built in his backyard in southeast Portland, Oregon, measuring just eight feet by ten feet. Originally intended as demos for a future studio recording, the shack became the album's birthplace, resulting in a spare, intimate, and honest collection of songs. Martin recorded the album live and alone, using only two microphones, often pausing to wait for the sound of passing trucks on a nearby busy street or coordinating his recording sessions with the cycles of an oil coil heater during cold nights."Thank God We Left The Garden" marks Jeffrey Martin's fourth full-length album and is set to be released on Portland's renowned Fluff and Gravy Records. He took on the roles of producer and engineer for the album, emphasizing the magic that arose from the unique recording environment, which allowed his voice, guitar, and new songs to come together with a profound sense of honesty. The album's lyrics delve into themes of imperfection, transformation, and spirituality. Martin's warm and candid voice, accompanied primarily by his guitar, creates an atmosphere that feels refreshingly real. He described his singing on this album as a personal exploration, striving to discover the true extent of his abilities with minimal instrumentation. This choice, he believes, was a reaction to the overwhelming pace of modern life, filled with constant news, entertainment, politics, and violence. He aimed to prove that even in today's fast-paced world, simplicity and authenticity still hold value. While "Thank God We Left The Garden" maintains the lyrical weightiness of Martin's previous work, it also brings forth a new sense of kindness and solace, portraying a timeless and generous spirit. The album's title itself reflects Martin's spiritual journey, acknowledging the complexities of religion and celebrating the beauty found in life's messiness. As the son of a pastor, he challenges the traditional notion of human brokenness, proposing that the divine might revel in the mystery of imperfection and failure. This album is best experienced as a cohesive whole, as each song contributes to a broader exploration of life's intricacies, the human experience, and the essence of being alive. Jeffrey Martin's songwriting seamlessly transitions from introspective reflections on his own inner world to compelling narratives about others. His work consistently avoids alienating the listener, instead offering relatable stories and emotions. In conclusion, "Thank God We Left The Garden" is a musical tapestry that craves the listener's undivided attention. It invites us to explore the tangled web of existence, seeking answers to profound questions while celebrating the act of asking. With its warm and genuine sound, this album is a testament to the enduring power of simplicity and authenticity in an increasingly complex world. All equipment used in the making of this video:Shure Sm7b https://amzn.to/3uAMzMAShure Sm58 https://amzn.to/3xlAj4pBoom Arm Desktop Mic Stand https://amzn.to/3rlZtvGMixcast 4 Audio Mixer https://amzn.to/3uD3KgzOneOdio Headphones https://amzn.to/3rK9cwnPig Hog Headphone Extension https://amzn.to/3JxvwiNwww.betterhelp.com/TheBarnhttp://www.betterhelp.com/TheBarn http://www.betterhelp.com/TheBarnThis episode is sponsored by www.betterhelp.com/TheBarn and presented to you by The Barn Media Group.

In this episode, Jeffery discusses Persistent Non-Symbolic Experience, more commonly referred to as Fundamental well-being. He discusses his research and key findings, and the protocols he has developed and tested to help people obtain "fundamental well-being" in a rapid, secular, and safe way. For notes, further resources, and to listen as a podcast, head to our website: About Dr Jeffery Martin For over 15 years Jeffery has conducted the largest international study on persistent non-symbolic experience (PNSE), which includes the types of consciousness commonly known as enlightenment, nonduality, the peace that passeth understanding, unitive experience, and hundreds of other terms. This resulted in the first reliable, cross-cultural and pan-tradition classification system for these types of experiences. It also led to the fundamental discovery that these were psychological states that had been identified and adopted for thousands of years by many cultures and belief systems. They were not inherently spiritual or religious, or limited to any given culture or population, and could be moulded in many ways to shape the experience. More recently, he has used this research to make systems available to help people obtain profound psychological benefits in a rapid, secular, reliable, and safe way. About Rufus Pollock Rufus Pollock is an entrepreneur, activist, author, and long-term Zen practitioner. He is passionate about finding wiser, weller ways to live together. Fun times with our favorite non-duo duo Anna Tivel and Jeffrey Martin. The pair met in the early 2010's in Portland, bonded over songwriting and have been together ever since. They got together at a time when they were both learning how to tour and they were able to figure it all out as a pair. And yes, they have toured and do tour together and have sang on each other's records, but there has never been an interest in an official collaboration. In this special interview, they discuss their thoughts and feelings on their partner's musical style: from how each learned music, to the way they each write songs. They discuss the space they give each other to be alone in creativity and how that space is key to their success as partners.Anna released her latest album, the acclaimed Outsiders in 2022 and Jeffrey is currently working on a new record. In fact, Jeffrey is recording his upcoming release in a small shack he built on their property in Portland. He completed the structure just in time for the pandemic to start, which was perfect timing since it meant he had his own space to work outside of his house and they both had a place to perform their weekly live streams. Jeffrey is also quite handy and has agreed to build a house for me and don't think I won't hold him to it. We have it on tape, Jeffrey. And you can record 8K photos, 8K videos, and seven frames per second Google Street View. This is in Street View mode, all you do is press record. And after you're done recording, you can upload the files directly from the camera via Wi-Fi, Ethernet cable, or with a SIM card directly to Google Maps. And you can get your "blue lines" published really quickly, without the files ever needing to touch your computer or anything else.So it's a really nice, easy camera.

Jeffrey Martin is an internationally touring singer-songwriter based in Portland, OR. Mick Flannery is an award-winning singer-songwriter from Ireland. These two share a deep appreciation for each other, many similarities, and a tour van occasionally. It was great to sit down with them while they were on tour recently and catch a glimpse into their friendship and hear their unique stories. Jeffrey tells us about his decision to walk away from full-time teaching into full-time music. Mick shares about his own turn towards music as a career after working in a completely different profession. They discuss the transition from touring back to real life, and what - in addition to beer - helps them get through rough patches. We also chat about Steinbeck’s tenderness and their “favorites” - books, music, memories and more! For this special series, I’m talking to some of the talented folks who created photo shoots for the Tether Sourcebook about their inspiration, process, and industry insights.  Visual artist and graphic designer Janet Creekmore has loved photography for a long time—she even managed a photo studio. She wanted to do a food shoot that presented a challenge, and serendipitously met photographer Marlene Rounds, who connected with food stylist Jeffrey Martin. Learn how they recruited a cast of surprisingly cooperative “real people,” how their favorite shot came together on the fly, and what happened to the food once the photos were taken (hint: they ate it).  creativeeyecandy.com poppedart.gallery janetcreekmore.com marlenerounds.com         jeffreymartinfoodstylist.com gomezsalsa.com      sliceslicebabypizza.com tethercincinnati.com

It’s here, it’s here! Once again, we’ve come upon that week in December when we celebrate all things programming. December 5 kicks off national Computer Science Week, and what better way to start the celebrations than with a perfectly-themed interview? Today, we’ve got Jeffrey Martin on the EdSurge podcast. The founder of an organization called "honorCode" recently won the $500,000 Global Change the World competition for nonprofit entrepreneurs as part of the Forbes Under 30 Summit held in Boston in October. HonorCode is a nonprofit that provides curriculum and training to schools to help prep teachers to educate K-12 kids on coding. That’s right people—it’s not just about the kids, you have to educate the adults, too!
