Welcome to week 1 of our Summer Series on the Book of Daniel!
*We had some major connection gremlins during recording, but please stick with it. Lots of great information is incoming from Terry.* This week we welcome back author and historian, Terry Boardman. A deep dive into the historical context of the foundation of the State Of Israel is on the menu. Geo-politics, spiritual warfare and the hidden esoteric hand are areas we hope to explore and elucidate. Follow Terry's work here: Website - https://threeman.org/ From the web: The foundation of the State of Israel is a fascinating story that spans millennia. Here's a brief overview: Ancient Roots: The roots of modern Israel can be traced back to ancient times when the Israelites established a united kingdom under King Saul around 1020 BCE. However, internal strife and external pressures led to the division of this kingdom into two: Israel in the north and Judah in the south. Over the centuries, the region witnessed a series of conquerors, from the Persians to the Greeks under Alexander the Great, followed by the Seleucid Empire. Roman Period and Jewish-Roman Wars: By 63 BCE, the Romans had annexed Judea, making it a province of the Roman Empire. The destruction of the Second Temple in 70 CE by the Roman legions was a devastating blow. A subsequent revolt, the Bar Kokhba rebellion (132-136 CE), further diminished Jewish autonomy in the region. Spread of the Jewish Diaspora: Following these events, the Jewish diaspora spread across the Mediterranean and beyond, but a Jewish presence remained in Palestine throughout the subsequent centuries. Islamic Rule and Ottoman Empire: The rise of Islam in the 7th century CE brought new rulers to the region, including the Umayyad and later the Abbasid Caliphates. Over the next millennium, control of the region shifted among various empires, including the Crusaders, the Mamluks, and the Ottomans. Zionism and the Call for Return: In the late 19th century, the Zionist movement emerged, seeking to establish a national homeland for the Jewish people in Palestine. The term “Zionism” derives from “Zion,” symbolising the entire Promised Land. The Holocaust during World War II strengthened Jewish determination. Declaration of the State of Israel: On May 14, 1948, the Jewish People's Council gathered at the Tel Aviv Museum and proclaimed the establishment of the State of Israel. David Ben-Gurion, leader of the Jewish National Council, read out the proclamation, declaring the first independent Jewish state in nineteen centuries of history. The infant state faced immediate challenges, including war with the Arab League and invasions by three Arab armies. And so, the long-cherished Zionist dream became a reality, marking a pivotal moment in Jewish history #history #zionism #israel _______________________________ Follow us here: https://allmylinks.com/the-amish-inquisition Signup for the newsletter, join the community, follow us online, and most importantly share links! This is a tender episode that Lauren and I made in response to an anonymous question we received the week prior. This brave person reached out to us asking for advice about their decision to have first intercourse within their current relationship. The original anonymous question is read aloud for the audience, but the additional context provided by our brave friend is kept out of the episode. We first build a container that we feel lays the foundation of the following conversation: our backgrounds, our perspectives, and our shortcomings– i.e. we haven't met this person, and only know a few details of the situation. From there, Lauren and I give our own stories relating to first intercourse and we try to give our friend tools they can use to analyze their own situation from a sex-positive, consent based perspective. We also follow the situation through – if this disagreement about intercourse ended in a breakup; what would that look like? We discuss what our friend can do to support themselves in a way that honors the bravery of their decision to stand on their values, yet also acknowledges the pain of a breakup. Episode 10 is heartfelt, tender, and real. Thank you for trusting us with your question, friend. You are so worthy, so loved, so kind. Click here for our sexual values worksheet. Ahhhh boundaries, why do you have to feel so bad?!While it DOES get easier to set boundaries, at the beginning it's like pulling your arm off in an effort to just get a little space. Painful, with instant regret, and the results are generally less than stellar. Why does this happen? Aren't we SUPPOSED to set boundaries? Isn't this the healthy thing? Yes. And.Yes, it's healthy, AND it's like trying to put a car in reverse when it's barrelling down the highway. If you've seen any Fast & Furious movie you know that maneuver could end in a giant, fiery, explosions-on-all-sides-and-halfway-down-the-road crash.Stay safe out there, loves, and Use Your Voice. Alistair shares from John 8:1-11 www.knec4jesus.org.uk The Line In The Sand They were ready to stone me. Why would he want to save me— even if he could? They had the law on their side. Why would he break it— even if he dared? They put to him an impossible question— any answer would catch him out. Why would he outwit them, even if he knew how? They used me to bring him down but he brought himself down. Without a word, without an answer, without an escape, down he stooped on his knees in the dirt, stretching out a hand, trailing a finger through the dusty sand. His head bowed, his back bent, his arm moving slowly, making lines... They keep on badgering him, goading him into tripping himself up. But without a stumble, he stood straight and made clear his line in the sand. “Stone her then, whoever is without sin.” Bending down once more, trailing fingers, eyes lowered, arm outstretched. Silence. Slowly, shuffling footsteps. Accusers departing. No-one left to condemn me. “Go well now,” he said to me, “Be without sin.” What a way to save a life.

Change is coming to South African politics, former DA federal chairman and now Eastern Cape Provincial Chairman for ActionSA, Athol Trollip, tells Peter Bruce on this edition of Podcasts From the Edge. The thing is to get the ANC out of power. But Trollip is no starry-eyed idealist. Only coalitions can feasibly replace the ANC at the next election in 2024 and he knows probably better than anyone how difficult coalitions can be. Forced by conscience to fire his corrupt deputy in Nelson Mandela Bay, Trollip was himself then upended when his coalition partner turned on him. So how to get it right? Does the public have a right to know in advance who would coalesce with whom? Or to be consulted afterwards? Will independent candidates make a difference in 2024?

First You Draw Two Lines in The Sand
Christopher Luxon is ruling out welfare cuts and state asset sales if National leads the government after next year's election. After six months in the job Luxon is rebranding the party - promising strong action on climate change and a return to standing in the Maori seats. He spoke to Guyon Espiner about what drives him and drew some important lines in the sand, including a pronouncement that he won't follow the lead of previous National governments by selling state assets. Political commentator Ben Thomas, a PR consultant and a former National Government press secretary, spoke to Susie Ferguson.
Howard reflects on this memo (https://www.oaktreecapital.com/docs/default-source/memos/lines-in-the-sand.pdf) originally published on April 18, 2017. Following up on his classic memo You Can't Eat IRR (https://www.oaktreecapital.com/docs/default-source/memos/2006-07-12-you-cant-eat-irr.pdf), he discusses why financial innovations that can artificially boost IRRs, like subscription lines, should be treated cautiously and why no single performance metric tells the whole story. The memo is read by LJ Ganser.
The teacher of the year winner has been announced, and there's a political agenda, as there always is. There are more COVID lines being drawn in the sand and people are going to have to make a choice on who to listen to and who to follow.

In this hour-long episode, I talk about the current crisis in Afghanistan, including the primary failure of engaging and maintaining a conflict without recognizing the differences in worldviews. Then, we move into the spiritual reflections on the current crisis, and how the way events are currently unfolding represents the spiritual deficit in Western civilization. Not a fun episode, but a necessary one in light of the unnecessary suffering currently being endured by American citizens and Afghan natives alike.
