Toilettenpapierrollen geliefert“, so Kloska.

Inventory is one of the most misunderstood and cash-intensive assets in a small business, and managing it strategically can dramatically improve cash flow, reduce risk, and support sustainable growth. Show Notes Page: https://www.thehowofbusiness.com/592-smarter-inventory-better-cash/ Inventory is often treated as an operational detail, but for many small businesses it is one of the biggest drivers of cash flow strain and hidden risk. In this episode, Henry Lopez reframes inventory for what it really is - cash tied up on your shelves - and explains why poor inventory decisions can quietly suffocate profitability. Henry walks through the most common inventory challenges small business owners face, including trapped working capital, spoilage and obsolescence, shrinkage, unpredictable demand, and the temptation of bulk-purchase discounts that often do more harm than good. He explains why inventory typically lives on the balance sheet rather than the P&L (Profit & Loss Statement), and how that accounting reality can mask its true impact on business performance. On this episode of The How of Business podcast Henry also explores the origins of Just-In-Time inventory, its roots in Toyota's post-war production system, and how small businesses can responsibly apply lean inventory principles today, especially now that most supply chains have stabilized after COVID disruptions. Finally, Henry outlines the core components of an effective inventory operating system, from software and supplier management to a short list of essential KPIs that help business owners stay in control. The key takeaway: inventory decisions are cash decisions and managing them well is critical to long-term business health and growth. Inventory management is not just about what you sell or use, it's how you invest your cash, manage risk, and determine whether your business can grow and survive. This episode is hosted by Henry Lopez. The How of Business podcast focuses on helping you start, run, grow and exit your small business. It's not about materials arriving on cue, it's about everything moving in rhythm. In this episode, Jason Schroeder and Kevin break down the second great pillar of the Toyota Production System: Just In Time. But as they reveal, this principle goes far beyond supply chains and delivery schedules, it's the heartbeat of flow. Through firsthand reflections from Toyota plants and lean pioneers, Jason and Kevin show how Just In Time is really about designing a perfectly balanced system where people, machines, and materials move in harmony, free of strain, waste, and interruption. From riveting stations built in the perfect “strike zone,” to 50-ton die changes completed in under five minutes without power, to two operators working one machine in seamless rhythm, this episode captures what true flow looks like in motion. In this episode, you'll learn: Why Just In Time isn't about inventory, it's about stability and flow. How Japanese manufacturers design balance between humans and machines. The real definition of pull: Takt-based pull, not reactive production. How flow state eliminates bottlenecks, strain, and waiting. Why nothing in Japan is built without Takt time and why construction shouldn't be either. Jason and Kevin also reveal a simple truth learned on the trip: you can't have Just In Time without Takt. It's not speed, it's synchronization. And when teams find that rhythm, work stops being stressful and starts being beautifully predictable. Let us know what you enjoy about the show! What happens when a 12-year-old decides to stop living a lie and pursue her true passion? For Broadway dancer Valeria Yamin, it was the moment that changed everything. In this captivating conversation, Valeria takes us on her journey from Venezuela to Broadway, revealing the pivotal moments that shaped her remarkable career. From tearfully confessing to her father that she wanted to be a performer (not an eye doctor), to facing rejection from her dream school only to find her way there through an unexpected encounter – Valeria's story is a masterclass in resilience and authenticity.Currently performing in the original Broadway cast of "Just In Time" after four seasons as a Radio City Rockette, Valeria speaks candidly about battling impostor syndrome, particularly when transitioning from dance to singing. "I don't have as much singing experience and training as I do with my dancing," she admits. "When I'm singing, I feel a lack of tools." Yet rather than letting this hold her back, she embraced vulnerability and gradual growth, showing how even accomplished performers continue to evolve. The conversation takes a thoughtful turn as Valeria, now 25, reflects on gaining perspective in her career – moving from being "on the train" of non-stop performing to seeing her life from a "bird's eye view." This shift allows her to appreciate her journey while considering what colors and textures she wants to add next. Her approach to setbacks is equally enlightening: "Not now, maybe not ever, but not now, but maybe someday."Throughout the episode, Valeria's definition of living in the moment shines through – being "out of your head and in the world." Her story reminds us that authentic living requires courage, resilience, and the willingness to embrace both successes and redirections as part of our growth.Have you been putting your true passions on hold? Listen to this episode and find the courage to follow your heart, just as Valeria did when she decided to live her truth. If you are enjoying the show please subscribe, share and review!
