Joey is finally able to review the Super Bowl, due to tough scheduling between us two, Dylan Richardson was unable to join this time, we due apologize for the delay. This game is one that we'll be talking about for generations, including a quarterback in Tom Brady that we'll also be talking about for many years to come. The Seahawks magic finally ran out, and at the worst possible time. Joey also talks about Mick Tinglehoff finally getting into the hall of fame, has more to say what he likes so much about Teddy Bridgewater, and of course we hear from all of you! www.facebook.com/purplemafiashow @purplemafiashow Call into our Phone Lines at:209-736-7877
In this megasode, Joey talks extensively about exciting new Vikings Head Coach Mike Zimmer. Dylan Richardson then joins, and the boys talk about the AFC and NFC title games, and then preview Superbowl XLVIII. Finally, Joey gets to your calls, and comments on Facebook and Twitter!
Joey is joined once again by Dylan Richardson, to talk Vikings vs Bears. The game itself was a mind boggling, bone rattling, frustrating black and blue slop fest. The boys do what they do best, and enjoy talking about our teams in detail, and bring you listeners some entertaining banter. 201CLike201D Purple Mafia on Facebook Follow us on Twitter: @purplemafiashow @dylanrichardson Hosted By: Joey Awaijane and Dylan Richardson Call In Line (209) 736-7877
Alex speaks with Jon Couture of The New Bedford Standard-Times about his reactions to Terry Francona's book, and some possible early Spring Training storylines. Alex asks Jon what his biggest takeaways from the book are, and if he feels worse about the state of the Red Sox after reading how Francona and Theo Epstein characterized ownership. Alex and Jon also talk about John Farrell's perception, the health concerns in the Red Sox lineup and the status of Jarrod Saltalamacchia. Pedro Martinez will rejoin the Red Sox as a special assistant to the General Manager, and though it's an obvious marketing plow, Alex doesn't understand why people are bemoaning the Red Sox for making the move. In fact, complaining about every Red Sox marketing scheme is getting a little passe. In the "Around the League" segment, Alex analyzes the implications of the Justin Upton trade, and what it says about baseball's culture war. Email Alex at areimer@bu.edu, and follow him on Twitter @AlexReimer1. Thanks as always to producer Dylan Richardson, and to you, the listener! Enjoy the Super Bowl this weekend. In case you haven't heard, Ray Lewis are retiring and Jim and John Harbaugh are brothers.
Sorry for the predictable title for this episode, but I couldn't pass up this chance, after waiting a year! Dylan Richardson joins Joey for a third consecutive episode, to preview the Superbowl, after Joey reviews the NFC and AFC title games. Yes, it will indeed be the San Fransisco 49ers vs the Baltimore Ravens in Superbowl XLVII, in which John and Jim Harbaugh will settle their sibling rivalry at the pinnacle of NFL immortality. Which long-time Viking will finally get their ring, Randy Moss or Matt Birk and Bryant McKinnie? Facebook.com./purplemafiashow Twitter: @purplemafiashow Call into our Phone Lines at:209-736-7877
Joey again is joined by Dylan Richardson, as the boys review an amazing division playoff round, which was filled with nightmares from Vikings playoffs past. The Denver Broncos committed a few cardinal sins, and the Seattle Seahawks nearly pulled off an amazing comeback, only to fall short with knucklehead coach Pete Carrol always trying to find a away to blame the refs. The New England Patriots and San Francisco 49ers look like dream teams, on their way to the Superbowl! facebook.com/purplemafiashow Twitter: @purplemafiashow @dylanrichardson
Dylan Richardson joins Joey to talk about the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs. The Minnesota Vikings, relegated to a cold Joe Webb do to a shoulder injury to Christian Ponder, were virtual non-factors offensively against the Packers, ending a surprisingly successful season earlier then many had hoped. Joey and Dylan have their usual good time talking football in general, as they jump into the Divisional round, prognosticating about what will happen next!
Joey is joined by TSS Founder, and avid Bears fan Dylan Richardson, to cap off the 2012 season in vintage PM style! Joey first talks about the cuts, and BMT's amazing journey to the 53 man roster, and then Joey and Dylan go deep into the 2012 season as only they can. Call into our Phone Lines at 209-736-7877
It is episode 500 of "Without a Curse," and Alex opens the show by thanking all of the listeners for tuning into the show over these past 7 years. Alex also thanks executive producer Dylan Richardson for all of the hard work he's put into the show over the past several years. Then...the evisceration of the 12-18 Red Sox commences. It goes from bad to worse with the perception of the team, as Josh Beckett was reportedly spotted golfing with Clay Buchholz last Thursday, two days before he missed his scheduled start due to a sore lat muscle. It has also been reported that Beckett refused to listen to trainers over the last home stand. Has Beckett gone rogue? Even though he's been the best starting pitcher on the team this season, has the time come to consider moving on from Beckett? Alex discusses this past series against the Royals, as the Red Sox dropped 2 of 3 games. Will Middlebrooks is one of the few bright spots, as he continues to perform offensively. Is it premature to begin discussions about Middlebrooks replacing Youkilis at 3rd base? Also, when will Bobby Valentine beginning managing this pitching staff to actually win games instead of treating these games like extended Spring Training? Adrian Gonzalez has been under a lot of scrutiny for his persona this past week. Is that criticism warranted, or has Gonzalez been a problem for the Red Sox? In the "Around the League" segment, Alex looks at the AL East standings and how David Robertson has struggled thus far in the closer's role. It's been another bad week for closers, as the Blue Jays recently replaced Francisco Cordero as closer in their bullpen. Alex also talks about Cole Hamels' decision to intentionally hit Bryce Harper last weekend, and whether or not it was warranted. Thanks again to all who have listened to "Without a Curse" over these past 500 episodes. Post on the message boards at www.thesportsstuff.com/boards. Email Alex at Alexredsox076@aol.com, and follow him on Twitter @AlexReimer1. RIP to Carl Beane...what a tragedy. He and his voice will be missed throughout Fenway Park.
Dylan Richardson joins this very special 100th episode, to talk about his Bears 39-10 trouncing of your beloved Minnesota Vikings.McNabb's days appear numbered, if not completely over as a starting QB in the NFL.Finally, we reminisce about PMs journey to 100 episodes. Call into our Phone Lines at 209-736-7877
With one more episode until the grand 100th of PM, Dylan Richardson at long last joins the show at long last, to talk about the Vikings and Bears match up in soldier field. We ask each other these questions: Which O-line will be worse? Which secondary will be worse? Is AP or Forte going to explode? Call into our Phone Lines at 209-736-787
Alex recaps the first 3 games against the Royals where the Red Sox offense has exploded for 10+ runs in 2 of the 3 games. Just how badly are the Red Sox punishing the horrid Royals pitching staff and defense? Alex also talks about Andrew Miller's struggles on Tuesday, and how with Clay Buchholz's status still very uncertain for the future, the Red Sox should look for a mid-level starting pitcher at the deadline. Whoever the Sox acquire won't be better than Buchholz, but they'll be better than Lackey/Miller/Wakefield, which is all you can be looking for. In the "Around the League" segment, Alex goes over the AL East standings. He also talks about the ending to the Pirates/Braves 19 inning game on Tuesday screams for instant replay in baseball, and Ervin Santana's no-hitter. The Colby Rasmus trade as well as the big Carlos Beltran deal is analyzed too. Plus, should the Mariners listen for offers on Felix Hernandez like the Rockies are for Ubaldo Jimenez? Post on the message boards (www.thesportsstuff.com/boards)! "Without a Curse" is now also available on Stitcher. You can take Alex Reimer with you wherever you go...blame Dylan Richardson (seriously, if you have an iPhone, iPad, or another device, check it out). "The Alex Reimer Show" airs Saturday's from 3-5 PM EST on 1120 AM WBNW Boston, www.moneymattersradio.net, and www.livestream.com/wbnw1120.
Alex talks about yet another eventful week in the WWE, including the decision to bring back Jim Ross. Is this a permanent move? Isn't it the direct antithesis of what this company has been about the past couple of years? (Not that it's a bad thing.) The "piledrivin' post of the week" (www.thesportsstuff.com/boards) is handed out, as Alex asks whether CM Punk returned too soon this week. Has the wind been taken out of the sails of the Punk/Cena program, or is Punk's early return not a factor? Plus, what was the plan for RAW this Monday night supposed to be? (Hint...you're not going to like.) The progression of the Christian/Randy Orton feud, as well as Sheamus' perceived face turn are topics too. In the "Finisher" segment, Alex mentions that Chris Benoit's father may look to sue the WWE. What if anything would come out of that? "The Alex Reimer Show" airs Saturday's from 3-5 PM EST on 1120 AM WBNW Boston, www.moneymattersradio.net, and www.livestream.com/wbnw1120. "Without a Curse" is now on Stitcher. You can take Alex Reimer with you wherever you go...(blame Dylan Richardson).
Alex interviews Joe Posnanski of Sports Illustrated. Alex and Joe discuss the Giants' World Series win, and how they're set up for the future. They also talk about baseball's national popularity, and whether parity is ultimately good for the game. In addition, Alex asks Joe about some essential storylines heading into this offseason. Alex gives his take on the Red Sox picking up David Ortiz's team option, and Adrian Beltre declining his player option. The "post of the day" (www.thesportsstuff.com/boards) is handed out, and in the "Around the League" segment, Alex talks about how the Giants won the World Series. "The Alex Reimer Show" airs Saturday from 4-6 PM EST on 1120 AM WBNW Boston, www.moneymattersradio.net, and www.livestream.com/wbnw1120 (this Saturday, 11/13, "The Alex Reimer Show" will likely air closer to 4:30, as Harvard football kicks off at 1:30 PM EST). A belated birthday wish goes out to executive producer Dylan Richardson!
In Episode 5 of NFL East 2 West Jim Towers and Dylan Richardson talk about the first week of NFL action including injurys to Mcnabb Brian Urlacher and others. This and much more on NFL East 2 West Episode number 5.
It's episode 300 of "Without a Curse!" Thanks to all for the participation in the show, and a big thanks to the executive producer, Dylan Richardson. But that's where the congratulations end, as the Red Sox were just swept by the Tampa Bay Rays on the heels of a four game series in New York against the Yankees. Alex has some concerns about the back-end of the rotation, and states that the Paul Byrd signing means that the Red Sox share his concerns, and also may not be confident about the status of both Daisuke Matsuzaka and Tim Wakefield, at least before September 1st. Alex also states that he feels Terry Francona may not be fielding his best lineup, as Jason Varitek is playing the bulk of the games at catcher, while Mike Lowell sits out. Alex thinks that Victor Martinez should catch the majority of the time, with Kevin Youkilis at first and Mike Lowell at third. Plus, Alex comments on David Ortiz, and says that the time has come for Ortiz to make a statement. Because the longer this thing drags out, the more dragged out the story becomes. Ortiz should have spoken in either Baltimore or Tampa Bay. Though the environment won't be dangerous, waiting until New York to have to address it was still a poor decision on his part. The "post of the day" is handed out, and Alex goes "Around the League," where he further previews the Sox and Yankees series this weekend, and rips on the Reds' lack of organization plan. Plus, the Brewers are imploding.
Alex interviews Jon Couture of the New Bedford Standard Times. Alex and Jon discuss David Ortiz's struggles, the lack of innings from the starting rotation, and how given all of that, the Red Sox still look to be in pretty good shape. Alex also recaps this past weekend's series against the Rays, and previews this week's two game series against the Yankees in New York. Alex hands out the "post of the day," and gives his uncensored opinion on Selena Roberts' book chronicling Alex Rodriguez. A big thanks to executive producer Dylan Richardson for the new "Without a Curse" theme song!
In the special Super Bowl edition of The Steel-Pitt Max is joined by Dylan Richardson as they preview and predict the winner. Also a contest is given out.
