You get two types of people when it comes to learning how to drive. The first type? Trial by fire: “As soon as you get your L’s, we’re hitting the N1 at 7am. If you can survive Marlboro Drive traffic, you can survive anything.” No warm-up. No quiet suburb roads. Straight into taxis, trucks, and that one guy in a BMW flashing you from behind. Then you get the second type. The soft launch drivers. “No rush. Let’s start in an empty parking lot. Indicators. Mirrors. Three-point turns. We build confidence first.” They believe in quiet streets, Sunday mornings, and zero pressure. One says, “The highway builds character.” The other says, “Trauma is not a teaching method.” So which one are you? Did you learn in survival mode on the N1…or did you master the basics on a peaceful back road first? Hang out with Anele and The Club on 947 every weekday morning. Joburg is funny like that, we all say the big area because it sounds nicer. “I live in Fourways.” No babes… you live in Magaliesig. “I’m in Roodepoort.” Okay cool… but are you in Wilro Park, Florida Glen, or Constantia Kloof? And don’t even get us started on “I stay in Sandton.” Is it actually Sandton… or is it Paulshof, Wendywood, or Buccleuch? Joburg is layered. Roodepoort is known. Fourways is known. Sandton is known. But inside those big names? There are smaller suburbs people don’t even realise exist. There’s literally a place called Joburg North. You think you’re in Fourways but technically? You’re not. So here’s the deal , we’re in South Africa, right? But the biggest celeb family drama in the world right now is happening across the pond in the UK. Anele is there for the Paradise 2003 Plus launch, and while he’s in London, we figured, who better to ask about the Beckham feud than the British public themselves? Because lately Brooklyn Beckham and his famous family; David Beckham and Victoria Beckham, have been in a huge public beef, with Brooklyn accusing his parents of trying to sabotage his marriage and cutting off contact. And so while we’re sitting here in South Africa living our best lives, Anele is on the streets of the UK asking real people: "Are you on Brooklyn’s side or on the rest of the Beckham family’s side?” Hang out with Anele and The Club on 947 every weekday morning. The Anele & The Club team jumped on the viral Trevor Noah Grammys moment and decided to recreate it their own way. Anele, Frankie, Cindy and Thembekile each took a turn reliving that awkward-but-iconic exchange the hesitation, the pressure, the “are we really doing this?” energy and of course, the singing. Each person brought a completely different vibe to it. Some leaned into the drama, some played it cool, and others fully embraced the chaos. What started as a simple reenactment quickly turned into a hilarious in-studio performance moment. And the twist? Trevor Noah himself got to rate who did it best. It’s one of those questions that instantly divides a room. On one hand, you’ve got working moms, up before sunrise, school runs done in record time, switching from “Mom” to “Professional” in the space of a commute. They handle deadlines, meetings, office pressure… then come home to homework, dinner, bath time and bedtime stories. For them, the day doesn’t end – it just changes uniforms. Every four years the world stops for the World Cup… but today we’re asking: what’s your World Cup? Not football. Not cricket. YOUR personal final. The event where you turn into a different human being. Is it the family Christmas lunch, where Auntie starts drama in the first half and by dessert it’s emotional extra time?Is it Black Friday, where you enter the mall calm and come out like a war veteran with one air fryer and trust issues? War of the Roses is our Valentine’s test of love. If you’re not completely sure your partner is loyal, you send us your story, and we step in. We call your partner pretending to be from the Marble Group, offering a romantic Valentine’s experience, and we listen to who they choose to share it with. You… or someone else. Sometimes the truth comes out when people think no one is watching. Today we have Layton and Jeremica. They’re a young couple from Toekomsrust, Randfontein, who met on Facebook four years ago and now have a 2-month-old baby. Layton says Jeremica is bubbly, supportive, and he adores her green eyes. Life seemed good… until recently. Layton has noticed changes. Jeremica is sometimes distant, going days without texting, and arguments have become constant. Messages on her phone have shaken his trust, and he’s left wondering: is she still in love with him… or has something changed? So today, Jeremica is being tested. We told her they’re heading out for a special evening, but the real question is: will Jeremica show Layton the love he’s hoping for… or has distance created space for secrets? Because sometimes stress with a new baby is innocent, and sometimes it comes with hidden truths this is Layton and Jeremica’s story… Hang out with Anele and The Club on 947 every weekday morning. Vickey is questioning whether she’s being ungrateful after her boyfriend bought her a Valentine’s Day gift that doesn’t feel like it was meant for her at all. Instead of something aligned with her interests, he booked a couples cooking course that runs over several weeks. The problem? She absolutely hates cooking and has zero interest in learning, while he’s the one who loves being in the kitchen, baking and trying new recipes. What was meant to be a romantic gesture now feels like a commitment to an activity she doesn’t enjoy, leaving her feeling like the “gift” was actually for him — just packaged as something for both of them. It raises the question: when a present benefits the giver more than the receiver, does it still count as thoughtful? Or is she being ungrateful for not appreciating the experience? Is it fair to expect a gift to be about what you like, or should couples gifts automatically be about shared growth — even if one person is suffering through it? When someone dies, their number doesn’t just disappear. Mobile providers usually recycle it after a few months but until then, old messages and calls could still come through. Families can contact the provider to close the account, but if they don’t, that number could end up in someone else’s hands. A phone number might outlive a person, so it’s smart to handle it carefully. we also had a chat with Chris Lazurus the Cell C - Chief Officer: Sales, Regions & Customers Care Hang out with Anele and The Club on 947 every weekday morning. We’re starting with Lerato from Kibler Park, Joburg South. She’s been with Simphiwe since 2018 after meeting on Facebook. She says he’s always been supportive, even helping her go back to school and paying for her registration. They love going out, he’s a big foodie, and they’ve had a good thing going but lately, he’s been secretive with his phone, taking calls in private, and it’s making her uneasy. So today, we’re calling Simphiwe to see one thing… when the Marble Valentine’s spoil is on the table, does he choose Lerato? Or someone else We called Simphiwe to tell him that he has won a dinner at the Marble group, but the question is... Who will he take with him? We all remember that one kid at school the record breaker. The fastest sprinter on sports day, the maths genius who kept scoring 100%, or the swimmer whose name stayed on the board for years. But maybe… that was YOU? Did you smash an athletics record? 100m, long jump, high jump and no one has touched it since? Or were you the academic weapon, setting the bar so high in maths, science, or accounting that teachers still talk about you? If your family had to receive an award, what would it be for? Maybe it’s for the loudest laughs at the dinner table, the most creative home-cooked meals, or the unwavering support you give each other no matter what. Perhaps it’s for always showing up for friends and neighbours, turning small gestures into big acts of love. Whatever it is, this award isn’t just about recognition, it’s a celebration of the unique ways your family leaves its mark on the world. Hang out with Anele and The Club on 947 every weekday morning. Stephen Grootes speaks to Ninety One founder and CEO Hendrik du Toit, about how Sanlam Investments’ strategic partnership with Ninety One strengthens its growth strategy and active investment capability. In other interviews, Pieter Smit, Acting Director of the Financial Intelligence Centre, and Steven Powell, ENS’s head of forensics, speak about National Treasury’s fast-tracked General Laws Amendment Bill, which would give the FIC explicit authority to conduct lifestyle audits. If enacted, these powers would enable the FIC to proactively identify and drill down on suspected money laundering and illicit financial flows by accessing public databases and sharing data with other agencies, strengthening South Africa’s ability to uncover hidden funds and enforce anti-money-laundering laws. We got a voicenote from Kyle that’s got the whole “fair vs feelings” debate going. Kyle and his twin brother both play rugby at school. Same house, same age, same sport — but not the same outcome. Kyle’s been selected to play provincial rugby… his twin hasn’t. Now here’s the twist: his parents are asking Kyle to withdraw from the team because they think it’ll be too emotionally hard for his brother to deal with being left out. So Kyle’s basically being told to shrink his moment so his brother doesn’t feel bad. Anele, you said you knew parents like this in high school — the ones who try to keep everything “equal” even when life just isn’t. But is that actually fair? Would you tell one child not to shine in maths because their sibling struggles? Or is this how resentment between brothers is born? Is this protecting feelings… or punishing achievement? What do you guys think Kyle should do? Hang out with Anele and The Club on 947 every weekday morning. We spoke to Mr Gugulethu Quma, Manager of Electro-Mechanical, about the ongoing water supply issues affecting parts of Joburg. He explained that the problems started on 27 January with a power failure at Rand Water’s Zuikerbosch treatment plant, which hit supply while pumping was already reduced due to emergency valve work at Palmiet. Although there was some improvement in the Midrand system later that week, another power failure at the Palmiet Pump Station on 31 January caused further strain. On top of that, a leak at the Klipfontein Reservoir was detected, with repairs underway, while reservoir levels are slowly recovering but still critically low. Candice, who wants to stay anonymous, says her husband has a locked safe in his cupboard at home, and she doesn’t know the code. When she asks about it, he says it’s just for “important documents,” but she still feels uneasy being completely shut out. Now she’s wondering: in a marriage, is it normal to have something that private, or is this a red flag? Is it about security and organization… or secrecy and trust? It raises the bigger relationship question: where’s the line between personal privacy and hiding things from your partner? Hang out with Anele and The Club on 947 every weekday morning. That “sit down, this is a classic” moment. The film you’ve already decided is part of their childhood whether they like it or not
Thabang just started a new job at a bank and has already walked into workplace politics. The whole team seems to dislike one admin lady, Eliane, and there’s an unspoken expectation that he shouldn’t like her either. The twist? She’s actually been kind and welcoming to him. Now he’s stuck in that awkward new-guy position: fit in with the group or judge someone based on his own experience. We sat down with two real-life lifesavers whose jobs kick in when everyone else is panicking. Dr Thandeka Ngcana, South Africa’s first Pediatric Neuro-Oncologist, pediatrician, medical oncologist at Chris Hani Baragwanath, former helicopter emergency services doctor — and a mom of two — shared critical medical advice every parent and adult should know. Alongside her was Kyle Nesbitt, Chairman of Search and Rescue South Africa (SARZA) Gauteng, a seasoned volunteer with over a decade of frontline rescue experience, from flood operations in Limpopo to disaster relief missions in Mozambique. Together, they broke down what to actually do in real emergencies: cars trapped in floodwater, choking, head injuries, drowning, snake bites, kids swallowing button batteries, and getting lost while hiking. They busted dangerous myths, explained the biggest mistakes people make under pressure, and highlighted the one simple life-saving skill everyone should learn. It’s practical, calm, expert advice that could one day make the difference between panic… and survival. Hang out with Anele and The Club on 947 every weekday morning. We’re talking about the objects in your house that meant SO much to you… that when they finally died, it felt like you deserved to lower them into the ground and say a few words. Not a person. A lot of you will remember the story we’ve been following about Peanut , the little dog who became the centre of a really emotional family situation. Peanut had been living with Jen for years, part of her daily life, her routine, her home. Then her sister returned from overseas after six years and wanted Peanut back. It was complicated, emotional, and you could hear how much love and tension was wrapped up in that decision. Today, Jen came back with an update none of us expected... This isn’t just another album; she’s described it as a musical universe designed to be experienced piece by piece, guiding listeners through emotional and thematic worlds rather than just a collection of songs. Lady Zamar has already teased this chapter with singles like “Russian Roulette,” “Show Me” (feat. Fido), “Come My Way,” and “Inini Newe” with Zimbabwean star Jah Prayzah — each one acting as a story beat building toward the bigger picture of “Awakening.” The official launch is happening at a private event in Sandton on 29 January, where media and tastemakers will get the first full experience of this emotional and musical journey. This new chapter isn’t just music, it’s a statement, and fans are ready for it Hang out with Anele and The Club on 947 every weekday morning. Which age do you never want your kids to be again? Be honest. The age that drained you. The age that tested your patience, your sleep, your sanity… and your bank balance. The tantrum era. The “why?” phase. The teenage attitude years where everything is a fight. OR Which age do you wish you could go back to? The cuddly stage. The cute mispronunciations. When they thought you knew everything. An age where life felt simpler, laughter was easier, and they still needed you just a little bit more. Same child. Different ages. Very different parents. Women Are Buying More Houses Than Men – Here’s Why That’s Happening Recent property market data shows that more women are purchasing homes than men in South Africa, whether on their own or jointly as buyers. In fact, women now own a larger share of residential properties than men do, and single women are buying homes at nearly twice the rate of single men. So, what’s behind this shift? On the surface, there’s a few real-world trends at play: economic independence, changing family dynamics, and women prioritising long-term security through property. With more women in the workforce, longer life expectancies, and nearly half of marriages ending in divorce, owning a home has become a form of financial empowerment and futureproofing rather than just a “couple’s thing.” Women today aren’t waiting. Some get asked why they waited so long, only for them to point out that it’s not because they couldn’t afford it, it’s often about social expectations: “You’re going to make your husband feel insecure…” Hang out with Anele and The Club on 947 every weekday morning. With All Due Respect - Less aggro, more conversation. Is it even possible to have a deep discussion without it descending into chaos? Michael Jensen and Megan Powell du Toit think yes, and want to show the rest of us how to do it. There’s plenty of things they disagree on: free will, feminism, where you should send your kids to school and what type of church you should go to. But there are also plenty of other things that they have in common. They want to talk about all these things with conviction. But they also want the conversation to be constructive. Tune in to find out if that’s possible. Episode Summary: In the latest episode of "With All Due Respect," hosts Megan Powell du Toit and Michael Jensen dive into the complex and timely topic of immigration in Australia. This conversation couldn't be more pertinent as recent protests, the March for Australia, have stirred national debate about whether the country faces an immigration problem and how people, especially Christians, should respond. The discussion progresses to explore the nuanced aspects of immigration, including its impact on cultural identity, the rising presence of non-Christian faiths, and how statistics can often misrepresent the real picture, creating unwarranted fear and tension. Joining the conversation is Jeri Jones Sparks, a Tamil Indian Australian with an active ministry presence, who shares her experiences and insights on living as an immigrant and working within the church to foster intercultural understanding. The episode further highlights the gripping SBS series "The Secret DNA of Us," which unveils the hidden ethnic makeup of Australian towns. This, coupled with stories of individual ancestry, shines a light on Australia's multifaceted identity. This episode is a must-listen for anyone interested in the intersection of religion, culture, and social policy. Key Takeaways: Immigration Debate: Recent protests have highlighted the complexity surrounding immigration in Australia, often fueled by misinformation and political agendas. Cultural and Religious Shifts: Australia's demographic changes bring both challenges and opportunities as the country navigates a more multicultural and religiously diverse population. Christian Response: The necessity for Christians to redefine what it means to engage with 'the other,' drawing from biblical examples of how to treat foreigners among us. Intercultural Church Dynamics: The importance of churches evolving towards interculturalism, incorporating various cultural perspectives to enhance community and belonging. Understanding Heritage: Emotional and personal journeys uncovering one's ancestry, as showcased in the SBS series, can redefine individual and communal identity. Notable Quotes: "We're not as good at estimating numbers or proportions. It all comes through filters of bias." — Megan Powell du Toit "I think there's going to be some kind of shift in our normal of engaging with cultural commentary." — Jeri Jones Sparks "It's really messy. There's going to be conflict. But there's something gospel-hearted in how it shapes our gathering." — Jeri Jones Sparks "The church has a lot to teach our society by modeling that kind of internationalism, that kind of welcome which is blind to race." — Michael Jensen "When we know that it's God who appoints where and when all people should live, who are the people that God has put around us?" — Jeri Jones Sparks Resources: Satya Network SBS TV Series: The Secret DNA of Us ABC online article by Michael Jensen on Immigration This season of With All Due Respect is sponsored by Morling College, a Christ-centred higher-education institution shaped by its Baptist heritage and broad evangelical vision.
