In my kitchen this week I am joined by Loui Blake who has pioneered the plant-based space since he turned Vegan nearly 10 years ago and has never looked back. Loui started off by working in the nightlife industry and also recruitment to which he then fell into some unhealthy habits which resulted in chronic fatigue and burnout. After researching many diets and ways of changing his lifestyle in order to have more energy he came across Dr. Sebi's Alkaline Plant-Based diet which he did for a month and has never looked back since. After witnessing the results of the plant-based diet first hand Loui wanted to tell the world about how amazing he felt and in doing so he decided to re-direct is career to promoting the plant-based diet. This started with his first restaurant in Norwich called Erpingham House which was one of the first plant-based restaurants in the area, although a challenging journey it didn't put Loui off opening more restaurants in Norwich and London. Loui has founded Kalifornia Kitchen and Vegan Dough Co, as well as being a partner in by CHLOE.Loui also has an impressive investment portfolio including brands such as Floozie, Club Cultured and his most recent investment into Miami Foods, to which he is now the CEO.Miami Foods is an alternative protein brand which focuses on clean and natural ingredients, as quoted by Miami Foods, 'great tasting food, without the bad stuff'. After launching it in the UK Loui is now expanding into UAE as well as many other international markets. As you can see Loui has quite the portfolio in the plant-based space and therefore this was a fascinating conversation where we covered the following topics:Life before turning VeganTurning Vegan overnight and the way it made him feel His relationship with food Healthy Foods and what that means Opening his first Vegan restaurant, Epringham House in 2016His career in the plant-based space His experience as an investorWhat he looks for when investing into a brandMiami Foods and his journey to becoming the CEOThe UAE and the plant-based industry His daily wellness practicesSleepTo find out where you can get your hands on Miami Food products head to https://www.miamifoods.co/To get your hands on a copy of my e-book click the link https://greedyvegan.uk/products/simply-delicious-plant-based-dishes-to-make-you-eat-better-and-live-well Hosted on Acast. What are the foundations of well-being and mental health? It's a subject to which this week's mind mover, Loui Blake, has given plenty of thought. In this week's episode, the entrepreneur shares thoughts on using plant medicine to heal trauma, the value of adversity and why there is only one person who really matters. Loui also challenges listeners to ask: “What would happen if I lost everything today?” Search deep, and the answer might just surprise you… In This Episode 01.09 - Meeting Loui 03.38 - Retreats, trauma and healing 13.52 - Systems Vs goals 18.39 - Systems, goals and purpose 27.27 - Challenge and adversity 38.44 - Entrepreneurship 43.54 - Foundations and solutions 54.58 - Veganism and the man in the arena 01.03.15 - Proudest moments About Loui Blake Loui Blake is an entrepreneur, investor and public speaker. He is the founder of the award-winning Erpingham House vegan restaurant and several casual restaurant concepts. In 2020, Lui co-founded Gamechangers Investments for the hospitality industry and, in 20022, became CEO of Miami Foods.
Loui Blake is a serial plant based entrepreneur and is currently the CEO of Miami Foods, a company built open making a green revolution away from our meat industry.Having set up a football coaching academy, a nightlife promotion business and a recruitment agency, Loui's life pivoted after an awakening at a ritual ceremony, pushing him on a path to self transformation.Having grown up in Norfolk, his wonderlust has taken his working ventures to New York, Mexico, Miami and London. He explains how he got his foot in the door with one of the country's biggest food chains, Wagamamas, and helped them grow their vegan Katsu. But being a business owner isn't always glitz and glamour, and Loui shows a vulnerable side that most people don't get to see. With payroll looming and not enough funds in the bank, we discuss the intense pressures owners face in keeping the lights on, which sadly couldn't be done at the recently insolvent Erpingham House. The depression and anxious states from not understanding your path can be destructive, so listening to a man open up about this journey is inspiring. We talk about how to raise finance from investors, what's important when looking to angel invest in new companies and the most vital character traits of a true entrepreneur. For me, this podcast is all about pushing boundaries, which is demonstrated by his recent 100km ultramarathon in Tuscany and the challenges it faced. If you want to listen to a rollercoaster ride, then this one is for you.

I went for the CBD coffee, and ended up thinking a lot more about eating plants. Loui Blake runs Erpingham House in Norwich, the UK's largest vegan restaurant. As a committed meat eater, I thought I'd feel a bit out of place, but Loui's all about welcoming in people like me and showing us that plants don't need to be boring. It's a great place, and Loui is really inspirational. He's already made me reconsider some of my unthinking animal consumption practices. Still eating flesh, but maybe thinking about it a little less. On my trip to Norwich something went wrong with one of my microphones. Loui sounds clear, I sound far away, hopefully this doesn't distract from the listening experience too much. It may even improve it.
