Since building their friendship on the dancefloors of Glasgow, Illyus & Barrientos have earned an expansive career by sculpting and creating their trademark sound of raw and funky house music, laced with an infectious energy which radiates off the pair behind the decks. Gracing the back catalogues of Defected, Suara, Toolroom, Exploited Records and Glasgow Underground has catapulted the duo into the electronic soundscape, sharing their sounds throughout all corners of the globe with shows in Space Ibiza, Ministry of Sound, The Arches, Riverside Festival and of course, Egg LDN. Returning to the club with their Toolroom family once again, the pair have provided a chunky mix for us, packed with percussive energy and deep, infectious hooks. The perfect warm up to Toolroom's takeover coming up 3rd February.

Hamburg isn’t the first city you think off when you consider global hubs for nightlife, but Hamburg has turned out to be the quiet achiever. Recently named as the world's number one city for nightlife, Hamburg has well and truly situated itself as a destination for nocturnal activities. And right in the middle of that is local heroes Adana Twins (btw they aren’t real twins)… Formed in 2006, Adana Twins was forged through a platform of laid-back hip-hop alongside techno. Their 2012 Exploited Records offering, ‘Strange’ and ‘Everyday’, really showcased their wide-ranging musical upbringing (‘Strange’ was a tribute towards 60’s act The Doors) - and also opened them up to a global audience. 

Since then, the duo has been on a production tear, their deep take on house endearing themselves wherever they play. Of late, they have started to dabble with a more muscular techno sound, point in case the recent outdoor festival-sounding throb of ‘Uncompromising, released earlier this year on fellow Hamburg producer Solomon’s Diynamic imprint (it also spent a fair amount of time on the Beatport charts). The duo will be heading to Australia and New Zealand over the new year with dates at festivals like Beyond the Valley and Earth just outside of Melbourne, Space Ibiza in Sydney and also Rhythm and Alps in New Zealand. Other dates include the Tiny Dancer NYD event in Melbourne and Revolver Upstairs the week after. Davis ft Cameo Culture - Blind Bio: The spanish duo from La Mancha has captured the attention of industry heavyweight curators since their debut on Dirtybird Records with their EP “Mude Tod” late in 2015. Their melodic deep house sound covered with sultry vocals has characterized enigmatic tracks like “Murnau” released under German techno label Kittball Records and “Crosses and Angels” through Guy Mantzur’s Plattenbank Records with a remix by Guy J. The track was selected to be in Tomorrowland’s 2016 CD compilation with their appearance on Belgium’s megafestival scheduled for July 22 on the Cubanisto Stage. After launching last October, Lopezhouse has since been on the road through their native Spain and recently completing a PR Tour in Mexico together with Sugel Gamal and Residencia Gorila. The tour started in Mexico City’s landmark Rodhesia Social Club on May 20th, followed by an intense booking and audiovisual effort in collaboration with Gorila, an artist's’ studio and residence located on the Tulum beach, that produced 3 live sets, several interviews, a music video and mixed media content during their 10-date engagement around the Maya Riviera, presenting both their DJ and live set acts in various stages. While in Tulum, the duo completed their most recent EP which includes “See The Line” and “Encrypted Name” in collaboration with their Spanish colleague Affkt, released through Exploited Records. The track includes vocals by their secret weapon, Angela, bringing a dark undertone to the elegantly mixed tracks. After Tomorrowland, the duo has engagements on both sides of the ocean, EP releases and a few other surprises that will pile on the short and already exceptional trajectory of Lopezhouse. Since 1991,Oscar G., along with partner Ralph Falcon stormed the world of dance music as Murk, releasing a string of underground classics that would forever hold them a place in the history of House music. We therefore couldn’t wish for a more exciting guest to have on episode 34 of The Gangstercast. As one half of the Murk, Oscar G. has remixed the likes of pop stars such as Madonna, Seal, Donna Summer, Jennifer Lopez and Pet Shop Boys, while Murk have been responsible for eight Billboard #1's including club anthems such as "Fired Up" and the ever popular "Dark Beat". He is in high demand as a songwriter having won 4 ASCAP songwriter awards with Ralph Falcon. His success as a producer/songwriter aside, Oscar's true passion remains DJing, and it’s a real honour to have him lay down an exclusive mix for us. Oscar says, “This mix is an example of how I don't fit into any genre boxes…House,Techno and then some. I try to tell a story in my sets, take people for a ride, this is a small taste of that. I like to select music as I am mixing, so I just basically feel it out as I go. The mix includes our new DJ Sneak & Murk collaboration titled "To The Bassline". The song features vocals by my talented friends El Chino Dreadlion and Leslie Cartaya. It is out now on Exploited Records.” Oscar is regarded as "one of the most exciting DJs in the world" by Mixer magazine and having played at legendary venues like Ministry of Sound in London, Pacha in Ibiza, Yellow in Tokyo, Echoes in Italy and Twilo and Vynil in New York, the passion he has had since the age of 12 remains in tact. Asked about what the House Gangster movement and sound represent to him, Oscar replies, “It means a certain vibe and a certain attitude. It means Sneakishness! [It’s] Toasted chunks of filth. And [House Music] means a lifetime commitment..a never ending love affair.”
