In this special episode of Super Progressive, I sit down with Paul van Dyk. We chat about the evolution of progressive house and trance, the fluid boundaries between genres in the 90s, and the iconic clubs that shaped the electronic music scene, from his early days in Berlin's underground to his unforgettable residency at New York's Twilo. We also delve into the significance of the Love Parade and the DIY ethos that fueled the scene's growth. This interview comes just ahead of Paul's new album, ‘This World Is Ours'. This album, due for release on April 11th via his VANDIT Records imprint, is his first studio album in five years. Follow Paul van Dyk:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/paulvandyk/Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/7wU1naftD3lNq7rNsiDvOR?si=o1E2GKgWReCy81axx_6cBgFollow Super Progressive: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/superprogressive/Progressive Radar Spotify Playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5vo7k99U183tW0lwqsWqQ7?si=f8d5f804df6c4479#dj #trance #housemusic

For the Thirteenth episode of There Is No Planet Earth Stories I'm  Join by guest Doc Martin  representing stories from San Francisco & Los AngelesWe discuss a range of topics including his formative musical experiences in San Francisco, the Los Angeles scene in the early 90's and various parties and residencies held in those years, as well as the evolution of his DJ, and music production career over the years, and much more.A product of the 80's San Francisco dance music boom, DJ/Producer Doc Martin has been creating innovative, high-energy electronic music for nearly three decades. Once a mainstay on the Pacific Northwest scene, he has gone on to perform everywhere from Ibiza to Tokyo, London and beyond, creating an enduring body of work in the process. Now, as he enters a new phase of his career, Doc shows no signs of slowing down, as he continues to evolve, revealing new sides of his artistry as he releases the most compelling music of his career.  Doc Martin's choice to pursue a career in music was an obvious one, given the musical family he grew up in. Most notably, his mother sang with Bay Area icons Jefferson Starship.Doc, however, was more interested in absorbing the various electronic subcultures that were emerging around the country. Endless hours spent in SF's indie record stores armed him with an expertise in everything from acid house to techno, as he developed the genre bending style that would come to define his career.  Within a few years of his first performance, Doc was selling out shows across his hometown, and began setting his sights on bigger things. In the early 90's, he relocated to Los Angeles, where he quickly integrated himself into the city's thriving rave scene. Not long after, his profile had risen enough for him to be invited to Europe to play at some of the continent's most iconic clubs and parties, including Fabric(Residency), Circoloco, The Rex, Panorama Bar, and Sunwaves to name a few,. In the ensuing decades, he became a favorite amongst audiences from New York to London, performing regularly at clubs including Output, Coachella, The Roxy, Twilo, City Fox, Space, Desert Hearts, Movement, and Lightning in a bottle After three decades of bringing people together with music, Doc Martin's passion and drive remain as strong as ever. He maintains a steady schedule of performances across the globe while continuing to release new tracks regularly. As the rare artist to achieve the status of elder-statesman, he has left a lasting legacy in electronic music, a legacy which he continues to add to every day. Also played with James Brown/Grace Jones/Tour Dj for Deee-lite,Support the show

Whoever first thought to take the sounds of gospel and add a beat underneath (I'm just gonna go ahead and credit the iconic Frankie Knuckles) must have been one of the greatest pioneers of house music of all time. Frankie once said that clubs are “like church... by the time the preacher gets going, the whole room becomes one.” House lovers often refer to the dance floor as church. And some of the most joyous moments I've experienced at a club have been courtesy of gospel house. I vividly remember going to Twilo and Body & Soul in the late-'90s and hearing tracks for the first time from Sounds of Blackness, Jasper Street Co., Su Su Bobien, Vernessa Mitchell, Barbara Tucker, and Kim English that completely changed my outlook towards music. I've been meaning to put together a gospel house mix for quite some time now (ever since playing a full gospel house set at the Church of Now at Burning Man in 2019), and a recent trip this holiday season to Portland to hear the Northwest Community Gospel Chorus gave me the inspiration that I finally needed. So, rather than your typical house, tech house, or disco set, here's 90 minutes (I could have easily made this 5 hours!) of pure praise for the lord - a dance floor journey of uplifting and soulful calls for love and redemption. There are classics here interspersed with brand-new tracks from this year, with reinterpretations sprinkled throughout. If this mix doesn't have you shouting “Hallelujah!” by the end of it… then I don't know how to help ya!Please listen and enjoy! And if you feel inspired, please repost and share. In this episode of the Future of Application Security, Harshil speaks with Ariel Shin, Senior Product Security Engineer at Twilio, a company that provides businesses the tools to connect with customers through automated messaging. Ariel shares the story of how she implemented a democratized, centralized vulnerability management program at Twilio, which included conducting interviews to gauge the current state of vulnerability management, designing a new process that got everyone on the same page, getting buy-in by going on a roadshow across the company, and how they're currently managing the program after rollout. Topics discussed: Ariel's journey through Twilo's acquisition of Segment, going from a culture of a few hundred developers to a few thousand building many different projects. How Ariel designed and implemented a democratized, centralized vulnerability management process by getting buy-in from security, engineering, and leadership, and socializing the process. The importance of a centralized vulnerability management process to reduce confusion and easily see all vulnerabilities in one place, and how to make risk everyone's responsibility. How, in order to uncover problems to address, Ariel interviewed security team members, developers, engineers, and other stakeholders, and created a flowchart of the current state of vulnerability management. The necessity of approaching security holistically, and not thinking about security just in terms of the industries or silos created in an organization. Identifying the pain points of an organization's security approach, and how to use those pain points to articulate the change needed for an organization. How Ariel rolled out the new vulnerability management program through a roadshow across the organization, articulating what the changes were and how they improved security to increase buy-in. How Ariel and the security team created three dashboards so stakeholders could better understand their security posture: one for ticket triage, one for engineers to understand the tickets, and the third for leadership.

A rare, revealing interview with the long-time Circoloco resident. For many years, Andrew Grant was one of Circoloco's most ubiquitous DJs. He landed on the White Isle in the summer of 2001, having spent a few months in Sheffield, England, DJing whenever and wherever he could. Yet, in spite of his widespread public appearances, Grant's personal accounts of his past are little known given his reclusive character—until now. For this week's exchange, host Marcus Barnes engaged in a candid conversation with Andrew Grant about his experiences grinding in the clubbing Mecca, teaching lacrosse in the northern UK and even working briefly as DC10's light technician. Raised in Baltimore, Grant's first musical memories involved listening to Baltimore club radio stations late at night. Back then, he wasn't allowed to listen to radio, so he'd have to do so quietly and away from prying ears. He recalls catching the Basement Boys remix of the Crystal Waters club classic, “Gypsy Woman (She's Homeless),” on MTV, feeling inspired by the fact these artists on the TV were from his hometown. When Grant first began DJing in 1988, he was spinning hip-hop records at house parties and in basements across the city. “I had a box of records and a decent pair of headphones,” he tells Barnes. “I felt like I was doing the right thing.” It wasn't until a visit to NYC club Twilo in the mid-'90s that he really began to engage with dance music. A few years down the line, in Ibiza, Grant caught his first big break—he was invited to play a Thursday morning after party at DC10. Not long after, he was playing primetime slots on a Monday at Circoloco, before becoming the first American resident of the iconic Ibiza brand when he was just 24-years-old.

030: Danny Tenaglia. Danny Tenaglia is one of the most well respected DJs in the scene and, with his huge musical knowledge and passion for his craft, is often cited as the DJ's DJ. Growing up in Brooklyn New York, Danny was musically inspired by tapes of local DJs as well as his visits to The Loft and the Paradise Garage. After buying some equipment and playing at many local venues, Danny moved to Miami in 1985 and it's here he introduced a new sound called house music to his enraptured audience. Then perfectly placed to star at Miami's new Winter Music Conference event, Danny would play epically long sets that got him noticed amongst the industry and, after moving back to New York, he would go on to regularly play alongside Sasha & Digweed at his legendary residency at Twilo as well as create his own iconic night called "Be Yourself" at Vinyl. In our chat we cover all of this and also find out the production secrets behind his biggest successes as well as get his thoughts on his own future as a DJ in the scene. Pyramids of sand march into the distance as night began to settle over the dunes... Hailing from Montreal with Lebanese/Persian roots, formerly known as BiG AL, BiGz is surely one of the longest serving, globally renowned and respected Middle Eastern DJs on the planet, starting his extensive career back in 1989. Having fallen in love with music at a very young age, his journey evolved naturally, leading him to the New York underground house sound. BiGz was among the first to import western club music and culture back to his native Lebanon where he hosted the primary radio show spoken in the English language; playing underground House Music and Disco imported from the USA and Europe. But in a civil war torn country, it was time to spread his wings and search for the source. Arriving to the USA in the early 90’s, BiGz became a regular club kid at the Sound Factory, Red Zone, Limelight, Shelter, Tunnel, Twilo, Palladium/Arena, Arc/Vinyl and other seminal venues, soaking up sounds laid down by Junior Vasquez, Danny Tenaglia, Masters At Work, Roger Sanchez, Frankie Knuckles, Tony Humphries, Francois K. and more. His warm demeanor, powerhouse work-ethic and boundless talent have kept him at the epicenter of electronic music for almost three decades, with absolutely no signs of slowing down. Whether behind the decks, in the studio, touring or showcasing new artists via his networks, BiGz continues his ceaseless mission: to tell a story, educate, diffuse good vibes, be the liaison between the old-school and the contemporary while always pushing the sonic barriers to bring exceptional sound quality and music to the world. The Robot Heart On the Rise of Playa Tech. //  DJ Three is a name that's been on a lot of lips lately, thanks largely to several successive years of extremely popular podcasts recorded live at Burning Man. But this Robot Heart regular, who dismisses, "playa tech is the new dubstep," discovered dance music about as far from the Black Rock Desert as you can get, in the Central Florida rave scene of the early 90s. It was a era that left an indelible mark on the America rave consciousness, spawning local heroes like Rabbit in the Moon and Kimball Collins, but also acting as an early port of call for European DJs such as Sasha and Digweed, and Paul Van Dyk, for whom cities like Tampa, Orlando and Gainesville were early ports of entry on their way to the top of the American club scene. Though he's called New York home for over a decade (with residencies at Twilo and Output to prove his bona fides), Three's eclectic brand of trippy four-four music (he once ran a label called Hallucination, now cleverly updated to Hallucienda) has made him one of those beloved DJs DJ types, with supporters like Laurent Garnier, Doc Martin and Damian Lazarus. He's able to speak intelligently about all shades of techno and house, regardless of their place of origin, which made him the ideal guest for Episode 30 of Rave Curious.

Danny Tenaglia Has Seen It All Behind The Decks From Yoko Ono to overdoses, the New York legend talk about 30 years of DJing on the Rave Curious Podcast. The first Rave Curious Podcast of 2016 offers a nice long conversation with New York's genre-hopping veteran Danny Tenaglia. From his legendary series of NYC residencies in the '90s and early '00s—Roxy, Twilo, Vinyl—to his equally renowned marathon parties at Winter Music Conference, DT (as his fans call him) has been at the epicenter of the dance music world for 30 years. And while it's been mostly good times, like hanging at the Paradise Garage and working with Yoko Ono, he's not afraid to detail the challenges he's seen after three decades in clubland. "It was too much becoming about the ketamine, the crystal meth, the GHB," he admits, regarding the crash of the New York scene in the late-90s when he first became a star. "Ambulances, hospital visits...the community boards got sick of it." And while he admits to a few nights of early-2000s Ibiza excess during our hour-long conversation in his Hollywood hotel, the 54-year-old Tenaglia is a shining example of a DJ who's maintained his youthful spirit. Learn how he did it by downloading the Rave Curious Podcast.

Gangstercast 46 comes from the fabulous Honey Dijon. Based in NYC but Born and raised in Chicago; the home of house music, Honey is known for her unique take on the Chicago sound with inflections of the deep New York underground. Honey is one of the few DJ’s in recent years to defy pigeon-holing. She draws from a wide repertoire of musical styles from old school Chicago House, disco, tech house, tribal, funk, soul, and R& B. She has graced the tables from Ministry of Sound London to Ushuaia Ibiza, Panorama Bar Berlin, Stereo Montreal and everywhere in between. She has also shared the decks with none other Danny Tenaglia, Derrick Carter, Green Velvet, The Martinez Brothers, Satoshi Tomiie, and Quentin Harris. Like many involved in the scene, her love affair with music began upon hearing her parent’s soul and r&b records at home. Soon she wanted to be the one dropping the needle on the record whenever they held parties in the family basement and the lure of club life soon followed. Before long she was obsessively collecting her own music from record stores, which is where Honey met and formed a long lasting friendship with Derrick Carter, who became a mentor. It was he who introduced her to the underground of Chicago where she was exposed to the sounds of jacking house and Detroit techno. After relocating to New York City, Honey also met another music giant Danny Tenaglia, whose legendary sets at Twilo were also a major source of inspiration. “Danny heavily influenced my sound as a DJ’, says Honey. “The drama of his delivery and risk taking always informed me of how I wanted to present music. Of course, Derrick and Chicago house were also very influential in my development as an artist, so it’s this combination of Chicago and New York that has helped me develop my signature sound.” Known for her passion and integrity in her sets, this week Honey takes us back to the old skool sound, with this hugely authentic mix, fusing the bump of Chicago with more classic New York sounds and other European influences, dexterously flowing between house and techno, with a warm, hypnotic feel.  The art of mixing itself is very important to Honey, and when telling us of the tracks she chose in compiling this mix, she explained; “I did a bit of research and did a bit of crate digging to try and give a bit of swing and soul but in a modern way.” When explaining to us how this particular mix represented her as an artist, she told us; “Well being from Chicago, I wanted to mix a bit of my roots with what's happening in dance music at the moment. Since there has been a resurgence of House in Europe, I felt it was the perfect time to pull out a few forgotten classics.” Being a firm believer in the underground sound, and being a protector of the faith, When asked what the House Gangster movement means to her, she replies; “I just feel it's a gang of like-minded people representing the love of house and paying respects to where it came from and to also where it’s going.” Honey describes the ‘House Gangster sound’ as “Boompty but with guts and soul! Also with a bit of a techy edge top to it”

This is the first of many from Boston's Dusk Till Done crew and friends. We were lucky to have our very special friend, Mr. Danny Howells, grace our decks for close to 1.5 hours at a recent event. We hope you enjoy as much as we did, and more to follow soon... Bio: Danny is one of the few DJs on the scene today that truly has a style of his own. With his passion for all styles of music and infectious personality, Danny has created a unique, eclectic sound that has established him as one of the most in demand DJs in the world. Danny is one of the hardest working and most dedicated individuals in the business with over 20 years experience and a hectic touring schedule that constantly takes him around the world. He's played in the world's coolest clubs and held residencies at places such as Arc, Ministry of Sound, Twilo, Renaissance, The End, and Bedrock, as well as his own Dig Deeper nights worldwide. With a back catalogue of well received mix albums under his belt, he has previously compiled acclaimed mixes for Global Underground, being the only DJ to contribute to not only the main series with his Miami album, but also the 24:7 and Nu-Breed Series. In addition to this, he also compiled a cd for Azuli's Choice series, as well as albums for Renaissance along with three volumes of his own Nocturnal Frequencies series. As a producer he has been responsible for many stand out tracks, including the timeless Persuasion/Repercussion on Bedrock Records, Breathe on Renaissance Records and Kinkyfunk on Yoshitoshi Records. He also hit the charts in 2004 with the Miami hit Dusk till Dawn, which featured the talents of Dick Trevor and Erire. Danny has also had massive dance-floor success with Deep Dish as "Size DDD" and the Eminem sampling "Nobody Listens To Techno". In more recent years he has been focusing on original productions for his own Dig Deeper label, the likes of which have been licensed to mix albums by artists such as Juan Maclean on his DJ Kicks album, and Cassy for her recent compilation on Cocoon. On the remix front Danny has previously mixed records such as Roachford's "Ride The Storm", Madonna's "Get Together", Marco Bailey's "Smooth Drive", and Bent's "Waiting For You". Other artists that have received the remix treatment include We Deliver, Stryke, International Observer, Robbie Williams, David Morales, BT, Chakra, Coco and Stonebridge, Destiny's Child and many more, including most recently Felix Da Housecat's purple tribute, "We All Wanna Be Prince". Building on his discography of original productions is a major priority for Danny, as his Dig Deeper label enters it's third year. Danny has come a long way since his early beginnings in his hometown of Hastings, though his complete love of all music remains the same. Danny is a DJ with a broad musical taste who likes anything from jazz to rock, to pop and anything a bit bizarre. He likes to champion his own special tracks and records that nobody else has latched on to and has a way of combining cutting edge grooves with crowd pleasing dynamics that enable him to connect with his audience making him one of the hottest DJs in the world.

I'm A House Gangster presents The Gangstercast

Since 1991,Oscar G., along with partner Ralph Falcon stormed the world of dance music as Murk, releasing a string of underground classics that would forever hold them a place in the history of House music. We therefore couldn’t wish for a more exciting guest to have on episode 34 of The Gangstercast. As one half of the Murk, Oscar G. has remixed the likes of pop stars such as Madonna, Seal, Donna Summer, Jennifer Lopez and Pet Shop Boys, while Murk have been responsible for eight Billboard #1's including club anthems such as "Fired Up" and the ever popular "Dark Beat". He is in high demand as a songwriter having won 4 ASCAP songwriter awards with Ralph Falcon. His success as a producer/songwriter aside, Oscar's true passion remains DJing, and it’s a real honour to have him lay down an exclusive mix for us. Oscar says, “This mix is an example of how I don't fit into any genre boxes…House,Techno and then some. I try to tell a story in my sets, take people for a ride, this is a small taste of that. I like to select music as I am mixing, so I just basically feel it out as I go. The mix includes our new DJ Sneak & Murk collaboration titled "To The Bassline". The song features vocals by my talented friends El Chino Dreadlion and Leslie Cartaya. It is out now on Exploited Records.” Oscar is regarded as "one of the most exciting DJs in the world" by Mixer magazine and having played at legendary venues like Ministry of Sound in London, Pacha in Ibiza, Yellow in Tokyo, Echoes in Italy and Twilo and Vynil in New York, the passion he has had since the age of 12 remains in tact. Asked about what the House Gangster movement and sound represent to him, Oscar replies, “It means a certain vibe and a certain attitude. It means Sneakishness! [It’s] Toasted chunks of filth. And [House Music] means a lifetime commitment..a never ending love affair.”

Gayle San (SIN) - NightVision Techno PODCAST 48 Pt. 2 Bio: Gayle's first steps into the London clubs were via DJing at record company parties, various one-off guest spots and fashion shows. These slots soon led to Gayle being made resident at 'Reach for the Sky' at London's Limelight club, where she played alongside global DJs which Gayle describes as "the steepest learning curve possible". Having honed her DJing skills and broadened her understanding of music, Gayle began to experiment with the harder side of dance music, particularly the lesser known techno sounds coming into Britain from Europe and the US of that time. Her chance to pioneer this music in England came when Gayle became resident at Universe's legendary Final Frontier club, at Club U.K. in south London, which then moved on to become Universe Voyager at their new club, the Complex in north London, and she was also resident at all the Tribal Gatherings Festivlas. Final frontier was widely regarded as one of the best club nights in the world, it was not long before Gayle had amassed a following of techno pilgrims who would make journeys from as far as Edinburgh to hear her play. Gayle's reputation of her 3 decks mixing skills and dj sets spread like wildfire over the techno centres of Europe, most notably a residency once a month at the legendary Omen club in Frankfurt, the socalled 'Mecca of techno' that opened doors.Other European and American dates have included some of the most underground clubs in the world, from playing at high profile parties for Prince,Chaka Khan and Kylie minogue to name a few, to playing clubs like Bionic in Detroit, Pure Pleasure parties in Chicago, Soma in Montreal, Twilo in New York, Zouk Club in Singapore, Florida 135 in Spain, Fuse Club in Belgium,M47 in Hungary and many more all over Europe ,South America and the U.S.A. In 2000 she was voted number 6. of the most popular international DJs in Germany. Remaining in the top ten list has been a regularity ever since. In regards to the massive competition of the worlds DJs,and to be the only female dj in the top ten, it was an honour of her hard work in the last years. DJing has naturally led to various studio work and starting her own label Equator. Gayle has developed a sound that takes the intelligent beats of the underground, funky/hard/groove techno sound mixed with her very own style.Gayle loves producing on her own but also enjoys collaborations with other producers to absorb outside creativity. She has released on numerous labels throughout europe .Gayle has reduced her touring dates in the last 2 years, not surprising after travelling the world for 18 years to make more time for her production /collaboration works.Gayle never fails to rock the world..s dancefloor with her mixing skills and her choice of music .Gayle has already been called the best female techno legend and she is not ready to hang up her headphones just yet. This was my first ever vinyl release on Derby, UK-based Sonambulist Recordings and was released in October 2001. The track was supported and charted by a lot of the better known progressive house jocks of the time. http://www.discogs.com/label/Sonambulist+Recordings There's a bit of a back story behind the writing of this record. Around the time this was produced Toronto, Canada (and arguably a lot of the Western underground electronic music world) was going through a massive progressive house wave. Sasha & Digweed, as well as other influential progressive house DJs held down a residency at now-legendary New York City-based club 'Twilo'. The sound was dark, druggy, tribal and euphoric. There were a few key cities in the world pushing this sound and Toronto was one of them. Buenos Aires, London, Liverpool, Manchester, New York and a few other cities were really pushing this sound. With that, there were also several really well known club nights. Renaissance (still around today) were one of those nights that defined the sound, along with Cream in Liverpool, Twilo in New York and a roughly 800 capacity basement club I frequented every Friday night called Breathe at System Soundbar. Breathe was the spiritual home for progressive house in Toronto. It's promoters Mike Greco and Jose Gonzalez were astute devotees to the genre and saw to it that even some of the more obscure artists from the genre got to play at Breathe - so much so that they often made their Canadian and sometimes even North American debuts. Anyway, this record was written largely after a rather 'awe-inspiring' (ahem) night spent at Breathe. Somehow, I managed to come home after spending 8 hours in a nightclub and write the majority of this. I only remember this because the chord breakdown was something I'd sort of ripped off from another record I heard the night before, but with my own twist. I recall being unable to wait to get back to the studio in excitement, as I wrote this track in my head on the hour-long journey back to my studio in Waterloo from Toronto. The pads are from a Roland JX-8P using the 'Soundtrack' patch that I tweaked a bit with the PG-800 controller. The kick drum is something I sampled from somewhere and put through my Yamaha A3000 MKII sampler that I spent $2200 on not too long before 2001 and is worth $100 now. The leads were re-sampled from the JX-8P, Roland Alpha Juno-1 and a few other sources I don't quite remember. One of the leads is from the sadly extinct TC Electronic Mercury-1 plugin that I used a lot back then. The drums outside of the kick are all samples I grabbed off of the Internet and from a friend who gave me a CD of classic drum machine samples. Finally the whispered sample of the man saying 'the fear' is from the classic sci-fi movie 'Dune', but I didn't say that. I don't recall how I hooked up with Sonambulist. Even for the Internet being in it's infancy compared to now, I still managed to be heavily connected to people all over the world through my knack (and often annoying) of gab/schmoozing/blagging. Somehow I managed to develop a relationship with Dale MacKenzie, who was part of Little Fluffy Records in Northern Ireland. He co-ran Sonambulist with Julian 'Jools' Foddey - a resident at Derby, UK-based night 'Progress'. At some point Dale became less and less involved with the label and dropped off the face of the earth, but not before I managed to help sign a few artists I found on then fledgling www.mp3.com website. I was originally looking to sign artists for my label that has never quite come to existence. Mp3.com was about 15 years ahead of it's time with it's business model - long before MySpace, Facebook, Bandcamp and all of the streaming websites out there. Sadly, it wasn't profitable and shut down. Julian and I are still somewhat in contact, although like many others from that time he is no longer involved with music. Instead, he went back to university to become a special effects guru for a London-based design house that works on all sorts of Hollywood movie blockbusters. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2575104/ I dare say he's probably doing much better at that. In the end, this record charted heavily on the then influential 'Balance Record Pool' charts, as well as the UK-based Buzz Chart and had Kiss FM radio plays from Graham Gold and a few others. Apparently it got some rather decent play on a Swiss station based upon the royalty statement from SOCAN that surprisingly showed up at my door several years later - $875 of it! It just goes to show you why it's essential you register with your local performing rights society! It was also short-listed for a Dave Seaman Global Underground mix CD, but I don't remember which one. Years later I found out the Cartouche remix of the track had made a compilation CD with the likes of Tiesto, Dave Clarke, etc. My 'career' in music never quite took off, but this is the record that kick-started it all and sold roughly 1150 copies give or take a few. I've never quite been able to surpass this release. In today's digital age that would probably make it a number one on Beatport's entire site - which is really sad!

Dylan Drazen live @ Club Reset, Madrid, Spain - NightVision Techno PODCAST 3 Pt. 2 160 minute techno set performed live at club reset in madrid. BIO: Dylan Drazen is one of America's most well traveled and globally respected techno DJs. Despite his nature to fly steadily below the world's Superstar DJ radar over the past decade, Dylan has gained legions of devoted fans in worldwide broadband bedrooms who purr at the thought of him appearing in their home town. Dylan is obsessed with finding and exposing new music. Professionally trained as a studio sound engineer, it was inevitable he'd start to create his own. His original productions have been showcased under esteemed labels like François K.'s Clicktracks and Chicago's Blueline, Montreal's Ascend and Sweden's G-Force. But most of his classic distorted hard techno work can be found in the archive of Brooklyn's Remains Records, run by Side Four co-pilot Tony Rohr. Several of Drazen's tracks have been licensed for DJ mixes, including compilations from Chris Liebing, Frankie Bones, Germany's Scranzwerk series, WaveTec, and Portugal's Kaos house imprint. Dylan's most recent studio credits come as mix engineer for large scale mix CD compilations, from Ultra Records' Out.Anthems (in which he has a featured track) to the underground New York 2 "tha" Bone double CD for 2007. The onset of Dylan Drazen's DJ career occurred in 1993; now he's performed in four continents and his musical memory is an encyclopedia of dance music history. When not on the road, he's either mining beats in his Brooklyn studio or diligently searching for set material in the troughs of New York's record shops. His productions span the arenas of house and techno--hard, tribal, deep, floating, pushing and swirling. Impossible to put to words, it's usually hour four into one of his extended sets where every style comes together--blending, lifting, causing a style unto its own. During performances, Dylan's preferred musical palate consists of three decks, a couple of CD players, a looping sampler and outboard effects. During his frequent shows in Spain it's typical to see him grabbing, twisting and manipulating clusters of knobs buttons and faders, all precisely moved to follow his momentary sonic path. They often call him "un máquina," chasing the inspiration flowing through him. Nothing is planned until seconds before it occurs, and when it does, it is extremely deliberate. Sometimes daring and unexpected but strangely fitting sounds are injected into the system on the fly, displaying a true love for his craft. Not afraid to experiment, he risks humiliation before thousands. Given a few hours of warming up, Dylan Drazen will challenge your taste and sense of what a DJ should be. Few master the flow of seamless genre shifting within one set with such technical mastery. His techno roots show as he occasionally dips into the more popular world of tribal and deep house. But he's also been known to execute sessions of straight ahead metallic techno without an ounce of deviation. Many factors contribute to where a set will go, but the final product won't be known, even to Dylan, until it's over. Relentlessly rising as one of the world's primary international dance music luminaries, Dylan has even occasionally been granted access to the teched out booths in the most respected past and present nightclubs in his own backyard: Avalon, Arc, The Tunnel, Twilo and Exit. Refusing politics, a true hero to the underground, Dylan Drazen displays equal parts skill and sonic finesse, giving proof to the dream that living what you love can become a reality. Tracklist: 01. The best DJs know that Djing is first about being able to read people and then about being able to tap into that human experience and take it on a journey. Sasha has always been noted for being a master at this, and although his style is described as "Progressive Trance" with a good presence of House and break beat elements; his music has always reached beyond those record store titles, thus separating him from his contemporaries. Sasha creates and plays music that gives emotion a chance to speak. It is this universal appeal that he has tapped into that has established his strong fanbase around the globe. This ability to capture sounds on a universal level was most recently called upon when he was asked to write all the music for Sony Playstation¹s biggest game release of 1999, "Wipeout 3". Sasha wrote 5 original tracks to soundscape the game. "Wipeout 3" won not only the best racing game award, but best game of the whole show. His special touch has also recently been called upon by The Chemical Brothers, who singled him out as the only artist asked to remix a track ("Out Of Control") from their new album. "I just dubbed it out to a style like I would play, the elements and sounds that the Chems used were so good that I didn't want to change them at all", Sasha reports on making the mix. Sasha's resume of chart topping remixes also earned him a request from Madonna in 1998 when he was asked to remix "Ray Of Light" and "Substitute For Love/ Drowned World". Do not be mistaken, this kind of recognition does not happen overnight. Born and raised in a small town in Wales, Sasha was exposed to Motown records when he was just a baby and it was in the home that his talent for playing the piano was developed. His first exposure to house music was at Manchester's Hacienda; just as dance music exploded into the summer of love. This impact encouraged his move from Wales to Manchester. His first exploration into Djing was when a DJ in a local pub announced he was looking for people to play club dates. Sasha volunteered and now says that he "had about 30 records and basically just blagged it". After honing his deck technique, Sasha's first big break came when he was offered a residency at Stokes legendary club Shelly¹s. When all the other DJ's were playing US House, Sasha's style was much more uplifting, and he encapsulated clubbers with his mixture of piano led Italian House whilst playing acapella tracks over the top. This combination alongside a wide variety of anthems kept dancefloors full and elevated Sasha to hero status. Shelly¹s was the launch pad for the residency at Renaissance, where Sasha created his niche and helped forge a new style in UK house music. At Renaissance two major things happened; Sasha mixed the first ever UK DJ mix album and he met John Digweed which cemented the partnership known as "Northern Exposure". Over the past couple of years, Sasha and John have played together on five continents, have mixed 3 "Northern Exposure" albums which have sold to over 1 million people worldwide. This special brother like relationship that Sasha and Digweed have on the decks, is what landed them the monthly residency at New York¹s "Twilo", following in the footsteps of Vasquez and Tenaglia. This residency reached cult status in New York, until the closing of Twilo in 2001. Although Sasha has clearly reached a celebrity status, it¹s his generous personality, his love for his peers and of course his completely candid humour that has enabled him to maintain such a likeable high profile in the often-fickle world of club culture. Always one to share what comes his way, Sasha invited long time friend and collaborator BT to take part in what he called "one of the most amazing musical experiences in my life". He is referring to his experience out at Peter Gabrielle¹s Real World studio in 1998 where Sasha explains in a mixer article, "we were in there for a week and were just going to do one track (during Real World¹s annual recording week where artists from all over the world are invited to Bath to record at the famous studios). "There were so many talented musicians around and the vibe down there was incredible. People were walking in, hitting things, strumming things, and slapping their goats! There were mad African people everywhere. We ended up recording five tracks and finishing four". Since then of course, Sasha has gone from DJ to superstar status in America, where "Sarsha" is a household name for many teenagers and his and John's residency has continued to provide the launchpad for British dance music into New York and beyond. The sound of Twilo: deep, pumping late night .h.o.u.s.e. is encapsulated on 'Communicate', Sasha and John's joint mix album for INCredible. Modern club anthems like Trancesetters 'Roaches' and Trisco's Muzak all blended in the late night, early morning way that New York's clubbers have come know and love. For Sasha, music is his first love, and what gives him a buzz is being able to share his music with others. From his presence at those all too talked about after hour parties where his special impromptu sets are heard, to his signature always present child like antics that leave people wondering if he has modelled his life after Peter Pan, to his DJ sets at clubs around the world, all lined with the backdrop of his own productions, Sasha leaves trails of memories, melodies and stories wherever he goes. These are the things that have been, and will continue to be remembered and passed on for years. And that is what legends are made of. www.theterracepodcast.com

All in all, it is a very personal journey through my emotions and also one of my favorite mixes of all time. I have heard this mix countless times, and it still holds up incredibly strong. I hope that you will also get something out of this mix, and even though I know the story it paints for me will not be the same story it paints for you, I hope that by the end of listening to this mix, a story does emerge. Rod B. & Alvaro Garfunk bring you the Miami Underground MovementWhile many people may claim to know Chris’ sound, with their focus on continually labeling him one thing or another, Chris is equally as focused on his efforts to push back the musical boundaries. It is testament to the man that he continues to develop his sound and musical direction, after all, as the man says himself “I just like to play good underground music, I don’t limit myself.”It is artists such as Chris Fortier who are inextricably linked to the underground dance music scene that are the genuinely pushing the sound forward. Chris’ determination to continue to push the envelope can be seen in all aspects of his career. Proof of this can be found on his recent triple CD compilation Balance and his recent solo production under the 40oz moniker and his stellar debut artist album As Long As The Moment Exits. The Balance CD genuinely offers something exciting and underground to the current stale compilation market. Boasting tracks from across the musical spectrum like David Gilmore Girls, Global Communication and Floppy Sounds through to Slam, Matthew Jonson, Rabbit in the Moon and Bent. It is little wonder the CD was name checked for compilation of the year by numerous international press publications.Under his 40oz production guise Chris has released the several EPs that musically could fit comfortably on labels such as Cocoon, Kompakt or Get Physical. Further remixes of Alexi Delano, Joshua Collins, Lee Burridge, Freaky Chakra and John Selway show Chris’ genre defying sound at it’s underground best. Taking this a step further in 2007, his debut artist album was released to countless plaudits and impeccable praise. Not satisfied with status quo, look for the boundaries to continue to be pressed and pushed with each coming musical excursion. With a DJ career spanning 15 plus years, he has continually been a crowd favourite, confirmed by his very first residency at the legendary “Aahz” in Orlando through to more recent residencies at The Cross in London and at Twilo in New York. Since a debut European tour in 1997, Chris has gone on to consistently tour the globe behind numerous singles, remixes and no less than 9 mix albums. You can catch him as easily in Tokyo as in Buenos Aires and all points in between on any given weekend. To those that know Fortier’s history, they know to expect plenty more to come, for those that are just getting initiated, Welcome!About Fade Records:Fade Records was created out of necessity in 1993. At the helm is American DJ Chris Fortier. Chris and studio partner, Neil Kolo, needed an outlet to release the tracks they were producing together. With not many options in the States, it seemed obvious to start a label and create the opportunities themselves. The first release was in 1994 called "...For All the People". This track gave them a voice and platform for the future productions. The next three tracks, "All I Got", "Separation" and "So Good" were more highly praised and received heavy support from the biggest DJs out there, including Sasha, John Digweed and Dave Seaman. Equal support came from the USA from Kimball Collins, DJ Icey and John Debo as well as the brand new Mixmag USA (which eventually would be known as Mixer). This great support put the duo on the map and started every label in the UK demanding their talents for remix duties. After several years of building their profile through remixes and the odd single, Chris wanted to re-launch the label in the hopes to help discover and cultivate new talent from America. Steve Porter was the man for this job as Chris discovered him at age 17. With the productions of Steve Porter and others like Derek Howell, Royal Sapien, Funk Harmony Park & Tonepushers, the label is as strong as ever and having great success worldwide. www.faderecords.comSpecial Thanks to Mr Chris Fortier.

Rod B. & Alvaro Garfunk bring you the Miami Underground MovementTHE FADE STORY…FADE was formed in the summer of 1993 when Neil Kolo, a young studio engineer, introduced himself to Chris Fortier, a young resident DJ at the infamous "Marz" club in Cocoa Beach, FL, and passed on a tape of some of the material he had been working on. Chris, very enthused by what he had heard, expressed his interest in the idea of working together and learning about how to produce tracks of his own like the ones he had been playing up and down the East Coast of America. The two instantly clicked and a friendship was formed. Two years later, the pair released their first record titled "...For All The People". They Floated a few one-sided promos out to gauge reaction. Meanwhile, a second track was completed, "All I Got". The two tracks were then combined as a double A-sided release, which was the first release on FADE Records, the label that Chris owns and operates. "All I Got" caught the attention of UK duo Chris & James, who helped it get signed to Mushroom Records where James was working as an A & R representative. In August of 1995, Fade released two new singles, "So Good" and "Separation". The Two Tracks received massive support from some of the biggest DJs around including their biggest inspiration, SASHA. The records became underground hits and quickly sold out. Soon after, Glasgow’s Limbo Records signed the duo for a multi-album record deal in February 1996.This success opened the door for the boys to move into the realm of remixing. First, they did remixes for friends John Debo and DJ Icey. This gave them more exposure and experience and led to remixes for Stress records and Sony’s S3 label. The Summer of 1996 brought new challenges. Now they were going to get a chance to work on more vocal oriented songs. One such song was Sam Mollison’s "Cry". When finished, the "Cry" remix set a new standard for Fade and the quality of tracks they could produce. Dave Seaman heard "Cry" and quickly added it to his Essential Mix for England’s Radio 1 FM and his Renaissance Volume 4 mix compilation on Network Records. With this surge of notoriety, DMC’s Guy Ornadel contacted Chris & Neil to remix Future Force’s "What You Want" for DMC’s Remix Culture. Rising to another level, Fade delivered one of the progressive anthems of 1996 winning Remix and Remixer of the Year in Australia. This gave way to the chance to remix Marathon’s "Movin" and Viola Wills "It’s My Pleasure", two of the guys all time favorite tracks, as well as getting the chance to remix another big influence, BT, for his song "Quark".1997 saw the boys getting attention from major labels for remixes, as well as writing and producing their own more vocal based material under the guises of Fade and Nutribe. They released their first vocal track with singer Dauby Talles called "No Resolve". This was another pinnacle in their rising careers. "No Resolve" saw heavy play from John Digweed on the Northern Exposure 2 Tour, climbed as high as #12 in the Cool Cuts Chart and has become a Florida club anthem.1998 saw Chris and Neil further expanding their horizons by doing remix work for more Indie style bands and artists like Sarah McLachlan and Delerium. The Delerium which features Sarah McLachlan on vocals and has been tearing up clubland since the first time heard at Renaissance in Ibiza when John Digweed dropped it at the closing party. Sasha quickly rang up for a copy and the tune soon became an anthem for the pair at every gig including Twilo. It even had Sasha opening and closing his sets with it at Cream and Tyrant. With the rest of clubland searching for it, Delerium debuted and #5 in MixMag Update’s Buzz Chart and appeared on the Northern Exposure 3 CD. This was truly a high point for Chris and Neil in their ever rising careers. 1998 also saw the release of "Sanctuaries" The Fade Records Collection. a collection of work including a number of unreleased remixes and original productions. The CD was released in conjunction with Universal Music.Throughout ’99 and 2000, the duo worked on their debut artist album and saw the release of their "Silence" remix released in Australia. The record was an instant hit and went to #6 in the National chart and rose to Platinum status (70, 000 units sold) in Australia alone. It also went to #1 in Holland, Belgium and Ireland, with total sales over One Million Units. Also completed was another mixed CD, mixed as Fade, called "Anthems of Progressive House: Limbo Records" and was released in November 2000. Chris made the move to New York City where he now calls home.During 2001 the pair continued their prolific remix work for new artists Andy Hunter, Lunik (Delerium) and Balligomingo. They have also produced tracks and remixes for established artists like Tiesto and Sarah McLachlan again. For the past 6 years, both Neil and Chris have been concentrating on solo work. One day they may reunite, but only time will tell.www.FadeRecords.com
