"Ooh...let's go...boom...boom...boom...Another one bites the dust!"--by Queen bassist John DeaconCoach Ronnie Thompson and quarterback Todd Dodge were football legends at Port Arthur Thomas Jefferson High School. Under Thompson's coaching genius, and Dodge's quarterbacking excellence, the #1-ranked Yellow Jackets rode the "Another One Bites the Dust" steamroller to a showdown with Odessa Permian in the 1980 State Finals.Thompson, known for his innovative offensive philosophy, is a 1962 graduate of Thomas Jefferson, and played on their 1960 district championship team along with college and NFL coaching great Jimmy Johnson. In addition to coaching at Thomas Jefferson, he had Southeast Texas coaching stints at Vidor, Lamar University, and Port Arthur Memorial. He also coached at the University of Texas and Texas A&M as offensive coordinator, as well as many years coaching high school in the Garland area.Dodge, along with receiver Brent Duhon, went on the secure All American honors for the Yellow Jackets, while setting numerous state and national records. In 1980, he was named The Most Outstanding Football Player in Texas. He went on to quarterback the Texas Longhorns. Afterwards, Dodge became one of Texas' most decorated high school head football coaches, winning seven state titles--all in Texas' highest classification. He won four titles at Southlake Carroll, where the Dragons went 79-1 over a five-year span. Gary is a true advocate and expert within the Dementia/Alzheimer's field.  His Personal/Family Caregiver experience(s) began while caring for his father for almost 10 years at home and then after a brief reprieve he then cared for his mother.  Along the way he began to develop his Common Sense Caregiving approach and writing articles for local papers which ultimately led to him being a truly international though leader in the area of Dementia Awareness and many other awe inspiring and industry leading efforts.

In our latest episode, Colton is live with Coach Gary Joseph. Coach Joseph is a Living Legend in the High School Football World. In this episode he tells us a little bit more about the tradition of Katy football and the expectation of success his athletes have to continue the winning legacy. Coach talks about the value of respecting others and respecting yourself. He describes how he builds a culture of mutual respect in his program by continuously understanding and knowing the hearts of each one of his players. Coach goes all in on building relationships and trust with his players and contributes that intentionality to how they the raise up these young men not just to be good football players but men of character.

Talking California and Texas high school football on the August 15th edition of High School Football America. Host Jeff Fisher talks with Gary Joseph, head coach of Katy High School in Texas. Katy is Texas' defending Class 5A Division II champs and the Tigers are ranked #7 in High School Football America's Preseason Top 25. Also joining Fisher on the show is Jaime Ortiz, head coach at San Clemente High School in Southern California. Ortiz talks about his program that has more than two dozen former players at the collegiate level this year, including two NCAA Division 1 starting quarterbacks - Chase Rettig at Boston College and Travis Wilson at Utah.
