Troy Kinne is an award-winning comedian, actor, writer, producer and director. In the early days of his stand-up comedy career, Troy won almost every new comic competition in Australia. The Comic's Lounge ‘You Gotta be Joking' competition saw him receive the prize of a trip to New York to attend the American Institute of Comedy. He went on to perform at several well-known clubs in the U.S. including Caroline's on Broadway, Stand Up New York, Gotham Comedy club, the Laugh Factory, The Hollywood Comedy Store and The Comedy Cellar. On returning to Australia Troy became a sought-after headline act for The Australian Armed Defence forces, Mining camps and Comedy clubs around the country. In 2010 Troy added some steady work alongside the comedy club circuit, becoming a content producer for the Fifi and Jules radio show and hosting his own regular segment interviewing celebrity guests such as Seth Rogen, Josh Lawson, Simon Pegg and DJ Havana Brown. Troy has made guest appearances on TV and radio including Nova FM's Hughsie and Kate for breakfast, Hamish & Andy, Chrissie, Sam and Brownie, Have You Been Paying Attention, The Hundred with Andy Lee and The Comedy Channel's Stand-Up Australia. However, Troy is mostly known for his own Sketch Comedy TV shows - KINNE (7 Mate) and KINNE TONIGHT (CH10). The KINNE show saw Troy nominated for the 2015 Logie Award for Most Outstanding Newcomer and a number of sketches from his shows have racked up millions of online views worldwide. Troy's comedy is known for being extremely relatable. Proof of this is his video content constantly going ‘viral' with his online following currently sitting at well over 1 million plus across all social media platforms. FULL STORY which is a special movie length opening episode is out now on YouTube which Troy funded himself – check it out (below)! I loved it! About Full Story: Full Story is being labelled by Kinne as a ‘one hour showcase special'. “Rather than being a standard ‘first episode' pilot, episode one of Full Story is essentially a mini movie, resulting in a much more comprehensive example of the vast opportunities for the series and the characters in terms of longevity.” The story follows Tucker Taylor and his struggling publicity agency who find themselves thrust into a situation requiring more time executing crisis management for themselves than their clients. This bold new series boasts a diverse lineup of talent in both background and experience ranging from newcomers, to rising stars to Aussie screen legends – Troy Kinne (Kinne, Kinne Tonight), Genevieve Hegney (Colin from Accounts), Tiana Hogben (Thank God You're Here), Kevin Hofbauer (Hamish and Andy's True Story), April Rose Pengilly (Neighbours), Colette Mann (Prisoner), Kaily Emma Smith (Stakes), Rob Mills (Every musical ever made ever), and Sicilee Diep-Dubois (Acting debut). The popularity of Kinne's previous work has resulted in eager guest appearances from Aussie stars. Lending their talents are Sophie Monk, Josh Lawson and Scott Ryan. The Full Story series explores cancel culture and the consequences that can come with fame whether seeking it or not. However, the real heart of the series is its honesty when portraying behaviour (even if it's a tough pill to swallow for the audience). This is its point of difference – no holding back. We see desperation at its finest from every perspective possible which can be an uncomfortable eye opener, encouraging the viewer to think about, and in some instances, question their own behaviour/thoughts. FULL STORY promises to be a hilarious and entertaining journey for audiences keen to once again indulge in a scripted series with ‘some balls'. We chat about his love of Thailand, creating videos, FULL STORY, heart issues, trusting your gut, being ‘made wrong', regrets, comedy, magic writing on planes, getting tv shows plus plenty more! For months now, American president Donald Trump has been saying that Canada should become part of the United States. At first, many treated it as a joke. But now, as Canadians might say, the gloves are off. Its leaders have hit back, forcefully. And Canadian comedian Mike Myers sparked a viral social movement that has swept the country, after he appeared on Saturday Night Live, motioned to his arms, and mouthed the words: “Elbows up!” Today, former Higher Commissioner to Canada, Scott Ryan, on just how much damage Trump can do to Canadian sovereignty. I'm all over the shop on the podcast today... I got a tattoo on my butt on Thursday night... I'm $12k in debt... I saw the new Captain America movie on Sunday night and I absolutely hated it... my money from Perth hasn't come through yet... tickets for Adelaide are still selling well... I'm leaving Australia in 5 months. I can't seem to relax and just settle. I've been watching this Australian show 'Mr Inbetween' on the recommendation of a friend and it is absolutely fantastic! Not only is it funny and dark, it is also recognisably Australian, set in Australia with Australian people as it's characters. Also the guy who created has worked for like twenty years to get this thing made, and he stars in it and is absolutely incredible. What a triumph of artistic vision! This stands in such stark contrast to the utter contempt in which 'Captain America' holds its audience. I sat through two hours of explosions and violent thudding and was bored the entire time - a truly pathetic offering. I'm reading 'Odyssey' by Stephen Fry, and there's a poem at the start called 'Ithaca' by C. P. Cavafy that has really resonated with me this week. It begins, "When you start on your way to Ithaca // pray that the journey be long", and goes on to describe a life full of "countless summer mornings"; full of adventure and discovery. He says "Always keep Ithaca fixed in your mind ... Yet do not hurry the journey at all". I take inspiration from the story of Scott Ryan who created 'Mr Inbetween' - he has Ithaca fixed in his mind. I also take inspiration from everyone who worked on 'Captain America', these poor souls lost at sea. I try to remember not to hurry my journey: "... better that it lasts for many years and you arrive an old man on the island, rich from all that you have gained on the way, not counting on Ithaca for riches. For Ithaca gave you the splendid voyage: without her you would never have embarked. She has nothing more to give you now."
Did you know that your employer-qualified retirement plan can negatively impact the company's growth potential and profit margins? We're talking about the carbon footprint of a firm's qualified retirement plan investments, insurance premium payments or bank loans. This is a critical topic because financed emissions are linked to the activities of financial institutions like the investment managers, banks and insurers, which are employed by 60 million SMEs in the U.S. Scott Ryan, CEO of Investature is an impact investment advisor and financed emissions expert. On today's program Ryan tells us how company owners and employees can use employer-sponsored investment and retirement plans to catalyze sustainable impact and growth goals.

Publisher and author Scott Ryan is like Google when it comes to TV and film. He knows the genres intimately, and has written niche books about everything from Letterman to Streisand. Today, he joins us to discuss his latest book, “The Last Days Of Cinema,” which is a brilliant look at cinema in the 90's and the impact those films had on pop culture at the time and in retrospect, today. Scott selected twenty-five films to for his book from thousands made in the 1990's, from Goodfellas to Magnolia and so many others classics, and he was very strategic in his selection. He's analyzed how films of the 90s shaped our culture, which was the last decade before social media took over and influenced millions. Having just returned from the #VeniceFilmFestival, I saw some magnificent films, but I'll admit there's a difference between films today and 30 years ago. I'll ask him about that, perhaps it's because of streaming, with less people collectively going to the movies? Scott has written many books including “Last Days of Letterman,” “Barbra Streisand The Music,” “Moonlighting,” and others that capture a moment in our culture that we all shared. Now, it's different, not better or worse, but just different. And it's not going back. Scott is also a publisher and founded Fayetteville Mafia Press, a boutique publishing company. He admits he's “living his dream” through his work, and where he lives in Sarasota, Florida, which I also call home (part time). There's a lot to talk about. Please join me on all video and audio platforms of #DeborahKobyltLIVE and @TheSarasotaPodcast. I'm your host, #DeborahZaraKobylt, and it's my pleasure to welcome you here. Have a question for Scott? Initially posted Mar 9, 2023 on YouTube under the title "Work, Play, and Creativity (with Scott Ryan)" Description: Scott Ryan (BlueRoseMag.com) wrote his first book at 8 years old and has been creating ever since. I had a great time chatting with Scott about family, work, creativity, and his latest book, "Lost Highway: Fist of Love."
On the latest Friday Morning Coffee, Caitlin Malcuit talks about the current state of cinema (sigh). She mentions an article from More Perfect Union titled Why Hollywood Can't Stop Making Sequels, Prequels and Reboots (published in June 2023) that is well worth your time. Author Scott Ryan then talks to Daniel Ford about his book The Last Decade of Cinema, in which he makes the argument that feature films peaked in the 1990s. Entertainment writer Scott Ryan discusses his book "The Last Decade of Cinema," which celebrates the great films of the 1990's, which he regards as the final heyday of the golden age of cinema.
Books That Make You Relive the Last Decade of Real Cinema—the 1990s Pop culture historian and entertainment scholar Scott Ryan has turned his sights on the 1990s in his latest work, The Last Decade of Cinema, a thoughtful, comprehensive book of dozens of essays looking back at twenty-five movies that defined the 21st century's last generation. The book offers exclusive interviews and insights from industry giants like Alexander Payne, Patricia Arquette, Helen Childress and Natasha Gregson Wagner (Natalie Wood's daughter). The book also analyzes iconic movies from the nineties, unpacking their cultural impact and legacy. It makes us remember a time when films were communal, when they were “big events”, when they impacted our lives—when things were simpler, at least in the realm of media content. And when it was okay to argue with your friends over what was in the Pulp Fiction briefcase. Find out more on Books That Make You. You can also follow us on Facebook and Instagram.

Steve interviews Kenny Albert (00:06:54) from Fox Sports, TNT, and elsewhere. For the first time, Kenny joins us as a published author. He is on to promote his book, A Mic for All Seasons. Steve and Kenny talk about how the book came to be, why Kenny decided to write it on his own, and the fun he has had promoting it. Steve and Kenny also talk about Kenny's wide range of contacts, his relationship with Marv Albert, and the radio station he created with the call letters of his initials. Also, Scott Ryan returns to make a victory lap (00:35:09). Scott's beloved Massillon Tigers are the state champions for the first time since 1973. Scott talks about finally seeing a state championship, divine intervention on the games decisive play, and the role the Tigers have in the community. Massillon is a story of small town American values, never quitting on a dream and the book is going to be incredible. You know damn well that Scott is writing it. Steve starts the show with First Things First and quickly gives his updated thoughts on the Saints and the Sabres. The book club is done for 2023, sort of. The show ends with one last thing about being Christmas traditions and enjoying the season. For more information follow the podcast on twitter @sports_casters Email: thesportscasters@gmail.com

In this episode, I spoke with author Scott Ryan on his book "Moonlighting: An Oral History". Once upon a time ABC-TV's Moonlighting was among the most buzzed-about shows in the country, thanks largely to the bravado of creator Glenn Gordon Caron, who never met a television convention he didn't want to break, and the sizzling on-screen chemistry between glamorous erstwhile film star Cybill Shepherd and a New Jersey bartender nobody had ever heard of before named Bruce Willis, who bickered and flirted ceaselessly on screen and engaged in epic off-screen battles that all these years later remain the stuff of Hollywood legend.
