A legend at Randolph High School, Taylor capped her career with an unmatched 16-for-16 run of individual state gold medals in the 100 m, 200 m, long jump, and relays—and did it without ever losing a state meet race ([San Antonio Report][1], [San Antonio Express-News][2]).As Taylor takes this moment of pause after her final high school season, she sets her sights on the 2028 Olympics on home turf in Los Angeles. She's aiming to shave her 100 m time down to the high‑10 seconds and extend her long jump from 21 to 22 feet ([San Antonio Report][1]). Beyond her athletic goals, Taylor is deeply grounded: she graduated with a strong 3.7 GPA and plans to pursue a degree in kinesiology, with dreams of working in physical therapy—choosing a professional path over turning pro immediately ([San Antonio Report][1]).Coming from a powerhouse athletic lineage—her mom, Tameka, is a former Olympian-caliber competitor, and her grandparents were athletes, too—Taylor's discipline, focus, and dedication shine through. She's made sacrifices for her craft, from early morning workouts to missed prom nights, all while keeping her eye on using track as a springboard to adulthood ([San Antonio Report][1]).Tune in to hear Taylor's story: from family inspiration and record-setting high school dominance to recruiting experiences, balancing academics with elite training, and mapping her Olympic dream. Agustin Luna is a sophomore at J.W. Nixon High School in Laredo, Texas, he is the chapter's reporter and he is responsible for cooking the pork ribs on the barbecue team. That's right, the barbecue team. Until an article popped up on my news feed the other day, I was unaware that there was such a think as a high school barbecue competition. However, Agustin goes to school in Texas, so I shouldn't have been surprised. Agustin and his team have qualified to be in the state championship in may, just a few days before this episode is aired. The championship is held in Round Rock, at the baseball field that was built there to honor Nolan Ryan. How can you get more Texas than barbecue and Nolan Ryan. Agustin and each of his teammates are assigned an item to cook for the competition. Each dish is scored individually by judges, the scores are compiled and a gross score is given to each team. The top teams from each regional competition get to advance, and J.W. Nixon is one of those teams this year. This is not an FFA competition, but at J.W. Nixon High School the team is from the FFA chapter.
